Regarding the Bursting of the Report

Hi all,
I have a report like this
BRANCH GROUP
( Amount sold)
NAME
It is in Pivot View .
Now i want to burst this report using branch.We have 5 branches .So i have created a burst sql like this
select 'Branch Group' KEY,
'TEST' TEMPLATE,
'RTF' TEMPLATE_FORMAT,
'en-US' LOCALE,
'PDF' OUTPUT_FORMAT,
'FILE' DEL_CHANNEL,
'D:\temp' PARAMETER1,

from dual;
Actually brach group has come from BRANCH table.
The reason why i created from dual is because i am not sure .I don't have all these template ,key template format and all those things in my BRANCH table.
I am not sure what to d now Struck out in the MIddle .

Do you have a key for the branch in the table? I assumed that you had a key column "Branch Group" in that table that can be used to split the data and generate as many files as the keys..
For all the other columns that you are not getting from the 'BRANCH' table, you are using literals to populate those columns.
The query that I provided earlier should work provided there is a key/Branch that you can use. For parameter 2 we have specified that the filename include the "Branch Group" key concatenated with .pdf so if you have a branch key as 123 then you will have a file as 123.pdf saved on the location you have specified..

Bursting an BIP report by email- issues

hi there,
I tried to schedule and burst the Burst by Email report from the demo files and here is the error.
any ideas are welcomed.
The other demo report bursting by files works fine.
The error message mentions to check the log but which one, what is the path to that error log?

Using the Bursting engine for scheduling the Reports

Hi,
Can we use the Bursting Engine for scheduling the reports? For example I want to run a report in a scheduled time and send the mail to destination. We can do these things in the XML Publisher console. But we need to find any other way to schedule a report.

I am looking for the same thing.
I believe the APIs are entirely separate from the functionality in the BIP web application. So that there is no way to programmatically initiate the scheduling of a report/template already defined in the UI via a command line or API call. Is this accurate?
I sort of expected the APIs to have functionality that exposed the features of the web application, as opposed to just exposing the base functionality/engine of BIP.

Regarding Issue when Exporting the Output of the Discoverer Report to Excel

Can Any of you guys help me out in this issue. I am exporting the Discoverer Report Output to Excel sheet, I am able to export but while I am opening the excel sheet I am getting an error saying "UNABLE TO READ FILE".

Is there any way to export the output of scheduled Discoverer Reports to a particular server using Discoverer plus.Only by openning and exporting each report manually.
is there any way to get the output name in a particular syntax. I want to concatenate date in the output name.Only by entering the filename when you do the export.
The best way to do this is to use Discoverer Desktop and a third party scheduler. Then you can export all your reports automatically and define the filename used in the output. Search this forum for more information on third party schedulers.

Regarding the status of the report

hi can anybody tell me the way which we get the status of various SOrders and it should check some seven conditions and display the status , the following are the statuses to be displayed.
a. Mark as O (open) = Get the VBUK-LFSTK where VBAK-VBELN, If VBUK-LFSTK is A show the sales order status open
b. Mark as H (on Hold) = Pull the VBAK-VBELN reference to VBAK-LIFSK. If the sales order has the delivery block (15 IBM Pending BOP file )
c. Mark as D (Drop/Pull) = Get the LIKP-VBELN reference to VBAK-VBELN and give the LIKP-VBELN for VBUK- VBELN and if the VBUK- LVSTK is A then it is dropped.
d. Mark as N (pending) = Get LIKP-LIFSK from the LIKP-VBELN where VBAK-VBELN if the status is either 12, 13,14,15,16 and 17
e. Mark as F (Floor) = Get the LIKP-VBELN reference to VBAK-VBELN and give the LIKP-VBELN for VBUK- VBELN and if the VBUK- LVSTK is C then it is transferred to the floor.
f. Mark as K (Kitted) = Get the LIKP-VBELN reference to VBAK-VBELN and give the LIKP-VBELN for VBUK- VBELN and if the VBUK- LVSTK is B then it is kitted.
g. Mark as P (packed)= Get LIKP-VBELN reference VBAK-VBELN and give LIKP-VBELN as an input for VBUK- PKSTK and PKSTK isC

in bex analyzer, you can display the date with menu business explorer -> display text elements -> general, you will see some info, 'author'... 'last refreshed'.

How to get the bursting control file in xml publisher

I am using oracle Apps r12 and Bi publisher 10g.
I have followed these steps for Xml Bursting reports

Whether the system will generate Burst control file after creating data definition or we need to create a control file.

Passing Printer as a parameter in the bursting control file

One of our requirements is to print our report on different printers based on the user input. To acheive this, I am passing printer name as one of the parameter in our concurrent process. In the bursting java process, I set the properties as
Properties prop= new Properties();
prop.put("user-variable:PRINTER_NAME","ipp://146.141.12.128/printers/lp1");
dp.setConfig(prop);
dp.process();
In the control file, I am pasing print delivery as :
<xapi:print id="printer1" printer="$(PRINTER_NAME)" copies="1" />
The system throws an error 'java string out of expection' and takes PRINTER_NAME as null in the print delivery. The same thing works perfeclty for E-Mail server if I pass name of the e-mail server in parameter and in the java and control file..I make the following changes:

prop.put("user-variable:SERVER_NAME","cns.wits.ac.za");
dp.setConfig(prop);
dp.process();

Try curly brackets i.e. ${PRINTER_NAME} instead of $(PRINTER_NAME).

Change the name of the pdfs generated during Bursting

Hi experts,
Good morning.
I need a help on report bursting. I am bursting a report with desination as Email. Everything works fine. I need to change the name of the attachement(pdf) is it possible.
Is there any setting where I set the report name as I wish. For example ' Statement <<Customer ID>>.pdf, where Customer ID will be from my XML data.
Now, the report name are like xmlp1234545_IA900A_11.pdf etc.,

I am using Email as a channel for bursting. There is no parameter for output filename while you use EMAIL.
Is my understanding correct?

How to add A single row at the middle of the table in a Webi report

I created a Webi report using Universe(Created universe using bex query).Now i have a requirement to display a row at the middle of a report. Can you please tell me ,how to add a sigle row at the middle of a Webi report.

Hi Monika,
It is not really possible to add a row (I assume you mean of unrelated data) to the middle of a table in a report. You can add a new table with a single row between two tables. For instance you could add a new one row table, or even single cells which are positioned relatively between two tables. Possibly a block on top of another. But this gets tricky.
Can you explain in more detail what you are trying to do?

How to add a sub report at the end of the main report whilst grouped

Hi!
I have a main report that is grouped by the Customers name and then details of transactions they did with the company.
I need to add a letter at the end of each group for each customer (With their name displayed in the letter). I tried adding a sub report in the report footer, but it only appears once at the end of the report, rather than at the end of each group for each customer.
How can I achieve the desired result?

Vik,
You are on the right track with the sub-report.
1. Create your letter in a separate report.
2. Add the Letter Report to your original report as a sub report in the group footer.
3. Set the report links on the "Group By" field.
This will give you a letter record for each report record with the same grouping as the main report.

How to find out the user from the Jobs queue in Report server

Hello All!
I have a doubt about finding out the user from the scheduled jobs queue. Say I go ahead and schedule a report on Reports Server how can I find out the user name. When I view the jobs using showjobs I could see that the DBMS_JOBS table has a column under "Job Owner". But it invariantly shows it is "rwuser". So is there a way to find out which user has scheduled which job?

Could not see the data in the report

Hi,
BOXI R3.1 is intalled newly in my sytem.Through Infoview,when i refresh a new report, though data is getting into the report ,I am not able to see the data in the report plus the Header color is blue and the rest of the row colors are displaying as yellow.
when I am logging in another machine i am able to see the data.Please help me in solving this issue.

Spandana,
As suggested, JVM is problem. You can find out it at Control Panel == Java (Double-click) General tab == About button (See the build version) (build 1.6.0_20-b02). So you have to choose below 20 (I prefer 17).
Alternatively, You might have several Java's running on your machine. Uninstall all Java versions and start developing reports or Editing any existing reports, now BO will prompt for you to install JVM, Run it, Now the problem is solved.
Hope it should solves the issue.
If you want to see the data:(now with yellow & blue)
Select Column == properties == Read cell content as, change it to HTML.
