  • Feature Request, option to relink all unlinked layer masks when transforming multiple layers at once.

    As a professional PS artist who works on files with sometimes hundreds of layers, I often need to transform many layers or groups at once. It is a nightmare to find that after the transformation, a mask did not get included in the transformation, (especially when the file is many gigs large, and the transformation took 15 minutes). Sometimes, a mask is accidentally unlinked, but more commonly I unlink it temporarily, but forget to relink it. There is currently no way that I'm aware of to find these pesky unlinked layers, other than going through every single one. What would work great is to have a popup asking if you would like to relink all unlinked layers, whenever you're transforming multiple layers that include one or more unlinked masks. Or else have an option in the layers palette to either select or relink all unlinked layered masks. Hope this makes sense. Cheers!

    Michael,
    It looks like you are right! Thank you for your help.
    I still have a small concern. I looked at the documentation and it reads,
    "The configuration settings for a cache instance are stored in the USER_SDO_CACHED_MAPS metadata view. You should normally not manipulate this view directly, but should instead use the MapViewer administration tool, which uses this view to configure map cache instances."
    But, I tried inserting records into USER_SDO_CACHED_MAPS and it works, and I can't really see any reason not to directly insert records into this table, so...
    Perhaps that warning is there simply because potentially you could screw things up tinkering with the table directly.
    Cheers!

  • Relinking all files in a document...

    Hi all,
    I'm running InDesign CS6 on Mac (Mountain Lion).  I am working off site from my office for a while, so I've copied all the files from our server onto my desktop.  All of the filenames, folders are identical to those on the server.
    The problem is, when I take an InDesign file, all of the links are broken because it's trying to search the server.  Is there an easy way to relink all of the files in my document?
    Thanks!

    I interpret the OP to say he is recreating a file structure on his home workstation that matches the structure on the server, which may or may not be putting all the links into a single folder and putting that folder inthe same location as the .indd file (and I would have to say that since he's getting missing links that cannot be what is happening).
    Packaging would, indeed, stop the missing link warning at home because that is the file structure that gets created inthe package folder. The problem is that the .indd file iin the package no longer has links to the original locations on the server, but to the new copies of the links in the package folder. Moving that file back to the server opens up the possibility that you now have two copies of all the linked assests and if they need to be updated the wrong ones will be modified or relinked at some point. This is a can of worms that I wouldn't want to open. You are quite correct, though, that whatever the OP does, if he relinks the files at home, he's setting up a missing link problem back in the office when he takes the file back.
    I think the best course of action is to ignore the link warnings and just edit the text, but I don't know the scope of the work that needs to be done, nor if the files will ever be returned to the office or if they need to be output from home, all of which are important parts of the puzzle.

  • How to relink all the image after moving the folders?

    I have a lot of illustrator files in folder A and each file has tons of images from different folders (B, C, D...). All of these folders are inside a main root folder.
    Recently I moved this root folder to an external drive then all the illustrator files disconnect with the images. Is there any way to relink all of those images all together instead of relink them one by one?
    Thanks!

    Thanks but then does it mean I not only have to relink everything but also have to gather all the images from different folders and put them in the same folder as the ai files? The images are from at least 20 different folders and there are more than a hundred of images in these 20 ai files.
    I would say you made a big mistake by moving all those image especially since you know you had 20 ai files each with hundred of images.
    Even if you did not move them this is a poor workflow sinvce for out put you more than likely would need to collect those linked images. That can be too much fun.

  • Relink all for 8.0.5.2

    Hello,
    Does anyone know if there is a 'relink all' for 8.0.5.2. If not, is there a equivalent to this in version 8.0.5.2. I need the relink because I copied the ORACLE_HOME from one box to the other and I need to do a relink for the binary to work on the new box.
    Has anyone copy the binary of 8.0.5.2 to a new box and made it work? Thank you.

    Are these two boxes exactly the same?
    Could you not have installed that version of software, instead of just copying?
    It creates several other files and directories that may still be missing for everything to work correctly.
    What type of issues are you currently having that require that relink step?
    Have you considered moving to a more recent supported version of the database?

  • Raid rebuild need to relink all folders to LR 5

    Since Adobe makes it impossible to talk to them and I am forced to post this question here. I had to rebuilda raid from my back drives now all the files are no longer linked and have the little question mark how can I relink all the folder at one time? I don't want to do each folder individually as I have way to many to do that. I think there is a merge function however not sure how to do it and I don't want to screw this up and have to rebuild my raid again once is enough. Thank you for your help!

    The ? means something is different in the path to the images than when they were first imported.  What is different: a device name or drive letter or top-level path folder name?  If so, then the easiest thing is to make the drive-letter or device name or top-level folder name the same as before.
    If this is not possible, then you want to relink things (via right-click Locate Missing Folder) as high as possible in the folder tree--the top level folders.  If you do that than all the folders underneath will also change without having to go to them individually.

  • How can I relink all of my music to iTunes

    I followed the instructions with the new version of Itunes to relocate my music.  I consolidated as the instructions recommended, I think.
    I did this to put my system folders onto a new main drive, an SSD.  Things are much faster now, but then I opened itunes for the first time.
    First time I open it, it tells me to choose an itunes folder or make a new one.  I try to choose the new location on another drive and it says it won't work  and returns me to the previous window.  Totally circular with no way out.
    So, I point it to the location of my old itunes folder on my new cloned SSD - bingo it works and allows me out of the endless loop.  Ok, but then when it opens up - nearly all of 80gb worth of music will not play and has no cover art!  Now I'm concerned.  Turns out all of my songs are on the new hard drive as they should be, great!  But what am I supposed to do now?  And why is this so difficult?
    How do I relink the consolidated library to my music files?
    Also, can't copy back the folder of music to original location - I had to move it since the SSD has less space than the old HD did.
    Thanks for any help,
    magazine

    Sorry for not getting back with you...
    That moves only the iTunes media, not the iTunes library (which is really kinda nebulous).
    iTunes library = iTunes folder and all the media, wherever it is located.
    The /Music/iTunes/ folder contains the iTunes library.itl file, which keeps track of everything in iTunes.
    I do however still have the original MAIN startup drive still in the computer, it's just not the startup.
    This is good you still have it.
    Try this...
    Hold Option and launch iTunes.
    Select Choose library... and select the /iTunes/ folder on the original drive. It should be in /Users/your_user_name/Music/.
    Don't mess with anything. We can get it cleared up.
    Does everything work okay?

  • How to relink to all VI's at once?

    I changed the terminals of a subVI that is used many times in my code. Do I really have to relink to all of them manually? Or is there a "relink all" option somewhere?
    Certified LabVIEW Developer (CLD)

    I believe that you have to relink them all individually. You can also do a search for all instances of that VI. This will keep you from having to hunt them all down yourself.

  • HELP!!  I viewed my "backup" files, and now ALL of my photos are no longer "linked" to Lightroom.

    I thought I was missing some files, so I viewed my backup files.  I received a "warning" that Lightroom would restart and view my backup files.  I did NOT receive any warning, that there was NO GOING BACK!!  I've tried everything.  I cannot re-link ANY of my photos.  Well, I did just do one, and it told me all the other photos in the folder were corrupt and Lightroom would not be able to edit them (and no, it was not an exported .jpeg file).  Fortunately, I am not concerned about this folder, that's why I tested it.  I was forced to moved all of my photos from my C drive to my D drive because for some weird reason on this computer, my D drive is 5 times bigger and I ran out of room.  When I did that, I was able to relink all the pictures.  Sadly, it didn't keep my Folders, it just relinked them all by date.  That I can deal with, even though it makes finding photos much more difficult, but I wasn't about to try to rename any of them and have to relink again.
    Now, I can't relink any of them because it appears in Lightroom that all photos are back in the C drive and therefore, the new photos that I placed on the D drive are not there, and nothing will relink, period, not even the ones that were originally on my C drive!
    I have never been so aggravated in my life.  I LOVE Lightroom capabilities.  I have version 2.3.  When I look it up on the online help, all I get is how the photos are in whatever location they were saved, but they are linked, etc.  I already know that part.  I seriously wish I had NEVER looked at my backup files.  I don't think I'll bother backing up stuff anymore because apparently looking at the backup messes up everything.
    I fully anticipated that I would be able to go back, choose my folders on my D drive and have all of my current photos available.  Sadly, not.
    My user name should be FREAKED OUT!

    Thanks!  I've been practicing deep breathing between yelling at my computer.  I use Windows 7.  I was in my "regular" Lightroom photos, and I couldn't locate some pictures I took last December.  So, I thought, well, why not look at the back up files?  I'm normally excellent at remembering exact steps, but I'm so worried about all of my thousands of photos, I can only explain what I think I did.  I went into Windows Explorer, and chose the backup files.  When I did, I received the warning about Lightroom restarting and loading the backup photos.  I hesitated for a full minute, but thought, well, isn't that what backup files are for?  So, I selected it. Lightroom opened the backup photos without any problem.  But, when I went back, and tried opening the photos that were linked to Lightroom, they were no longer linked.  When I click on the formerly linked photos, they just open in Windows Explorer, not Lightroom.  When I open Lightroom, it has says all the photos are "missing."  All of the folders are listed in my C drive (in Lightroom), not where they'd been moved to on my D drive.  The one photo I relinked, stated the photos in that folder could not be edited in Lightroom.  So, I'm afraid to try to relink anymore of them. Also, as I said, any photos that I originally imported to my D drive are not showing up in Lightroom at all.
    I would say, I normally learn software quickly. That was my experience with Lightroom.  I installed it, went through all of the online training sessions, and have loved it.  Admittedly, I'm sure there are features that I don't make use of that many people do, but I'm just a passionate photography nut, not a professional.
    The online help basically explains the linking, and even how to relink if you "move" a file, a folder to another location.  It doesn't cover this, or not where I can find it.
    I've think I've given up on yelling at the computer, now I just have knots in my stomach about getting photos relinked.  I have probably 80% of them exported, with the adjustments I made, but that does not make me feel one bit better.
    Thanks!!!

  • How do I relink multiple instances of the same image, in Illustrator CC?

    Is there a feature, like InDesign, where links automatically relink if they're in the same folder?
    Currently I have to search through the file structure multiple times even if the linked image is the same.
    Surely Illustrator should relink all instances of the same image and give the option search for any additional missing links in the same folder?
    I'd love to be pointed in the right direction, or if anyone has a script they've written to solve the problem, do let me know.
    Cheers

    try the script (version 3) in this post,

  • Is there a way to create a keyboard shortcut to relink images in Illustrator CS5?

    I know you can in InDesign but doesn't look like it in Illustrator. Anyone know for sure?
    Thank you!!

    Here you go, this script relinks all selected images to the same image, but it works as well for one image.
    #target Illustrator
    // script.name = relinkAllSelected.jsx;
    // script.description = relinks all selected placed images at once;
    // script.required = select at least one linked image before running;
    // script.parent = CarlosCanto // 7/12/11;
    // script.elegant = false;
    var idoc = app.activeDocument;
    sel = idoc.selection;
    if (sel.length>0)
              var file = File.openDialog ("open file");
              for (i=0 ; i<sel.length ; i++ )
                       if (sel[i].typename == "PlacedItem")
                                var iplaced = sel[i];
                                iplaced.file = file;
    else
              alert("select at least one placed item before running");

  • Is there no way to re-link all files on a drive at once? Lightroom ask to "combine folders" instead?

    Hi,
    I would like to relink all the photos in my LR5 catalogue to a new drive to which I have copied all the items using Finder (and not from within LR unfortunately).
    When clicking on the exclamation mark next to the "missing" photo with "Find Nearby Missing Photos" checked, I can relink all photos in that folder. The same is true if done through the folder pane to the left. But when trying to relink several folders at once, like e.g. when selecting the main 2014 folder, it only says that the folders are already recognized and offers to "combine" them and offers no other re-link alternative. Relinking each folder manually would be too time consuming and I am sure there has to be a way to do this since it was possible already in LR3 (and probably before that).
    What does "combine folders" mean in this context and how would I go about to solve this? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
