Remote IPC
Hi there,
I have two things to clarify and need your help in this regard.
1. I was trying to connect to the IPC Server remotely. I need some assitance regarding this. Please share your knowledge how to connect remotely.
2. When I tried to download the IPC from Service Marketplace with certified consultant access id, it is not showing the concerned link.
I would appreciate your suggestions in this regard.
Thanks,

SoftPhone over VPN audio issue
Having a "one-way" audio issue when IPC connects over VPN to any Main Office IP Phones (7960). Remote IPC (softphone) shows "0 Received" Packets, but the IP Phone shows them as being sent.
This does NOT happen if IPC contacts another IPC on a PC at Main Site, or any kind of phone at the other branch offices.
Have looked at all of the audio settings on the VPN IPC unit, they are correct.
Any ideas?Try to sniff the Ethernet traffic during call setup at the CallManager. When Callmanager sends Call Control messages to remote party, it could send wrong IP address or UDP port as an RTP parameters.
Another components could block the traffic are firewalls. How do you have your VPN tunnel built? Do you use Cisco VPN Client? What terminates your VPN traffic at the central location? PIX, VPN3000 or Router? Traffic may go one way without a change, and some protocol FixUp may be triggered for this traffic on the way back. If you have access to firewall logs, check if you have any traffic dropped.
Good luck,
Mike

New iMac can't see Laserwriter Select connected to a PC on same LAN-- why?
I've just returned to the Mac universe after a five year hiatus. When I discovered how well Macs play with PCs and Unix these days, I decided to come back.
There's just one issue: I can't print to my Laserwriter Select 360, connected by parallel port to a Windows XP Pro PC on my LAN. My new iMac doesn't see the printer at all. The imac does see the PC's workgroup in the Network Neighborhood, and I can mount the shared volumes of that PC on the mac with no problem, so the Mac can talk to the PC for filesharing, anyway. (smb:// address used)
Applecare has no clue why I can't see the printer. They told me to turn on Windows Sharing and Print Sharing, but that had no effect. The Windows machines on my LAN can all see and print to the shared Laserwriter Select 360, no problem. They're all running Windows XP pro, latest patches.
The iMac of course has the latest Tiger. All machines are on my internal subnet 192.168.0.*.
I just got a new cartridge for the Laserwriter, and there's no reason to retire it-- that printer works great. I just can't believe/accept that the iMac can't be made to print to an Apple printer! (Also, I've heard that appletalk->ethernet bridge solutions are flaky so that's not an ideal route).
Any/all ideas welcome.
imac g5 Mac OS X (10.4.3)Here's the result. The PC is on 192.168.0.2, and the iMac was assigned .18 by DHCP.
I just tried adding a lexmark printer to the PC (over USB) to see if there might be some difference. The other windows box on the lan sees the LexMark same as it sees the Laserwriter (and both show up in the output of smbclient below). Needless to say, the iMac doesn't see the LexMark either.
Thanks for your help with this one...

I have had this problem for a while now and I have finally decided to fix it once and for all.
I am unable to connect to the shared folders of other computers on the local network. Running smbclient with results in NT_STATUS_UNSUCCESSFUL but if I connect via the IP it succeeds (well almost).

Need help setting up an IP phone with the Westell 9100EM router
I have an IP phone that I use for work - it's an old fashioned Axxess phone by InterTel but it works. I've had both DSL and cable service before, using a Netgear wireless router with the phone and never had an issue with the phone connecting to our office phone system. I just recently moved and have FIOS and chose not to hook up the Netgear, since the Westell does DHCP just fine.
When I connect the phone, the phone is receiving an IP address from the router and I can see it's connected when I'm logged onto the router but it will not connect with our system. The phone runs through UDP port 5567 but connects usually with TCP port 5566. I can ping 5566 and get a reply. I can telnet our Remote IPC IP using 5566 and get a response but the phone times out after 60 seconds of not being able to connect.
I have checked out this website and am guessing it has something to do with port forwarding. I tried to make some changes but I'm not sure I understand enough about how it's supposed to work to feel confident that I put the right information in the right places!
I could really use a nudge in the right direction. The phone worked a few days ago on a DSL connection so I know the phone is working. Other users who work from home are not having issues with their IP phones so I've narrowed it down to the router. Both my computers are working on the system too.
Thanks!

At that screen in your router, change the Starting IP so that it is
192.168.1.100
#2 On the Axxess phone by InterTel, setup a static IP outside of that range.
You can set any number that you want to BUT NOT: 0, 1, 100 to 255.
#3 Here is/are guide(s) for that router (This is based upon the screen images seen so far)

Still only grants me "Guest" privileges!?
OK the problem I have was briefly touched upon in another thread, but that seems to be dead at this stage.
I am trying to connect (over a wireless router connection) the shared documents folder of a PC running XP Home, with my Macbook running the latest update of leopard 10.5.3.
Once networking is configured in XP, the computer running Windows XP will come up automatically in Finder. You can click on the Shared computer and it will connect as "Guest". When you hit "Connect As," it gives you the option to connect as the registered user (the XP username and password on the other computer). When I do that, it STILL only grants me guest privileges, NOT Registered User privileges (can't delete, move files, etc).
Please can anyone help? Here are my results - found the server and 2 printers but not the other PCs on the network:

Windows server 2012 R2 replication
Hi all,
I have windows server 2012 standard edition and Recently I rented a new dedicated server from the data center. My new dedicated server has Windows server 2012 R2 standard edition. The problem is when I am doing a replication from windows server 2012 standard
to windows server 2012 r2 standard I do not see SYSVOL share in my windows server 2012 R2 standard. I see all the active directory users have been replicated but not the share.
How can I solve this issue? Anyone can help me with this?

ThanksHello,
seems for me that the Promotion from the new DC didn't went well. In your case remove the new machine from the domain, disconnect and use dcpromo /forceremoval and run metadata cleanup on the Windows server 2012 DC.
http://msmvps.com/blogs/mweber/archive/2010/05/16/active-directory-metadata-cleanup.aspx
Tthen assure that you use ONLY the existing DC/DNS server on the NIC from the new machine, NONE else, even not if this machine should become DNS server role, and run dcpromo again to join it to the exiting domain.
So the schema was upgraded to version 69 as Windows server 2012R2 requires this?

Printing to Shared Windows XP Printer
Windows XP, SP2, latest patches with a USB conected HP 2550L printer, shared PostScript Driver. Unix printing extensions added, TCP/IP service Automatic and Started
I first selected the printer via Windows Printing, selected workgroup, the PC and the printer, set the type of printer, etc. set the username/password of the admin account on the PC, saved in Keychain. All print jobs ended in SAMBA errors.
I thought maybe I had fat fingered the password, checked the keychain pw anbd it was correct. Still no printing - same SAMBA error. I erased the password from keychain., deleted the printer and tried to re-install. Now the printer no longer shows up after the PC NB name is chosen.
I tried the lpr://PCIP_address/printer_sharename, the printer always says "Stopped", I Start it and the bar "flashes" for a few seconds and the printer goes back to Stopped.
I haved also restarted the TCP/IP spooler, same result - no visible printer, no IP printing.
And finally, I can ping the PC from terminal.
Geez, I thought Macs were almost automatic!
Anyone have a clue as to what to do next? Logs to look at? Anything?Using -NL means no login - even though it tells me there is an authentication error, all available shares show up. Here's what mine looks like -

The columns probably don't show up correctly, but you get the idea.
So, I think the issue is your Windows setup. Do you have one or more firewalls running without setting them up for sharing? Do you have an account on Windows that uses the exact same username and password as you use on the Mac (this is conceptually that way Samba is supposed to work - single login used for all resources)? Are all computers in the same workgroup? Set this on OS X in The Directory Access utility.
Hope this helps. -

[Solved] Trouble Viewing Samba Shares
I'm using KDE 4.6 on a x64 Arch system with all of the latest updates. I am trying to access Windows 7 shared media. If I navigate to the address in dolphin the shares are there and accessible. I'm using smb4k in an effort to mount the shares transparently for use with Banshee and other non KIO apps. The odd thing is is that smb4k sees the machine, but cannot list the shares. I'm using a default Samba config file and setup smbnetfs via instructions in the wiki. Fuse is listed in the modules array of rc.conf and smbnetfs is listed in DAEMONS. Output of smbtree:

This configuration works fine in gnome, so I don't think there is a problem with the Windows 7 machine, but something incorrectly configured within KDE. NetBios is enabled despite what it says there. I'm sure I've left something out, please feel free to let me know. Any ideas here would be appreciated. Thanks
Last edited by dryce (2011-03-29 20:19:21)After fighting with this for awhile, I finally got it working. The smbtree error was apparently being caused by OpenDNS and their typo correction section. I disabled this entirely. The error message went away and printed network shares normally. The second error:
session request to 192.168.xxx failed (Called name not present)
session request to 192 failed (Called name not present)
session request to *SMBSERVER failed (Called name not present)
NetBIOS over TCP disabled -- no workgroup available
still happens and I have no idea why. I was able to get the shares to appear and become accessible in smb4k by enabling kdewallet first. Then going into configure smb4k and selecting "Master Browser requires authentication to return the browse list" in Network and in Super User selecting "Use super user privileges to mount and unmount shares". The shares don't appear under samba shares in KDE's Network location so maybe that's where the above error comes in. -
Pls help: SYSVOL and NetLOGON share not ready after creating first Windows 2012 DC
Hi all,
I'm setting up the first DC on Windows server 2012 following steps here (social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/12370.step-by-step-guide-for-setting-up-a-windows-server-2012-domain-controller.aspx).

Besides, DFSR instead of FRS is used.
Sorry that I'm newbie to Windows and afraid if I've anything missed. Would anyone please help?
Thanks a lot.
/ST WongHi all,
Thanks for your advice. I updated following settings and restart the server:
- IPv6: set both address/DNS to dynamic
- IPv4: Add 127.0.0.1 as alternate DNS server
Same error reported in dcdiag. Besides, the server name used by nslookup is Unknown.
I'm afraid if I've something missed :(
Sorry for the trouble caused. Thanks a lot.
Regards,
/ST Wong

Waits occur in CGS wait for IPC msg and ksxr poll remote instance
Hi,
i have faced thousands of wait events occur in "ksxr poll remote instance" and "CGS wait for IPC msg" and same number of waitevent timedout also.
Anybody help me to understand what this wait event says and any relations between this two wait event.
If this could cause any problem for my database.

CAD Remote Access/IPC connect messaging
Within the CAD documentation, there is reference to being able to enable CAD to receive IPC Events over UDP (ref: "Remote Access" within CAD user guide.
Two of the actions that can be sent to CAD via XML are the "Make Call" action and the "Set Variable" action.
We would like to confirm if it's possible to either bundle multiple actions together under a single "IPCActions" command or to send multiple "IPCActions" commands in the context of a single call (eg; send a MakeCall, then send multiple SetVariable commands). You would need to do the latter. I'm not sure on the timing of this - I don't know if the CTI server will accept the set variable commands prior to establising the connnection. (Since this is UDP, the CAD servers are just passing this data along to CTI - there is not confirmation.) This is something you'd need to play around with.
regards,
Tom
