Reinstalling CS4 Suite - License Issue?

Just a quick question as I just want to be safe.  Will be upgrading a user to Windows 7 from XP and they currently have the Adobe Create Suite 4 on XP.  Do I need to uninstall the suite and salvage the license before upgrading to Windows 7?
Basically what it comes down to is that cannot do a direct upgrade from XP to 7 and will need to reinstall CS4 and reuse the license, will this cause a problem or will I have to uninstall from XP and salvage the license?

Thank you very much!  Just what I was looking for.

  • NI design suite license issues

    Hi
I'm having the following license problems.
    - The NI design suite license works only for Multisim, it doesn't work for Ultiboard, does that means a license for
Ultiboard is also needed. Besides that, Multisim works only in restricted mode, all the components are disable.
After loading, it complained that the Multisim.cnf file was missing. See attahed file for details.
    - The license for LabVIEW 2009 activated only the NI LabVIEW 2009, not the NI application builder which therefore
means  i can't evaluate the NI application builder.
Please, how can this be resolved.
    Thanks for the support.

  • CS4 suite licensing/naming problems revealed on update attempt

    Hello,
I have the Adobe CS4 Creative Suite.  I recently tried to update my Adobe products, but the updates have been failing, revealing some strange problems that I think might be related to licensing or the location of the applications themselves.  My applications are not located in the default location.  I have changed the names of some of the applications and moved the Adobe folder around, so I'm not sure what the default path to any of these applicaitons should be.
    There are two problems.
    1) I have tried running the updaters for Fireworks, Flash, Photoshop, and Soundbooth.  Each time, the updater fails and tells me that the application its trying to update is not installed.  Well, I know the applications are installed, and I can open and use them without a problem.  Could the updater be failing to find the applications because they're not in the default location?
    2) When I try to run the Acrobate updater program, I am asked to locate the Acrobat application.  When I navigate to the Acrobat applicaton with the file selection dialog box that opens, the application is greyed out and not a viable option to select.
    3) Acrobat is giving me an error whenever I try to launch the program.  When I try to open Adobe Acrobat Pro 9, I get a message saying that "Licensing for this product has stopped working.  You cannot use this product at this time.  You must repair the problem by uninstalling and then reinstalling this product or contacting your IT administrator or Adobe customer support for help. (0)".
These are probably separate issues, but any advice on any of them, or where to start with troubleshooting, would be greatly appreciated.
BTW, I'm running OS 10.6.8 on a MacBook Pro.
    Thanks!

Yes, I figured that.  I guess I should have been more clear.  I don't remember what the default path is anymore.  Can anyone tell me the default install location and names of the Adobe Creative Suite Applications?

  • CS4 / CS3 licensing issues & uninstalling errors

    Hi everyone,
Last year on November, I had installed a trial version of AE CS4 on my Mac 10.5, after the 30 days, I purchased CS4 production premuim and installed into my Mac machine. Since then CS4 cannot be used because of "License Expired," I have been consulting with Adobe Techical Support to use CS3 and CS4 cleaner to clean the affected files, and even to fool the computer clock, but I still cannot reslove the issues for over 9 months.
Recently, I tried the following suggested solutions:
    - Copying Adobe PCD, caps, backup folder to desktop and reluanched the applications -- doesn't work!!
    - Fooling computer clock -- doesnt' work!
    - Deleting the FLEXnet Publisher preferences folder - doesn't work!
    - Running the License Repair Tool "LicenseRecoveryLauncher.app" - 2 attamps still don't work!
    - Repairing Disk Permissions - doesn't work!
    Now, my Adobe crisis are
    1)  Can't unistall both CS3 and CS4 application:
error : The alias "Uninstall Adobe After Effects CS4 [or other application name]" could not be opened, because the original item cannot be found.
error : The alias "Add or REmove Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium" could not be opened, because the original item cannot be found.
PLEASE HELP to fix the Alias / something else for uninstall both CS3 / CS4 applications
    2) CS3 Design Premium is corrupted by CS4 "License Expired" and the error message is "Licensing for this product has stopped working.
PLEASE HELP to fix the CS4 "License Expired" issues
Thanks in advance for your valuable time!!

  • Old Creative Suite license issue

We have an old physical copy of Creative Suite 1.0 with disks and license sticker on the box. The license is currently in use on an old XP machine that we need to upgrade to Window 7. There is no deactivate option, and the product will not activate once installed on Win7.
We talked to one Adobe representative who said the CS1 & 2 activation servers were taken down. He referred me to a web link with downloadable CS2 media with a license key (yes CS2 not the CS1 that we have).
After downloading and installing this with the license key provided, it says there is a problem with the license. I talked to another rep who said they only handle customer service and that I need to post on the forums for technical support.
So can someone help us out here? We just want to get our old product re-activated.
    Thanks.

Yea, I noticed this the first time I did the setup because it asked me to enter the next disc. I will go ahead and try this again, but the fact that it didn't ask me about the other disc and said it installed successfully makes me  think I did the install fine and the license just isn't working.
EDIT: I noticed this after reading over the instructions page again: "You can use the serial numbers provided as a part of the download only if you legitimately purchased CS2, CS2 applications, Acrobat 7, or Audition 3".
Does this have anything to do with the sign in ID used to access the downloads page? As I mentioned before, we have the CS1 Suite, but the Adobe rep took us to the CS2 download page; I'm guessing because the CS1 is older and harder to deal with activation. I asked the second Adobe rep about this when the install didn't work, and he asked which ID we used to purhase CS1. I explained to him it wasn't an email address since this was back when there were user IDs that were not email addresses. This is when he referred me to the forums.
    Thanks.

    Hi
I am trying to help out my dad who had Premiere Elements 9 installed on his PC. Due to malfunction of the PC a total reinstallwas performed.
PE9 was uninstalled but now he tries to reinstall and the license does not work anymore because it is considered already in use.

  • CS4 Licensing Issue

Can no longer use PS due to licensing issue. Told to see my IT people! I'm a single user and I AM IT!
    What to do?
    Thanks.

Funny you say that... this started only AFTER I just repaired
    permissions.
I've written to Adobe Support but their policy is that responses
usually take up to 3 days....In the meantime, I boot to an external
running 10.5.8 and do any PS work there until I get a fix.
so much for a good support system from Adobe.
    Thanks anyway.

  • Photoshop CS4 re install issue

Hi folks, I recently purchased a pre intel G5 power pc, that came fully loaded with all installation disks copied in various places. (ilife, CS4 suite etc.) I was having issues with my CS4 photoshop recognizing my Epson V300. After a few internet searches I was told that if I uninsall my ps, then reinstall it and located the "goodies" folder I could copy the twain resource and all would be well... so of course I uninstalled using the Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Premium folder that I located in an Adobe Installers folder in my utilities folder. Now if I attempt to re install, it's not on the list of installs. any help out there? much thanks, I don't have the original disks as I purchased this loaded (supposedly with all installation items copied on the secondary drive)
    much thanks
    JMH

Did you specifically buy the Adobe Photoshop license (serial number) with that Mac system?
Or does the original user still have the media and serial number to use on their newer Mac (or did they use it to buy an upgrade)?  If any of these are the case, you don't have a valid license for Photoshop and no one here is going to be able to help you.

  • CS4 suite serial number does not work for Adobe Acrobat Pro

    Hello,
I am looking for a solution for the serial number issue I am having with Adobe Acrobat Pro. All of other programs within the suite open fine, but when I open Adobe Acrobat Pro it asks for a serial number. When I type in the serial number, I am given a red "X".
I have called customer support, but they haven't been able to give me any information that will resolve my issue (uninstalled 4 times now). I have Vista and have looked online and on the Adobe website to find a solution. It looks like others are having the same issue from what I can tell while searching. I have run the script too and then reinstalled, but still nothing.

After some stupid upgrade in my computer (who knows as Microsoft is always doing something), my Acrobat 9 in CS4 stopped working. The error message said to uninstall and reinstall Acrobat. So I went through the control panel and uninstalled it. I then loaded the CD and reinstalled. However the reinstall would NOT accept the orginal serial number. I called Adobe and they gave me a different serial number. Before I let the guy nof the line I tried the  number and it did NOT work! So then he gave me another number which  asked for the previous verison- apparently it was an upgrade number. Luckily I had my old CS3 software and I gave it that number and then it accepted the install. The program now works BUT there is no longer any ADD/REMOVE choice in the CS4 suite in the control panel. There is no way to automatically remove this program anymore! What a mess.
After reading some of the installation problems others have had and no solutions, I count myself lucky! At least I was able to get the program running.
Therefore my advise on the serial number problem is to get Adobe on the phonen and get them to give you a number that will work, and don't hang up until you know the program is working!
If anyone knows how to add the Acrobat to the the add/remove functions in the control panel, please let me know!

yes the user as full admin right!
Windows system error code 0xC0000005 indicates ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED.
This implies a permissions issue is causing your problem.
Please consider this very, very carefully:
In Windows 7 or Vista, a user with admin privileges is NOT, by default, running with administrative privileges.  There is a process called USER ACCESS CONTROL (UAC) that "elevates" your privileges.
Thus your quick answer, quoted above, does not answer the problem.
Try actually running the Photoshop executable "As Administrator", or lowering your UAC setting level.
If these things do not help, then you have a folder permissions issue.  That's correctable too, but let's move one step at a time.

  • Adobe CS3 Licensing Issue

I have Vista Business, Adobe CS3 with student licensing. It has worked great for three months. Now I'm back in school and I get an error that says "Licensing for this product has stopped working:". It is registered.
I've followed all of the fixes listed here and it still will not work. I have emailed support and they gave me the same fixes as here. Someone must know how to fix it, it's their software.
I tried to uninstall but all I get is the Install Wizard. I went through it once, inserted the disk and waited patiently. I have rebooted each and every time I've made changes. NOTHING WORKS!. I can't even unistall it, that is strange.
Does someone have another method of getting this going again. I have assignments due and it has really caused me a lot of stress.
    Thanks for the help,

  • Reinstalling CS4

I've been having issues with CS4 opening, I attempt to open it and it freezes then crashes. I talked to someone who knows a little about Macs and they told me to unisall InDesign and then reinstall it. I uninstalled it, but cannot figure out how to reinstall it. The company that I work for bought CS4 Suite online in 2009 and they saved everything to a hard drive. I opened up the file that they saved on the hard drive and there is nothing there to let me reinstall InDesign. HELP! I use this program daily! I called Adobe and they told me that they no longer support CS4.

If you have a Serial number you can download from here:

  • Adobe acrobat 9 pro installation/licensing issues

I installed my licensed copy of Acrobat 9 on a new Windows  7 system.  Acrobat launched but would not open files and shuts down on attempt. Message is "Licensing for this product has stopped working" with subtext "You cannot use the product at this time. You must repair the problem by uninstalling and then reinstalling this product or contacting your IT administrator or Adobe customer support for help."
I doubt any of you have a solution, so I simply remark on what transpired as a warning and complaint:
    1.  I went to Adobe databse and found that a patch was provided to correct installations/licensing problems on windows 7.  I downloaded it and installed per instructions.  It did not resolve the problem.
    2.  I uninstalled/reinstalled several times. no resolution.
    3.  I called customer support and was outsourced to someone who knew little and first sent me to a kb article having to do with 'expired licensing' even though I clearly informed them that the message and the fact had nothing to do with expired licenses.  They finally referred me to kb405970 on "Licensing has stopped working".  I tried all of the applicable solutions (methods 1-6) and none of them worked.  Now I will have to wait until tomorrow (though I had pressing work to do today) to contact support again.  I fear I will get another outsourced tech who knows little and wastes more of my time.  Such is Adobe's way of supporting paid and licensed product users.
I understand and sympathize with Adobe's wishes to protect its products from piracy.  However, I expect and paid for a product which works on major and supported operating systems like windows 7. I also understand that if MS or Mac put out a new OS or version, it may require certain adjustments or updates on Adobe's part.  What I do not understand (or have patience with) is that 1) Adobe failed to provide a patch that works; 2) that it then sends me to an outsourced customer service tech who didn't have the knowledge to correct the problem and gave me the wrong information to begin with*. What I finally got was the kb article with a series of multi-step instructions for several methods, none of which worked.  This is an unprofessional and unethical response to those of us who have paid for our product and expect it to work under reasonable conditions in a supported environment.  This is not an acceptable good-faith effort to resolve issues for which Adobe should take full responsibility.
If any of you do happen to have a real solution (or had a similar problem) do let me know....
*The first thing the outsourced tech wished to do was get onto my machine via a remote connection, before anything was tried other than giving them the error message and have them provide me with the wrong information. It became clear that this person had less knowledge than I do (which isn't saying much) and there was no way I was going to permit a clueless techie to crawl around in my machine and fiddle with settings.  That is simply asking for trouble. I'm perfectly capable of opening panels and following instructions myself. DC should be the last thing tried; not the first.

Bill,  I tried as you suggested - installed every update from 9.1  through 9.3.4.  The 'license not working message persists'. The only change was that now Acrobat will not close and must be forced to shut down from the taskbar menu.  I appreciate the suggestion though.
Called Adobe (Manila) again, within the hours given on their contact page for installation and licensing issues, and was told "It's Sunday, nobody here can help you".  Finally, after an hour of hammering got them to get me a supervisor (their script says to tell the customer there "Is no supervisor available on Sunday"  -  Finally the "supervisor", Alvin, suggested I need a new serial number and left me on the line while he called someone else to get on. Cameback and informed me that he couldn't get one, I'd have to call Monday (how's that for having solutions?)  Result: wasted more time and had more delay on my project.
Conclusion:  Adobe has become obsessed and 'piranoic' about piracy and licensing to the extent that they put that first and client/customer needs second (if that).  After reading a lot of online 'Adobe Sucks'  forums, I'm inclined to believe Adobe is shooting itself in its own foot and is not going to be a reliable method of presentation/document transmission in the future - service and support is an integral part of software and other concerns such as piracy or licensing need to be transparent to legitimate users.  Sad that they spend so much time on this, when they need to be fixing real problems.  As well, these outsourcing Philipines companies are poor substitutes for good support - they are so scripted and obsessed with regulations over solutions that it is clear that only the most persistent users will get anywhere with them.  As a frontline of contact with after-sale clients, they are going to cost Adobe a lot of potential business in the future, whatever their short-term savings.  Too bad. Adobe used to be a leader in the market.
Next round:  Calling Manila again this am. to be continued...
