Remote Lookout Citadel connections with Labview 8.6
What is the cleanest method to import remote computer citadel data and/or live Lookout process data members into Labview 8.6. Data Socket or Shared Variables or ... ?
Thanks,
Ed
If you use shared variable or datasocket, it doesn't read data from the citadel database, but all are live data directly from the remote tag. Shared variable is better.
If you want to read data from the citadel database, read trace.vi can help you. Or use hypertrend to view the historical or live data trend.

Connect RS232 with labview to read current and voltage values.
Hi, I am trying to connect my microcontroller kit which will measure the current and voltage. I was provided with rs232 port to connect with labview to read the voltage and current data that is measured by my controller. How to make it display both current and voltage value by acquirng the data from rs232. I tried some programming but it doesn't work or it was wrong. How to make it work ?

pro.vi 13 KBAs we said in the other thread, you need to talk to whoever is designing the microcontroller and decide on a specific format for it send you the data. Once we have that, then we can start talking about how to program this up.

How can i access remote front panel in RT with LabVIEW run time engine in client PC
Hi to all,
I have developed the RT application with cRIO 9075 integrated chassis. And i have access its remote front panel in client PC. Now i want to access the remote panel in the client PC without having LabVIEW runtime engine. If i connect the remote panel with that client, it shows only the vi border. i doesn't downloads the front panel.
How Can i access its remote front panel without LabVIEW runtime engine in the client PC?You cannot view a remote front panel without the LabVIEW runtime - the LabVIEW runtime is what makes the remote front panel possible. What you will want to do instead is likely create a Web Service that you can access from a remote PC without requiring the LabVIEW runtime. However, this will require you to develop a web-based HTML or similar UI to interact with the VIs running on your system - NI hasn't yet created a way to export a LabVIEW front panel as an HTML'ish page.

K8047 Velleman connecting with labVIEW trouble
Hi
I have a K8047 Velleman datalogger and we want to connect this with Labview.
This is the labVIEW program we used to read the data. (Found on this forum).
I can find the K8047 in the 'Meassurement and Automation Explorer' by using the NI-VISA driver.
After running this block program in labview, Here is no error code shown. But there is no data output on the screen too.
What can be the problem?
Thank youOk thank you. We deleted the VISA Wizard. What do we need to do with the dll?
There are two dll files...
K8047D.dll
FASTTIME32.dll
We read on the forum that these two files as well as
K8047e.exe needs to be in the same folder as the VI.
If we do so, we still get no data? -
hai every one ...i have a doubt how to interface N5181A MXG signal Generator with Labview by using LAN Interface???? and
how to find IP Address of N5181A MXG signal Generator????????
when i connect instrument with labview it shows that no instrument connected and what are the requirements for LAN interfacing with that instruments in labview and please help me??????You can set the IP Address on the instrument. You may need to be in the same subnet of your controlling computer, so you may need to set your computer's IP Address to something static.
Use VISA. It makes life easier if you decide to use another bus (like GPIB, USB, serial, etc). In MAX, create a network session with the static IP address you set the instrument to and use that as the VISA Resource.

OPC Server Connection not possible (with LabView 7.0 it is working)
We have used LabView 7.0 to view OPC items on a remote server (Windows CE).
On WindowsCE it's not possible to browse the remote registry, therefore we
make the registry settings on the client Computer and are setting the
"RemoteServerName". For LabView 7.0 it was working.
With LabView 7.1 when we try the same with the sample "Browse to OPC Item.vi"
we get the Message Box "NI Network Browser Error!" "This OPC Server does not support
the interface: IOPCBrowseServerAddressSpace error code - 0x80070005 Access denied!"
Has any one an idea what has changed since LabView 7.0.
The OPC Server has also an OPCEnum running. Is there any way to read this information?
Here are the whole registry setting for the local machine to connet to remot OPC-Server:

Regards, RobertHi Robert
LabVIEW 7.1 implements some new security features dealing with DCOM that were not in 7.0. Windows is moving in this direction, and National Instruments decided to follow suit. 7.1 requires a certain level of authentication from the server. If this is the issue in your case, it can be resolved with the following steps (this is for Windows XP; CE will probably be different):
1. On the computer hosting your OPC server select "Start >> Settings >> Control Panel >> Administrative Tools >> Component Services.
2. On the tree on the left, expand "Component Services >> Computers >> My Computer >> DCOM Config.
3. Your OPC server should be registered as one of these items. Right-click on your server and select "Properties."
4. On the "General" tab, change the "Authentication Level" to "Connect."
If this property is already set to Connect or Default (and the default setting is Connect) then this will have no effect.
You can also try checking some of the other settings:
1. On the computer hosting your OPC server select "Start >> Settings >> Control Panel >> Administrative Tools >> Component Services.
2. On the tree on the left, expand "Component Services >> Computers >> My Computer
3. Right-click on My Computer and select "Properties."
4. On the "Default Properties" tab, make sure "Default Impersonation Level" is set to "Identify."
You may also want to look at the "COM Security" tab to make sure your computer has the right permissions.
If all else fails, you can try adding the line "ole.AuthnLevel = 1" to the LabVIEW.ini file. This should reverse some of the changes to 7.1.

Lost ActiveX connection with LabVIEW server
I have called LabVIEW in TestStand and tried to execute the test cases .
While executing I got the following error: ( Lost ActiveX connection with LabVIEW server.
The LabVIEW adapter will try to reconnect on the next execution attempt.-18001; An error occurred accessing the LabVIEW ActiveX automation server.).Same error. Is anyone from NI going to bother commenting on this? It's been >8 months...

Is it possible to view VIs remotely on windows 7 if VI was built with LabView 8.2?
So I know i'm probably dealing with software compatibility issues here, BUT, I wanted to make sure every option was exhausted before considering the idea of upgrades.
Im using LabView full development system 8.2 on windows XP 32bit os. Currently, I run into no issues when controling or building VIs on my computer. Problems do occur when trying to control VIs on a remote computer with windows 7. That computer has run-time 8.2.1 installed on it. For the most part it works best to just view the VIs, and not interact or control too much. More specifically, the VI will freeze once interacting with a control that is intended to pop up a two button dialogue box. I'm sure there are a lot more issues with using run-time 8.2.1 on a windows 7 computer; that one in particular is just the only one i've experienced.
In all efforts to avoid what could eventually be an unavoidable situation where an upgrade is necessary, is there a way to remotely control (on windows 7) a VI front panel that was built with labview 8.2?Thank you for the response. Just to preface, I am fairly new to LabView so pardon my potentially "stupid" questions. Here's my process in a nut shell: VI programs are created on our server computer and then published for web with the "web publishing tool...". The html page created is then put on a main page with all other created VIs and are then viewed on other computers that are part of the network via ip address.
I was under the impression the LabView run-time engine enabled remote computers to view and control these VIs. Could be wrong? After downloading and installing run-time 8.2.1 (since vi's were created with labview 8.2), those computers are able to enter the ip address and navigate to the main page to control the web published vi's. The issue is with the computer that has windows 7. I know run-time 8.2.1 isn't necessarily compatible with windows 7, but it does seem to run the vi on a pretty minimal level. I run into problems on that computer when hitting particular controls that are wired to be more complex than just a simple boolean.
Just to provide a visual, I attached an image of one of the scenarios where it will freeze up on the windows 7 computer. This is how the VI should normally function; however, before the dialogue box even pops up after clicking a valve control, it freezes.
I didn't even consider VNC or Remote Desktop up to this point. Thank you for that idea. I'll definitely look into that as an alternative. -

Dear,
I'm looking inf. how to connect Agilent Infiniium 54831B scope with LabView 6.0 by LAN (TCP/IP).
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Z.Mrowka
mailto:[email protected]Hello,
If the instrument is capable of being controlled from its TCP/IP port, it will be possible to communicate with the instrument from LabVIEW using VISA.
The VISA resource name input will need to be entered manually and is a little different from the normal Serial or GPIB format. The format is as follows:
For SOCKET connections, this is just like the traditional TCP functionality in LabVIEW. An example string that connects with the NI FTP site is:
"TCPIP::ftp.ni.com::21:OCKET"
For INSTR connection, this requires a device that supports the T&M standard LAN instrument protocol. An example of this (that we have tested with) is the Tektronix 3054 Scope. A string that connects with this scope is: "TCPIP::HostnameOrIP::gpib0,1::INSTR"
I hope this
helps,

I have Lookout 6.5 running with Windows 7, the process has been running for about 2 months with no problems, but today the Citadel stopped working!
How could this have happened and what can I do to get it running again?Didnt realize there was a response, late getting back to you.
Save your process files outside of the NI progam directory (you should have external backups already right ). THey should not be deleted.
Any customizations to the lookout.ini and lookout.sec file may be lost.

With Multi-Factor Authentication ENABLED how can office 365 admin connect remotely to manage Office 365 with Power-Shell ?
When I key-in my credentials, auth fails with invalid username and password ?
Does any know the procedure ?This question was closed over a year ago. You will need to start a new question. You can post a link back here if you think it helps.
I also recommend asking in the O365 developers forum for how to do bulk license upgrades. You can use the answer here and just remove and then add the new license.
