Remote debugging the Oracle weblogic 10.3.3 from eclipse

As I see the startWeblogic.cml, I am finding it totally different frim the earlier scripts. I need to do remote debugging of the weblogic 10.3.3 from eclipse. Can someone guide me. Here below is the script of startweblogic.cmd I am finding on the oracle weblogic server. Need help as I need to do the remote debugging.

• Patchset3 (11.1.1.4/wls 10.3.4) Remote debugging JDPA in weblogic cluster

Hi,
I am using Patchset3 (JDeveloper 11.1.1.4/ weblogic server 10.3.4). I was wondering how i can remote debug with
a) weblogic managed server that is part of a weblogic cluster
b) the cluster itself that contains multiple managed servers.
Note that i do understand how to remote debug against a weblogic server (e.g. http://jdeveloperfaq.blogspot.com/2009/12/faq-4-how-to-remote-debug-adf.html), but have not been able to find out how i can achieve this against a cluster that has multiple managed servers. Any directions will be appreciated.
Thanks,

Hi,
haven't tried it but here are some suggestions that might be of help:
1) Each managed server for each cluster node should be setup for remote debugging. This means that each managed server must be started with the -Xdebug -Xnoagent -Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,address=4000,server=y,suspend=n* options in the WebLogic start-up script. Also Tunneling must be enabled for each managed server for each cluster node.
2) Make sure that you specify a different connection port for each managed server. This is indicated by the address* specifier above.
3) It seems logical to me that you will need to start separate instances of JDeveloper - one for each managed server that you need to attach to.
Let us know how it turns out,
Nick

• Remote debugging problem with Weblogic 9 in Eclipse

Hi,
I'm trying to test out debugging a test app using Eclipse as the IDE and the Weblogic 9.0 server. Debugging with 8.1 worked fine. No problems. When I start the 9.0 server, I get "Error launching remote debugging for external server, changing to non-debugging mode. Please check the debug port setting and ensure that the specified "start" executable launches the server with debugging enabled."
Any ideas where to start?
-Eric

Try this:
1. Login with administrator user
2. Security Realms > myrealm > Providers > DefaultAuthenticator > Migration > Export
3. Click on save button to get /DOMAINHOME/DefaultAuthenticator.dat file 4. Backup /DOMAIN_HOME/security/DefaultAuthenticator.ldift file
5. Move /DOMAINHOME/DefaultAuthenticator.dat file to /DOMAIN_HOME/security/ directory
6. Rename /DOMAIN_HOME/security/DefaultAuthenticator.dat to /DOMAIN_HOME/security/DefaultAuthenticator.ldift
7. Shutdown all servers
8. Delete LDAP directory in each server
9. Start up all servers
Good luck !

• Remote Debugging Oracle Weblogic 10.3 Server to Eclipse

Hi All,
I need to know a suitable way to link my eclipse debugger to Remotely running Weblogic 10.3 server. I have tried downloading server plugin in Eclipse and created a new one. I got it created. But when i try to start it, its throwing error as it cant be started. Please help me out in this issue.

Bharat,
Don't use the preview version, use the production version.
Really, don't use the preview - it was based on OC4J and not Weblogic, you will not be able to deploy anything to a production environment with the preview release.

• Error while debugging the Oracle Stored Proc Body

I am trying to debug a standalone Oracle Stored Proc. I keep a break point on the Package body, and JDeveloper doesn't seem to pick it up at all. I have made sure that are the prerequisites are met and all the instructions have been followed diligently, but still i keep getting this error message:
Unable to set breakpoint (C:\Program Files\JDeveloper\jdev\mywork\ADReports\ADReportsProject\packagebody staging.staging_reports.sql 57), unable to resolve Java package.
The Debugger doesn't seem to stop at the specified break point in the package body. Though it does connect to the DB, and shows all the data values inside the procs, and other stuff as mentioned in the debug tutorial/manual.
Some replied to my previous post saying that it was a bug with the JDeveloper itself and it has been fixed, so if this is the case, can someone point me to the right place where we can download the bug free version.
Thanks in advance

• Cannot Remote Debugging Weblogic 10

I can do a remote debugging in a same machine, but not from another machine. It appears to be some security issue. Basically start the machine with JAVA_OPTIONS=-Xdebug -Xnoagent -Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,address=4000,server=y,suspend=n option.
I know that the other machine can reach this machine. I can ping, I can connect to a simple test server on a different port. I did open the port 4000 on the firewall. So, it's not a network issue.
I can also use an IDE to connect to the server at port 4000 to debug.
From another machine, if I telnet this machine with port 4000, it gets disconnect after a couple seconds. If I do the same within the same machine, the telnet doesn't disconnect.
So, the 2 machines see each other. It's just Weblogic senses it's another machine and disconnect.
It points to security settings, but why the document here:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/howtos/weblogic/remotedebugwls.html
doesn't say anything about that?
Please help. Regards.

• Remote Debugging w/ Eclipse and Weblogic

Hi,
I'd like to debug my Servlets/EJB's running on a Weblogic 6.1 SP4. My
IDE is Eclipse 2.1
To enable remote debugging I start Weblogic with that additional JVM
options:
-classic -Xdebug -Xnoagent
-Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,address=5000,suspend=y,server=y
and configured my Remote Application in Eclipse accordingly.
The connection successes.
Problem: When I reach my breakpoint, Eclipse pops up an error message:
"Attempting to install a breakpoint in the type
com.xxx....
that has no line number attributes. The breakpoint cannot be
installed. Class files must be generated with the line number
attributes.
Reason:
Absent Line Number Information"
I compiled my sources with enabled debug option.
Any comments and ideas are appreciated.
Cheers,
Jan.

Sorry!
the debug option was NOT enabled (seems that my ant script is too
complex at this stadium...)

• Problems with ant auto-loading the base Oracle Weblogic Libraries

I'm trying to perform an ant build of a Portal Project, and I get errors trying to compile the files from classes that are part of the Oracle WebLogic Portal Server and WebLogic System Libraries. I've tried adding the two list of jars as pathelements in an ant classpath object, but the javac isn't picking up the jars properly. I feel like there should be a script or be able to call a preconfigured version of ant for this.
I'm using an external version of ant, but using the jdk160_05 from WebLogic.
In the javac I get initial errors of things like:
[javac] /vobs/.../Portal/src/Controller.java:1: package javax.servlet.http does not exist
[javac] import javax.servlet.http.HttpSession;
[javac] ^
[javac] /vobs/.../Portal/src/Controller.java:2: package org.apache.beehive.netui.pageflow does not exist
[javac] import org.apache.beehive.netui.pageflow.PageFlowController;

not very likely. run ant with the verbose and debug flags and see what gets printed out for classpath etc (these classes are in server/lib/api.jar i think) , no special characters in your paths right?

• What's the purpose of SQL Developer's remote debug?

AS per SQL Developer's "Remote debuggin", the user guide says "To debug a function or procedure for a
connection where the database is on a different
host than the one on which you are running SQL Developer, you can perform remote debugging."
I'm confused what's the prupose to do a remote debugging? Could you please give me a
scenario to help me clarify this term?
Thank you!
Jeff

Mmm, don't know if the database should really be on another host, but anyway it would be a characteristic, not a definition.
Remote debugging differs from normal debugging in the origin of the debugged session:
For normal debugging, you start a new session from within sqldev (local) and hook into the debugger (pretty easy and automated). For remote debugging, you hook whatever existing session (started from whatever program) on whatever host (remote) into the debugger (a bit more manual as you have to include the call to hook into the debugger yourself). Very useful for debugging remote sessions over a database link or a particular remote user situation which cannot be reproduced locally.
Have fun,
K.

• Remote debugging issue

I've used the following remote debug properties and able to remote debug the Weblogic server from Oracle workshop.
-Xdebug -Xnoagent -Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,address=8787,server=y,suspend=n
But this restricts to only one user/ client at any given time. Is there anyway inwhich one can enable mulitple user while remote debugging?
Amarnath

Not sure if it matters but I am using JDEV 9.0.3.4 with a 9.2.0.4 database and successfully stepped into and over a call to a java stored procedure from a PL/SQL trigger. I have a PL/SQL procedure which causes a trigger to be fired which in turn calls a Java Stored procedure.
Here is what I did:
1) create PL/SQL (including trigger and procedure) and deploy Java Stored Procedure
2) In SQLPlus send the command:
ALTER SESSION SET PLSQL_DEBUG=TRUE;
3) Execute the PL/SQL Procedure (which causes trigger to be fired)
4) In JDeveloper select Project properties->Debugger->remote and select JPDA Listen
5) Set a breakpoint in the trigger
6) Select debug and enter a port number for the listener
7) In SQLPLUS send the command:
CALL DBMS_DEBUG_JDWP.CONNECT_TCP( '<Your IP>', '<listener port>' );
8) Verify call succeeded is received in SQLPlus and debuggee connects to the debugger in JDeveloper.
9) Execute the PL/SQL procedure
10) When breakpoint hit stepped into the Java Stored procedure (which was not in the project so added to source path via the popup dialog)
11) stepped out of the Java Stored Procedure back into trigger
Hope this helps,
Bud

• Configuring Apache HTTP Server with Oracle Weblogic Server plugin

Hello friends,
I have a scenario of OIM 9.1.0.2 on Oracle Application Server 11g and Weblogic Server Apache HTTP Server.
Oracle WebLogic Server is configured in cluster (node1 and node2), also use the Oracle Weblogic Server plugin for integration with Apache.
One of the tests is to lose one of the nodes for the apache plugin redirects the node that has less overhead.
When the mode is node1 and node2 stop start mode and try to access the management console of Oracle Identity Manager, the plugin sometimes redirects to the other active node, and on another occasion shows the oracle management console identity manager without the colors of the basic look and feel.
Deputy of the Apache HTTP Server log, do you expect your comments to solve this case?

"One of the tests is to lose one of the nodes for the apache plugin redirects the node that has less overhead."
Note that the plug-in does a round robin load balancing, for example, in the case of three server (1,2,3) it does 1-2-3-1-2-3-1...
with server 3 going down it does 1-2-1-2-1...
An example configuration (with SSL off) looks as follows:
LoadModule weblogic_module "/home/oracle/weblogic12.1.1/apache/modules/mod_wl.so"
<IfModule weblogic_module>
ConnectTimeoutSecs 10
ConnectRetrySecs 2
DebugConfigInfo ON
WLSocketTimeoutSecs 2
WLIOTimeoutSecs 300
Idempotent ON
FileCaching ON
KeepAliveSecs 20
KeepAliveEnabled ON
DynamicServerList ON
WLProxySSL OFF
</IfModule>
<Location /LoadTest6>
SetHandler weblogic-handler
WebLogicCluster 172.31.0.175:7002,172.31.0.113:7003
</Location>Also see the complete example here: http://middlewaremagic.com/weblogic/?p=7795
"the plugin sometimes redirects to the other active node"
This is somewhat strange, do you have session binding turned off?
"and on another occasion shows the oracle management console identity manager without the colors of the basic look and feel."
This could happen due to mime types (not really sure just a hunch). Here is a general story on this concept: https://developer.mozilla.org/en/Properly_Configuring_Server_MIME_Types
and the apache module: http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/mod/mod_mime.html

• Remote debugging issue: Address already in use

First, I want to explain that to use remote debugging in oracle UCM server (IdcServerNT.exe), I add these lines at */server/bin/intradoc.cfg*:
JAVA_OPTIONS_debug_enable=-Xdebug
JAVA_OPTIONS_debug_options=-Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,server=y,address=8000,suspend=n
and since the JAVA_OPTIONS is shared between admin server (IdcAdminNT.exe) and non-admin server (IdcServerNT.exe), to prevent "Address already in use" error, I added same lines but with empty value into */server/admin/bin/intradoc.cfg*:
JAVA_OPTIONS_debug_enable=
JAVA_OPTIONS_debug_options=
or alternatively enable it but use different port for the "address=xxx".
Now the issue is when I had run the non-admin UCM server with remote debugging enabled, then I tried to run the Component Wizard, I got "Address already in use" error:
ERROR: transport error 202: bind failed: Address already in use ["transport.c",L41]
I found out that's possible because Component Wizard (ComponentWizard.exe) is using same setting file with non-admin server (IdcServerNT.exe): */server/bin/intradoc.cfg*. It's obvious that happened because of ComponentWizard.exe is in same location with IdcServerNT.exe, so I think other tools like Batch Loader and System Properties will be affected with same issue too.
Because of this issue, everytime I want to open Component Wizard, I had to stop the non-admin server which is inconvenient.
So, the question is there a way to define separately or disable the JAVA_OPTIONS_debug_enable & JAVA_OPTIONS_debug_options for Component Wizard?

Extending Thread is the wrong approach, since you're not creating a special kind of Thread.
