Regions overlap wipes previous material

Please do explain: how I can insert a new region into a track and not wipe overlapping material? GB does not "see" the beginnings to regions, and corresponding material is being destroyed. The region following the insertion is not automatically moved down the timeline and is instead overlapped and wiped. Is it me? As a default, this really stinks. It has absolutely no corollary in tape editing. Thanks for any help, really!

As a default, this really stinks.
As a default, that's what you want when you edit music - because otherwise everything that follows would be out of sync. When you're editing speech, you might want something else, but as HT said, you can move regions easily. (And nothing is destroyed if regions are covered up by accident - you can always get those parts back by dragging out the region again.)

  • When I create a new track and region, the new region copies the previous region contents; why?

    In trying to experiment with new instruments included in 10.1. , I create a new instrument track and region, nominate the new instrument, and... I see that the empty region I just created isn't empty at all, it is filled with the notes created in a previous track, and no sound... is this a glitch or am I doing something wrong?

    You can highlight the URL in the Location Bar of a Tab you want to duplicate and use '''{Alt + Enter}''' or you can '''Middle-click the Reload button''' at the right-side of the Location Bar (no need to highlight the URL there).
    Both of those methods will work whether you have '''''Tabs on Top''''' selected or not.

  • How do I make a clip fade in from white, without affecting / overlapping the previous clip?

    Hi,
    The simple scenario is, I have two clips in my timeline. I have the the first clip that ends on a white flash frame. I want the second clip to fade in from white, so that there is visual continuity between the two clips. I don't want to change the duration of the two clips and add any additional frames.
    Whenever I use the Fade To Colour dissolve, and simply switch out the black colour to white, which does exactly what I want, the dissolve always affects / overlaps the first clip when you subsequently put them together. How can I have only the second clip fade in from white and be affected by the Fade To Colour?
    I've also tried using the compositing opacity handles in the show video animation dialogue but this only lets you fade the clip in from a black background. If I could change the colour of that compositing opacity background to white, so that it fades in from white instead of black, then that would be perfect but I can't see how you can do it? Can that be done?
    I'd like the simplest and quickest possible solution, ideally changing the colour of the compositing opacity background would be best but how else can I have a clip fade in from white?
    Thanks,
    Clown Guy

    I also have this question. Avid lets you change the frame up/down -  to/from a dissolve point. In other words, I could have a dissolve go "up" at, for example, 5 frames, and then "down" at, say, 15 frames. As it stands now, FCPX only allows you the same amount of frames on either side of the cross-dissolve. (A 30-frame dissolve is split 15 frames on either side of the transition.)
    Other NLE's give you the option for a dissolve to occur at the BEGINNING, in the MIDDLE (STANDARD CROSS-DISSOLVE) or at the END of a transition. (Depending, of course, on if you have the "handles" to execute the transition,)
    Can we achieve this in FCPX? Is this where we launch the "precision editor?"

    I have moved to UK and changed my region but now cannot get updates of Apps purchased on Australian store. Is there a way around this?
    Cheers!

    Hello bhgreene,
    To better assist you with this, is this happening with all downloads or only with this one application/game? If it is only happening with the one application/game we would suggest to reach out to the application vendor again for further support.
    Thank you.

  • Midi and audio regions overlap when recording with autodrop

    Say you are playing a melody for notation purposes with midi. You record 2 bars. Region is 2 bars long. You learn the next 2 bars and notice that this phrase actually starts at bar 2 beat 4. So you set autodrop to bar 2 beat 4 and punch in. The new region begins at bar 2 beat 1. If you adjust the region start point you see the end of the first region hiding behind it. In the score window, before trimming that new regions start point, you see rests for the new region and notes from the first region together..really lame. If you trim the new regions start point to bar 2 beat 4 it looks right. This is in replace mode mind you.... Why doesn't the punch appear at the autodrop location instead of at the beginning of the bar. I don't remember logic working like this before, did it? Seems like it was doing the same thing with audio, had regions hiding all over the place behind punches...very confusing. I saw a similar post but it didn't seem to resolve this issue...Is it a bug? Mike Peters
    Macbook---G4 800   Mac OS X (10.4.2)   Logic 7.2.3

    A few things (and there aren't many) regarding capture recording... For me it's been a tried-and-true feature of Logic for a very long time and continues to work flawlessly.
    How Capture Works (and some operational notes)
    Logic continually captures any and all MIDI data from the time you hit PLAY to the time you hit STOP, even if you're not "in record". Notes, program changes, controllers, sysex, anything MIDI will get buffered as you play and are ready to be turned into a region once you hit your Capture k/c. You can play to picture, improvise, whatever, for a very long time and never worry about Logic losing any of what you played.
    The KEY is that after you hit STOP, you must hit your Capture k/c before hitting PLAY again, because once you hit PLAY, the MIDI buffer is, out of necessity, be cleared.
    However, you don't need to STOP Logic to use Capture. You can play along with a track and hit Capture at any time. Logic will create a MIDI region from what you played and continue capturing additional MIDI data from your real-time performance while Logic continues to run. So you can start Logic, play some stuff, capture, play some stuff, capture, all without hitting STOP. In this scenario, just remember that if you hit STOP at any point that you will need to hit Capture that last bit of your performance (if you hadn't done so already) before hitting PLAY again.
    One other operational note that's really important...
    CYCLE MODE: If Logic is set to cycle and the cycle wraps to the L-locator before you've captured your performance, you will lose what's in the MIDI buffer. Jumping back to the L-locator in cycle mode is the equivalent of hitting STOP and then hitting PLAY. This is probably the single most important thing to watch out for. I've lost a few good "noodlings" because I had my L-locator set too close.
    Hope this helps. I'd be curious to learn of your Capture experiences and see what you guys think!

  • LP 9.1.8: Trim region start to previous region?

    I know I can use the command "Trim region end to next region", but I cannot find the way to make the inverse procedure....
    Any help?
    Tnx

    Hi
    Step 1 would be to check if you have corrupted preferences:
    Quit Logic
    Go to the <User>:Library:Preferences (note that the User Library is hidden by default in MLion, so use the Finder:Go menu whilst holding down Option to get there).
    Find the Logic Pro preferences file:
    com.apple.logic.pro.plist
    Move this file to the Desktop, and restart Logic
    Any better?

    from OAF how we have to create Job material transaction

    Hi Pat,
    What is your SBO version? I've seen several cases in which the login/connection procedure (both in the client and via DI API) has become much slower after upgrading to SBO 2005.
    Do you experience the same slowness when connecting via DI API in a non-WebService setting?
    I would not recommend using DI API in a web service context in the first place. DI Server would give you a much more robust, stable and scalable infrastructure to build upon.

  • Material Ledger -- WIP values

    Hi,
      We have material ledger functionality active and want to extract the WIP values based on the Production Order. Currently we are executing transaction Code CKMLWIPDISP for viewing the WIP details and the values in object currency and controlling area currency are appearing. Some more tables
    CKMLCRWIP                      Material Ledger: WIP Period Records (Values)
    CKMLLACRWIP                    ML Activity Types: Period/ Currency Records WIP
    CKMLLAPPWIP                    Ml Activity Types: Period Records WIP (Quantitie

  • Consideration of stock of discontinued FG or trading material during MRP Run

    There is an functionality of follow up material for component. I would like to know if there is any similar option available for finished goods or trading materials.
    I am doing procurement planning for externally procured Trading materials. Now my previous material A is being replaced by material B. Therefore all the planned independent requirement is available in system only for B. But still there is some stock available for material A. How can it be considered during MRP run for material B.
    Example,
    Material A:
    On Hand Stock = 100
    Planned Independent Req. = 0
    Material B:
    On Hand Stock = 300
    Planned Independent Req. = 1000
    In this case if we run MRP for material B, how we ask system to plan Purchase Requisitions for 600 instead of 700 for material B, considering stock of material A.

    Hello
    Please refer to the following SAP note:
    43636 - Discontinued parts
    This note provides a detailed explanation of the system standard design of the usage of discontinued parts with material requiremenst planning and the most common questions about this issue.
    The following information is provided on this note regarding the PIRs:
    2. Planned independent requirements and forecast requirements are not redirected.
                  Explanation: Planned independent requirements after the effective-out date are not redirected but are provided with an exception message in the MRP list stating that they cannot be included in the availability check. Planned independent requirements and forecast requirements are therefore displayed in the MRP list and in the stock/requirements list. However, they do not influence planning

  • How do you keep bottom columns from overlapping another div

    I am using DW CS3 and am following instructions on making first web page everything is fine till I get to positioning the columns at the bottom of page when i try and set a css rule to position left column the column overlaps the previous div the instructions i am using are from adobe http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/first_cs4_website_pt2_08.html here is the code that I have up to the point that I put in the rule for the left column for the design page

           <div id="center_column">Content for id"center_column" Goes Here</div>
       </div>
    </div>
    On the CSS page that is attached to it the code is as follows:
    #container  {
    width:  968 px;
    background:  FFFFFF;
    margin:  0 auto:
    padding-left:  10px:
    padding-right:  10px:

    #main_image  {
    background-image:  url(images/main.jpg);
    height:  376px;
    width:  968px;
    and then I am suppossed to do a box with width of 316 and float left when I do this it floats left and goes down in size but also goes up into the top of my main image why is this happening?

    Zabberwan is correct  :-)   If the basic css is not written correctly, the page will not display as intended.  You are using a colon (:) instead of a semi-coon (;) to close off the style rule... in addition, the #hash tag was missing from the background rule.

  • WIP&Settlement Process order

    Hi,
    We calculate WIP weekly basis and WIP used to credited to a Balance sheet acct and DR to a P&L acct (which is generally NOT a Cost Element )
    Here our Doubt,
    WIP was calculating irrespective of Settlement that is we used to see the Doucument (DR and CR ).and can be verified to FS10N,but now some thing went wrong (I checked OKGA and OKG8 they have proper BS and P&L accts) and after calculating WIP the documents are not posted and FS10N shows nothing for that BS and P&L acct.
    1)Can we calculate WIP without settling order (DLV or TECO) and get  FI documnet posted ? which we used to get I believe,
    2) what is wrong with our system where we got FI documnets for WIP previously and not getting Now even though we have same BS and P&l accounts in OKG8 ?
    your help greatly appreciated,
    Regards,
    Nikitha

    Thank you Suryanaraya,
    YES we calculate WIP on weekly Basis, But Financial statement analysis on Monthly Basis,
    Your answer is convincing, But My user is adamant  (in fact he shows the previous documnets posted for WIP) . so can you clarify, for example I calculated WIP (Lets say ,for this month) 2/11,2/14,2/21,2/28 ;;;;;; and , -$100,-$80,-$60,$40  for my Balance sheet  ,Respectively , which shows $0.00 for that Process order as WIP, and we are done totally at the month end  ,so you mean to say I will get 4 documents on Month end (Feb 28) as Document Date 2/11,2/14,2/21,2/28 and Posting Date 2/28 for all 4 when I run Settlement?
    OR can I do weekly WIP and Settle order ? to see WIP documnets?
    Please clarify,
    Excuse my ignorance,
    Nikitha

  • Diplaying region content based on multiple selection lists

    Hi,
    I have 3 select list on submit(P1A, P1B, P1C). And i have 3 report regions.
    now this is the scenario. the 3 select lists are on submit.
    the P1C is a dynamic list which shows contents based on the selection from P1A and/or P1B. so this is how my P1C LOV looks like
    SELECT DISTINCT COLLECTION d, COLLECTION v
    FROM viewvs
    WHERE (YEAR =   :P1A  OR  :P1A= '-1' )
    AND   (SEASON =  :P1B  OR  :P1B= '-1' )
    ORDER BY d i also have a 3 report regions which display result based on P1C selection.
    now when i select P1C then i am able to see the 3 regions. and when i go back and change P1A and/or P1B, then P1C changes output. and the 3 regions should not show any data unless i again select one from P1C but, the 3 regions still hold on to the previous data.
    what i am trying to say is, when the regions should display data only when P1C is selected, and when any of P1A or P1B is changed the regions should disappear and should not display any data, but instead the 3 regions show the previous data unless a new selection is done.
    How can i clear the report region when everytime a new value is selected from P1A and/or P1B.
    also the below is part of what i have entered in the report regions
    IF :P1C != 'NULL' THEN
    --DISPLAY THESE VALUES
    END IF;---------
    this is what i found the latest. whats happeneing is
    when i select listA, listB-- listC gets populated and when i select from listC based on that value which gets stored in session state, report regions get displayed
    but when i go back and change selection in listA, listB
    by default listC session value should go to NULL, and only after i make a new selection, then with this new session value for listC, the report regions get displayed.
    but when i checked the session value for listC, it still remains the same old value from the previous selection, because i haven't nade new selection and thats why the report regions are still showing the old result.
    so how can i remove this session value for listC after displaying the report results.
    Thanks,
    Philip.

    There is nothing wrong with your code, so I'd look elsewhere for the problem. Is this a direct copy of what you have on your page?
    :P1_COMBO1 in ('Option 1', 'Option 2')
    And
    :P1_COMBO2 = 'Option Combo 2'And the page item values are exactly as you have in the quoted strings? You might run the page in debug and confirm the page item values are exact.

    previously material A has turn on the batch management. later then, it is turn off without checking properly. Now in the system, material A is stuck in a few bins with batch. Our master data user do not allow us to turn on and off the batch because it will affect other plant.
    Has anyone encounter such issue before?
    I need help badly.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Santthi.

    You cannot turn off batch managment "without checking properly". You could just turn off BM, if batches already exist, with an own created ABAP.  And this alone is causing your troubles.
    Best, you take a weekend where nobody in the plants are working, then you use the same uncomplient  ABAP to switch BM on again, goods issue your batches, run archiving, for the batch records and switch off BM using the regular way.
