Regional Setting changing "True" to "Vrai" in France

Portal 5.0.2, classic ASP. Our report is based on several boolean parameters. The form is submitted by a VBScript function which sets the parameters to a boolean to true or false. Our French users are receiving errors when this function is called - according the POST data in the error page, the "true" has become "vrai" - which it sees as a string. We did not have this problem before 5.0.2, I'm not sure where to start with this one. Will my german users also see "wahr" and "unwahr"?
Wendy RamsaurKSA

A boolean variable will have the value true or false. That value only becomes a string when there is a conversion from boolean to string. For example, the following VBScript code converts a boolean to a string:
Dim bVBBoolDim strVBBoolbVBBool = truestrVBBool = CStr(bVBBool)
or this Javsscript code which converts a boolean to a string:
var bBool = new Boolean(1);var strBool = bBool.toString();
In VBScript, the assumption is that you are converting the boolean to a string for the purpose of displaying the value to an end user. So it attempts to "display" the value in the most suitable way for the end user. In the localized French IE, VBScript will convert the booleanvalue true to the string"vrai".
If you call a VBScript function passing a boolean value on the same page, then the boolean will never be converted to a string and there will be no problem. When you try to pass a boolean value back to the server through a form parameter, that value must be converted to a string since that is the only way to send the value over Http. The best solution is to realize that there could be conversion error and pass an integer instead of a boolean. You might also have a similar problem if you were passing a datetime value. A datetime value internally is just a number. But if you try to pass it as a form parameter, then it will be converted to a string (and formatted according to some locale). The best bet is to proactively format in a locale neutral fashion so that the server will always know how to interpret the datetime regardless of the version of IE or the locale of the user.

  • How to change regional setting in group policy?

    Hi guys,
    I have some problem with updating regional setting via group policy.
    On the windows server 2008 r2.
    User Configuration\Preferences\Control Panel Settings\Regional option.
    On the Regional option, I clicked add and i set the short date formal dd-MMM-yy. But after clicking apply and ok again if i right click the same regional setting , the short date used to change to M/d/yyyy again to the default.
    Therefore please anyone who has the solution for this issue , please help me..

    Hi,
    >>But after clicking apply and ok again if i right click the same regional setting , the short date used to change to M/d/yyyy again to the default.
    What's the color of the underline of the setting? If it's Red, to enable the setting configured, you need to press F6 to make the underline turn
    Green.

  • Regional Setting

    Hi
    After changing the "Regional Setting" and refreshing the BW query, BW is working different depending on the Computer Regional Setting.

  • Can I set autoSubmit="true" and partial trigger in Application Def. Editor?

    Hello Expert,
    Can I set autoSubmit="true" and partial trigger or other properties through JHeadstart Application Definition Editor?
    If I have changed the layout or add item though the Def. Editor, I have to regenerate and the manually modification
    on jsff will be overridden. Any suggestion to solve this problem?
    So far I know the page generation can be disabled, however, what if I have to regenerate the definition but want
    to remain the manual modification in Jsff?
    Thanks
    Neon

    Neon,
    You can use the "Depends on Item" property in the application definition editor. You can set this property on an item, or an item region, region container.
    The items that is specified as depends on item, will get autoSubmit="true" and the dependent items of region will get partial triggers that listen to the depends on item.
    Even if you need settings you can't generate, there is no need to switch off generation of the entire page.
    We never do this, we always specify custom templates for the bits and pieces of the page that we want to customize.
    Have you read section 4.7 "Customizing Using Generator Templates" in JHeadstart Developer's Guide?

  • Why only 5 region code changes?

    Hi. I recently got a new G5 and tried to play my 1st DVD and got the warning that I must set the region code and will only be able to change it 5 times before its permanently set. Why on earth would Apple ever put a limit on the number of times I can change the region code?This seems extremly inconvienent. I know theres alot of people who have DVDs from different regions and naturally want to be able to view them by changing the region code whenever needed. I read a couple previous threads on this general topic and want to make sure I understand correctly.......is it true that theres no 'fix' for this (other than buying an external drive which is a very expensive workaround for some of us).( I hav'nt set the code at all so far)? I think some DVD players have a "multi-region" setting but I assume this is not an option with the mac?.Thanks.

    It's not by Apple's choice. By licensing requirements of the owners of the DVD technology, computer DVD players and computer DVD drives limit you to five region changes before the drive locks to the region of the last DVD you use. Once the drive locks, you cannot play disks from any other region with the Apple DVD Player, and the drive itself may be locked as well.
    Try VLC Media Player which reportedly can bypass the region lock. VLC Media Player is very much a work in progress, but it's worth a try. There are also some hacks floating around that can reset the region lock on some drives. You use them at your own risk; in some cases the hacks have permanently disabled the drive and such damage will not be covered under warranty. I'd suggest, though, that you make sure that the last disk you use is from the region you play most often. That way DVD Player will work at least the majority of the time.
    Hope this helps.

    See if the content of [this|http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms227600(VS.80).aspx] will help.
    The other option is to install CR 2008 designer on that computer - temporarily as a test only. Run the report in the designer and see if it works. Sometimes the designer will give you different error or better clues as to what is going on. E.g.; this could even be a database issue. An eval of CR 2008 is available from [here|http://www.sap.com/solutions/sapbusinessobjects/sme/freetrials/index.epx]

  • Currency in report taken from regional setting and not infocube

    Dear All,
    I am facing very strange issue. I am using BEx analyzer 7.0
    I executed a report in Windows 2000, Excel 2003. The values are displayed correctly with currency which is in cube irrespective of the currency set in regional option in control panel.
    We are doing testing on windows vista and excel 2007 as we will upgrade to SAP GUI 7.10 and windows vista. I executed the report and the result values are matching but the currency is differant. The currency is taken from the regional settings in control panel. If I go to regional setting and change the currency, the report which is open in BEx analyzer changes the currency.
    We are facing this strange issue for only queries on 1 infocube. Other queries on another infocubes/multicubes are working fine.
    Has anyone faced the same issue. Please provide some pointers/solutions for above issue.
    Regards,
    Niraj

    Hi Shalu
    The Library 0FL has 4 currencies... i.e.
    HSL  - Local Currency
    TSL   - Transaction Curre
    KSL  - Second Currency
    OSL  - Third Currency
    Go to GRR2 (Report form of your report), and double click on any column... You choose Key Figures in the Columns in a areport painter report... there you would have chosen any one of these currencies...
    Right click on the column and Copy it and paste it... Now change the Key Figure of the copied column to the one you desire...
    This should give you values in both currency...
    To identify which form you have used in GRR2 - Execute your report and go to Extras Menu > Technical Information.. In the pop up window that opens, double click on field "Report".

  • InputText renders as just text when readOnly set to true

    Apparently when a <af:inputText> component's readOnly attribute is set to true, the component renders as plain text rather than a text box whose readOnly attribute is set to true. Oracle's ADF tag definition site makes no mention of this 'feature' (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/htdocs/partners/addins/exchange/jsf/doc/tagdoc/core/inputText.html) but I remember reading it somewhere, I believe in some of the documents that came with an ADF faces download.
    And if I had not happened to come across this information somewhere, I would otherwise think this was a bug. But either way, I don't think this is the way it should perform. If I specify a field on a page to be inputText, I expect it to be a text box, regardless of whether I want it readOnly or not. I think its a bad assumption on ADF's part to completely change the rendering of the component.
    I want to render text inside a textbox on a page, but make it read only. And I am using it within the confines of a <af:forEach> so I am using the var parameter, and thus am forced to use Oracle's components so the forEach var parameter is recognized. So it appears to me I cannot render the field how I want. I dont see any other Oracle components to render this.
    Is this going to be changed or is there a way to submit something to Oracle to have this addressed?

    FYI...if I use the disabled attribute instead, thankfully the component still renders as a textbox. Obviously it renders grayed out, but at least I still get a textbox with text in it.
    But the readOnly attribute still, I feel, performs badly. So my question still stands, are there plans to change it or can it be addressed? Maybe when Apache takes full control of the library, it will be changed...

  • Why does my preferred search engine gets hide set to True in search.json after every update to Firefox?

    I use DuckDuckGo as my preferred search engine. Everytime Firefox gets updated it dissappears from the drop down menu of search engines. I found in search.json that the Hide value would be set to True. By changing it to False and restarting Firefox DuckDuckGo would be back, until the next update. Why is this happening? It is an extension available from the Mozilla/Firefox extension/addons site.

    First of all, thank you for providing troubleshooting info (Troubleshooter addon), have you tried the searchreset tool.

  • Applet doesn't work if regional setting is not US.

    Hi
    Mine applet works file if the regional setting is English (US). But If the regional setting is changed to French or japnese it gives problem due to diffrent time Zone.
    ex. 20-MAY-2004 as per US setting is interpreted as 21-MAY-2004 in French regional setting
    Below is the methods which give value as "20-MAY-2004" in US regional setting ( set from control panel to English US) but give value as 21-MAY-2004 if regional setting is changed to French.
    public String FindCtWeekEndingDate() {
    String sWkEndingDate = null;
    String sWkEnding =
    "Select TO_CHAR(trunc(sysdate, 'DY'), 'DD-MON-RRRR') from dual";
    PreparedStatement PSWkEnding;
    ResultSet RSWkEnding;
    try {
    PSWkEnding = conn.prepareStatement(sWkEnding);
    sWkEndingDate = "";
    RSWkEnding = PSWkEnding.executeQuery();
    if(RSWkEnding.next()) {
    sWkEnding = RSWkEnding.getString(1).toUpperCase(Locale.US);
    System.out.println(" Before Closing...###### " +RSWkEnding.getString(1).toUpperCase(Locale.US));
    PSWkEnding.close();
    System.out.println(" Before Returing .......#####"+sWkEnding);
    return sWkEnding;
    else {
    PSWkEnding.close();
    return null;
    catch (Exception e) {
    return null;
    } /* End if FindCtWeekEndingDate */
    Locale.US doesn't helpout in this case and giving same results.
    Any idea what need to donne...
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    I am not sure why you have to use SQL to get week end date
    You can do it with much ease using Java Calendar class
    Here is sample code of getting the weekend date ....
    // get the current date
    Calendar calendar = Calendar.getInstance();
    // set the week starting
    calendar.setFirstDayOfWeek(Calendar.SUNDAY);
    // set the day of the week as week end and get the date
    calendar.set(Calendar.DAY_OF_WEEK,Calendar.SATURDAY);
    // you can also get the month / year
    System.out.println(" weekend day is " + calendar.get(Calendar.DATE));
    If you decide to create a date-time formatter with a specific format pattern for a specific locale, you can do so with:
    new SimpleDateFormat(aPattern, new DateFormatSymbols(aLocale)).

  • Error : Offline Mode is SET to "True"

    I have clustered enviroment . I ran the Package by executing Dtsx File and it got the error  "product level is insufficient..." then i found that i need to install remaing SSIS Component. After Instaling those Component . while i was running the package again it is giving the Error "Package Failed becasue Offline Mode is set to True. When i Check in Design it was False. So Why Suddenly it is Throwing that Error.
    Plsease Help me on That

       Hi,
          There is another option to set the work offline mode with out opening the project itself. I think in your case it is better to set this property prior to open the project, why because after changing in the solution still you find some errors related to work offline. So I think it is better to follow the steps in the given link to set work offline mode without opening the project.

  • Region setting is fixed to "Spain - Spanish" after PC Migration

    MBP has been in use for a couple of years with 1 user account (set as English). Have just migrated another user from a Spanish PC (Windows 7) which was running with Spanish region setting with English as its language.
    Used the Migration Assistant and all is well other than the Region is locked out in System Preferences. I can change it to anything I want but it reverts to "Spain - Spanish" regardless of any changes I make. I have added other languages and so on so the system (menus etc.) is okay but some basic preferences (e.g. dates, currency) will not change even in "Custom" setting.
    When you scroll through the Europe drop down for Regions there is a small dash next to Spain.
    Any advice on this strange one?
    Many thanks in advance

    Open the DVD Player, choose Get Disc Info from the File menu, and click on Regions.

  • DVD/CD region settings change problem

    I have a HP notebook with a Toshiba MK 8025GAS master DVD/CD drive with the slave TSST Corp CD/DVD TS-L532M
    I am having trouble changing the region settings as it states I have 1 change left but when I try to change the setting from Region 1 to Region 4, I get the responce "Unable to update region setting. Make sure the drive contains a region 4 media and you have administrative privilege".
    Can you please advise me what I can do about this? Thank you.

    At first I must say that notebook manufacturer is responsible for all your notebook issues and not manufacturer for each hardware component.
    I have Toshiba notebook and inside is Samsung HDD. If I have problems with it I dont contact Samsung but Toshiba.
    You know what I mean?
    Back to your question: do you (your account) have administrative privilege?
