Remote Standalone Log Viewer

Hi!
My question is about log viewing.
There is a log viewer to view logs on XI system :
<path of J2EE installation>/<SysID>/JC<nr>/j2ee/admin/logviewer-standalone/logviewer.bat
It works fine.
My problem is that I want to view the logs on a remote machine.
How can I do that ? Has anyone a step - by - step solution?
I have already downloaded the standalone_logviewer.zp file at the SAP Service Marketplace, but I don't know how it works.  Do I have to execute the batch file logviewer.bat or the remoteserver.bat ? Which configuration do I have to do?
Thanks in advance,
Laurence

Hi,
I had already read the pdf.
Now it's all right, without executing remoteserver.bat.
I have executed the logviewer.bat on my desktop and in File -> Configuration I added a J2EE connection to my XI server with port <P4> (50000 + SystemNr. * 100 +4), and it works.
Thanks everybody for the responses,
Laurence

    Hello Ivan,
Make sure that you are using a supported JDK version as per note below:
    723909 Java VM settings for J2EE 6.40/7.0
And also, make sure that the necessary environment variables are pointing to the correct JDK version.

  • Log View Link Disappeared

    Hi All,
I used to be able to access the Log Viewer via
Systems Administration >> Support >> Portal Runtime >> Log Viewer (EP 6.4 SP12)
    However I can't find it on SP15.  I have super_admin access.
I have a work around by creating an URL iView.  with the URL >>/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.portal.runtime.admin.logviewer.default
    or entering
    http://myserver.com:51000/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.portal.runtime.admin.logviewer.default
    Thanks
    Brian

    Hi Brian,
the Log viewer you are searching for is gone because of too many apps providing the same functionality (visual admin, NWA, standalone log viewer etc.)

    Mark,
I would be interested in knowing how you can decouple the obpmlogviewer.exe app from the OBPM Enterprise installation.
How can I send a simple .zip file to others and tell them: "hey, unzip (or install) this only and you will be able to read OBPM engine logs files on your local machine" ?
The logViewer executable can't be run without an enterprise install (at least not easily decoupled), however, an alternative, would be to pass someone the .jnlp and some log files.... To do this, open up the process admin, and in the top right, is a link for 'Launch Log Viewer'. Open that, and then go to 'File - Save As', and this will save a java executable to your computer.
I'm pretty sure you can pass that, and either an admin user and password to view 'live' logs, or just have them cancel the remote log, and open a local file....
    Adam,
PS: I don't see any opbmlogreader.exe or .sh or .bet in the OBPM_HOME\bin directory. I am looking at OBPM standalone, and the only relevant files I can see are obpmlogviewer.exe , obpmlogviewer.lax , lax.jar. Am I missing something?
MaxI too don't have the log reader, however I do remember it... I'm thinking the .sh might only be included in the linux distribution of enterprise, so I'm downloading that now to verify... I will let you know what I find...

  • Using the Log Viewer for two systems on same host

We have two Portal systems installed on the same host server.  The log viewer only identifies and displays the log files from one of the systems (A).  This is the case even though I started the log viewer while logged on as the <sid>adm for system (B).
In the configuration of the Log Viewer, I do not see an option to have it add another "system" to the local host.
How can I configure the log viewer to display logs from both systems installed on the same host?
    Thanks,
    Bob

    Bob,
with the port you can distinguis between the servers. both portals should have unique ports on the same server.
for you relevant is the P4-port.
these settings work for remote servers:
    Name: <SID>
    Host name: <hostname of server>
Port: <P4 Port, normally 5<SysNr>04>, you can check this at: http://<host>:<port>/sap/monitoring/SystemInfo under the Dispatcher infos
    Connection: J2EE
    User: <admin user>
    Password: <admin user password>

  • Log Viewer slow

    Dear all,
Since we implemented EP 6.0 SP18 running on Java AS 6.40 SP18, Oracle 10 and Solaris 10 the
logviewer takes quite a  while to start. I go
    to /usr/sap/SPS/JC00/j2ee/admin/logviewer-standalone and
    run ./logviewer.sh
or I go to Visual Administrator Cluster --> Server --> Services --> Log Viewer Service
The logviewer application takes 3.5 min to launch. As soon as it appears,
all work ok . As I said, this has been happening since the first
    installation we did
Any ideas how I can make it startup faster?
    Many thanks

  • Admin_client.jar - connect to a remote standalone oc4j instance

    Hi
I have installed a standalone instance of OC4J on a remote linux box. I am trying to connect to that running instance on a windows box using the admin client jar supplied in the oc4j_admin_client_101310.zip file but get the following error -
Failed at "Could not get DeploymentManager".
I am able to connect to a remote OPMN managed instance and a local standalone instance but not to the remote standalone instance. I know the remote instance is ok as i have logged in and validated the URI using the admin_client.jar on that box. The URI format i am using is as follows -
    deployer:oc4j:host:23791
Is it possible to connect to this instance remotely?
    Thanks
    George

Hey George -- admin_client.jar can connect to local/remote OC4J standalone instances -- it connects to all sorts of things in 10.1.3.
The "could not get deployment manager" message is very vague, I certainly appreciate that.
What it usually comes down to is the deployer URI being incorrect in either the format being used or the host:port being incorrect.
Sounds like you have validated the URL correctly.
Just as a sanity check -- you can ping the remote server from the windows box?
The oc4j standalone instance is up and running?
    The ORMI port is 23791?
What you could do if you want to see if there is an underlying problem is to enable the client side logger for admin_client.jar.
    The doc describes it here:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B31017_01/web.1013/b28950/adminclient.htm#CHDHIABJ
Set it progressively to the FINE, FINER, FINEST levels and see if anything suspicious is identified in the log outputs that might be helpful.
Let me know how it goes.

Yes I was able to see my trace messages in SXMB_MONI. Below is my the info... This is great. I am still not sure why this info is not showing up in Log Veiwer's (default trace) window. Any ideas? Since this XML file contains lots of other information I was wondering how to put my trace messages into the log viewer.

The lines I marked in bold are the ones that caught my attention. What is this error and how can I fix it?

Hello, thanks for your answers. I checked the JVM Heap size, we are using a 64 bit HW, and it was already set to 2048M, as well as both parameters Xms and Xmx. I also checked our virtual memory and directory space, the virtual memory looks fine, and the <SID> directory uses 5 GB of space.
If you wish, I can write the configuration found on the Config Tool, where you set the JVM Heap size and other parameters.

    WITH REGARDS

    Hi,
Go to the manage screen for that ODS. See teh relevent request and find how many records were transferred and how many added.
If it is zero added records, then check for any rules.

  • Audit log viewer

    Hi to all
    I'm newbie to SQL Server.
I'm trying to configure the server (Enterprise ver. 11) to track change regarding  insert/update/delete of records inside a simple single table.
I dont know exactly what and how the audit features of SQL Server write and track, but I need a table where I can read the changes on some table or some field of that tables.
    I made some empirical temptatives.
I created the Audit Server (on Security of database instance). Then I created the "Server Audit Specification"...where I specified UPDATE as type, OBJECT...my table, and entity... my user that connect to database (For this temptative I'm using
a Access database linked/connected by ODBC. Work good because I see the changes made in Access, inside the SQL Management Studio).
than I activated the Audit Server... then activated Audit Specification (on my database schema).
I made some change on table... but I see empty the View Log Viewer.
I try to configure the audit server as file or as application. I don't know if the problem is there.
Could someone give me some basic/dummie suggestion?
    thank you.
    Daniele.b75

    Hi,
Alternately, you can create a trigger to audit the table and then write certain information to another table. Here is a sample code.
    create table demo
    ( c1 varchar(50)),
    c2 varchar(50)),
    go
    create table audit_demo
    old_c1 varchar(50)),
    old_c2 varchar(50)),
    audit_UserID varchar(50)),
    audit_Timestamp datetime,
    audit_action varchar(50))
    go
    create TRIGGER updDemo
    ON demo
    for UPDATE
    as
    if(UPDATE(c2))
    begin
    INSERT INTO audit_demo
    (old_c1,
    old_c2,
    audit_UserID,
    audit_Timestamp,
    audit_action)
    SELECT c1,c2,SUSER_SNAME(),GETDATE(),'update'
    FROM deleted
    end
    insert into demo values('a','p')
    insert into demo values('b','p')
    insert into demo values('c','p')
    insert into demo values('d','p')
    demo for update trigger
    select * from demo
    select * from audit_demo
update demo set c2='ppp' where c1='b'
    go
    select * from demo
    select * from audit_demo
    Thanks.
