Removing TCP hex codes from ascii string

I have a TCP connection to my VI and I'm using PuTTY to communicate with it. It is a basic terminal with a few commands. On boot my first command is always unrecognized because a few TCP protocol's are sent immediately beforehand:
FF FB 1F “window size”
FF FB 20 “terminal speed”
FF FB 18 “terminal type”
FF FB 27 “Telnet Environment Option”
FF FD 01 “echo”
FF FB 03 “suppress go ahead”
FF FD 03 “suppress go ahead”
Each command is always proceeded by a command character "FF". I can remove the entire offending sting without any problem, however what I've been trying to do is remove any hex code following the command character. I have tried a few things with regular expressions without much luck. Any insight on how to solve this challenge would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Devin

I'm not a regular expression power user, but I'd try something like the code below (right-click on "Search and Replace String" to set the "Regular Expression" option). This code looks for \FF followed by either \F0 through FA, or \FB through \FE followed by any other character, which I think matches the rules in the Telnet protocol as listed here: http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc854 It replaces any match found with an empty string.

  • Hex code to ASCII

    Hey all,
    i'm programming a web application to take in an ASCII Art from a text field in a web page and store it in an sql database so that the application displays all
    the arts in another web page.
    however whenever someone types in: {
    it gets converted to %7b...
    thats not a big deal but when the other web page displays the collection of ascii arts it displays %7b instead of {.
    so all i wanna do is to convert the %7b to { before displaying it..
    kindly help..
    i wanna make a procedure which takes in something like: Hello%7bJava%7b!
    and converts it to: Hello{Java}!
    Ps. it should work for all hex codes and not only for %7b
    please not: i want to convert only hex code to ascii and not disturb any existing ascii..
    i.e in Hello%7bJava%7b!
    hello and java must be unaffected while %7b should be converted to {
    in other words i wanna convert only hex to ascii and not affect ascii

    If you lose or forget a restriction passcode, you will need to perform a factory restore to remove it.

  • Removing non english characters from my string input source

    Guys,
    I have problem where I need to remove all non english (Latin) characters from a string, what should be the right API to do this?
    One I'm using right now is:
    s.replaceAll("[^\\x00-\\x7F]", "");//s is a string having chinese characters.
    I'm looking for a standard Solution for such problems, where we deal with multiple lingual characters.
    TIA

    I have a string which has Chinese as well as Japanese characters, and I only want to remove only Chinese characters.
    What's the best way to go about it?Oh, I see!
    Well, the problem here is that Strings don't have any information on the language. What you can get out of a String (provided you have the necessary data from the Unicode standard) is the script that is used.
    A script can be used for multiple languages (for example English and German use mostly the same script, even if there are a few characters that are only used in German).
    A language can use multiple scripts (for example Japanese uses Kanji, Hiragana and Katakana).
    And if I remember correctly, then Japanese and Chinese texts share some characters on the Unicode plane (I might be wrong, 'though, since I speak/write neither of those languages).
    These two facts make these kinds of detections hard to do. In some cases they are easy (separating latin-script texts from anything else) in others it may be much tougher or even impossible (Chinese/Japanese).

  • Removal of T.Code from role

    Hi all,
    i have to remove a t.code FBRA from all the plants users, there are 40 single roles, with T.Code FBRA,  how can i remove it at a time, without deleting individually in each roles. Is there any method , plz let me know.
    Thanks & Regards

    Hi Syed,
                 Are you using a role which is created by using the standard role.
                 Copy the role to a new role then delete the transaction from the role
                 and assign the user with the newly created role. I think this would be one of the possible way. After that remove the users from the previous role.
    Please reward points if helpfull.

  • Missing HEX characters from scanned string

    Hi everyone,
    I have a program which scans a continuous string of serial data which is divided into header, data and checksum. I have replaced the serial part of my code with a simple string input to simulate the data input for testing and as in the diagram below you can see 0A, 0C and 0D are missing and I can't figure out why. Currently it is an exercise to parse out all the data I need for a data aquisition system. If anyone can help me out with this I would greatly appreciate it. This was in a different thread but it has dissapeared into the ether. Here is the picture illustrating the problem.
    Thanks again

    You are doing all this way too complicated. There is absolutely no need to use "scan from string" to simply chop up a string into parts. Use string subset instead (in a loop).
    You also have way too much duplicate code. You can operate on arrays directly and use array indicators for the channels. This reduces the complexity of your diagram 10 fold!!!
    I don't have your serial hardware, but attached is a small code fragment (LV 8.0) that seems to do about the same thing with your string using 10% of your code. Modify as needed. Let me know if anything is not clear.

  • Execute code from a string?

    I have a Java program that draws lots of different types of curves.
    I need to program how to save a drawing to a file.
    It would be easiest to make a file that has the string of the code which recreates the drawing.
    Is it possible to execute the content of a string?
    A trivial example would be you declare an integer
    int number
    and you execute the string
    "number = 10"
    so that the value of number becomes 10.
    Is this possible?

    However, how does your program draw the curve in the first place? What I mean is, if it draws the curve in response to some informatiion from the user, why not save that information as text and then draw the curve the same way when the text is read again later.

  • Retrieve the character from hex code

    I want to write the hex code / ASCII code of the English alphabets ( A - Z and a - z ) in a file and again want to read those codes (either ASCII or Hex code) from the file to retrieve the characters from them. How it is possible?
    For example, ASCII code of 'A' is 65 and hex code is 41.
    ASCII code of 'z' is 122 and hex code is 7A.
    Avijit

    Forgot that you need to convert them back:
            Character c = new Character('A');
            System.out.println("char : "+c);
            int ascii = (int) c.charValue();
            System.out.println("ascii: "+ascii+" => "+(char) ascii);
            String hex = Integer.toHexString(ascii);
            System.out.println("hex  : "+hex +" => "+(char) Integer.parseInt(hex, 16));

  • How to remove HTML tags from a String ?

    Hello,
    How can I remove all HTML Tags from a String ?
    Would you please to give me a simple example ?
    Best regards,
    Eric

    Here's some code I cooked up. I have created an object that processes code so that it can be incorporated directly into a project. There is some redundancy so that the it can be used in more than one way. Depending on your situation you might have to make the condition statement a little more sophisticated to catch stray ">" tags.
    I have also included a Tester application.
    //This removes Html tags from a String either by submitting the String during construction and then
    // calling getProcessedString() or
    // by simply calling " stringwithoutTags=removeHtmlTags(stringWithTagsSubmission); "
    //Note: This code assumes that all"<" tags are accompanied by a ">" tag in the proper order.
    public class HtmlTagRemover
         private String stringSubmission,processedString,stringBeingProcessed;
         private int indexOfTagStart,indexOfTagEnd;
         public HtmlTagRemover()
         public HtmlTagRemover(String s)
              removeHtmlTags(s);
         public String removeHtmlTags(String s)
              stringSubmission=s;
              stringBeingProcessed=stringSubmission;
              removeNextTag();
              return processedString;
         private void removeNextTag()
              checkForNextTag();
              while((!(indexOfTagStart==-1||indexOfTagEnd==-1))&<indexOfTagEnd)
                   removeTag();
                   checkForNextTag();
              processedString=stringBeingProcessed;
         private void checkForNextTag()
              indexOfTagStart=stringBeingProcessed.indexOf("<");
              indexOfTagEnd=stringBeingProcessed.indexOf(">");
         private void removeTag()
              StringBuffer sb=new StringBuffer("");
              sb.append(stringBeingProcessed);
              sb.delete(indexOfTagStart,indexOfTagEnd+1);
              stringBeingProcessed=sb.toString();
         public String getProcessedString()
              return processedString;
         public String getLastStringSubmission()
              return stringSubmission;
    public class HtmlRemovalTester
         static void main(String[] args)
              String output;
              HtmlTagRemover h=new HtmlTagRemover();
              output="The processed String: "+h.removeHtmlTags("<Html tag>This is a test<another Html tag> string<yet another Html tag>.");
              output=output+"\n"+" The original string:"+h.getLastStringSubmission();

  • Removing non-numeric characters from string

    Hi there,
    I need to have the ability to remove non-numeric characters from a string and I do not know how to do this.
    Does any one know a way?
    Example:
    Present String: (02)-2345-4607
    Required String: 0223454607
    Thanks in advance

    Dear NickM
    Try this this will work...........
    create or replace function char2num(mstring in varchar2) return integer
    is
    -- Function to remove Special characters and alphebets from phone no. string field
    -- Author - Valid Bharde.(India-Mumbai)
    -- Date :- 20 Sept 2006.
    -- This Function will return numeric representation.
    -- The Folowing program is gifted to NickM with respect to his post on oracle site regarding Removing non-numeric characters from string on the said date
    mstatus number :=0;
    mnum number:=0;
    mrefstring varchar2(50);
    begin
    mnum := length(mstring);
    for x in 1..mnum loop
    if (ASCII(substr(upper(mstring),x,1)) >= 48 and ASCII(substr(upper(mstring),x,1)) <= 57) then
    mrefstring := mrefstring || substr(mstring,x,1);
    end if;
    end loop;
    return mrefstring;
    end;
    copy the above program and use it at function for example
    SQL> select char2num('(022)-453452781') from dual;
    CHAR2NUM('(022)-453452781')
    22453452781
