Removing single bullet causes global change to bullet indent?

This has been driving me insane for a while now. In previous versions, changing a single list item to "no bullets" in the inspector removed that bullet and left the rest of the page alone. However, in iWork 08, removing a bullet in this way (e.g. for an introductory statement) sets the bullet indent for all other bullets at the same indent level to 0... it moves them all to the left margin. This is pretty annoying behavior and wastes an incredible amount of time when reformatting pages. Does anyone know how to stop this?

You can use a regular find/change or a GREP find/change. (note that in each case, the find what has a space after the code for the bullet point)
You can choose to look only in text with a particular paragraph style applied, and/or you can change the paragraph style in the same operation.
(You can't see that option in my screen shots, because something has gone wrong in my program, and I'll have to reset it.)

  • How do I remove the bullet format from a list in Mail?

In Mail, I have a paragraph which 'is' a bulleted list item. I want to remove the bullet and make it a normal paragraph. I don't want to copy and paste it unformatted because then I lose the formatting and links. This incredibly simple thing should be trivial, but I've not been able to find an answer yet...
The question is: how to remove the numbered or bulleted list formatting from an existing paragraph?
    Thanks in advance,
    A.

    Start with this...
    abc
    def
    this should not be bulleted
    Do this...
go to the end of the 'def' line
type a few returns to turn the bullets off
    type some text
    Get this...
    abc
    def
    ghi
    this should not be bulleted
    Finish by doing this...
put your cursor at the beginning of the last line (inbetween the bullet and "this should...")
    delete backwards
    Voila!
    abc
    def
    this should not be bulleted

    Greetings,
I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.
    Good Luck - Cheers,
    M.

  • Can I globally change the itunes folder names

Due to some complicated circumstances regarding setting up a new laptop and copying my iTines media files across, I have created the following situation:
    1. All files are under a folder called iTunes/iTunes Media in their appropriate folders e.g. iTunes/iTunes Media/Beatles
    2. All of these files have been duplicated in a sub folder called iTunes/iTunes Media\Music e.g.  iTunes/iTunes Media/Music/Beatles
At some point, and due to some jiggery pokery on my part that I cannot remember, I have iTunes pointing to a mixture of these i.e. some albums are located in the ITunes Media folder and some in the Music sub folder
I need to remove the duplicate folder  to free up space on my laptop so would like to simply globally change any reference in locvations of iTunes/iTunes Media\Music to iTunes/iTunes Media\Music
This would solve my issue rather than trawl through thousands of missing location files and individually changing these. is this possible at the database level?

Rather than delete anything by hand I suggest you start by fixing the broken links with my script FindTracks.
You could then import the iTunes Media folder to reattach any orphaned files to the library.
You can then dedupe with my DeDuper script. See this thread for background and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping (actually that should be the first thing you do).
Finally turn Keep organize... off, then turn it back on again. Also make sure under File > Library > Organize Library that Reorganize files in the folder iTunes Media is greyed out. If not, tick the box and press OK.
The aim is to end up with the library set out as described in make a split library portable.

  • Bullet indentation Captivate 8 Patch 8.0.1.242 (latest) not correct on second line

When I publish a responsive module using Publish for Devices (html 5), the results of captions with bullet indentation are incorrect. The second line is not aligned with the first -- it appears that there is a 2 space padding. Is there a workaround for this? Or is this as good as it gets? Please advise!

Same, does it look like this:
Everything changes when previewed or published - why?

  • Run 4 global change at once

    Hi
I would like to know if is possible to run 4 global change within 1 command? I made 4 global change to set a indicator and evety time I update the time schedule I have to run 4 global changes to do the indicators shows the delay. Thank you all!!
    Ricardo, from Brazil.

There is no way to do this via the client. You may be able to setup something like this in the API but that would require a JAVA Developer to code and build you an interface (probably way more trouble than you just running each global change). The only other option you have is to combine the 4 global changes into a single one which may or may not be possible based on what you are trying to accomplish.

  • I cannot globally change file associations

I used to have Aquamacs installed. All .tex files were associated with Aquamacs. Later, I uninstalled Aquamacs and installed Textmate. I'd like to have all .tex files associated with Textmate.
To do this I went to a .tex file in the Finder, right clicked for More Info, went down to Open With and changed the associated app in the dropdown box from AquaMacs to Textmate. I then clicked "Change All...".
I would now expect that all .tex files on my machine open by default with Textmate, however this is not the case. Some of the .tex files open with Textmate; others still have the old Aquamacs associated. There is no discernible pattern as to why "Change All..." worked for some files but not others. I thought maybe the Finder process needed to be restarted for the global change to take effect, but I've restarted my computer and the old associations are still there.
What I'm doing now is going through my harddrive hunting for files to change on a file by file basis. But this is frustrating and seems like the sort of busywork
    1. Is this a bug?
    2. Is there a way to force "Change All..." to actually affect all of the files?
    3. Is there a way to remove Aquamacs from all Open With options? Since this program has been uninstalled, it seems like a bug for it to appear as an option at all.
    Thanks.

The following Terminal commands will reset your Launch Services database, which should remove Aquamacs from the "Open With …" lists, and should then allow you to use the "Change All …" button.
Open the Terminal (from /Applications/Utilities) and copy and paste the following into the Terminal window, one line at a time, with a return after each line:
    cd /System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Frameworks
    cd LaunchServices.framework/Support
lsregister -kill -r -domain local -domain system -domain user
    rm -f /LibraryCaches/com.apple.LaunchServices-014*.csstore
killall FinderThe last command will force a restart of the Finder (so you may find windows that you had "docked" re-appearing: don't worry!)

  • Global change of paragraph tags

I need to change like a hundred heading2s into heading3s, and heading3s into heading4s. I could do a find for each para tag and manually change it to a different heading tag, but I am hoping there is an easier way. Is there a way to select say 50 pages and globally change paragraph tags?

This works great, but only for a single file.
Is there any way to apply the Global Update Options to every file in a book file (i.e., every chapter in a book)?
    Thanks.
    * Make a safety backup of all files that you'll work with.
    * Change the definitions in a single file, then include that file in a book with all the files that you want to change to the same new definition.
    * Save the changed file.
    * Use Shift+File > Open All Files in Book; when you do the import below, all open files will be changed as you command, but will not be saved, so you can back out of the changes, if you discover unwanted results, by closing the files without saving.
    * Select all the files in the book window.
    * Use File > Import > Formats.
    * Choose the changed file as the source; turn off all the items except the paragraph formats (and character formats if you want them changed).
    * Click Set.
    * Inspect the open files for correctness.
    * When you're sure all changes are OK, from the book window choose Shift+File > Save All Files In Book.

  • How to globally change comment/pop-up color?

I'm hoping there is some way to globally change the comment/pop-up color for an already-commented PDF.
I work in design/production, and clients  provide all content revisions to me via PDF.
The problem is, 10 times out of 10, the default commenting color they use is yellow. The yellow color is almost impossible to see when I enable "show lines connecting comment markups to their pop-ups on mouse rollover" (Preferences > Commenting).
I really need the visual of the connecting line, because with 50+  pop-ups overlaying each other on a page (not uncommon),  it's almost impossible to tell which pop-up relates to which markup unless there's a line.
I want to globally change the yellow color to just about anything else -- red, green, blue, whatever. Just something that is dark enough so I can actually see what a pop-up connects to when I roll over it.
I can figure out how to individually change a comment color (right click on comment > Properties > adjust color > OK) which also changes the associated pop-up and connecting line. However, it's not feasible to do this individually when working with a document with 200+ comments.
Is there some way to globally change the comment color after the fact?
Changing the color as described above and then selecting "Make current properties default" doesn't change any of the existing pop-ups. It just changes the default color going forward for new comments.
Example of default yellow -- note that there is a connecting line but almost impossible to see:
Example of comment changed to blue -- can easily see connecting line:
I hope someone may have some ideas. This is a huge ongiong problem for me.
    Thanks!

I kept playing around and figured out a way to make it work. A bit harder than it should be perhaps, but it does the trick. Sharing here in case anyone else needs to do this.
Open the "Comments" sidebar (click "Comments" at top right of PDF in Acrobat X -- Version 10.1.8). From the sidebar, expand  "Comments List" by clicking the triangle. Manually select all of the comments on the list. With comments selected, right click (Command + click on Mac) on one of the comments then choose "Properties." From there, you can select a new color for the selected pop-ups.

  • Global change to the size of a text frame in InDesign 5.5?

Is there a way to make a global change to the size of a text frame in InDesign 5.5? I just laid out a book and the size needs to go up half an inch.

If you have worked properly and have done following:
Set up Masters with margins and columns,
Aligned all text frames with the margins,
    Turned on Layout Adjustment,
You will only change the margins on the Master and it will change every page.
    If not …
you have to do it manually.

  • Oracle Hint not causing any change to explain plan

    Hi,
I was facing a problem about ORA-00600 for using Connect by Prior query,
details of which are at -
Connect by Prior - ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [kkqcbydrv:1
As is documented by Oracle, workaround for this is to use /*+ NO_UNNEST */ in query.
I displayed the explain plan for original query and after putting hint in query.
There is no difference in the explain plans, I am a starter for explain plans and don't know much of it.
But shouldn't the hint cause some change in explain plan?
Even the hash values as mentioned in explain plans are same.
    Thanks in advance.
    Av.

Perhaps it would help if you put the query (with the hint) and the explain plan here.

Find and Replace (on the Edit menu) has an option to search
    the entire
site and replace text or code. Make a backup of the site
    before you
begin, because changes are not undoable in files that are not
