Remove Battery while working at home

Hi there i just got my Macbook Pro Uniybody, Shall I remove the battery while im working at home if the battery is fully charged (leave the power adapter in), will this increase its battery life.
Thank you

In my experience leaving the battery in while working and the batteries are full, I and up buying new battery coz the original one got really destroyed from 100% capacity it just dropped down to 13%.
Well it didn't happen overnight but over period of time like 10 months.
I was told that the battery got overcharged. But keep in mind that before that, I had to claim the battery few times and got it replaced coz it just keeps dropping capacity because of that kind of usage.
Until now I don't know what's the right way of keeping my batteries life longer besides not using the laptop LOL .

  • Safe to remove battery while plugged in?

I heard that you can greatly increase the life of your battery be removing it when the computer is plugged in. I got my powerbook just last February and I can already tell a great deal of performance loss in the life of my battery, so I just want to know if it's safe to take it out when I'm not using it.
    Thanks

Oh yes. Just one caveat, should you lose power, the machine will almost instantly shut itself off. You have upwards of a couple seconds while the backup battery overcomes the loss of power. So keep the battery at your side.

  • Remove battery while using power adapter?

I mostly use my Macbook running on the power adapter and was told that this would kill the battery if left in the laptop. Is this true?

    welcome to macbook forum.
the answer is no, if you use the battery occasionally to keep the juice flow, and or calibrate it once a while like a month or so.

  • Advisable to take out battery while on AC Power?

Is it better to take out the battery while working for a long period of time via AC power?
I am worrying of overcharging the battery.

Although the battery will not overcharge, and yes, the battery acts like a UPS, but that does not mean that
Apple is right about leaving the battery in all the
    time.
All battery types (Lithium-Ion in our MacBook) degrade with time. Heat makes it worse. Leaving the battery 100% charged
    makes it worse. See http://www.batteryuniversity.com/parttwo-34.htm
I wish Apple provided a battery charge management tool like that which comes with the Thinkpad. It allows you to select the default charge level to leave the battery at, and has a built-in option to execute the charge down/recharge operation automatically. Its the only
tool I'm aware of which is designed for folks who use their laptops as desktops mostly.

Hi, I was working at home with my iPad, everything was going well. It went out battery and after this I am unable to connect to the wifi at home. Before getting out battery no problem, and now it sees the router signal but it is unable to connect to it.

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Why can't I use Siri or the GPS features while traveling in a vehicle? Works in home, shops, hotels, and other fixed places.

You need to be more specific about what doesn't work. The GPS works for me in a vehicle; when used with Google Maps its far more useful than the very expensive navigation system that was factory installed in my car.

  • Libretto U100 battery - can I remove it while on mains supply

If I recall correctly, my old CT70 required the presence of the battery to function at all. Will this be the same with the new U100? I would like to remove the battery when working on the mains supply, to lengthen battery life.
[Edited by: admin on 17-Aug-05 18:22]

    Hello Arthur
As far as I know all notebooks can works with AC power supply if the battery is removed. It is possible that your old Libretto has some problem with power supply electronic.
Anyway you can remove the battery and use just AC power supply. I do it sometimes with my Satellite P20 for the same reason.

  • Remove Battery or not?

I've just bought my first macbook and I'll use it as my main computer, or in other words 90% of the time it will be plugged in with magsafe. Shall I remove the battery while I'm at home? I'll eventually carry it to work, but let's say once or twice a week... How should I handle the battery?
I had a pc laptop before and I never removed the battery. By doing this, I killed my battery in less than 1 year. I don't want to make the same mistake again.
So, what should I do with my macbook battery?
now, one dumb question: what's the difference between the magsafe and ac chord? I can't figure out how to plug the ac chord in my mac.

Leave it plugged in, but once a week - or once a month according to Apple - unplug it and let the battery run down to zero, let it rest for a few hours, then fully charge it. (This is easier if you have a spare battery.)
You are looking for a balance. Leaving it plugged in all the time will - eventually - kill the battery. But, batteries have a limited life - a maximum number of cycles or partial cycles, in the 300 to 500 range. So you want to cycle it enough to keep the electrons happy and moving but not so many full cycles that it wears out before it's time.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Even though two steps are redundant, I suggest the following steps (in order, waiting for success of each before proceeding to the next):
    1) Register HRT
Homescreen > Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table > (it does not matter which line is current) > Register Now
    2) Resend Service Books
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
    3) Batt Pull Reboot
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then it sadly remains up to your carrier to resolve as they are the ones who deliver your services to you...

  • Work licences, home licences, CC and CS6

    Hi,
I'm currently conducting a feasibility study into upgrading my team's computers from PCs to Macs. We are looking into the possibility of upgrading to CC for Teams from CS6. The scenario I'm going to describe is a little complex, but I'm hoping you will be able to say whether this is possible.
Four team members, all to be running CC on iMacs in the office.
All four would like the possibility of running CC on their personal Macs and PCs for homeworking out of the office. I understand that it's possible to install the software on both work and home computers provided two copies don't run together. Presumably the CC for Teams version allows this.
Would each team member have an individual serial number and Adobe ID using their work email address?
The second part of this is a bit trickier as some of us already have CS6 on our home computers.
What happens to our personally-owned copies of CS6 on our hard drives?
If we are upgrading from CS6 to CC at WORK and we subsequently install that licence at home, does our WORK copy of CC identify our HOME version of CS6 as an upgrade candidate and remove it from our computers, or is it left alone by the CC installer?
Two of us do occasional freelancing outside of our day jobs, and would be continuing with CS6 due to budget issues, so it's important that we'd still have access to it.
    Thirdly:
If our work budget doesn't extend to upgrading to CC at the present time, can our existing WINDOWS licence for CS6 be ported across to our new iMacs, and if so is there are further charge for this?
    Thank you!

  • Any way to turn off only the parallax effect while enabling the home screen/folders zoom in/out animations?

I've just updated to iOS 7.1 and I had thought that there might be an option to turn off only the parallax effect while keeping all the home screen animations (the zooming effects) effective?? Is there a way to do that, or are the parallax effect and the animations come together under the "Reduce Motion" option?

Now I'm enjoying the zooming effects(animations) while at the same time, extending the battery life to some extent by doing some little settings! Thanks to the valuable answer provided by Ralph (see above).
    The procedure is:
Settings > Wallpapers and brightness > either choose a new wallpaper or tap one of your existing wallpapers > you can then turn on or off Perspective Zoom > tap Set
(If you turn Perspective Zoom OFF, you won't be getting the parallax effect or vice versa)
And after you complete the above steps successfully, you can say Goodbye to the useless (to me lol) and battery hungry parallax effect and enjoy the zooming (pretty amazing thing which looks good while working) at the same time!!!
But even after doing that, you can notice some parallax effect left over in the home screen, but I think that's normal (Or maybe even a bug lol). And the best part about that new option introduced in iOS 7.1 is, you can choose where you want the parallax effect to work (I mean you can either experience parallax effect in the lock screen or in the homescreen or both) It's your wish, buyt while doing the above steps, turn "OFF" the Reduce Motion in Settings>General>Accessibility>Reduce Motion>OFF
    Try it @GetVladimir.com !!!
    Regards,
    Paneesh.

  • Dv8315nr drops to battery while plugged in, especially under load

Have the dv8315nr and it keeps dropping to battery while plugged in, especially when the PC is under load, such as games or using CD drive.  The power block is ok, it has been tested with other power blocks and the issue still happens.  If you unplug the power at the pc and plug it back in, it will (most of the time) go back into a charging state.  I sent to hp while under the extended warranty and they sent it back with the diagnosis of "battery was bad, needed new battery".....and it worked ok until just out of warranty then started again.
I don't think it's the battery, since it happens with or without the battery in place (of course it dies completely when the power drops w/o battery in).
Has anyone experienced this and if so, have a method to fix it?  I suspect there is a hardware problem with the power supply in the laptop.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

It sounds like the beginning stages of a bad power jack. That is the place where you insert the AC adapter into the laptop. The problem is very common and requires that a new jack be installed. Fortunately for you, the dv8000 has the power jack as a separate plug-in module...it does not require soldering just removal and replacement.
Here is an internet ad for a company that does the repair. I am not suggesting you hire them but they do post some nice pictures of the internal workings of the dv8000 series so you can understand what I am writing about. The repair job is only modestly hard; not nearly as bad as if soldering were needed. The part is readily available.
