Reinstall itunes to my iPod?

My computer knows when the USB is plugged in and all, but it can't update my iPod because the software isn't the right one, so then my iTunes can't work with it or something...and it wants me to
reinstall itunes to the iPod.
I'm a bit confused about this. What shall I do?

Go to control panel, add/removal software and uninstall the iTunes and iPod updater. You can leave the iPod updater there, what you need is download and install the latest iPod updater at apple.com. Open it and click Restore.

I have 2 ipod touches. One of the syncs with itunes just fine. The other isnt recognized by itunes. I reset the ipod to factory settings, and uninstalled and reinstalled itunes, still no recognition.

    - Do you have the latest version of iTunes on the computer? iOS 6 requires 10.5 or later. The current is 10.6.3
    - Have you tried a reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - You could try placing the iPod in Recovery Mode and restore the iPod. However, if you can't restore the iPod or use this program to get the iPod out of recovery mode
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
you will lose use of the iPod.

  • Itunes says that i need to reinstall itunes to fix ipod communications?!?!?

When I plug in my itunes (the newest version) I get this message that says "the software required for communicating with the Ipod is not installed correctly. Please reinstall Itunes to install the Ipod software." I have tried several times to uninstall itunes and reinstall it, but I can never manage to uninstall itunes. I don't know what to do. I have called the support line a thousand and one times. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

when i try to uninstall it, i receive all sorts of error messages like "make sure you are authorized to do this" and "unable to stop services" or it just freezes. I've called apple like a million times and I am about to just let them have it. They won't listen to me and they tell me to download the newest version of itunes and restart my computer.....I have literally done that step 15 times....no joke. I got it to work once and I don't remember what I did. So I have no clue what to do.

  • I cannot access or reinstall Itunes, and my ipod isn't being detected

So, sometime after the fall of 2010, which I suspect was after iTunes 10 was launched, I noticed I couldn't access iTunes.
    It read error 2330.
I did some sleuthing for months, and now I get these error messages under the heading "iTunes + Quicktime" when I attempted a re-installation of iTunes:
"There's a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor"
"An error occurred while attempting to create the directory: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes"
In the past while attempting to re-install iTunes, I got error message 2330...STILL don't fully know what this means.
I currently have Bonjour, the iTunes folder, The iPhone Configuration Utility folder, and Quicktime on my desktop...The actual programs are also in my C:\ drive in Program Files...I can also see Apple software in the Add/Remove Programs section of the Control Panel on my PC.
I seem to be able to access iTunes/iTunes store via the executable file in the iTunes folder by clicking "iTunes.exe", but no other way...I also noticed that the software will run normally, but not detect my iPod or allow my computer access...So in other words, iTunes doesn't recognize my computer as being authorized for my account, and yet it displays my email address in the upper-right hand corner of iTunes.
It's like I can only access a "half version" of the full iTunes I once had by going through that folder...No clue what's happening or what files may be missing or corrupted.
Quite simply put, I need help...I want to be able to use iTunes and my iPod Touch (1st gen) like I was able to this past fall before the mysterious accident or corrupt files ruined everything.

For that 2330 error, run chkdsk on your C drive.

  • My laptop crashed so now its empty well i had to reinstall itunes but my ipod says its already synced with another library :( is there anyway to get my old library back on my laptop again

    Please Help!!!

I suspect you only migrated the media folder instead of the complete working library. Either review the transfer process and copy over the entire iTunes folder from your old profile's music folder or see Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

Reciently I uninstalled and reinstalled itunes and my ipod software because my ipod in now no longer recognized by my computer(a topic for another forum). Dell   Windows XP

Bootlace, That is exactly what I did. I could have just burned my tunes onto a disc before I uninstalled but I believe my children have stolen my brain cells. I have to figure out a way to restore my ipod but my computer is not recognizing it. I am obviously going to lose everything on it when I do and I was hoping to recoup my downloaded music. I am at my wits end and am ready to throw it against the wall. Any sugestions on that topic would be appreciated. I feel like I have tried everything. Thanks.

  • Itunes freezing when ipod is connected

So I've been banging my head against the wall the last few days trying to figure out why my ipod is causing itunes to freeze, and ultimately not sync any new songs. In short after downloading itunes 9, anytime I attempt to connect my 120gb ipod classic itunes freezes up. I have done several, several things. I've already exhausted all the support suggestions, as well as countless google searches trying to resolve my issue.
    Things I've tried:
-Stopped, and restarted the ipod service
    -Reinstalled itunes
-Cleared the ipod photo cache folder
-Tried all usb ports on computer
    -Tried brand new usb cable
-Formatted my ipod, in which case itunes didn't freeze up, but told me it was corrupt, and I needed to restore it. Right after restoring, however, the exact same thing occurs (except now I have 0 songs).
-Tried simply leaving it sitting there (waited something like 3 hours).
-Ran a disk scan, passed everything until I reached "HP DETECT TEST 0".
My OS is 32-bit 7, and I had roughly 6k songs on my ipod prior (simply throwing that in there as I've seen similar posts saying they can only reach around 500 songs). What's odd is my iphone 3G works perfectly fine with itunes 9.

I am in the same boat and posted in reply to another thread like this. I have two 80gb classics. One works just fine on my pc, the other locks iTunes and my computer up so I can't even see it as a disk. And I only have about 6-8gb of songs on it. I have tried reinstalling iTunes several times now, and had to do restore a couple times on my laptop running Win7 with iTunes 9, which will read it just perfectly. I restore the pod, plug it into the pc which will then read it perfectly, restore and sync on the pc which works fine, eject it and all seems to work fine. If I wish to plug it back in though, it starts all over. It can be read fine on other computers and I didn't have a problem till 9 was installed with my Vista system. someone please get this figured out! I plan to call support later today.

  • TS1363 Updated to iTunes to latest version 11.1.4.62 on my Windows 8 machine.  iTunes no longer recognizes my 5th Gen Ipod.  It does however recognize my 80gb Ipod Video.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes as directed (twice) & rebooted pc. no luck.

I just updated iTunes to the 11.1.4.62 (as the pop up directed me to) on my Windows 8 machine. As a result iTunes will no longer recognize my 5th generation Ipod Nano (yes two).   I receive a pop up saying "Ipod has been detected but could not be identified properly"   I've followed the recommendations seveal times: a) disconnected and reconnected. b) rebooted computer c) unistalled and reinstalled iTunes d) tried different cables e) tried different USB porst f) rebooted Ipod.... the window keeps popping up like a middle finger (you get the point)
iTUnes WILL however,  recognize my 4th gen Nano and my 80gb Video (classic) without problem
Needless to say, I'm frustrated and ticked off over all of this wasted time.
    Anyone solved this issue yet?
    Any good suggestions?
    Please advise
    Kindest regards,

    c) unistalled and reinstalled iTunes
Doublechecking. Have you also tried a complete uninstall of both iTunes and all the other related software components and then a reinstall? If not, try the instructions from the following document:

you will not loose your content at all. It is still sitting in your hard drive even if you uninstall itunes.
Once itunes will be reinstalled , it will re-sync your stuff on your hard drive

    - Transfer iTunes purchases to the computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - For other music you need a third-party program like one of those discussed here:
Copy music from Ipod to new computer...: Apple Support Communities
    - After all the stuff is on your computer, connect the iPod to yur computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up.
    - Restore the iPod from that backup.
