Regarding SQL Loader

Hi,
I have only one field to load my table. That is there is only 1 column in my table. My control file looks like this
load data
infile '/tmp/clo.list'
--badfile 'temp_clo.bad'
into table temp_clo
FIELDS TERMINATED BY ','
OPTIONALLY ENCLOSED BY '"'
(clo)
The fact is that my table is not getting loaded. In my input file I have a single value that has to be loaded. Please help me out.
Thanks in advance

  • Regarding sql loader ---  can we have  control file  to do a check on csv?

    Hi,
    I normally get a csv having data as
    column1 ;columnb;columnc;
    13 ; 12 ; 13 ;
    11 ;13 ;33;
    as the table where it needs to go is say table
    xys( a number, b number , c number).
    so the control file is fairly simple ...
    But from now I need to restrict data entry if the change in format happens in the csv
    say if it is like
    column2;column1;column3,
    12,13;12;
    11;13;14;
    or say the csv like
    column1;column2;column3;column4;
    11;13;14;15;
    111;134;14;12;
    in both cases sql loader should not run and throw the error saying the reason in the log.
    how do i manage it in the control file `???
    any ideas???
    it is urgent pls help !!!
    regards

    Try changing the following properties:
    autosubmit = true;
    immediate = true;
    Here is a link where the user uses a transient attribute for the rows in his table:
    Technology on my way...:): ADF 11g : CheckBox Demo (Select one checkbox in table, Select all/Deselect all)
    Hope that helps.

  • Need help regarding sql loader

    Hi ,
    I am executing following command
    sqlldr admin_user@ces CONTROL=D:\sample_control.ctl log=D:\sample_log.log bad=D:\Sample_bad.bad
    In case of valid data it is inserting the data properly into the table. While invalid records added into the bad file.
    Now I want rollback valid data whenever count of bad file greater than equal to 10.
    In short whenever file has more than 10 invalid records , I don't want to insert any record from that file.
    Please provide me the solution.Thanks in advance.

  • Help Needed regarding SQL Loader Error

    Hi,
    I am trying to insert some records into two tables using same control file.
    I am using the follwing command to load data
    sqlload "$ORAUSER" CONTROL="$LDRFILE" DATA="$DATA_PATH/$DATA_FILE" BAD="$BAD_FILE" LOG="$LOG_FILE" DISCARD="$DISCARD_FILE" ERRORS="$MAX_ERRS"
    I am getting the error: SQL-LOADER - 350: Illegal combination of non-alphanumeric characters
    #!/bin/ksh
    Please suggest me what I need to do.
    Thanks,
    Srinivas.

    it appears that you are using this line code in your korn shell script. if you try to do a manual run on the unix command line do you still get the same error?
    also can you post a sample value for all the parameters you have.

  • Sql*loader and sequence() for primary keys

    I have a question regarding SQL*Loader with the sequence() function and using it for a primary key to load records in multiple tables from one input record. I am pulling data from a delimited file and populating several tables from each row. For the primary key, I am using the sequence function.
    For the first table (the parent), I use sequence(40000,1) for the key. Since the remaining inserts are based on the same logical record, I use sequence(40000,1) for those too (one record for each month). The problem comes in when a child record does not pass a WHEN clause (the amount is zero). Then it almost seems as if the parent record is not loaded and the child (or children) that does pass the WHEN clause are assigned to the next parent! Obviously, the sequence is getting out of sync between the children and the parent.
    I've looked in the documentation and tried several different ways to attack this problem. Is there a bug in SQLLDR (8.1.7) or is it just my coding.
    I will try to include the files below but they are very large.
    Thanks for your help.

    Thanks for the reply .. user do have their user credentials but only for the application ... but all users use a common loader and control file once they log into the application. So irrespective of which user is logged in he selects the same control file and loads to the same table mentioned in the control file .. i instead want user to be able to load to the table in control file but into his schema like username.tablename instead of just the tablename mentioned in .ctl file.

  • Request: PL/SQL, External Table and SQL Loader

    I see lately Questions asked in SQL and PL/SQL forum regarding SQL Loader and External Table are being moved to {forum:id=732}.
    Being an PL/SQL developer for some time now i feel External Table (and if i may, SQL Loader and DBMS_DATAPUMP) are very much an integral part of a PL/SQL development and the question related to these topics are well suited in SQL and PL/SQL forum. Even in SQL and PL/SQL FAQ we have exclusive content that discuss on these topics {message:id=9360007}
    So i would like to request the moderators to consider not moving such questions out of the SQL and PL/SQL forum.

  • SQL Loader choosing conventional path when direct path is requested

    We have a mystery regarding SQL Loader choosing to load with conventional path even though direct path is requested.
    We have a control file that produces direct-path loads and one which does not. The difference between them does not seem to account for the difference in behavior.
    The following control file does not give us direct-path:
    OPTIONS (
         SKIP=0,
         ERRORS=0,
         DIRECT=TRUE,
         NOLOGGING
    LOAD DATA
    INFILE "[file path]" "STR x'0A'"
    BADFILE "[file path].bad"
    DISCARDFILE "[file path].dsc"
    DISCARDMAX 0
    INSERT
    INTO [schema name].[table name]
    FIELDS TERMINATED BY X'2C'
    OPTIONALLY ENCLOSED BY '?'
    TRAILING NULLCOLS
         C1_ACD_LINE_CD     CHAR(2000),
    [column specifications continue]
    )When running with this control file, the log shows:
    Number to load: ALL
    Number to skip: 0
    Errors allowed: 0
    Bind array:     64 rows, maximum of 256000 bytes
    Continuation:    none specified
    Path used:      Conventional
    Table [schema name].[table name], loaded from every logical record.
    Insert option in effect for this table: INSERT
    TRAILING NULLCOLS option in effectIf we use a control file that is modified as follows:
    OPTIONS (
         SKIP=0,
         ERRORS=0,
         DIRECT=TRUE,
         PARALLEL=TRUE,
         NOLOGGING
         )Then we do get direct-path load:
    Number to load: ALL
    Number to skip: 0
    Errors allowed: 0
    Continuation:    none specified
    Path used:      Direct
    Table [schema name].[table name], loaded from every logical record.
    Insert option in effect for this table: INSERT
    TRAILING NULLCOLS option in effectSo there is nothing about the table (constraints, triggers, etc.) that is preventing direct-path loads.
    Now, we stumbled into this PARALLEL thing by accident - we are not really trying to do parallel loads.
    In my reading of the Utilities guide (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e22490/ldr_modes.htm#autoId64 ), the PARALLEL option lets SQL Loader tolerate multiple sessions loading to the same segment at once, but does not perform parallel processing itself. So, is it possible there is some other lock on the table is causing SQL Loader to block direct-path loads to the table (because of a previous SQL Loader direct-path load, perhaps) unless the PARALLEL option is invoked? If so, how do we recognize that state and how do we resolve it?
    Version information:
    Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.3.0 - 64bit Production
    PL/SQL Release 11.2.0.3.0 - Production
    CORE     11.2.0.3.0     Production
    TNS for Solaris: Version 11.2.0.3.0 - Production
    NLSRTL Version 11.2.0.3.0 - Production
    Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Mike

    From the same link
    >
    To use a direct path load (except for parallel loads), SQL*Loader must have exclusive write access to the table and exclusive read/write access to any indexes.
    >
    So I suspect that when using only DIRECT=TRUE, Oracle is not able to get an exclusive lock on the required objects, so it uses the conventional mode.
    From a later section
    >
    - Segments to be loaded do not have any active transactions pending.
    To check for this condition, use the Oracle Enterprise Manager command MONITOR TABLE to find the object ID for the tables you want to load. Then use the command MONITOR LOCK to see if there are any locks on the tables.

  • Where is SQL LOADER and How i can use

    where is and where i can find and run SQL LOADER. because i want to import data from ms excel.
    regards.

    SQL*LOADER is right there on your system if you have successfully installed any of the oracle database products.
    Depending on your OS the version of the product you installed then you can invoke it from the OS command prompt. For example in windows OS and with oracle 8.0 product then issue sqllrd80 (or something like that!!). You can check what loader is actually on your system by searching for the sqlldr.*
    Also refer to oracle 8 documentation for further explanation. I hope this helps.

  • Need help:Scripting on windows and Sql Loader

    Hi
    I need some help regarding script work on windows machines i.e., how to write a script,the file extension,how to run the script etc,how to schedule it...
    I also need the doc regarding sql loader(complete details.....)
    Thanks in advance...
    bye

    The sqlldr utility is fully documented in the Oracle version# Utilities manual for your version of Oracle. You can find the documentation sets here on OTN for download or you can use the online versions at http://tahiti.oracle.com
    There is a product called Script Works and it is documented by the vendor. Otherwise the details depend on the scripting language/tool you use: DOS, Perl, etc....

  • Doubt in sql loader regarding TOM's reply

    Hi,
    My question is at the last line. But u need to go through this to understand my problem.
    Hi Tom,
    I want to load some input files delimited by Text into Oracle database. Can you
    please help me out in this.
    I know one way of doing it is using SQLLOADER writing the control files and give
    the control file as input to SQLLOADER.
    After loading into the table I take data from the table and
    process the data as per the requirements, load into different table.
    Here my qwestion is these alli the input files will be placed in a public
    folders. All the users will place these files into
    this common folder. My job is, I need to load this data into
    different table as per the requirements. If I use SQLLOADER
    I need to create the control files for each input file I load.
    I want to load all the files at a time say in the night by running a Job at a
    specified time.
    All the input files will be in the same format means corresponds to one table.
    What are all the possible ways and can you give some example solutions for this.
    Thanks in advance..Thanks a lot
    Arun Tummala
    and we said...
    If they are all going into the same table and they all have the same format
    (columns in the same order) you only need 1 control file.
    Since you use the term "folder" I'll assume you are on Windows. Here is an
    example command that will use a single ctl file to load all of the .dat files in
    a directory:
    C:\oracle\RDBMS\demo\test>for %f in ( *.dat ) do sqlldr tkyte/tkyte data.ctl
    data=%f
    you'll see the following on your screen if there where 2 dat files to be loaded,
    data1.dat and data2.dat:
    C:\oracle\RDBMS\demo\test>sqlldr tkyte/tkyte data.ctl data=data1.dat
    SQL*Loader: Release 8.1.6.0.0 - Production on Sun Nov 19 09:25:11 2000
    (c) Copyright 1999 Oracle Corporation. All rights reserved.
    Commit point reached - logical record count 7
    C:\oracle\RDBMS\demo\test>sqlldr tkyte/tkyte data.ctl data=data2.dat
    SQL*Loader: Release 8.1.6.0.0 - Production on Sun Nov 19 09:25:11 2000
    (c) Copyright 1999 Oracle Corporation. All rights reserved.
    Commit point reached - logical record count 7
    C:\oracle\RDBMS\demo\test>
    You do not need to put the filename into the ctl file -- you can pass it in on
    the command line.
    My Question
    C:\oracle\RDBMS\demo\test>for %f in ( *.dat ) do sqlldr tkyte/tkyte data.ctl data=%f
    When i use the above command "for %f in ........ " from my unix prompt i am not able to work it out. It works fine for windows
    Can anyone help me how to use the above mentioned command on the unix prompt.
    Thanks,

    Hi Laurent,
    I am using k-shell prompt.
    I have used what u have said but its not working....
    for f in *.dat
    do sqlldr data.ctl data=$f
    done
    I need to use this command at the ksh prompt. But i am getting an error.
    syntax error: "done unexpected"
    Thanks in advance..........

  • SQL*Loader and DECODE function

    Hi All,
    I am loading data from data files into oracle tables and while loading the data using SQL*Loader, the following requirement needs to be fulfilled.
    1) If OQPR < 300, RB = $ 0-299, SC = "SC1"
    2) If 300 < OQPR < 1200, RB = $ 300-1199, SC = "SC2"
    3) If 1200 < OQPR < 3000, RB = $ 1200-2999, SC = "SC3"
    4) If OQPR > 3000 USD, RB = > $3000, SC = "SC4"
    Here OPQR is a field in the data file.
    Can anyone suggest how do we handle this using DECODE function? Triggers and PL/SQL functions are not to be used.
    TIA.
    Regards,
    Ravi.

    The following expression gives you different values for your different intervals and boundaries :
    SIGN(:OQPR - 300) + SIGN(:OQPR - 1200) + SIGN(:OQPR - 3000)

  • SQL Loader Inserts chr(13) and chr(10) in the first column of every row.

    Hi,
    I have exported a data in a pipe delimited file using TOAD in one database. Now I want to load the data in my local database using SQL Loader. However every time I try to load the data a double quote followed by a new line is entered for the first column of each row. Unfortunately the delimited file is very big and hence can't be posted here. However I tried the same with a customized table and its data and found the same problem. Below are the table structures and control file that I used.
    create table test_sql
    a varchar2(30),
    b date
    insert into test_sql values('51146263',sysdate-3);
    insert into test_sql values('51146261,sysdate-1);
    EXPORTED PIPE DELIMITED FILE_
    A|B|!##!
    51146261|04/14/13 4:55:18 PM|!##!
    51146263|04/12/13 4:55:32 PM|!##!
    create table test_sql1 as select * from test_sql where 1=2;
    CONTROL FILE_
    OPTIONS(SKIP=1)
    LOAD DATA
    INFILE 'C:\Users\Prithwish\Desktop\Test.txt' "str '!##!'"
    PRESERVE BLANKS
    INTO TABLE TEST_SQL1
    FIELDS TERMINATED BY '|' OPTIONALLY ENCLOSED BY '"'
    TRAILING NULLCOLS
    A CHAR(2000),
    B DATE "MM/DD/YYYY HH12:MI:SS AM"
    select * from TEST_SQL1;
    After this when I paste it in notepad I get the following result
    A B
    51146261"     14-APR-0013 16:55:18
    51146263"     12-APR-0013 16:55:32.
    I have no idea how the quotes or the newline appear. Is this a Toad bug? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Really urgent.
    Thanks in advance
    Regards

    Hi Harry,
    I actually thought that the str !##! was causing the problem. Actually my original export has some new lines in some specific columns so I can't keep the new line as my line terminator and hence I kept the !##! as my terminator.
    When I put the same data in a notepad and load it there is no problem at all. For e.g I just typed the following in a notepad and the data loaded just fine.
    A|B|!##!
    51146261|01-01-01 10:10:10 AM|!##!
    51146263|01-01-01 11:11:11 AM|!##!
    Its just when I load the exported file there the problem arises though I have verified the file using UNIX as well using octal dump and found no hidden characters.

  • Invokin SQL*Loader from a stored procedure

    I try to invoke SQL*LOADER from within a database package by using external C procedure (the procedure calls the system() C function) but the loader generates the following error in its log file :
    SQL*Loader -523: error -2 writing to file (STDERR)
    and no data is uploaded.
    I have tried to use system() from within database procedures to execute OS commands and it works. Does anyone know what is the problem with using system() to execute "sqlldr <parameters>"? Is there some other way to call the loader from within a stored PL/SQL procedure?
    Thank you very much for your help.

    Hi
    What is your task and why you are trying to invoke SQL*Loader from strorage procedure or package? Maybe the redirecting of stderr will resolve your problem but thik is it the best way to do your job.
    I am not sure, that invoking other executables from Oracle instance is good idea.
