Remote desktop port forwarding comcast business class

i recently had a network change and i have lost my ability to remote into my computer at home from elsewhere using ARD.
i'm more than certain that it is the port forwarding that is not set up correctly on my comcast business class modem.  i do have a static IP.
I would really love some help with this.  happy to provide any information necessary.  please let me know what you need to know in order to guide me to the correct solution.
thanks!!

What server are you referring to? I don't think I'm going through a server.
He means the RDP server, that is running on the machine you are trying to access at 192.168.1.5
That is defined as a static address on the machine?
You did this presumably
Start Registry Editor.
Locate and then click the following registry subkey:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\TerminalServer\WinStations\RDP-Tcp\PortNumber
On the Edit menu, click Modify, and then click Decimal.
Type the new port number, and then click OK.
Quit Registry Editor.
Restart the computer
and have gone back to check it?
Are you running windows firewall on that machine?  If so maybe you have to set the firewall to allow the new port number before you connect to this computer by using the Remote Desktop connection.

    Hi,
The cause of unable to remote back to the server seems to be services hung, please try to reset session as the article below guides to see if it works:

  • Comcast Business Class Exchange

So, I set up my e-mail address through my Comcast Business Class account.  Besides my internet access, it gives me e-mail boxes on an Exchange server hosted by Comcast.  The problem is, they do not have a Blackberry Enterprise Server.  What would my soluton be to get my Blackberry synced?  Can I put BESX on a machine in my office and do it that way, or is BESX supposed to be in the same machine as Exchange?  Help!

Found a solution that works for me. Delete the problem account that's using AutoDiscover to sync with the exchange server. Before doing that, however, you will want to clear out the Inbox, Sent and even Trash folder for that account, as deleting it will remove the messages that currently reside in those folders. Just simply move them to another folder. You can move them back after re-creating the account.
The second step is to re-create the account. Do this as you would normally, and enter in your name, username and password. THE TRICK: Press and hold the Option key when you click Continue. After Mail connects to the server and verifies your account information, you will then have a pull down menu that will allow you to choose Exchange Server, IMAP and POP. Simply select POP or IMAP, then fill out the rest of the fields.
Viola! No more problematic Exchange Server syncing issues.

  • How to change Firewall remoted desktop port?

How to change Firewall remoted desktop port
I have changed the listening port in the registry.
I added a rule for incoming for RDT.
I can find the rules, and other items in the Firewall lists.
But I cannot find how to edit to change the port number.
Other threads indicate just added an open port not designating RDT as the program.
    Guidance please.

    >So, when inserting a new rule and choosing RDT from the program list automatically inserts the default port number?
My fault.  You should not select RDT from the program list, but instead
select the radio button for port, then click next, select TCP, and add in
the port number, then next and continue on with setting allow connection
and then when does this rule apply.

  • Remote Desktop Ports Not Working

Hello, I am trying to set up my new laptop with Remote Desktop. I have Norton 360 on it and a linksys EA6900 router.
And this is all on my home network.
My issue is that I cant seem to connect to the laptop to the port 3391 I opened up on it. I have two other PCs that are wired
at 3389 and 3390 and are totally fine.
I changed the RDP port number in regedit to 3391. Forwarded the port to the laptops reserved IP (1.23.25.250) and I even allowed
the port in the firewall for norton and in windows firewall for fun.
Even doing all that I still cannot connect even though I did the same for my two other PCs and theyre fine.
I can for some reason ping everything out of my laptop but not to it.
Whrn I use a port checker tool it does say 3391 is not open but 3389 and 3390 are which is weird to me.
Hope someone can help out, thank you.

    Hi cmcigas,
“I can for some reason ping everything out of my laptop but not to it”
To verify whether it is related to the firewall ,we can temporarily turn off the firewall to have a check .
Here is a link for reference of this issue

We may also need to run the built-in troubleshooter tool to have a diagnostic of the network .

" I even allowed the port in the firewall for norton and in windows firewall for fun."
How did you set the firewall ?

    Example:  69.159.24.1:32123
Eveything working fine if i use  the direct connection to the internet OR the standard RDP port  (3389) through the Lynksys.
When I try to go through the Linksys WRT300N v1.1 (latest firmware) client just times out.
    Any ideas ?

Try to forward any specific range of the ports ..... & also check that Remote desktop setting is enabled or not ....

  • Port Forwarding Comcast Modem/Router for enabling ...

The process of port forwarding seems long and complicated. Is the Freetalk Connect Me phone adapter, which is no longer offered by Skype, worth it? I'd like to begin using my Skype service and use Comcast only for internet. The modem/router I use now has two phone ports. Will default settings in Skype allow me to use this modem?

Skype's standard service doesn't natively support SIP, only through the use of the connect service which is pricier.  The failure was my experience,  it may not be the same for you, whatever software or hardware issues create the problem might be addressed in the newer releases.  I guess I will find out over time.  I'm still slowly trying to figure out if they are repairable and I've been partially successful.  One other similar device is the Soundwin SP110.  Someone posted what I think is the most reasonable price I have seen it for.(http://global.pchome.com.tw/english/?m=item&f=exhibit&IT_NO=DSAD04-A64453055).  It's getting better with firmware updates, but I personally don't own one.

  • Remote Access POrt Forwarding

    I
My ISP provided me a Public IP 64.89.5.xx. Thus I don't get a DHCP IP. I want to able to program my Airport Extreme in order to connect remotely to my Mac Mini.
How to I configure port forwarding?
    Thanks

Hello dgonzo45. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Overall port forwarding takes two basic steps: 1) Assign a static or dynamic reserved IP address to the host device on the LAN which you want to access from the Internet, and 2) Assign the port(s) to be forwarded, using the AirPort Utility, on the AirPort base station.
In this case, you want to assign your Mac Mini the static or dynamic reserved IP address. This address will still be a Private IP address as your AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBS) will be using the static Public IP address provided by your ISP.
To reserve an Private IP address for your Mac Mini:
AirPort Utility > Manual Setup > Internet > DHCP > DHCP Reservations
o Click on the Plus button to add a reservation.
    o Description: <enter a description here>
o Reserve address by: MAC Address, and then click Continue.
    o MAC Address: <enter your Mac Mini's AirPort ID>
o IPv4 Address: <enter the IP address that you want to reserve for the Mac Mini>
    o Click Done
    To configure Port Mappings:
AirPort Utility > Manual Setup > Internet > NAT > Configure Port Mappings...
o Click on the Plus button to configure the port maps.
    o Service: <either select a pre-defined service or ignore this setting>
    o Public TCP Port(s): <enter the Public TCP port(s) required>
    o Public UDP Port(s): <enter the Public UDP port(s) required>
o Private IP Address: <enter the DHCP reserved IP address you assigned the Mac Mini earlier>
    o Private TCP Port(s): <enter the Private TCP port(s) required>

  • Print Remotely using Port Forwarding

    Hello,
What I'm aiming to do is to be able to print lecture notes and assignments from University using my printer at home.
Currently I have 'Printer Sharing' turned on in System Preferences and have setup the appropriate permissions for myself. Also, in the Airport Extreme utility I have attempted to setup a port forward for that particular printer.
Can someone tell me whether in the 'Private IP Address' field on the Port Mapping Setup Assistant, do I put the IP of the Printer on the network? and setup a DHCP reservation for the printer to ensures it get's assigned the same IP address (based on MAC address)?
Also, when I have done this, how would i go about printing then? How would I find the printer at home to be able to print remotely from it when I'm at University?
    Thanks in advance.

in the 'Private IP Address' field on the Port Mapping Setup Assistant, do I put the IP of the Printer on the network
Think about it. That will direct any print jobs from the outside world directly to your printer, bypassing any concept of 'security' you might have. You've now just given every script kiddie and his dog the ability to print on your printer. I hope you have shares in the ink companies.
If you really, really want to do this, you need to forward the port to your server. Only there will the user credentials be validated. Even then, I wouldn't recommend doing this (the print jobs are not encrypted so you run the risk of someone else sniffing your account details, especially if you using wireless networks.. on a school campus?? :: shudder ::
Also, when I have done this, how would i go about printing then? How would I find the printer at home to be able to print remotely from it when I'm at University?
Go to System Preferences - > Print and Fax, and click the + button to add a new printer. Click the 'IP' option and enter the public IP address of your home network. If the port forwarding is setup correctly, this should then forward to your print server and you should be good to go.

  • Onkyo remote app2 port forwarding

    Hi guys
My 1st post, so here goes...
Im using an iPhone 5 with Onkyo Remote2 App to TRY to control Onkyo TX NR414 with wireless dongle.
It used to work but was never stable, but of late it seems to have just gave up. I've tried uninstalling the app, reseting the recievers wireless connection etc.... I've tried googling the problem and it seems I may have to open ports in the BT Home Hub to allow the app through. I recently changed my wireless channel on my Hub as I was having issues with my SkyHD On Demand (which is connected wirelessly, too) and my Ipad was having trouble staying connected too, but everything is working well now, except the App.
Its a real issue as I just upgraded to Spotify Premium and now i cant control music etc in Zone 2 (kitchen)..... BTW this problem has been going on from before I changed the wireless channel, so Im sure this is not the cause.
I had a look at the Port Forward options on my Hub but I havent a clue what to do, so any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

I've found the interface very hard to deal with, and there doesn't seem to be any support from either Verizon or Westell for any of
the "advanced" features in the 7500.  I've made port forwarding work though.
You aren't very specific about what services on your Lan you are trying to expose, but in no particular order here some thing that might help you out.
    - Make sure that your 7500 firewall is set no higher than medium otherwise port forwarding isn't going to do anything at all.
    - Turn on logging so the device tells you when it blocks something.
    - If you don't have a static WAN IP sign up for a dynamic dns service.
    - You probably want to have a static LAN IP assigned to the service on the LAN you are trying to access.
    - Make sure that the LAN service isn't running a software firewall that is blocking things.

  • Why can't I get X1? (Comcast business class Internet and residential cable)

They keep saying this can only be done with double play.  I'm being told I must degrade my Internet and spend less dollars with Comcast in order to get the new DVR service.  I just came over from Dish Network on cable and they have these X1 features as a standard. Right now I'm stuck with either dealing with data caps with lower grade Internet or having to switch back to Dish. Can anyone out there tell me if there's a path forward that exists?  I've hit a brick wall with X1.  Comcast needs to address customers like me, the ONLY option being offered results in less money for their bottom line.  This makes no sense to me...

For 3 weeks we have been having service issues with Comcast. We have had outage after outage of our phone, internet and cable. We have wasted countless hours on the phone with "customer service" trying to get our issues resoloved. Finally we were down to 1 issue.  Our DVR was not recording.
A tech was scheduled to come out on Monday.  He came, parked outside my house, then left.  Great.   Called again, got the run around, apology, etc.  Another tech was scheduled to come out today (7/29/2015).  He showed up!!!!!   He fiddled around with some wires outside, that didn't work.  But, the TV was still working.  He replaced the box inside the house.  And then we waited for the box to reset.  AND..............NOTHING.  NO TV AT ALL.  He tried again, twice.  Still nothing.
Then the tech says he thought the issue was with the line and he was "going to find his lineman, who was right around the corner".  2.5 hours later, now with no cable at all, instead of just no DVR, he still hadn't come back.
I called 1-800-XFINITY and spoke to "Jenny".  She tried to contact the tech with no luck, then she scheduled someone else to come back today to fix our issue.  SUPRISE.  Here it is 7:00 ESt and no one has shown up.  My husband has called and was told that a "ticket" was not put in to have a tech come back.  REALLY COMCAST?  This is unacceptable.  How can you think it is OK for an employee to leave a job unfinished and allow your customer to remain without services because of this?????
Apologies for the issue and the experience that you described above. I have asked that someone on our New Jersey team review your account and contact you directly so that we can get any outstanding issues resolved.

  • Rv320 - port forwarding from a specific WAN IP

Hi, i just received and configuring the rv320 router. I can successfully set the port forwarding from WAN to specific LAN IP address. I would like to know is it possible for this device to set the port forwarding from a specific WAN IP address? Thank you for the help.

I have the same problem, and have already tried creating a Access Rule without success. I need to forward Remote Desktop Port 3389 from a specific public IP address to a internal server. I do this with other lower-level Cisco Small Business routers all the time, but cannot get this to work with the RV320. Here's what I've tried:
    1) Create new Access Rule
    2) Create new Service called TS for TCP port 3389-3389
    3) Set new Access Rule to Allow
    4) Set Source Interface to Any (I've also tried WAN1, etc.)
    5) Set Source IP to the only single public IP that will be allowed
    6) Set Destination IP to the single internal IP address
    7) Set Scheduling to Always
When I use any standard RDP app from the outside, the router blocks 3389 access.
What am I missing? Can anyone help resolve this, or do I need to call in to Cisco Support?

I have an imac and a macbook air , both of them is installed mac osx Marveicks.
I download chroimium for mac Marveicks on both machines and install chrome remote desktop on both machines.
When I have openned the chrome remote desktop and it was been logged in gmail account,  after accept the authority , then I choosed  the option in chrome remote desktop --> my computer.
It needs to input pin (any 6 numbers) and input again , then ok.
After that the cloud needed  to confirm the pin!
And then I  used the macbook air and opened chrome remote desktop and choose the logged in gmail account computer and
    comfirmed the pin.
Amazing, something happened, I could use the macbook air to operate the imac.
For the above my experience of chrome remote desktop of chromium for mac osx Marveicksv use, I have an idea for remote access as follows :-

    Hi Shay,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Please check that required ports is opened for remote desktop (port 3389)?
Are you performing remote desktop with IP address or Hostname?
Did you find any specific error for your case?
Also there is required network connection available. If you can successfully connect with IP address then there might be issue with Hostname resolution for your server. From your description it also seems that there are some credential issue occurs for you.
Please try with domain\username and verify.
You can also try URI scheme for connecting, for more detail refer this article.

  • Common Issues - Connecting (Remote Desktop) to Virtual Machine

This posting contains a list of some of the common problems that have been seen in early usage of Windows Azure Virtual Machines. These topics can be used as a guide to resolve some of the most common problems that are likely to occur when first using Windows
    Azure Virtual Machines
Potential issues that may be seen:
1.) Remote Desktop endpoint is missing
Each virtual machine that is created should have a remote desktop endpoint for the VM at port 3389. If this endpoint is deleted then a new endpoint must be created. The public port can be any available port number. The private port (the port on the VM) must
    be 3389.
2.) RDP fails with error: "The specified user name does not exist. Verify the username and try logging in again. If the problem continues, contact your system administrator or technical support."
RDP connection may fail when there are cached credentials. Please see the following article to resolve this problem:
    http://www.c-sharpcorner.com/uploadfile/ae35ca/windows-azure-fixing-reconnect-remote-desktop-error-the-specified-user-name-does-not-exist-verif/
3.) Failure to connect to uploaded VHD
When a VHD is uploaded to Windows Azure you must make sure that Remote Desktop is enabled on the VHD and an apporopriate firewall rule is enabled on the VM to open port 3389 (Remote Desktop port)

  • Remote desktop fails, can still connect to event log and services.

I am unable for some reason to remote into a machine that I've been able to before.  This occurred after it installed automatic updates.  At the moment I can connect to
