Remote profiling - websphere

i realize this isn't a pure java topic, but i'm running short on options
I'm trying to remote profile a websphere application server instance from my local websphere studio application developer IDE. I'm trying to find some docs on remote profiling, specifically setup/config instructions. i've gone to the admin console on the remote server and added "-XrunpiAgent" to the list of args, but on the client side, it is asking for the "Agent Controller Port" (i.e. which port to connect to remote VM) and i don't see how to set it. Thus i'm using the default port of 10002, but to no avail, it won't connect. Any ideas?

okay, i got the profiler to run locally with the test server environment
but i'm still not getting the data i need
i can get class & package statistics, but not much more than that
i need to see the hierarchy showing which objects instantiated which objects
OptimizeIt has this feature, but we don't have that at our disposal
so, i can see the number of instances of each class, but not WHO created them
looking at the docs the 'agent controller' comes up a lot, perhaps i need the agent controller no matter what?
as always, any help is greatly appreciated

  • Netbeans Remote Profiling problems

    Hi,
I am trying to do remote profiling from windows with Netbeans. Application is running in linux machine. I generated the remote pack for linux 32 bit and copied in /product/integration/profiling as mentioned in http://netbeans.org/kb/docs/java/profiler-intro.html.
I started the application with the following command in target linux machine -
    java -jar agentpath:/product/integration/profiling/lib/deployed/jdk15/linux/libprofilerinterface.so=/product/integration/profiling/lib,5140 <application name>
But Netbeans is not able to connect to the application. In the target machine, i typed "netstat -anp" and found 5140 is not listed.
    Any idea, what's the wrong..

    Hi Subrata,
Your question is about Netbeans functionality on Windows,
and it is very unlikely we can answer it, because we usually
don't use Windows for development. We use Solaris and Linux.
Could you please post your question on Netbeans forum?

Remote Profiling support in Azure App ServiceAzure Web Apps as well as API Apps and WebJobs can now be remotely profiled. If your process is running slower than expected, or the latency of HTTP requests are higher than normal and the CPU usage of the process is also pretty high, you can remotely profile your process and get the CPU sampling call stacks to analyze the process activity and code hot paths. There arethree ways to profile a process in Azure App Service and get the CPU usage report:Using Visual Studio 2015Browsing the Azure App Service’s Site Control Management dashboard (aka kudu)Using REST APIsProfiling is not supportedon free or shared sites. • Property Mapping in remote Profile source vs. User Porfile Mgr

I am confused about Property to user info mapping. I have mapped the user properties that I need to the user info attricutes in the user profile manager. However, if I go to setup the profile source, I am prompted to setup the mapping again. It does not recoganize the mapping already done though the user profile manager. What am I missing or not doing correctly? Do I only need to setup the Profile source no the user profile manager? I'd appreciate any insight into the differences between the two.
    Thanks.
    Vanita

On the Profile source, the property map you define here maps Plumtree properties to the attribute names on the remote system you are synching with. An example from the LDAP PWS: on the portal their is a property called "Email Address". LDAP does not have an attribute with the exact name "Email Address", instead this information is stored in an attribute called "mail". So on the Profile Source, you have to map "Email Address" to "mail".
The map on the User Profile Manager allows you to map Plumtree properties to the name of the user info header you want sent to portlets. For most cases this is the same as the property name.

  • Corrupted remote profiles

Every now and then some of our users cannot log into their profiles.
These profiles are located on the server (OSX 10.8.5, server 2.2.2) and Users use OSX 10.8.5 clients as well.
They can log in, but when starting apps like mail, safari, iCal the mac slowly but surely hangs. The problem seems to be cause by bad permissions on the profiles. But I could be wrong. Currently I fix it by simply renaming the old profile and putting the latest Time-capsule backup back in place.
The problems always start after logging in, never during use of the system.
I have no idea where to look for a cause. Can anyone give me any directions to find the root cause of this problem?
    With kind regards,
    William

  • Remote Memory Profile

    Hi
I would like to use JDeveloper (running on Windows) to remote memory profile an application running on an OC4J application server (running on Linux).
In JDeveloper, I have specified a Run instance that uses the ojvm VM and has the Remote Debugging and Profiling option checked. When I run the Memory Profile, I am prompted for the server's name and port which I specify as 4000 --> is this correct? How do you know which port to specify?
The OC4J runs as a cluster with a group consisting of two OC4J instances. On the group level, I specify the Start-parameters: OC4J Options as -ojvm -XXtimeport4000. The group seems to run ok with these settings, but whenever I actually try and connect from JDeveloper, I get the following output:
Profiler attempting to connect to remote process at <my server's name> port 4000.......
Profiler unable to connect to remote process.
Can anyone point out to me what I am doing wrong or have not done?
    Thanks very much
    Aisling

    hi Aisling
I have been able to do remote profiling using the documentation you also referred to:
    - "Starting a Java Process for Remote Profiling"
    - "Connecting the Profiler Remotely to a Java Program"
The environment I used for this is MS Windows XP, JDeveloper 10.1.3.3.0 and a standalone OC4J 10.1.3.1.0.
I noticed you mention "... an OC4J application server (running on Linux) ..." in your initial post.
On of the steps for remote profiling is "Ensure that the version of Java you are using has the OJVM installed." and although the page "About Remote Debugging" is not explicitly about remote profiling, it says "OJVM is available on Windows platforms only.".

  • Remote Memory Profiling

Can anyone tell me how to set up remote memory profiling in TP4? The existing instructions for 10g do not address remote profiling. At one point I somehow found documentation on a profiling agent that is started from the command line but I cannot find that again. Anyway, I really need to profile a Tomcat application server, and it would be nice if TP4 could do the job. Maybe this type of thing would even convince my colleagues that JDeveloper is better than Eclipse or IDEA.
    Thanks In Advance, Keith

'Cmon Team JDeveloper - in a matter of a few hours, I was able to download and setup NetBeans and start remote profiling my JDeveloper-developed web app on Tomcat. Surely somebody knows how to do this with JDeveloper!?
I'm a long-time JDeveloper user and a very vocal proponent of the tool - I pains me to have to use another tool to do what JDeveloper should clearly be able to do. Heck, I'm willing to help document the process if someone can just help get me going on this.

  • I need more than the maximum allowed 30 profiles - how do I change this?

I need more than the maximum allowed 30 profiles - how do I change this? Once I reach 30 profiles and I try to add one - it just deletes one automatically thus only allowing a maximum of 30. Please help.

You are talking about 30 Firefox Profiles on the same Windows Logon User Account?
I never saw that as a limit myself. I had 53 Profiles at one time, although I haven't done that since Firefox 3.0. It was causing an extended launch time and I started using "remote" Profiles that weren't controlled by the Profile Manager and weren't in the '''profiles.ini''' file; launched by command line. Like this in the Target line for the desktop shortcut: <br />
    ''' "C:\Program Files\Firefox_4.0_zip\firefox.exe" -Profile D:\Mozilla\Active-Profiles\4.0_10-15-10-N '''

  • After moving shared profiles to Windows 7/32 Pro PC, I can't access them from XP box mapped to the profile share (P:\Profiles...) after editing profiles.ini to point to the network share. I can edit files in the profile directory from XP.

Previous configuration: Shared profiles located at D:\profiles\ on PC1 (XP Pro SP3). 2nd PC (PC2 also XP Pro SP3) mapped to \\PC1\Profiles via mapped drive P: and using absolute reference in profiles.ini on PC2. Remote profiles work OK on PC2.
New PC added (PC7) to eventually replace PC1 (Windows 7/32 Pro). Profiles moved to D:\Profiles on that box. Firefox and Thunderbird work fine on PC7 with the local profiles. Profiles.ini edited on PC1 to point to the network share and will not access the remote profiles. Access permissions are set to full for everyone. I can write and edit to files in the profile directories from PC1.
I tried adding a profile with the profile manager and tried to force it to use the network share, but it still located the new profile down in the default directory ...\application data\Mozilla\Firefox\

Well, try this (I was able to fix my with these steps):
    Go Utilities > Disk Utility
Select your Startup Disk, e.g. Macintosh HD
Then, under the First Aid Tab, click Verify Disk Permissions.
If there are errors, then click repair Disk Permissions.
After it is done, restart the computer and see if your problem is resolved.
    I hope this help.

  • Need help with roaming user profiles, home folder on server - symptoms after Windows reinstall on workstation

Hello. I have deployed roaming user profiles in our home office. We are using Windows Server 2012 on our datacenter computer, which has a partition with all our home directories. All was working beautifully for quite some time.
I re-installed Windows 8.1 Pro on my laptop. I am able to log in to my profile from the new installation.
The problem that has started happening seems to be some sort of permission problem with my home directory, but I am not sure how to go about diagnosing it. I haven't changed anything in the policies or remote profiles.
    The symptoms:
When I try to run an installation program from my documents/downloads/desktop (remote) folders, UAC asks for the administrative credentials as expected, and then I am asked to enter my user credentials. If I do so, I sometimes get a message about duplicate
connections to a share, and the installation program does not execute. "Multiple connections to a server or shared resource by the same user, using more than one user name, are not allowed. Disconnect all previous connections to the server or
shared resource and try again." I am confused, because I am entering credentials for the same user name as the one I am logged in with.
To work around, I have to copy the executable to a folder on my workstation hard drive and run it from there.
Another symptom is when I download anything from the internet, chrome will reflect a "Failed - Download error" message with the download. If I re-attempt the same download several times, eventually it will succeed. This appears to be due to my
downloads folder being on the remote computer.
I am looking for any guidance on how to remedy these symptoms. I suspect there must be a setting I have forgotten to change in the local computer, because nothing has changed on the server since it was operating properly.
    Thank you for your time.

  • How do I view bookmarks from a saved profile from 7 months ago

I am missing some bookmarks. I must have accidentally deleted them some time ago. I have an old profile saved from 6-7 months ago that would have the missing bookmarks. How can I open one of the backup bookmarks files from the old profile or convert it to html?
I know how to export to html but that appears to not give me the option of selecting a specific file to convert. Conversion only converts existing bookmarks to html which will not help me, if I understand correctly what I have read. I know how to restore the bookmarks but my understanding is that they are then added to existing bookmarks. I don't want to do that because probably 95% of my current bookmarks are in the older much larger version I have saved in the old profile plus much more that I wanted to get rid of.
I was thinking of exporting to internet explorer, since I never use it and it has no bookmarks. I don't know how to select a specific bookmark file for export or if it is even possible to do that. If I can do that, however, I can search the bookmarks there for what I need and then add them back to FF.
Can you help we with this. Thank you for your assistance.

Do you have an HTML backup of the bookmarks?
If you only have a backup of the entire profile folder then probably only the places.sqlite file in that backup has all bookmarks.
You can open a second Firefox instance with that saved profile folder at the same time and copy the wanted bookmarks to the <u>clipboard</u> in the Library in one instance and paste them in the Library in the other instance.<br />
You can select more than one item via the normal way (Shift click for a range or Ctrl click for individual items).
Create a shortcut with this command line to start a second Firefox instance with a path to a specific profile folder (in this case the backup).
    * "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -no-remote -profile "<profile_path>"
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Opening_a_new_instance_of_Firefox_with_another_profile
You can use the Profile Manager to create a new profile and copy the places.sqlite file to that profile folder or import a JSON backup.

  • Is there any limit on number of firefox profiles that can be created?

Is there any limit in the number of firefox profiles that can be created?
    My issue is
I am currently doing selenium webdriver automation in linux for a device. There are 50 devices of same kind and framework will pickup a device depending on availability. I need to by pass unsigned ssl pages. I am using firefox 14.
I have implemented following but it is not consistent.
    everytime a device is chosen
adds cer of device to the cert file in firefox profile
but I am getting sec_error_bad_signature very frequently.
So I started recreating cert [delete and create if by opening firefox] file for every run.
Now this is posing a problem if multiple devices are run at the same time. Hence I want to create separate firefox profile

Not that I have ever found. And at one time I had over 60 Profiles, but after I hit 20 Profiles listed in the profiles.ini file the launch time for Firefox became noticeably longer on WinXP. With remote Profiles, not listed in the profiles.ini file and launched strictly from command line there was no impact on launch time.
How or if that relates to Mac OSX is beyond my knowledge, never owned used a Mac.
