Reinstall Acrobat Reader X on all computers

We may have to reinstall Acrobat Reader X on all 950 computers on our network.
The admins have used SCCM to install version 10.1.0.
I may have to rollback to version 9.4 if the problems we are having with version 10.1.0 are not solved.
Any recommandations on how to remove 10.1.0. We could the use SCCM to install version 9.4.
Thanks.

Thank you!  I have the same setup w/ linked home dir and I have the same problem w/ Adobe Reader 10.  I've been Googling for some time trying to find a solution.  This is the first post I've seen where someone has referenced "linked home directory".
Does anyone know the solution to this?

    Hi,
I would suggest you to uninstall Adobe Reader using the cleaner tool and then re-install the latest version.
Adobe Cleaner Tool:- Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs.
Latest version of Adobe Reader:- http://get.adobe.com/reader/
If you still experience the same issue, please share the following information:-
    - Screenshot of Adobe Reader showing printer options
    - Screenshot of Microsoft Word showing printer options
    - Screenshot of control panel- Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Devices and Printers

  • Acrobat reader, and indeed all adobe products are freezing and crashing on print hellllp !

    Well,  I'm flummoxed.
Everything was working fine.. right up till I had to do some driver work to get my scanner to work -  now I can't seem to print from any Adobe product.
I click print -  the program freezes, stops responding and in the case of Acrobat reader, crashes.. in the case of Indesign CS4 - I have to stop the process in Task manager,  in the case of Fireworks CS3 - I think it just crashes. ,  Printing a pdf hangs and crashes inside of Firefox and IE browsers too.
My printer works..  I can print from MS Word, I can print a photo directly by right clicking on a file and choosing Print.   But when I try it in an adobe product.  <poof>
I'm running Windows 7 64-bit,  - my version of Adobe Reader is: 10.1.11,  windows is updated, I don't have any unusual extensions.
Any Ideas??  I'd be much obliged if anyone could help
    5tratus

Thank's pat.. I did that,  but for some reason,  in spite of rebooting about 3 times yesterday.. this morning all the adobe products just seem to be working?!
    I think I have a poltergeist .
So, hopefully the computer just needed a good night's sleep and it'll stay working.
    fingers crossed,

  • Acrobat Reader Upd 812_SUI_ all

The installation package couldnot be opened. Contact the application vendor to Verify that this is a valid Windows installer package. This is and update.
This also happen when Adobe reader original downloaded it and tried to install. I have it save on my desktop but cannot get it installed ?
I'm running a Dell E520 , OS win.XP home edition, Acrobat Reader 8.1.0.137, Hp 1610xi all in one printer, 2gb ram

There has not been an Acrobat Reader since AR5. Since then it has been called Adobe Reader to avoid the confusion you have.
It may be that your download is corrupt. I would go back and download it again. After you install it (successfully), I think there is likely an update - at least you should check.

  • Need advise on a problem one of my customer have with properties going missing in Acrobat Reader

    Hi there.
I need some advise on a major problem I got with acrobat reader on one of my customer's laptop.
I might not have all the informations, but I can explain about everything that I could dig out of the problem.
One of my customer asked me to find a solution to his problem as he just bought a Mac laptop and he has only been using a Windows PC before. He needed a way to be able to manipulate some texts and picture on a file (template) that he print a couple of times each week. I have built a 2 pages PDF form for him and it was a success on every computer we tried it on, except for his new Mac Laptop.
Whenever we open the file on his laptop in acrobat reader, every single properties of any forms are not readed.
    Those "missing" properties include :
    - Everything in the "Text field property" which include size, choice of font (I specifically took a system font available on both PC and Mac and tested it on another Mac), alignment and apearances.
    - All forms, checks and buttons are resetted to a "default" appearance.
The names and ID of the forms seems to be correct and forms with the same name seems to work. (if he fills in one part, it automaticly fills some parts on the 2nd pages instead of having him rewrite the whole stuff.)
The sizes of the forms are correct too. It seems to only affect the form properties, but not the manually inserted javascript.
I tried to open another form PDF I took from the Web (gouvernment forms) and it seems like the problem is not from my file as it happen with all PDF files with forms.
I checked his Acrobat Reader version and it seems like it's up to date, as well as his java software.
Since I couldn't do a full check-up and tried to reinstall Acrobat Reader and java as I only had about 20 minutes to check things, I'm asking around before taking that kind of option into account.
If any got any idea or have already experienced that kind of strange thing, please tell me where could the problem be.
    Thanks!

The file is opened manually with Adobe Reader directly on the customer's computer harddrive. (Right click on the file directly stored on the desktop. "Open with ..." and then select "Adobe Reader". The program showed on the top bar is Acrobat Reader and it's hard to mix it up as it's totally different from the "Preview" program on the Mac.)
If I opened it with Preview (on the Mac), it was even LESS buggy. While some options  are not accessible in Preview (mainly those who use javascripts or adobe reader/acrobat only features), the visual that aren't working in Adobe Reader were working fine. Since some basic options aren't available in Preview, my customer needs to use it in Adobe Reader.
I can garanty that the problem is related to Adobe Reader and/or maybe background process that Adobe Reader uses (for exemple : Java, C++, etc.)
I asked around to know if someone have already experienced this issue and if they have found a way to repair it without doing a full reinstall of every kind of process that Adobe Reader uses.
Also, if I'm doing a clean up for a restoration of Adobe Reader, is there any other program to reinstall then Adobe Reader and Java?

  • Acrobat Reader 7, 8 & 9 + Outlook 2003 = Freezing

    Hi guys,
    Here's my issue:
A few of our users here use the "Attach to email..." option within Acrobat Reader after opening a PDF from an email within Outlook 2003 (why they refuse to just forward the damn e-mail, I do not know). Anyways, after typing into the e-mail, they hit "Send" and then both Outlook and Acrobat Reader freeze up. Now just to add to the fun, this happens intermittently. Sometimes twice a day, sometimes twenty.
    Things I've tried:
    - Reinstalling Acrobat Reader.
    - Installing versions 7, 8 and 9 (uninstalling the previous one first of course)
    - Reinstalling Outlook 2003.
    - Reinstalling the entire Office 2003 package.
    - Reconfiguring his Exchange settings (cached mode, etc)
Does anyone have any ideas? I see a number of people with this problem, but no real fix apart from the whole "Don't use Acrobat Reader, hurr" response. We do not have this luxury.
If an Adobe Rep sees this and can even give me an answer of "This is a current issue and it's being looked into.", that would be fine. I need to give these users something to get them off my back.
    Cheers.

You do not need Reader and Acrobat on the same system. Acrobat will do all that reader does.
If you have both installed on the same system, you should remove Reader using the Windows Install Cleanu Utitlity and repair Acrobat. If repairing Acrobat does not solve the problem, you remove Acrobat using the Windows Install Cleanu Utitlity and reinstall Acrobat.
    Good luck.

  • Unable to Print After Installing Adobe Acrobat Reader Upgrades.

. What software version of Abobe Acrobat Reader should be used for an HP PhotoSmart Plus printer? I currently have Adobe version  9.3 installed. I receive pop-up notices to install new Adobe Acrobat Reader software upgrades. I have installed the software upgrades and then my HP PhotoSmart Plus printer was unoperational. I deleted the Adobe software upgrades and my HP PhotoSmart Plus printer began to operate. I contacted HP technical support and was told there is no compatibility issues between Adobe Acrobat Reader and HP All-in-One Products. It might be a problem with the specific Adobe software upgrades. HP requested that I contact Adobe support for problem resolution. Has this problem ever happened to you? Any problem resolutions would be appreciated.

  • Can't print from acrobat reader

I have a mac mini (2011) running lion. I have the latest version of Acrobat Reader installed. When viewing any pdf file, it works fine. However, if I click on the printer icon, nothing happens. Nothing goes to the print queue. Also, if I hit File>Print, the printer dialogue doesn't appear. Nothing happens at all.
I can print pdf files from Preview, just fine, so I know it's not a printer problem.
I've trashed and reinstalled Acrobat Reader, fixed permissions, rebooted and trashed the Adobe Application Support files from Library.
I'm stumped. I have to have Acrobat, as it's the only program that can open certain government forms. I can't "print as image" since I can't even get the printer dialogue to show up. I'm only having this issue on one machine, so I'm completely stumped.
    HELP!

"IF" You are using, OSX.4.11 Try locating , downloading, installing AppleJack (there currently isn't a version for Leopard or Snow Leopard). The to Run Restart holding down the Command-S keys. This put you in Single User Mode (Raw UNIX).
when a screen full of print scrolls through and your left with a Blink Cursor, Type applejack.
simply follow directions. go by the numbers follow them in order they are given.
Now items 3&4 you have to do once for your system, and once for each User Account (name you gave computer when setting up example you gave name as John Smith name for user account would be johnsmith).
Once completed (1-5)  hit return then choose Reboot or Shutdown.
In your case choose r and then hit return.
when it restarts wait, a whole bunch of cache files were dumped. You may even see the "dreaded "Blue screen for a little bit, and bits and piece of the desktop will appear until completely rebuilt.
    After rebuilt Try printing.
If that doesn't work. Report back and maybe someone else can come up with an idea.

  • Can't print via Adobe acrobat reader!

I can not print via Adobe Acrobat reader even though all other application work well with the printer and there is no hardware or connection problem involved.
the printer is:  HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fn Color Multifunction Printer
The same thing happened to my outlook but I fixed it by reinstalling the printer software,
I think reinstallation is not the way of fixing it, does anyone have the same problem or can help me?

    Hello
I understand you can print from all other programs except Adobe acrobat reader.
I have included a document to troubleshoot this issue for not being able to print pdfs.
Check your version and select the appropriate one to proceed.

How do I reinstall Acrobat X Pro?  All I can find is XI on the Adobe site?

    Hi Michael,
You can download Acrobat X Pro from the direct download links available at : http://prodesigntools.com/adobe-cs5-5-direct-download-links.html
But make sure you follow the "Very Important Instructions" on the page before initiating the download.

There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader. If it is running, please exit and try again. (0:104)
I keep getting that message when I try to open a PDF link from a webpage. When I open the Windows Task Manager under the Applications tab I do not see Adobe Acrobat/Reader listed at all.
How do I fix this problem?

I may as well answer my own question.
After typing "patch" and reading a few threads I found out how to fix it.

    Hi,
did you search the Mozilla forum for this issue? I don't think that the JDeveloper 11 forum is the right place to post this problem if it is an Adobe/Mozilla issue

  • Acrobat Reader not detected

    Hi
I have enrolled in the Microsoft IT academy, and was able to complete the work, when one day the check at the beginning no longer detected acrobat reader plugin.  i updated and reinstalled acrobat reader, but it is still not picking up the plugin.  how do i fix this?
    thanks

Interesting, thank you. Just a mistake, I think, or a very old site. It stopped being called Acrobat Reader almost 10 years ago.
My advice is to test that Adobe Reader is able to show a PDF in your browser window (NOT in the Adobe Reader window). Here's a link to try: http://www.adobe.com/products/postscript/pdfs/PackingLightBrochure.pdf
    What happens?

  • Acrobat reader refuses to work

I cannot find a link to contact anyone. How am I going to decide if I want to buy a product, when the free download does not work?? I have reinstalled acrobat reader several times and it still will not open up any files for me.
I cannot even uninstall it from my computer. I am very upset over this, specially since many downloads are made for acrobat and will not accept anything else. So I am stuck!!!
    Please help.

Try the Acrobat forum: this is the Digital Editions one.
Adobe Reader is free anyway, you can't buy it.
There are a few free alternatives to the Adobe Reader for reading Acrobat files, such as Foxit reader.
    http://www.foxitsoftware.com/Secure_PDF_Reader/
If you mean Adobe Acrobat, it is more than a reader, as it can be used for authoring/editing files.
There are alternatives to it as well; not sure what they are.

  • Acrobat Reader Installer Download stops at 50% with error Lost connection... Trying to reconnect

The Acrobat Reader was working all fine. Just about a week back while trying to download a PDF form from a trusted site, the PDF forms were not opening whether I use explorer or Chrome. After following several forum and google search solutions, I uninstalled the reader and tried to re install from get.adobe.com Version xi which was originally installed on the desk top. I have Windows 7. As i was just getting hung up with the download, I tried to restore the computer to an earlier date the problem was not there. But even then the PDF files don't open up " unable to open if adobe is running stop it and try again' something like that. So i went to programs and tried to re install the program it comes up with Error 1311 Data.1.cab... file not found with the path of the file and saying see if file exists.

Use the offline installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
