Remove security on Company Dimension

Hyperion Planning 9.3.1
We currently have security implemented on the company and entity dimensions. Security is granted to users based on being assigned to the appropriate company group and entity group(facility/location). We would like to remove the security on the company dimension and only have security at the entity level(facility/location). Does anyone know the best way to do this?

If it is a custom dimension and you don't want to use security on the dimension anymore then you can go to the dimension administration and untick "Apply Security"

Update the file it produces, then use the import security utility :- http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10530_01/doc/epm.931/html_hp_admin/ch03s06.html
You may need to use the SL_CLEARALL security to remove all the security first or just set security to none in the file for the company dimension members.

If you are unable to empty the trash, try holding the Option key while selecting Empty Trash.

Defining security on a dimension based on a role

Hi,
I'm using SSAS 2008 R2 with reports on it with Panorama NovaView 6.2. I need to hide a few dimensions and measure groups from a certain group of users. When I'm defining the new role for them I see the only options for dimension set is either "read"
or "read/write". I've tried entering the dimension data tab for the role, choosing an attribute from the dimension I want to hide, and enabling the user to see just the "all" member for that attribute. But when I browse the cube through
SSMS, I see both the attribute and the measure next to it as showing blank and not the total with the "all" member.
I saw older posts proposing to use perspectives, but they're not really security. I already have views based on the entire cube in Panorama and would like to re-use them. Any suggestions?...

According to your description, you want to define security on a dimension, so that different users can see different dimension attributes or hierarchies, right?
As you said, there is no "read" and 'read/write" option on the dimension tab, we cannot set "deny" option for the dimension when creating a role. Based on my research, it seems that there is no a directly way to achieve this requirement. What we can do is
that "Deselect all members" for each attribute of the dimension in Dimension Data tab, which will hide all members of the dimension for the role. Even the dimension metadata is visible in the cube in clients, its members can't be seen. Here are some useful

How to uninstall/remove security update for SQL Server 2012

My requirement is to uninstall/remove security update for SQL
Server 2012 Service Pack 1 only. so are these below steps are correct or do I need to take any extra precaution for uninstallation?

As per my knowledge in SQL Server 2005, we cannot uninstall a service pack. we have to uninstall SQL Server 2005 completely, and reinstall SQL Server 2005 with previous service
packs and updates. but Starting SQL Server 2008, we can uninstall a service pack using Control Panel.

Issues with Action Wizart to remove security

Hi,
I am using action wizard in Adobe11 to remove security from group of files, but it asks for password for every file and also prompts to save the file for each file. In earlier versions I used to do this with batch processing and it used to ask the password only for the first file and assumed same password for remaining, this is not happening in Adobe 11. Any help of this is highly appriciated.

Go to the "File" menu, then "Print." The window that appears will have three drop-down menus at the top.
The first is labeled "Printer",
The second is "Presets".
The third is unlabeled but has "Copies & Pages" selected by default.
Click on that third menu and select "Firefox" near the bottom of the list.

I am looking for removing security vulnerabilities that may be associated with XML parsers.
I am looking which version of Oracle XDK Java has removed security vulnerabilities associated with XML Parsing.
Also what is the latest version Oracle XDK Java is present in market.
Also is new version are backward compatible. Do we need to see is any change in API level occurs.
Currently we are using Oracle XDK Java 10.2.0.2.
Just a description of security vulnerabilities that may be associated with XML parsers are
"The vulnerabilities are related to the parsing of XML elements with unexpected byte values and recursive parentheses, which cause the program to access memory out of bounds, or to loop indefinitely. The effects of the vulnerabilities include denial of service and potentially code execution. Which JVM is the security tool complaining about (what is the directory path, for example)?
My guess is that the tool is complaining about the older JVM that Oracle installs in order to run the Oracle Universal Installer and the other Java-based installation tools. If that's the case, those JVMs do not generally represent a security issue because they are not running anything on a day-to-day basis. They're only used by things like the OUI which only get invoked when someone wants to do something like install new software. Ideally, you'd be able to have the conversation with the security folks and explain that those older JVMs exist only for the limited purpose of running the OUI and the other configuration tools.
If the security folks want you to upgrade the Java version (as opposed to just installing patches to the older JVMs), that has a decent probability of breaking the various installation and configuration tools. That may not have much impact on a day-to-day basis but may make administration tasks in the future more challenging.

My question is: Do I leave disabled or do I re-enable it? Not sure what is the right thing to do.

Leave it as disabled unless and until you need Java for a particular web site. Very few use it. Leave Java Script enabled as this is something completely different.

Just wondering if there is anyway of removing security updates, as since I updated recently to Security Update 2007-009 I have been experiencing extremely strange phenomenon with my browsing speed all browsers has slowed alot.
I really want to refrain from having to wipe and start again though!

Security on Year dimension in Hyperion Planning.

Need to enable security on Year dimension on Hyperion Planning for below requirement. I know that we cannot enable security on year dimenison in Hyperion Planning, but want know if there is any custom solution.
Requirement:
IT users to have write access to Scenario: FY12FCSTJUN for year FY12 for period JUN to DEC & FY13 for Period OCT to SEP. (Calender year starts at OCT of every year)
Normall users they want to have read access to Scenario: FY12FCSTJUN for year FY12 for period JUN to DEC and write access to Scenario: FY12FCSTJUN for Year FY13 for Period OCT to DEC
1)we can modify the start period, end period, start yr and End yr for FY12FCSTJUN Scenario dimension to make FY12 FY12FCSTJUN as read/write for Specific year, but it won't meet the requirement.
2)I have already tried making modification to the Planning respository table ( changed the value for ENFORCE_SECURITY parameter to 1 for DIM_ID 38 for Year in the HSP_Dimension table)on one of VM environments,but it won't enable security on the Year dimension.
3)We can create a Budget scenario to achieve above, but it involves too many changes accross all the webforms and B rules, so we want to see if there is any custom solution available.
Any suggestion/workaround to resolve the issue?

Oracle will be releasing a patch in dec 2012 to fix/enable the security on year dimension. this patch is applicable for 11.1.2.2 version.

4.2 removing security from dimension

We currently have a dimension in a 4.2 application that was mistakenly set up as a secure dimension. We have tried using the Manage Dimensions fuctionality to unselect it then processed both the dimension and saved the application yet this doesn't seem to do anything.
Is this possible? Are we missing a step(s)?

Was the dimension appset secured (so was security checked in the dimension itself?) or application secured (so was security checked in the manage applications screen of 4.2?). if it is removed in both screens then make sure you remove all the entries in your security sheet, since you have to do that manually in 4.2. Also process the dimensions and save the application. If this doesn't work check if there is still a table starting with the name ACS in the database for the secured dimension that shouldn't be secured and check into the tbldimension if there is still a security setting for your dimension in this table. If so try to change it here, but of course I would rather do it via the eAdmin menu.

Any websites requiring security, electric company, banking, etc. are not working with 3.6.12. Tried to uninstall and reinstall an older version but they are still not working.

I updated to the latest firefox about 3 weeks ago. I run version 3.6.12 on a Vista 32 Home Edition.
I have not had this problem before but when I try to access my banking, pay my electric bill, purchase from different websites, pay my isp company, anything with security - most pages are having errors. My banking says I was logged out do to inactivity but I just signed on, other secure pages either say error or keep me in an infinite loop of answering the same pages over and over and cannot move forward.

I'm currently using Hyperion Planning version 4.0.2. I tried using the ImportSecurity.exe file to update the security for the top member in Entities dimension (ie the dimension name itself) but it kept giving me this error:
Record not processed -Finance,Entities,READ,MEMBER- Invalid Member name.
All lines in Import Security file were successfully parsed.
No records inserted into the database.
1 Lines were not processed by the application due to errors.
My secfile.txt file looks like this:
Finance,Entities,READ,MEMBER
Am I doing anything wrongly?

How to remove security from pdf created in Acrobat pro 10 to allow addition of watermark?

Hi All,
I am a newbie to the forum. I have a dynamic form created in acrobat pro 10. Each time I open the form to add watermark on it, i have a message that says " You don't have sufficient permissions to perform this tasks" and as a result the watermark process will not proceed.
When I created the form, I save the form with no security in the default. But,when you click on the form properties, it will display that this form has some pdf restrictions such as :
Changing the document " Not Allowed" .
Document assembly " Not Allowed"
Page extraction " Not Allowed"
Filling of form fields " Allowed"
Page exratction " Not Allowed"
and host of other restrictions.
My question is how will I change this dynamic fillable form to allow all options as "Allowed" as this pdf form has some restrictions.
If all options are allowed like in normal pdf, I am able to add the watermark but when a restiction is placed, the message "You dont have sufficient permissions to perform this task is displayed.
Any help is greatly appreciated as I need to add the watermark as a control for this forms during distribution. If you want me to send the attachment and the message, i would greatly welcome it.

Security on Time Dimension?

A while back when we built out our BPC environment it was recommended that the Time Dimension not be part of security. What are you thoughts on applying secuirty on the time dimension?
Th reason I ask is because the getonly range on templates is fragile. Securing time would help us protect our actuals.

This is to fix Secure Time Dimension for DM in BPC 5.1SP01
Install this patch to receive an updated OSoftDMTaskMain.dll file. To install the patch, perform the following steps:
1. Uncompress the file CPMBPC01P_2.zip.
2. Locate the BPC Setup folder that contains the executable program file "[Server] AutoUpdate For BPC 5.1 (5.0.496.01).exe".
3. Run this executable file on the Application Server, choosing Install when prompted.
4. A "Successfully updated" message appears when the installation completes successfully.
