  • Difference between Cost Center and GL Account

    Hi All,
I want to know that "what is the difference between Cost Center and GL Account."
    Regards

    Hi Vidya,
    Few points:
    1. GL is a FI object and used for external reporting, whereas cost centers are CO objects and used for internal management reporting.
    2. In GL you classify the nature of expenses like telephone expenses, travelling Exp. Salary exp etc., whereas by cost center you decide where are expenses were incurred, like Production department, Mkt. Department, HR department etc.
    3. You post the FI transactions at GL level whereas the cost center are assigned to those GL account for getting the more detailed information about the expenses.
    4. GL accounts are P&L and BS account and only P&L expenses accounts are posted to cost cneters. And you can choose to post it by cost center or not by defining the GL as cost element. If you do not define any GL as cost element, it will not post to cost centers.
I hope it answers your question.
    thanks,
    Vivek

    Hello,
There is no word called removal in SAP. It would have been properly pronounced if say "Delete".
In case of delete, I do accept, there should not be any planned or actual line items during the fiscal year. If there are any actual or planned lines items you cannot delete the cost center during that period.
However, you can still delete the cost center in the next fiscal year if there are no actual or planned line items.
    Hope this makes clear.

  • Relation between a Purchase Organisation and Reference PORg

    Hi ,
    1) Can any one explain me what is the relation between a Purchase Organisation and Reference Purchase Organistion.
    2) I have removed the assignment of Purchase organisation 1000 to the Reference POrg 6666 . I want to do the testing in development server after making the above configuation change. Can any one let me know how to do the testing to see that this configuration change is taken place?.
    Thanks in advance.

    hi
Ref. Pur Organisation is used when there is no centralized pur. organisation. You have to define 1 pur. organsation as refernce pur. organisation and link other pur orgnisations to this ref. pur. orgaisation. When you create a contract using this pur. organisation and this contract can be used by other pur orgasations which are linked to this ref. pur oganisation.
Ref. Pur Organisation is basically used for better negotiation.
    Eg- You are having 2 plants (A & B) of 2 different company code(A & B).
    1. Pur org A is assigned to company code A & plant A
    2. Pur Orga B is assigned to company code B & plant B.
    3. Ref pur organisation C is created and linked to Pur organisation A and B.
    Scenario -
Vendor A can supply Material A 1000 qty at Rs. 100 whereas more than 1000 qty at Rs. 90.
But your requirement for Plant A is Rs. 800 and Plant B is Rs.700
If you create a contract on plant basis to the Vendor A then you have to pay Rs. 100.
But if you create a contract with ref pur organisation C for total requirement of Rs.1500 without plant basis then rate will be only Rs.90.
Then this contract can referred by both the plant and can be converted to P.O at Rs.90.

  • Difference between cost component structure and cost component split

can anyone explain me the difference between cost component structure and cost component split with simple example
    thanks
    santosh

    Hi ,
    cost component structure
    Definition
    Number that identifies the structure.
    Use
In Product Cost Controlling, the cost component structure determines how the results of material costing are updated. The cost component structure groups the costs for each material according to cost component (such as material costs, internal activities, external activities, and overhead). If the material is used in the production of another material, the cost component split (which breaks down the costs according to material costs, internal activities, external activities, overhead, and so forth) remains in the system when the costs are rolled up.
In the cost component split, you also define the following for material costing:
Which part of the costs are fixed costs
    Which costs are
cost of goods manufactured and what are sales and administration costs
Which costs are relevant for stock valuation, commercial inventory valuation and tax inventory valuation
When the cost component structure is assigned to the organizational units, you can specify that two cost component splits are created:
    Main cost component split
This is the principal cost component split, meaning that it is used in the standard cost estimate, which can be used to update the material master. The main cost component split can be a cost component split for cost of goods manufactured or a primary cost component split.
    Auxiliary cost component split
This can exist in addition to the main cost component split, and is not used in the standard cost estimate. It can be used for analysis purposes, in that it can be displayed with the cost estimate and passed on to Profitability Analysis.
In Cost Center Accounting, the cost component structure determines how the results of the activity price calculation are updated. The cost component structure groups the costs for each activity type of the cost center according to components (such as material costs and labor costs). If an internal activity allocation is carried out, the cost component split (which breaks down the costs according to material, labor costs, and so forth) is retained at cost rollup.
If the cost component split is not to be retained, you can create a switching structure for the cost component structure for Cost Center Accounting. In the switching structure, you specify which sender cost component goes into which receiver cost component.
<b>require a cost component structure to calculate prices using cost component split.</b>
For each cost component structure you define a component such as energy, personnel, or raw materials. The components combine all costs occuring for a particular cost element area. In this way, you ensure greater cost transparency in activity price calculation when putting together the activity type prices - for example, it becomes easier to find how much of the activity price is taken up by the material costs.
In activity allocation, the cost component structure remains constant, meaning that the receiver takes on the sender cost elements and that the allocated costs are posted in the same cost components in the receiver as in the sender.
A cost component structure can have a maximum of 40 defined cost components.
Cost components are assigned to cost elements. You thereby determine which cost elements go to which rows in the structure, and how these components are updated in price calculation.
    Hope ths helps

  • Define main objects for Drag & Relate between BW 3.1 and EP6

    hi all.
We are trying to implement Drag & Relate between BW 3.1 and EP6.
We have 2 different BW reports based on the same object "0MATERIAL". One of them should be a source and the other is the target. When creating the iViews for these reports the "main object" property has no values, therefor we don't see any symbol near the object we want to drag. The import of the "0MATERIAL" object from BW to the portal was successful.
Is it related to customizing the BW system or the portal?
    thanks,
    Sagi

I solved the problem - I added the BW alias before the main object name in the main object property. For example "BW.0MATERIAL" when BW is the BW system alias and 0MATERIAL is the object name.

  • Difference between cost center & Responsible cost center in asset master

I want to know difference between cost center & responsible cost center in asset master on following perspective.
    1. Financial accounting veiw -
    2. Business & report veiw.
I have read through F1 help
    Cost Center
Key uniquely identifying a cost center.
    Use
The SAP system uses the cost center assignment in the asset master record to determine the cost center affected when the following types of asset posting are made:
    Fixed asset depreciation
    Gain/loss from asset sales
    Cost center responsible for asset
Cost center that is responsible for the asset, but which does not carry the depreciation for the asset.
    Example
For example, the cost center "vehicles" can be responsible for all vehicles, while other cost centers carry the depreciation for the vehicles
I can understand from F1 what will be the impact on finance accounting.  My question is how it helps in reporting etc & business logic for using responsible cost center. Which report will be usefull to see data at responsible cost center.

  • Is there a relation between  Adobe Photoshop CS6 and Photoshop Premiere 12?

Is there a relation between  Adobe Photoshop CS6 and Photoshop Premier 12.  I am presently attending a course on CS6.  Is there a certain similitude between these 2 logiciels?

    Hi Luciebiss,
Photoshop is a professional tool used throughout many industries as the standard for digital image manipulation and painting. It has very rich, and often complex, tools and options. As such, it comes with a professional price tag.
Photoshop Elements is a consumer product. It's made for users who don't need as many features and complex options. It has a simpler design, guided workflows, and an organizer to help you manage your files.

  • Cost Center Group and Profit center Group

    Hi All,
The Client is requested to have Cost Center Group in the CO reports. I have trying to analyse how to get Cost center group in the report or Info Provider.
When i went to T-code KS03 in ECC ( Display Cost Center), i get the Hierarchy Area field called KHINR, which shows the Cost center grp. Upon discussing with Functional person, he has told that this Field lies in Table CSKS (Cost Center Master).
Now i am thinking to enhance the Cost Center Attribute Dsrc. with this Field KHINR.
I just want some suggestions or advice on how to bring Cost center grp and Profit center grp
    Thanks and Regards
Edited by: Raihaan Khan on Dec 12, 2008 3:35 PM

Hello Simon, Thanks again for all your FICO resolutions.
Yes i truly agree that Cost Center Grp is CostCenter Hierarchy,, but i dont understand, y the Client has told that he needs the field KHINR in the Cost Center Report too.
Actually he wants Cost Center Group wise report and NOT Cost center wise report.
I have thght of extracting the Complete Std Hierarchy to 0COSTCENTER and then in the report , i can give a Cost Center Hierarchy Variable(probably a selection screen), such that the User can select the Nodes he want and then drill down the CostCenter Groups to see his respective Cost center accounting.
    Please opinionate on this
    Thanks

  • Relation between the Project defination and the PO

    Hi ,
Where I can find the relation between the Project defination and Purchase order in CJ20 transaction or in Tables.

Project definition: A project definition identifies the key characteristics of the overall project. For example, a project definition includes the project profile and organizational details (controlling area, company code, etc.).
All project definitions must include a settlement rule. A settlement rule contains a G/L account that receives the accrued actuals. In some situations, a settlement rule uses multiple G/L accounts. For example, one G/L account is used for settlement for the first half of a year, but in the second half, a different G/L account is used. However, the settlement rule does not allow for multiple receivers to be active at the same time.

  • Differences between Costing based COPA and Account based COPA

    Hi,
I wanted to know the main differences between Costing based COPA and Account based COPA?
For which scenarios account based COPA used and for which scenarios costing based copa used.
    please guide me
    sateesh

    HI
Costing-based Profitability Analysis is the form of profitability analysis that groups costs and revenues according to value fields and costing-based valuation approaches, both of which you can define yourself. It guarantees you access at all times to a complete, short-term profitability report.
Account-based Profitability Analysis is a form of profitability analysis organized in accounts and using an account-based valuation approach. The distinguishing characteristic of this form is its use of cost and revenue elements. It provides you with a profitability report that is permanently reconciled with financial accounting
