  • Spool requests are being sent the the B9 printer queue(RSNAST00).

    Hi gurus,
has anyone found a fix for this issue? i'm currently experiencing the same issue and would like to know how i can fix this..
Spool requests are being sent the the B9 printer queue. Most spool requests are for one page, when there are spool requests for multiple pages these spool requests take longer to create, in the meantime, other spool requests that are single pages are going to the printer queue. This creates and "out-of-vendor-order" issue during printing.
The out of vendor order sequencing creates a significant level of work effort for the business users to resort the printed copies in order to prepare the documents for mailing. A change is required to eliminate this manual effort.
Development has indicated an enhancement could be made to the RSNAST00 program where only those print jobs for application "MR" with transmission "1" (for print) would be gathered in groups of "X" number of documents to create one spool, prior to creating the spool, a check would be made to see if the next document was for the same vendor, if so the next document/s would be included in the same spool, when a new vendor was found, a new spool would be created.
To temporarily fix the issue the jobs have been placed on "no execute" and the support team is identifing the chargebacks and RTV created during the week, manually running the RSNAST00 program in groups of 500 - 800 documents, ensuring all doucments for a vendor a sent in the same spool request.

Nobody know the answer to this one? Stephen@Azzu:Here's a good one...I'm using Crysal Reports XI (fully service packed) and the reports I have created are being used in a VB.Net application. I have no problems whatsoever in printing the reports, everything is fine. However, when the report is sent to the printer, the printer queue displays 'document' as the, err, document name. I'd like it to say something more relevant, such as the document number the user selected. So I've tried setting the ReportDocument.Name but wait, it's read only!? How about the summary info? No change. Filename? No change either. I've browsed the internet, searched the knowledge base and found nothing. So my question is this...How do I get the printer queue to display an appropriate name for my document?Stephen

  • Still waiting for a response from Adobe regarding the post "Printing a pdf from a marked-up pdf".

Still waiting for a response from Adobe regarding the post "Printing a pdf from a marked-up pdf" dated 15 Dec 2012 9:20 AM.

Look everyone that comes here with a support problems has gone through all the normal channels, around and  round in circles with no one seeming to be interested. They've called every phone number, every email address they can find. They have been put on hold and bounced fifty times to another operator only to be hung up on. If Adobe would bring back support to main land and have people that know what's going on instead of having people that people can barely understand read from scripts. Scripted information only applies about 10 % of the time. I'm just giving people an alternative. after they have torn their hair out going the normal route.  If they had been able to get a solution they wouldn't be coming here for help.
There should be a forum set up just for people to air these issues and Adobe employees forced to man it. Then we wouldn't have to have such a Bad attitude. Right now Adobe's Support reputation is worse than Intuit's which did have the absolutely worse on the Planet. Now they are number 2.
You know it yourself that Adobe's support is absolutely worse than terible. However to prevent me from being banned from the forums I will simply will provide the adobecare email address from now on
So let's sweep it under the rug.

  • Hp photosmart C7280 says "stopped" in print queue and won't print!

I just bought an hp photosmart C7280 today. It was a pretty simple setup with the actual printer and network and all. i download the updated driver from the hp website and all seemed kosher there too. now i click "print" and on the print queue page it says "stopped" and won't print!
ahhh please help? is this a good printer with macs anyways? it seemed kinda loud during the setup...

I too have gone through most of the problems described here but have finally been able to get the c7280 working properly, yet I'm still not very happy with the solution.
For connectivity reasons, I wanted to connect the aio to my network via ethernet cable directly to my router. While my computers will access the network wirelessly, I wanted the printer to have a solid connection. Unfortunately, I was never (and still can't) get it to work properly using this connection. What finally did work was using the wireless connection in the printer to connect to the network.
Why this would work wirelessly and not while directly connected is something no one has been able to explain. I still have the printer right next to my wireless router to interference doesn't seem to be a problem and it seems fast enough, but the fact that I can't get it working properly with a "less technically challenged" method, really bothers me. What if I didn't have a wireless network? While wireless is great, if there was an easy solution to have all my desktops connected via ethernet, I'd prefer it (easy being not having a bunch a cables around and perhaps a pre-wired network in my home!)
Anyway, I hope everyone who has this machine gets the problem worked out. Unfortunately, knowing what I know now, I don't think I would buy this one again unless the software was rock solid. Physically the unit works well, but is a little loud I admit and went through my black cartridge pretty fast even though I used in saving settings such as fast draft, etc.
Just as a side note, the HP support guy in Canada was fairly annoying. When we still couldn't get it working properly via ethernet, he insisted it must be a problem with Apple or a conflict with a program I have installed, etc, etc. and told me that every one of his customers that has Leopard also has this unit working 100% properly. I politely told him he needs to add me as his first failure!
OK, enough rant. Try connecting wirelessly and see if that works. I would uninstall the current printers as suggested, but also clear out the printer cache. Do this by right clicking in the add a printer box area and choose reset printing system. If all else fails and you upgraded to Leopard from Tiger, then......gulp...... uninstall Leopard and revert back to Tiger. Under Tiger, both my macs worked perfectly connected via ethernet printer connection. Good luck.

  • Printing w/Leopard & AD-based Windows Print Queues:

For those interested, I have written an overview of printing in Leopard 10.5.0 to Windows print servers (published queues Active Directory). Your mileage may vary. This document contains the good the bad and the ugly.
    Objective:
Get Leopard based Macs to print to AD published SMB print queues hosted on Windows 2003 print servers. Sounds easy, huh?
    Overview:
    Print Servers:
    Windows 2003 print servers.
    Printers:
All the printers in my test were all new HP network b/w printers or network MFP b/w printers. All of them were less than 2 years old. None of them were consumer-grade home USB printers.
    Mac Clients:
My test clients were Intel MacBook Pros and Intel iMacs running 10.5.0 Leopard. All of them had user AD accounts and all Macs were bound to AD using Directory Utility (or dsconfigad)
The AD clients have a unique naming convention at my company. In my environment we use the initials of the person for their login name (SAM). Example:
Real “human” Name: “Stephen Paul Jobs”
Long Active Directory Name: “Steve Jobs”
    Short Active Directory Name: “spj”
    “Legacy” NT Names: “domain\spj”
Full domain name (used for email etc): “[email protected]
    (you get the idea...)
Note: My Mac clients are not in an Open Directory domain. No “Magic Triangle” in this environment. Pure AD for the sake of this example. I am not managing the Mac clients via MCX in this scenario.
    Print Protocols:
All the print queues hosted on the print servers were standard SMB/CIFS print queues. The syntax (UNC) looks like this:
    smb://print_server.domain/queue
(This syntax is invisible to most users printing to AD-published printers (or any network based printer really) . Most users will have no idea what protocols are being used.)
    Procedures:
Part 1: Set up a new printer from an existing AD-published print queue:
From the Apple menu select “System Preferences...” (or launch it from /Applications). The Printer Setup Utility app no longer exists. Apple has discontinued it fro various reasons.
Click on the Printer & Fax pane.
Click the “+” button on the left. This will launch the Apple Printer Browser (called “AddPrinter”, and lives in /System/Library/CoreServices), which looks similar to the previous browser in Tiger. The Printer Browser by default will usually show network printers vai Directory Services (AD/OD etc) as well as Bonjour printers and Mac OS X based shared printers – if they are shared via IPP and LPR under certain circumstances).
Select the desired AD-published print queue you want to print to by highlighting it in the browser list and clicking the “Add” button. (Note: Print queues published via Active Directory will show up as “Open Directory” printers, even though this is not 100% technically correct.)
Before the queue will be added, you will be prompted to authenticate as a local administrator. If you are not an admin you are screwed. Enter your name and password.
Once the print queue is added, it will show up on your Mac in several ways (barring any bugs – see below). Here are the ways to tell if you have added the print queue successfully:
A The new print queue will now be displayed in the Print & Fax system pref pane (but not always – see below).
B You will see a printer proxy application in ~/Library/Printers/ which corresponds to your new print queue. This is the print monitor app that will show up in your Dock when you print to the queue.
C You can see the new print queue via the CUPS admin page at http://localhost:631/printers.
D You can see your new print queue from the Terminal by typing this command: “lpstat –v” (type “man lpstat” for more info on the lpstat and related commands)
E You can also see your printers by launching an print-enabled application such as TextEdit or Safari and printing a page. You will be presented with Leopard’s new print dialog box (which now includes a print preview pane). From the “Printer” drop-down menu you can see all of your printers. You can add a printer from here too (which takes you to the steps listed above)
(of course, most end users will only use option A listed above. The other options are more abstract and complicated)
Now that the AD print queue has been setup on your Mac, you can print to it (maybe).
Part 2: Printing to an AD-published print queue:
Open a document you want to print.
Choose “Page Setup...” from the File menu if you need to configure the job. (Optional)
Choose “Print” from the File menu.
From the Print dialog box, choose the desired print queue from the Printer menu
    Click the Print button.
You will need to authenticate with a valid Active Directory username and password. You don’t have to have administrator credentials, but you have to verify that you are a domain member. In my environment, my Windows print server doesn't require authentication, but for some reason Leopard or CUPS makes you authenticate. (See below). Not only is this a major PIA, but the authentication dialog box itself is formatted to include the wrong credentials format for authentication in the first place.
Volia! Done. Easy huh? Not really. Read on for the ugly stuff.
    My Complaints and Caveats:
OK, so here’s where I vent, complain and scratch my head. Join in on the fun.
Sometimes shared print queues don’t show up in the Print & Fax system preference pane after they have been added. I have no idea why. The local CUPS admin page (http://localhost:631) on my Mac test clients can see the connected queues, and the queues show up in ~/Library/Printers. The “lpstat –v” command shows the connect queues too. But for some reason, sometimes network print queues that I have previously setup (and use regularly) don’t show up in the Leopard Print & Fax preference pane. Local USB printers always show up fine for me.
    2. When challenged to authenticate a print job to a Windows print server (AD), the Mac’s authentication dialog box pre-populates the AD user’s name in the “Name” field incorrectly. Example:
A user named “Joe Is Cool” (short name “JIC”) prints a job to the print server. The print auth dialog box challenges him for a name and password. It is pre-populated already with the name of “Cool, Joe”. When a valid AD password is entered, the job is rejected (it fails authentication and gets put on hold – which is hard to see this unless you explicitly look at the Printer.app proxy tool in the Dock). However, if the user replaces “Cool, Joe” with his official AD short name of “JIC” and then enters his AD password, the print job is accepted and printed. I wish Apple didn’t try and pre-populate the dialog box! Can this be avoided or prevented?
In my environment, my Windows print server doesn't even require authentication, but for some reason Leopard or CUPS makes you authenticate. I’m working with my Windows administrators to figure this out. It will only accept user names with the short name format. It will not accept long (full) names or NT legacy names.
    3) The Printer Setup Utility app, which used to live in /Applications/Utilities, no longer exists. Apple has discontinued it for various reasons. Mainly security and simplicity. I wish it was still available, but the system pref pane works fine (well, usually)
    4) Active Directory-based print queues will show up in the OS X Printer Browser as “Open Directory” printers, even though this is not 100% technically correct. Why can’t OS X tell the difference between OD queues and AD queues and label them as such?
    5) Leopard has locked down the ability to add network printers. You now must be a local administrator in 10.5 or later. I understand the importance of this security measure in certain environments, but why can’t there be an option in the Security preference pane to “Allow non-admins to add printers”? This would make me very happy.
    6) Setting the default printer and resetting the CUPS system now require you to right-click in the left side of the Print & Fax pane. There no longer is a button or menu option to do this.
    7) Sometimes after a job has printed the printer proxy app (from ~/Library/Printers) stays in the Dock and won’t go away.
    Conclusion
Please chime in on your experiences, bugs, opinions and comments.

I have noticed several of the changes in our system when printing to an AD printer from a Leopard client. I have one issue that is pretty odd and I'm not sure what is going on. When printing an Excel worksheet, I get prompted for AD credentials. After submitting the job, the print queue says "Waiting for Authentication", I have to press the Resume button and then the authentication dialog pops up. I successfully authenticate (My auth dialog is populated correctly and the remember to keychain option is selected) and the job prints fine. If I print the same document again (without closing the worksheet or Excel), or any other worksheet, I still have to reauth. I can print just fine to the same printer from Textwriter and I do not need to authenticate. Weird...

  • Printer connected, printer works, but won't print from Mac

I'm helping someone with a printer problem, and I have a mystery on my hands.
The printer is connected (directly), shows up in the printer list, can print a test page, but won't print any document from this computer (it's fine from my laptop).
    It's a Mid-2011 Mini, 2.3Ghz, running 10.7.5. The printer is an Epson WF-2540.
This is a USB printer, connected directly to their Mac.
In "Settings", when you select Print/FAX and print a "Test Page" - Success! This is a process that invokes the Epson Driver directly [and bypasses the MAC print queuing mechanism]
When "Printing" from within any application (firefox, TextEdit, winders...)   The job starts to queue, but errors before engaging the printer.
R & R the Epson Drivers,  Clear the Printer "stuff" on the Mac, Reinstall drivers from the Epson website, Mac wants to update the "newest" Epson Drivers (kinda' funny when I think about it...).
    Still errors.
I attached directly to a USB port on my MacBook Pro.  Download drivers, etc..  Works like a champ!
We have deleted the printer from System Prefs, rebooted, and added it back.
We have even gone into Terminal and...
    sudo bash
    cd /etc/cups/ppd
    ls
    found EPSON_WF_2540_Series.ppd
    cp * /var/tmp/
    ls /var/tmp/*.ppd
    rm /etc/cups/ppd/*
    Still doesn't work.
    Anybody have any suggestions?

Hi, it's not clear... did you Rest the Printing system on the Mac?
    10.5/10.6/10.7/10.8 instructions...
In System Preferences>Fax & Print, Right click or Control+click on the Printers list Sidebar, choose Reset Printing System.
if you hold option and click the "-" tab it resets the printing system.
    http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20031215144430486
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions.
Any devices that previously appeared in your Printer List and Fax List will need to be added again after resetting the printing system.
Resetting the printing system in Mac OS X 10.5.x+++
        1.    To use the Reset Printing System feature in Mac OS X 10.5.x, follow these steps:
        2.    Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu.
        3.    Choose Print & Fax from the View menu.
        4.    Control-click on list of printers on the left side of the window, then choose "Reset printing system" from the contextual menu. If you don't see a list of printers, Control-click on the text "Click + to add a printer or fax" and select "Reset printing system..."

As an alternative, if you currently have one or more printers listed, you can Option-click the "-" (Remove printer) button.

    Reboot.

  • Eprint submissions not showing up in hpconnected print queue

I've used eprint for a year or more; suddenly it's not working and the files I submit by email are not even showing up in the hpconnected print queue, under collections.
I have tried several types of files tonight - short emails, word documents, etc, in case a virus was somehow attached. I've submitted from a mobile device and a desktop.
    The print queue remains empty.
I have tried from 2 email addresses, both of which I've confirmed tonight are  authorized email addresses.

    HI Kelownatom,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums.  I understand that your ePrint jobs are no longer printing and are not showing up in your HP Connected account's print history section.
To better assist you, would you please provide some further information:
Is the ePrint email address in your HP connected account showing the same email address that is being used by your devices?
Is web services still active on your printer?
Is the blue wireless light turned on and not flashing on the front panel of the printer?
How are you sending the ePrint jobs (sending an email to the printer and attaching a file, forwarding an email to the printer with the file attached, sending via the HP ePrint app or the HP All-in-One Printer  Remote app)?
One easy step to try is to power off your printer using the on/off button, wait 15 seconds and then turn the printer back on.
    Thank you.

  • Server Print Queue Clogging

Hi, I am running Leopard Server in a small office with mixed Windows XP, Vista and Mac 10.6 clients. I am not an IT administrator, but I own the company and have been teaching myself on a DIY basis. These forums are a very helpful source of information for me.
We have a DELL MFP 1600n printer connected to the server via USB. Users can print to the printer. However, very frequently, the print queue will get clogged or jammed and the network printer will go into a paused state. It usually happens when a user tries to print a PDF or .jpg file. I resolve the problem by going manually into the print queue through System Preferences on the server and deleting the PDF or jpg, clicking resume, and then the remaining docs in the queue usually print as normal.
I don't see why I am getting so many frequent clogs/jams in the first place -- the Dell specs show it has 32MB of RAM so shouldn't it be able to handle a moderately large PDF?
Is there a special method for configuring printer services on Leopard Server that will help resolve this problem? Do I need a different printer?
Also, can I assign a user limited privileges that would enable him/her to go in and clear the jammed print queue without giving full access to everything else on the server? Currently, only I can do it and it is a hassle because it needs to be done at least once per day.

Magnify your issue by 145 and that is what I've been dealing with. I'm running a print server with 145 printers and 1800 users, and until recently, I've had to periodically clear the queues and un-pause the printers. Huge PITA.
I still don't know what is causing certain jobs to pause the printers, but here's how I am managing the symptoms to this problem.
Create a launchdaemon to run periodically (mine runs every 120 seconds)
Have it run a script with the following two lines:
    cancel -a `lpstat -t | grep disabled | awk '{print $2}'`
    cupsenable `lpstat -t | grep disabled | awk '{print $2}'`
The first line cancels all jobs in paused printers.
The second line re-enables any paused printers.
It won't stop certain jobs from hanging the printer, but it will "un-stick" them and eliminate the huge backlog of jobs that pile up as a result of it being paused all day.
FYI...we are running mostly Xerox Phaser 8550 and 8560 printers.
    Hope this helps.

    Welcome to the forums Novacco!
I saw your post about not being able to scan from 3 Admin. Accounts from your PC. I would like to offer my suggestion that may help you.
Try these troubleshooting steps on all 3 of the user accounts that are unable to scan: Windows: HP Scan Software Does Not Open or Scan on a Printer Using a USB Connection

  • Print Queue Auto Stop

Just though I'd share this with others.
Unlike Tiger, the printer queues would not quit automatically on Leopard after a job is finished. The solution was simple.
If no queue is running, go to System Preferences > Print & Fax. Click on ANY installed printer then click on the 'Open Print Queue' button.
Now navigate to the Dock, control-click (or Right Click) on the running Printer Queue. In the pop up menu is "Auto Quit" (right above "Keep In Dock"), click on it so it is check marked. Now ANY Printer Queue will quit when the job(s) are finished. Making just one Printer Queue "Auto Quit" sets it for all installed printers!
Seems I've been fortunate and have had no problems with my 5 printers transitioning to Leopard, so I hope this tip is helpful to others.
    Cheers

Thanks for this info. Just what I need. Not intuitive at all. Jim

  • Auto-close print queue windows after my job finishes?

Whenever I print something, a window for the printer opens up showing me the current print queue. That's great. What's not-so-great is me having to keep on closing those windows after they open.
Is there a way for those windows to close themselves after my print job finishes?
    Thanks.

Thanks! (I haven't actually tested it yet, but I did bring the printer up in the dock and set the "Auto-Quit" function, so it at least seems plausible that it will work.)
Perhaps a new low in Apple UI design: an option -only- accessible via a Dock Menu?
