I have been working on BW 3.1and 3.5. Now we are supposed to start off a new project on BI7.0. Can any body please suggest the methodology to start off the project from business content installation and the major diff' from other verisons . also a list of do's and do not's.

New BOBJ 4.0 Implementation, impact to existing BW 7

Hello all,
We're in the preliminary stages of getting our BOBJ 4.0 Implementation project going. I had a question for which I haven't been able to get a straight answer on. Background Info: we have an existing BW 7 system with approximately 500 users, low to moderate activity. We plan to deploy BOBJ mostly for Dashboards and drill down capabilities; the user count is not expected to increase any time soon, only the number of reports.
I have gone throught the sizing exercise for the BOBJ piece, but I haven't found anything which tells me what kind of additional load I should expect on my BW backend systems due to this new implementation. Does any one know how this is determined? Or if there's any impact caused by the integration of BOBJ to the backend BW systems?

Hello,
there will be impact depending on how you use BOBJ. If you use a lot of On- Demand queries from BOBJ against the BW the load will be during business hours. If you use the Scheduling option of BOBJ the reports will be refreshed after the BW is loaded.
You cant really determine the new load which is coming with BOBJ. Report design is here also key. If the Reports fetch may to much data as original needed the load will be also more on BW side.
I would recommend you are upgrading your BW to 7.3. With this release the BOBJ tools can use the BICS interface natively. This will be much faster.

New MS BPC V10 implementation - migrate user rights, reports, etc

Hi all,
I am new on BPC but had have already been involved on some other SAP implementations such as BO.
We are trying to move our BPC V10 Microsoft infrastructure from the Partner (who is supporting it) Domain Controller to ours. We decided to start from a new implementation of the BPC server then migrate the environment/models and files thanks to the server manager.
The current BPC is using IPS (with LDAP authentication) as a console management to create users then import them in BPC admin. We would like to simply configure our new BPC implementation with AD authentication straight in BPC without using IPS.
My question is:
Do you think it will be safe to do it that way?
Do you think there could be an issue regarding the user ownership of reports, user right configuration, etc?
Please any advise would be very helpful.

Hi Jawad,
I don't know IPS but I can give you some answer about BPC.
" regarding the user ownership of reports" BPC give you just the possibility to create bpf or custom menu where you can put links for specific reports but a smart user can open a report directly from menu "open dynamic template" and execute it.
You can give rights through security e.g. giving to one user the access only for one or some entities, or limiting other dimensions so even if he's able to open a reports not present in his bpf he cannot run it for oter entities or dimension values different from his security rights.
For packages you can insert some specific package in the team folder in this case only member of the team are able to see and execute this package.
Putting packages in company will give the possibility to all the teams/users that have the rights to execute packages to see and launch every package.
There is only a limit for the security, you cannot combine different dimension values to have specific rights, e.g. if you give rights for entity "A" and category "X", and also for Entity "B" and category "Y" you will not give the possibility to write only in category "X" when the user set entity "A", etc. but he will be able to use indiferently both categories and entities.

[Web Dynpro]How to add a new function in the implementation of a view?

Hi, all,
   I'm trying to add a inputfield check method in the viewname.java , the method is used to check all the 12 inputfields in the view, at least one inputfield should be filled.(Is there any other methods I can use to do this job?)
however, when I clicked the save meta data button, the function disappeared from the viewname.java. The import statements were still there and showed that they are never used...
   Could you please give me some hints to avoiding this?
   I want to save my function in the viewname.java.

New PC, How do implement?

OK, I am a newbie to this topic... I have been using the i-POD touch for some time now, many free application, couple purchased, same for music, contacts of course, normal stuff...
I just purchased a new PC, installed i-tunes... and can not see a sync to transfer all my i-pod touch "stuff" to the new i-tunes/new PC... In fact, it looks like it only offers sync to wipe out all the stuff in my i-pod.... Sure enough on this...
Question, how do I transfer from my i-pod so I can do a sync to i-tunes on my new PC?
Set-up - I may have to manually do this, no problem but backup restore would be great as I had trouble setting up some of the e-mail POP correctly and I may miss something.
Contacts - I do not want to lose all of these.
Music - both purchased and what I have burned
Applications - both purchased and free
Browser - saved links
I can sync photos again, np here.
So I called apple and they are sending an e-mail on doing some transfers but everything is so easy on apple.. but this seems a bit akward.. Any suggestions would be appreciated..
This has to have been covered many times and I will do a search as well. Thanks in advance..

The iOS devices like your iPod are to be an extension of your information on your computer. It is true that when you add new or modify data on the device it is updated on your computer, but the data transfer setup is not designed to create new databases on your computer. The path of data exchange needs to start from your computer.
What you want to do is move your old user data (Documents folder) from your old system, have that recognized by your respective apps and iTunes, which will yes, remove the existing and replace what is currently on your iPod with new data (which should be the same) when synced. This would be the ideal method. To ensure that nothing is missed you can search for some 3rd party applications that allow you to make backups of all your data manually. The should also allow you to copy data back after your new sync as well. Sorry, being a entirely MacOS house I cannot recommend which program to try on the windows side.

We have implemented SAP ECC 6.0 in our company, our Organization decided to implement SolMan SP15. I will be a part of the team to implement SolMan. Just give a background of my experience, I am a MM Consultant.
I need some direction from the Experts, first from where to start. Any relevant links to the right documents will be very helpful.
Secondly for a SolMan consultant what should be the prerequisite from the previous experience point out view. It is required that the candidate to have SAP Basis knowledge.
Any helpful guidelines and links to the material will be highly appreciated.

For you it is better to go to Solution manager functional role...or Solution consultant
which is actually involved in implementation point of view.
For you it is not required to learn basis........for e.g u r gng to do a ECC implementation ....wht is req from u will be
Basis will set up landscape RFC logical component etc
And you will create a project in solmaan do the blueprint in Solar01 etc.......for satellite ECC system
and Even in the operation like Service Desk /CHARMS etc....can BASIS go and understand client processes ....and implement it in solman service desk.
I dont think so....basis install solman and activate bc sets and do some basic configuration.....
there after there are lot of CRM sort of configration like Sold to party and other BP creation with determination rule which is ofcourse can be done by you as u being functional role understand the ORG hierarchy of the client.SLA implementation etc.

When to upgrade DAC to 10.1.3.4 during new multi-source OBIA implementation

I want to take advantage of the multi-source capabilities of DAC 10.1.3.4 on OBIA 7.9.5 as I need to bring in data from several production EBS instances. Do I need to create the Data Warehouse tables via DAC 7.9.5 or upgrade the Windows DAC client and Linux DAC server right after installation and proceed with the rest of the OBIA Installation and Configuration steps from Chapter 4? Also, given a Linux Informatica 8.1.1 Server, should the DAC client's INFA_DOMAINS_FILE point to the Linux domains.infa file instead of the dummy Windows one installed to create the pmcmd.exe executable?

You can only use the DAC 10.1.3.4 against an instance that is fully configured and running. This install is primarily intend to improve the ease with which to stand up additional Admin users. You must complete all of the steps first before you can install the standalone client (1. Install on Windows, 2. Migrate to Linux, 3. Run the Warehouse tool from the original Windows install (the preferred method).
INFA_DOMAINS_FILE is only needed on the server instance. The client tools do not need it to communicate with the Services.
Just to let you know you will not be able to connect to the Informatica 8.1.1 SP4 Server if it was not configured with a Fully Qualified Domain Name.
The following note from My.Informatica.com (ID:18672) provides the resolution. Disregard the 8.1.0 specifics, it will work for 8.1.1

Unable to use fully qualified server name to connect to domain using the PowerCenter 8.1 client
Problem Description
During the configuration of the domain in the PowerCenter 8.1 clients (Designer, Workflow Manager, etc.), the value for the gateway host is automatically reverted to the simple hostname. This can cause problems in a networked environment, like a WAN, where the fully qualified server name is needed( Example: server123 is used instead of server123.europe.informatica.com ).
The following error may also occur:
Unable to get repositories for domain xxxxx
Error: [PCSF_46008] cannot connect to domain [xxxxx] to look up service [coreservice][DomainConfigurationService]
Solution
If there is only one client, changing the hosts file on the client machine is sufficient. On the client machine, in the file C:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc\hosts , add the required line.
Example:
10.0.0.0 server123.europe.informatica.com
To make a system-wide change, you need to modify the domain information in the following way:
1.
Go to \informatica\pc810\server.
2.
Run the infasetup backupdomain command.
Example:
infasetup backupdomain -da host:port -du user -dp password -dt Oracle -ds SID -bf domain.xml -dn domain
Successfully backed up domain [domain] to file [domain.xml]
3. Edit the xml file, and replace the existing <host> tag
Example:
Change <host>server123</host> to <host>server123.europe.informatica.com</host> .
4.
Save the xml file, and restore it into the domain with the command "infasetup restoredomain".
Example:
infasetup restoredomain -da host:port -du user -dp password -dt Oracle -ds SID -bf domain.xml -force
Successfully restored domain [domain] from file [domain.xml] .
5.
Verify that the fully qualified hostname is listed in the file nodemeta.xml in \pc810\server\config
6.
Restart the Informatica services with the new server name

For Value type in BW we have 10-Actual 20-Plan 60 Forecast.
Our client has some adjustments to be carried out and hence we intend to have actual adjustment -11 and plan adjustment as 21.
We know by Note 523742 - BCT-CO: BW key figure model and R/3 tables for trans. data that the actual R/3 values are different like 1- plan 4- target etc. There are conversion routines on COSP and COSS tables to convert the data on BW.
Can we add our new types and change the conversion exits.

Payments in AP can be done in two ways
1...Automatic payment program F110
F110 generates the payments based on the configuration you specify in vendor master data , APP program configuration F110 e.t.c. Invoices routed through MM using MIRO r booked directly using FB60 in FI are paid automatically by using F110 based on the configuration and parameter you entered in FBZP and F110.
2...Manual Payments F-53
Manual payments are chosen by company as an alternate to APP. Open vendor invoices are manually chosen in F-53 for payment purpose.
Down payment to vendor are made using F-48 and this should preferably be done with reference to PO
If you have MM module working in your organization then you should preferably book you all payments with reference to Purchase Order and hence you will need to make PO field mandatory for all posting keys in OB41 used for vendor payment processing.

I have been using CC for over a year now. How will the new transition work to the new CC apps? the MAX video showed a new application manager system/app, which looked different than the current application manager.

JNA isn't part of the JVM or JRE so you can't expect the JVM to call it.

Problem with using newer jsf implementation

Is it possible to use jsf-libraries from wls 10.3.1 on 10.3.0?
Or how to use newer version of jsf implementation than JSF RI 1.2_03 on wls 10.3?
I have also use RichFaces 3.3.1 and when I have tried to use Mojarra 1.2_12 richfaces components haven't worked correctly.

The problem is that I use annotations like @EJB, so ...

BDLS failed in new system

Hi all,
We are experiencing an error when runing BDLS in SAP BW 7.0.
To give you an overview, I am working on a new production system called BWP (copy of an acceptance system).
Attached to this new BW system, we have a new source system called BRP.
In order to change the source system of the old system, I run BDLS (after a successfull test run) with the second option (following a client copy). I noticed that unfortunately, nothing was changed.
So, I decided to run BDLS again with the first option.
First, I did a successfull test run, and I noticed that much more table will be converted.
After the test run, I launched the real conversion...
Unfortunately, after a while, BDLS is stop and I have the following message:
"The datasource XX_XX_XXXX_XXXX(BRP100)" does not exist in object version A".
On my side I tried lot of things:
- I tried to activate the datasource, but it's not working.
- I tried to change value in the table RSDS (datasource) but one more time it didn't worked.
- I tried to reconnect the original system to replicate the datasource in order to activate it, but it didn't work.-
Do you have any ideas how to bypass this error?

This is error code RSDS062. It means that the datasource cannot be found in the tbl RSDS.
So search in RSDS for the datasource, & check what version it is.
If OBJVER is M, then it must be activated.
Did you follow SAP Note 886102 for the system copy?
You need to follow each step of the scenario pertaining to your copy.
When running BDLS, generally four scenarios can happen:
1) no records for either the old or the new name -> table skipped
2) records with the old name exist -> conversion goes through
3) records with the new name exist -> table skipped with warning =>
    manual intervention needed, but doublecheck is recommended. In th
    case the conversion log shows '<<' at the affected tables.
4) records with the old and the new name coexist -> records are skip
    with warning or error (depending on the flag for existence check,
    which is always set except test conversions) -> you have to analy
    the records and to manually delete that records which hold the ol
    logical name and have their identical counterparts which are hold
    the new name.

New GL and Impact on BI Financial statement reports

Dear All,
I would like to know if and how the finacial statment reports would be affected by using the new GL extractor 0FI_GL_14. New GL is being implemented on ECC, hence the change in extractor in BI.
Is there a standard cube that can be used for Financial statement reports(Balance Sheet comparision, BS by PC,P&L reporting by PC) for New GL.
Currently we are getting our financial statement reports out of a Virtual cube which is based on a function module Module:RS_BCT_FIGL_DATA_GET_VC1.
*Our current extractor for FIGL is 0FI_GL_4 .

How to start building new screens in ORPOS 13.0.2

Hi All,
I am very new to ORPOS UI implementation/customization.
I am in process of customization/ changing the UI for POS Client.
Read the Operation Guide and it is very useful to start with.
But I am facing difficulties in setting my Eclipse to run the application :(
Following are the steps performed by me: -
1. Downloaded the source code
2. Loaded all the directories from the source code in Eclipse
3. Compiled the source. Got 1000's of errors.
4. Added the jars in the same order as mentioned in the operation guide.
5. Still the same. Not able to proceed further.
Someone please help me on how to set up my Eclipse to run the ORPOS Client application.
What are all the directories to be loaded in the Eclipse for UI development and running the application(TierLoader class) ?
Please provide me your expert advice and help me in getting started with ORPOS development.
