Remoting with powershell to manage cluster

Hello. I have installed admin tools on windows 8.1. I can use all the available tools/snap-ins except for the failover cluster manager. That's because the cluster is based on winserver 2008 r2. That's okay. Now to the problem. I want to use the failover
cluster module in powershell instead, but when I run the import-module failoverclusters, the module cannot be located on any module directory. I checked the specified path; c/windows/system32/powershell/v.10/modules and the failovercluster folder is there.
I am using powershell 4.0 on windows 8.1. What can I do import the module and use the it's commandlets? Help.

Hi,
The Server Manager on Windows 8.1 or 2012r2 just has the Limited support to manage 2008r2. The detail content please refer the related KB:
Manage Multiple, Remote Servers with Server Manager

Hope this helps.

  • Integrating multiple UCCX clusters with same Call Manager Cluster

I want to know if I can integrate multiple UCCX clusters with 1 Call Manager cluster? If yes, can someone please point me to the documentation.
    I appreciate all the help..
    Thanks!!!

    Hi
Yes, you can. I'm not aware of specific documentation for this, but a couple of notes:
    - Make sure you use unique resource accounts (e.g. JT user in particular as that is automatically managed by UCCX and one cluster WILL break the other)
    - I would also use unique AXL accounts and probably RM accounts. RM you could share between clusters to just have one RM account to associate any agent phone to, but it's safer to have single-purpose service accounts.
    - You can't assign a user to a particular cluster - so you enable IPCC Extension on one user, they appear in 'resources' on both UCCX servers.

  • Please share experience with managed cluster

    Folks,
I am curious to hear about your experience with compressor's managed cluster.
Here is my experience with a setup that consists of
    a) 8 quadcore mac mini, with Mountain Lion and Compressor 4.06
    b) NFS storage connected with 1gb link to each mac mini
    c) Compressor preference set to never copy to/from cluster storage
Experiment 1: One managed cluster with 4 compressor service instances on eight mac mini. So a total of 32 compressor instances.
The instances are set to send an email when they go down.
Source: 4K Image sequence with 1850 images
    Target: Apple ProRes 422 (default)
    Output: NFS storage
    Observations:
    1) The target codec determines the number of segments the job gets broken down into. For example the HD 1080p setting will break the job into atmost 6 segments (regardless of 32 instances that I have available). In case of ProRes 422 the number of segment were 64 ie 2x more than the number of instances available.
    2) The compressors service instances are extremely temperamental and flimsy. I got over 100 error notification for this experimental job, about a dozen instances of compressor were in bad state/dead and the job failed with many errors as follows.
The error seems to indicate an issue with file naming, but I am unsure what it points towards

Source: 4K Image sequence with 1850 images
    Target: Apple ProRes 422 (default)
    Output: NFS storage
Observations: job failed, two dead compressor instances and about 20 error notifications of instance down
    Conclusions:
Overall, the jobs which transcode movies from one format to another have a good chance of success. However the same is not true for Image sequences.
The distributed compressor instances are extremely flaky and their revival scheme of four times(as per documentation) is not enough.
I am eager to know your experience with distributed encoding using compressor.
    a) What are your thoughts on stability of distributed encoding using compressor for a large number of jobs
    b) Is there an automatic way to revive dead compressor instances?
    c) What other tools are out there which perform better? I am looking for a way to setup unmanned operation.

Have been playing around with Report Designer and I found it useful for basic formatting but not  for the one's you had mentioned in your post.
SAPs suggests you do all the data manipulation in the Query Designer or Infocube and use Report Designer for just formatting the data. In the past we had issues where we could not certain calculation in query designer and have used Crystal Reports along with BI data for similar kind of things which you had mentioned in your post (using sub reports and report level data manipulation). Report Designer unfortunately does not provide any of these functionalities.
I have seen comments from SAP saying Report Designer will be developed further, not sure of any specific functionality whichis coming in. I think it is SAPs first step in the formatted reporting area and may be in the future we will have a tool which can handle much more complex scenarios!
    Thanks.

  • Can I remotely failover clusters with powershell from a non clustered server? Windows Server 2008 R2

    Hello,
I'm trying to remotely administer my windows clusters and fail them over with a PowerShell Script.  The server I'm using is not a clustered server.  I've already installed the Failover Clustering Tools.  I'm able to retrieve information about
my clusters but when I try to fail them over I receive an error saying "The cluster service is not running."
    The command I'm using is 'Get-ClusterNode $Server | Get-ClusterGroup | Move-ClusterGroup'
Error message:  'Get-ClusterNode : The cluster service is not running.  Make sure that the service is running on all nodes in the cluster'
Is there a way to install the cluster service or is there a different way to go around this error?
    Thank you!

    Hi Armando,
To get cluster node information, please try to use the cmd cluster.exe, like:
    cluster.exe node NodeName /force
For more detailed information to use clusterexe, please refer to this article:

  • SCOM 2012 Get Gray Management Servers With PowerShell

    Hi,
    I have SCOM 2012 R2.
I want to get all the Management Servers that are in Gray state using powershell. How can I do that?
I couldn't find anything good in the internet.
The best I got was Get-SCOMManagementServer but when I tested it out - it still showed that my gateway's HealthState was "Success" even though it was gray.
    Thanks,

  • Managing from Powershell 4 machines with Powershell 2 (WinRM)

    Hi,
is it possible to manage machines which have powershell 2 installed from a machine with powershell 4?
Background: I plan to write a script running in powershell 4 and like to query servers with have either powershell 2 or powershell 4 installed.
Is that possible? Is there something I need to consider?
    Thanks for your feedback
    Ruben

You cannot get scheduling from WMI.
You do not need WinRM to use WMI.  WF does not necessrilu use WInRM.  These are all separate technologies in WIndows that just happen to be available to PowerShell.
Start by learning how Windows works and what all of these technologies do.
You cannot guess your way through any of this.  Without good fundamtentals in WIndows technologies you will not be able to understand the lessons or discussions.

Use Shay Levy's "Remote Registry PowerShell Module", and modify the value of the "fDenyTSConnection" value in the

  • Multi-Site WAN With Centralized Call Manager

The customer has HQ with 15 Branches. Head quarter has about 4300 Phones, and Branches has:
    Branch 1 = 420
    Branch 2 = 256
    Branch 3 = 385
    Brnach 4 = 298
    Branch 5 = 262
    Branch 6 = 171
    Branch 7 = 200
    Branch 8 = 97
    Branch 9 = 198
    Branch 10 = 254
    Branch 11 = 269
    Branch 12 = 224
    Branch 13 = 90
I would still like to propose Centralized Call Manager Cluster with SRST, but little confused since the number of phones per branch is very high.
What would be best deployment model for this type of scenerio along with VoiceMail and CER.

Of course you can use CME/CUE, but the problem is that you need 3845 for SRST with CME/CUE, which cost a lot of money CISCO3845-CCME/K9 is $16495 plus CUE ($3000, not include voice mail subscriber box).
So I will agree what people suggest here.
I have centralized design (Publisher, subscriber) at Main Location, and another subscriber at remote site coz 500 users. I chose put subscriber there rather than use 3845 with SRST.
They share voice box at Main site (Unified).
The rest of remote site use SRST for backup.
Large remote site with T1 PRI with SRST if WAN down.
Small remote site with vic2-2fxo/4fxo with SRST if WAN down.
You can read the SRND here:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps556/products_implementation_design_guide_book09186a00806e8a79.html
Also, you can design multiple cluster depends the location of main and branches. For example, half office located at West Coast, another half at East Coast. If I were you, I will create two clusters.
Again, it depends a lot of things, for example bandwidth, round-trip delay etc...
    Hopefully, thats can help you.

  • Patchset3 (11.1.1.4/wls 10.3.4) Remote debugging JDPA in weblogic cluster

    Hi,
I am using Patchset3 (JDeveloper 11.1.1.4/ weblogic server 10.3.4). I was wondering how i can remote debug with
    a) weblogic managed server that is part of a weblogic cluster
    b) the cluster itself that contains multiple managed servers.
Note that i do understand how to remote debug against a weblogic server (e.g. http://jdeveloperfaq.blogspot.com/2009/12/faq-4-how-to-remote-debug-adf.html), but have not been able to find out how i can achieve this against a cluster that has multiple managed servers. Any directions will be appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
haven't tried it but here are some suggestions that might be of help:
    1) Each managed server for each cluster node should be setup for remote debugging. This means that each managed server must be started with the -Xdebug -Xnoagent -Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,address=4000,server=y,suspend=n* options in the WebLogic start-up script. Also Tunneling must be enabled for each managed server for each cluster node.
    2) Make sure that you specify a different connection port for each managed server. This is indicated by the address* specifier above.
    3) It seems logical to me that you will need to start separate instances of JDeveloper - one for each managed server that you need to attach to.
Let us know how it turns out,
    Nick

  • Disk Utility has Lost Connection with the Disk Managment Tool

    Hi,
For starters, this problem is not associated with the thread that Brian Z. has posted at the top of this forum. Having said that, here's my problem:
I had installed Security Update 2006-003, and Quicktime 7.1. Permissions were repaired before and after each installation, and all went well.
Some hours later, I was experimenting with Apple Remote Desktop. I had activated ARD in the System Preferences>Sharing pane, and it provided me an IP address associated with ARD. I then turned on Airport, and ARD provided me with an IP address associated with that connection. However when I turned off my modem connection, System Preferences>Sharing hung, and had to be Force Quit.
    Console Log follows:

Thinking a plist had become corrupted, I trashed the following:
    com.apple.systempreferences.plist
    com.apple.RemoteDesktop.plist
    com.apple.Remotemanagement.plist
    com.apple.sharing.firewall.plist.
System Preferences started out very slowly, but then all the panes except Sharing would work ok.
I booted from the install disk and performed a Disk Repair. There were no problems reported.
When I tried to run a Repair Permissions, after about 20 seconds I got the, "Disk Utility has lost connection with the disk management tool and can not continue. Please quit and relaunch Disk Utility."
I quit D.U. and the Installer, and was able to successfully run a Repair Permissions from the D.U. in my Utilities folder. It had no problems to report.
Continuting to troubleshoot the System Preferences problem, I then trashed the com.apple.preferencepanes.cache. This solved my System Preferences>Sharing problem.
However, I am still unable to perform a Repair Permissions after booting from my install disk (I get the subject message). Repairing permissions from the Disk Utility in my Utilies folder works fine.
Any thoughts out there on a logical way to troubleshoot where my problem is? Is there a way to get a console log when I'm running DU from the install disk, or a comparable source??
    Thanks,
    Bob

I found this crash log that was generated about the time I had problems with System Preferences hanging.

  • Hyper-V Fabric and Fabric Management Cluster

Dear All...........Would appreciate understanding of following:
What is the difference between Fabric Cluster and Fabric Management Cluster?
What virtual machines should be part of Fabric Cluster and Fabric Management Cluster respectively?
    Thanks in advance.

It would be helpful if you provided a source from which you pulled those terms.  They could mean just about anything without any context.
But I will take a stab at it based upon work I do with the Microsoft Private Cloud Fast Track program.  In this reference architecture, a private cloud is being built.  To manage the private cloud, a Hyper-V cluster is created and all the System
Center components required to manage the private cloud are installed on this cluster.  This cluster is called the Fabric Management Cluster because from it all components of the Fabric, servers, storage, networking, VMs, policies, libraries, etc. are
    managed.
Once that Fabric Management Cluster is established, any number of Fabric Clusters can be configured.  For example, the Private Cloud could be configured for a business, and multiple business units have virtual systems deployed.  The Fabric Management
manager could decide to build one large Fabric Cluster on which to deploy the various business unit machines, or the manager could create separate clouds, each consisting of its own Fabric Cluster.  Each separate cloud could be dedicated to the use of
    a single business unit.
Again, all conjecture on my part because you have not provided any context.
