Region alignment: Restart table?
I have 2 regions in the same page template position (3. items above region content), one of them in column 1 and another in column 2, they appear right next to each other with no wasted space.
But as soon as I add another region in a "lower" position (Region position #2), I find that a lot of white space appears between the 2 regions above.
How can I control this? What I need is a "stop and restart table" region that I can put right after the 2 side-by-side regions so the lower region doesn't affect the other regions's placement.
Any ideas? apex.oracle.com is down right now so I couldn't review Carl's layout examples.
Hi,
there is a special item type called "Stop and start table" which does exactly what you want.

How can I right-align a table header?
Does anyone know a way to right-align a table header?
For example, in the table below I want the word 'Price' to be right-aligned. I could set the table's 'header renderer' to be a right-aligned DefaultTableCellRenderer, but then the header would look like a cell, not a header. Why can't swing be simple, like table.getColumn(1).setAlignment(Column.RIGHT) ????
public class TestTableHeader {
public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception {
JFrame frame = new JFrame("Test");
Object[][] rowData = new Object[][] { { "General Electric", "$100.60" },
{ "IBM", "$5.20" }, { "Wal-mart", "$17.00" } };
JTable table = new JTable(rowData, new Object[] { "Name", "Price" });
DefaultTableCellRenderer renderer = new DefaultTableCellRenderer();
renderer.setHorizontalAlignment(DefaultTableCellRenderer.RIGHT);
table.getColumnModel().getColumn(1).setCellRenderer(renderer);
frame.getContentPane().add(new JScrollPane(table));
frame.setSize(400, 300);
frame.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.DISPOSE_ON_CLOSE);
frame.setVisible(true);
}I modified your code an came up with a solution to the problem.

Vertical Alignment in table columns
Using JHeadstart 10.1.3.4.
Different display types are differently positioned in table columns. Single text seems vertically centered; text fields with multiple lines are vertically aligned at the top of a table column; vertical radio buttons are vertically aligned at the bottom of a table column. The resulting display is quite messy.
I have not found any formating option in JHeadStart that allows for controlling vertical alignment. Am I a missing something?
If JHeadStart 10g does not support controlling vertical alignment directly, how should this be handled? Does JHeadStart 11g add such vertical alignment support?Hello,
If you need anything special considering vertical alignment in tables, you can simply perform that in the resulting JSPX page. In other words, just alter the JSPX file to whatever you need.
Save your customizations in JHeadstart using velocity templates, so your page is regenerateable while keeping your changes. See the JHeadstart Developers Guide on how to change such customizations in the templates.
Also in release 11 there is no vertical alignment (yet); I suppose because for most tables, each row just has a single line and vertical alignment is therefore not needed. However, I have put it on the wish-list, so we will check on it later. Thanks!

How to fire "table change" once click other regions outside the table erea?
I have a JTable created with DefaultTableModel. Usually the edit behavior of table cell is like this:
1) Select one cell, it is highlighted in blue.
2) Double click the cell, it's made editable with white background.
3) Two scenarios
(a) Once finish edit, press "Enter", the cell background turns from white to blue. At the same time, the table change is "fired" .
(b) Once finish edit, click another cell, the originall cell turns white, and the new-clicked cell is highlighted in blue. At the same time, the table change is "fired".
4) While editing one cell, and click somewhere OUTSIDE the table area. In this case, the table change is NOT fired.
[This cause a confusion, user sees the changed text in table cell, but actually it is not stored and will not be stored in the table.]
So what I want to implement is: once click the region outside the table, the text in that editabe cell (where you are just editing) is stored and fired.
Can you help me? Thanks in advance!sabre150 & other experts,
[see background in my first message]
User is still not completely satisfied with the current behavior, though "table changed" can be fired when clicking other controls(eg. buttons or checkboxes).
If I click a panel region(instead of a particular control), the "table changed" can not be fired. However, it is expected.
I guess the reason is:
a panel doesn't has a focus. so when clicking panel, the focus is not "lost" to the table cell.
Any hints? -

Hi,
I would like to center a region in one of my pages.
I do not want to edit the Template, because that will modify all my pages in the application.
I tried to select column #2 in the User Interface section, but it keeps aligning left.
Is there anyway to center the regions without modifying the page template.
Thanks
VCKeep your region on column #2.
In the same display point, but in columns 1 and 3, create empty HTML regions with the option "No template".
In both of those regions populate the field "Region HTML table cell attributes" with the value:
width=100% -
I would like to reduce the space between the regions in several different columns and align them on the left side of my screen. However, when I use "Region HTML table cell attributes: width=?%" the horizontal alignment is not there any more. I have an example here:
http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=31517:1
This should make clear what I want to do - to bring the regions closer to each other as shown on the lower display point (region 4 to 6) but to keep the horizontal alignment as it is on the upper display point (region 1 to 3).
Any ideas on how to do this?
Thanks in advance,
Denes KubicekDenes,
Sounds like a job for CSS. Have you this demo?
http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=11933:9:6911156340709962476::NO:RP::
Apologies, can't remember who's demo site it is so I can't assign any credit for it! Some really cool ideas though ; )

Hi fac586
Can you please tell me step by step how to do it or can you please make an example in apex.oracle.com and give me the credentials so that i can know clarify my doubts.1. Create a Form using a Wizard. This will create the items and processes necessary to retrieve data from, and perform DML on, the table. The items will be contained in a single default region.
2. Create custom HTML regions on page.
3. Move items and buttons from the default region created by the Form Wizard by changing the Region value in the "Displayed" section of the item attributes page, or Page Items page; or reassign items to regions using the Reassign Region Items page. -

I opted to leave the attribute set field to blank, but when i run my xml i get the following error. Please assist.

BUTTON CLICK ON SEARCH ITEM CAUSES OTHER REGIONS (FORM) IN TABLE TO ERRORS
Hello,
I dont know if I have come to a limitation or flaw of the XE or is it me who does not know how to. (probably me)
The thing is that I have in one page, one standard form for entering data and one report output table to show them. This output table has incorporated that built-in feature of Search
Now, what happens, if I click on the search button to locate a record in the Report table, as the full page reloads, then the Form region also loads but as it has no data, in the effect of being reloaded activates its button of submit, bringing my report table to all errors as it is getting null values which are not allowed. I really need the search feature because otherwise users can have the more and more unconfortable time to locate things as the table grows to thousands of rows.
any help would be greatly appreciated
kindest regards
AlvaroHi,
My first option probably do not even work. I did mean put expression "GO" as I understand go button submit request GO.
And now when I think it is validations that gives those errors. Right ?
So you need set that condition "PL/SQL function body returning a Boolean" to after submit validations
RETURN :REQUEST IN('SAVE','CREATE');Sorry, about confusion
Automatic Row Processing (DML) process that actually insert/update/delete is anyway run only when certain submit requests
>
Valid Update Request Values: SAVE, APPLY CHANGES, UPDATE, UPDATE ROW, CHANGE, APPLY, APPLY%CHANGES%, GET_NEXT%, GET_PREV%
Valid Insert Request Values: INSERT, CREATE, CREATE_AGAIN, CREATEAGAIN
Valid Delete Request Values: DELETE, REMOVE, DELETE ROW, DROP

Wee inconsistency in region template "Form Table Attributes"
In the region template definition there is a field for specifying form table attributes. If I specify table attribute(s) they work as expected. If I then add an item type of "Stop and start table" to the region, the custom attributes are not used in the subsequent tables.
It's a minor thing... perhaps this can be fixed (or has been fixed) in 3.0?Atul:
I dont know what the 'Alternate Source' is
In the Source section set
Source value or expression to be the name of the database column that has the URL (company_url)
Post calculation Computation to be '<a h ref="' || :pxx_company_url || '">' || :pxx_company_url || '</a>'; where pxx_company_url is the page-item name.
I have specified 'h ref' instead of 'href' so that the forum software doesnt mess up the post.

ADF Faces - ConvertNumber, aligning in table column
Is there a way in ADF Faces to display a table with a column of currency figures, with possible trailing sign for negatives, aligned on the decimal point? With a total at the bottom? These seem like such elementary requirements, but I can find no reference to them in the documentation. ConvertNumber javadocs mentions a pattern property, but no details of what constitutes a pattern.
Any help gratefully received.Hi,
drag and drop the ConvertNumber component and double click on it in the StructureWindow of the page (strl+shift+s). This brings up a dialog that provides help when moving the mouse over the labels
As a pattern try e.g. 0000.00
The currency can be specified in the last field as the type. The symol can be expressed as a character $ or in ISO format USD
There is no native component to compute the total, but since the table shows the values in page ranges, you can add a output field and compute this information in a backing bean

Region formatting - multiple tables inside one region?
Hey there. first of all, I wondered if anyone had a good reference for formatting regions. I am having some difficulty finding good material.
What I am trying to do is create 3 tables inside a region, each with different backgrounds, displayed side by side. like this:
| | |
I'm completely at a loss as of how to get the next table to come back up to the top. I am using template 16, which puts a border around regions and makes them minimize-able, so I want it to be all or nothing. any help in this formatting dilemma would be awesome.

in3dI need to do something similar but I wasn't sure what you meant by:
and wrap each of the report tables within DIV tags.I have one region based on one sql query. I just need to display fields I specified on the one sql query to appear in 3 different columns in the region.
Could anybody give some more details on this?
Thanks! -
On many of our tables, we want the contents of cells to be
vertically aligned to the top of the cell. RH is vertically
centering everything. Is there any way to force alignment to the
top of the cell?It is a bug in the editor. Generate an output and you will see it is displayed correctly.
See www.grainge.org for RoboHelp and Authoring tips -
Vertical alignment in table cells not working in generated output
Using RH9 WebHelp. I have created a simple table style. Because I could not find out how to make cell vertical alignment (top, center, bottom) part of the style definition, I have been applying it manually to individual whole tables using the cell alignment properties.
This worked fine for a while, but at some point I noticed that even though the tables look right in Design view, with top-aligned cells contents, it gets hosed in generating output and all tables now come with vertically centred cell contents even through the in-line formatting for top alignment is still there in the code.
Any ideas?Hi Mike,
I'm confused to where you applied the vertical alignment. Normally, I would set this for the table cells and not the table.
CSS has indeed an order in rendering: There is a point system for determining the CSS to apply. See http://net.tutsplus.com/tutorials/html-css-techniques/quick-tip-understanding-css-specific ity/ for a short introduction.
And as an extra to the point system, the place where the styling is present, also determines the styling. Browsers use the following hierarchy (in descending order)
User style sheet defined in the browser.
Inline styling.
Style block in page.
External style sheet
You can overwrite styling from a lower order using the !important declaration. You can use this to make sure that inline styling will not be able to overwrite styles from your style sheet. (Unless the inline styles use !important themselves.) Example:
table.mytable td {
vertical-align: middle !important;
This will make all the content of table cells in the table with the class mytable to be vertically centered.

Willam

What is the latest Safari revision for Mac OSX 10.4.11
I have a vintage Mac G3 B/W Desktop PPC, which still operates perfectly. But, at times Safari 4.1.3. periodically crashes. Is there a later revision that I can upgrade to? Software Update says the computer is up to date.
