  • Combining Skype and Skype for business accounts

Hi Guys, My company have provided me with Skype for Business today and setup an account using my work email address. I've been using Skype for a number of years and have all of my clients on there (200+ contacts) What is the simplest way to move across? Is there a way of combining my Skype account and my Skype for business account? Or alternatively is there a way to export my Skype contacts and to import them into Skype for business? I see you can export from Skype but couldn't see a way to import into Skype for business. Your help would be much appreciated. Will

When yoy start typing in the field s of contacts you will have the choice between "My Contacts" and the "Skype Directory" I was able to add most of my businerss contacts, I agree it can be tedious at a time if you have 50+ contacts from Skype...I would be happy to get a programmatic way to to this.Interesting. I don't get this options in my version of Skype for Business (I.m using v15.0.4711) Which version are you running; or is this an option? I can't see anyting obvious in the Tool->Options menu Whats also annoying is that this wasn't mentioned by Skype/Microsoft customer support?

  • Any way to remove the prompt after Skype for Business patch?

So we rolled out the latest patches to our test machines and everyone got the new Skype for Business upgrade.  When each person logged in they were greeted with a window that said something like:
"Your administrator is set for you to use the Lync User Interface."
We then had to click the Restart Now button which caused Lync to close and open up again and it looked like Lync instead of like Skype.
Is there any way to not have that pop up open and to just have everyone get the old Lync interface as if nothing happened?  GPO, Registry, etc?
We want to minimize any confusion people are sure to have the first time they use it.
    Thanks!

You can enable the SkypeUI (Set-CsClientPolicy -Identity Global -EnableSkypeUI $true) with the backend still being Lync Server 2013 to get the new client look and feeling.
The Skype for Business 2015 RTM Server bits should be out in May, but the current new functionality can be taken from:

Lync Validator - Used to assist in the validation and documentation of Lync Server 2013.
Can I just enable it for individual users for testing?  I tried doing a get-csclientpolicy and replacing -identity global with -identity <user ID> but it said it didn't exist since it seems it's looking for policies.  Not sure if there's
some other way to do that.
Do I need to setup a new policy and just add certain people to it or is there any other way to do that for specific users?
    Thanks!

  • Skype for Business - Cannot see shared screens, bu...

I just started a new job and am required to use Skype for Business.  I downloaded Skype for Business 32 bit.  My PC is 64 bit but because I already have other Office 32 bit programs, I cannot install the 64 bit version.
Everything in Skype for Business appears to work properly, except for the fact that I cannot see someone else's screen when they've shared it with me.  When someone shares their screen with me, all that I can see is the empty white box where their desktop should be.  When I share my screen with others, they can see my desktop correctly.
What other information is needed to help diagnose this issue?  I really need this functionality in order to do my job properly.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I was using Lync as part of the offerings found on Office 365 and I was prompted to "upgrade" to Skype for Business and so I did per the suggestion.  Lync had screen sharing, Skype for Business currently does not have screen sharing!  This is a major dissapointment.  Who is the product manager and why the premature roll-out?  This is incredebly frustrating as most all my clients leverage Lync (their own install on their servers... have not upgraded yet.. lucky for them) and screen sharing is an important part of my interaction.  It took many of my clients a long time to master Lync and therefore, it is incredebly challenging to teach them how to use an alternative tool over the phone.  I feel incridebly duped.  My clients can share with me however, I cannot share with them.  What is the current timeframe for enabling (re-enabling) this functionality?  How can I get back Lync?   Is there a beta release of the next version?  Finally, how can this be called "Skype for Business" when a core aspect of the tool to conduct "business" had been stripped away without warning?

  • Install Skype for Business with Business Essencial...

    Hi,
I was wondering if I Bought the Business Essencial account of Office365 will I be able to install in my PC Skype for BUiness... I have this question since this "plan" in all online, I was wondering how Skype for Buiness would funciton.

We are just getting settled with our Office 365 Business Premium accounts and are looking at the Skype for Business app.  It looks great for chat and conferencing except for the fact that you can't have meeting attendees dial in by phone.  We definitely need this feature!
I've read that you can do something with a Skype/Lync server on-prem or can pay a 3rd party to add MS-certified conferencing but we don't want the extra hassle or expense, especially since we have an in-house PBX that is currently handing our conference bridge needs very well (even with Gotomeeting - our current meeting software).
Am I missing something or are these our only options?  How have people switched to Skype for Business/Lync for all their conferencing needs?

The company I work for have just replaced Lync with Skype for Business, but how can I have Skype for Buiness and my "normal" Skype on the same laptop

They are two different programs.  I have both installed on several machines without issue.  I doubt you can use both simultaneously fully (like being on a video call on both at the same time, I don't know why you would) but they can definitely be installed side by side on the same computer.

  • Find me/Follow me features in Skype for business/S...

Does Skype for Business support find me / follow me features?
I recently discovered that if you associate a Business Account with a SIP profile, that account can no longer log in to the Skype App anywhere.
I was looking for the ability to have a call come in to a skype number and ring all devices such as the mobile phone app/desktop app/assigned SIP profile.
This way a business user can pick up calls on there office phone or on their mobile/computer when on the go.

Skype account association to a SIP account should have not effect on your ability to log in to a Skype app. What happens now if you try to sign in to Skype with that account?

  • Skype for Business - Windows Phone app released

The Skype team arepleased to announce the availability of the Skype for Business app for Windows Phone.
Skype for Business - Windows Phone appWhat’s new—intuitive interface, more emoticons, improved server communicationsIf you are familiar with the Lync app for Windows Phone, you’ll notice a number of enhancements in the new app. The most noticeable differences right off the bat are the Skype for Business brand and UI, which is intuitive and familiar if you happen to use Skype in your personal communications. We’ve also revamped emoticons, which now offers over 100 emoticons to land your message visually.
We have improved how the app and the server handle conversation notifications. Once you’re notified of a new conversation on your phone, the other clients you have logged in won’t be able to grab the conversation and prevent you from...

  • Skype for Business Live Tile - How to clear count

I understand that when the live tile for Skype for Business shows a number, it means I had that many missed contacts.  But the question is "since when"? Since the last time I opened the app? If that's the intent, it doesn't seem to be working for me. My live tile always shows "6". If I open the app then exit it, the "6" disappears, but at some point in the future the "6" returns without any new missed contacts. So how do I "clear" the missed contact count so that it is actually meaningful? A related question is, how do I know what are the six missed contacts? If I scroll right to the "Recent" list, how do I know which of those contacts are counted as being among the six that were missed? If there is supposed to me some sort of "missed" indicator, I sure can't tell what it is. Any advice welcome! Thanks!

does anyone know if there is a way to actually speak to SKYPE? i would like to discuss different business options (I have spent 20 mins searching the website and internet for a contact us and resorted to this, much like google! ridiculous that you cannot speak to a human being !!!)
