Rename internal JDeveloper datasources
Hi all,
Is it possible to rename the internal datasources that JDeveloper uses? I'm asking because I have created many Web Services based on PL/SQL package using JDeveloper, and it's annoying to have to go change the datasource name in my web.xml before I deploy to our staging environment. I'd like my local datasource to just match my company's environment. I've looked around, but I can't find where/how JDeveloper stores these.

Do you have it set up so the IDE connection are overwriting the connections?
Also - you can try edit the data-sources file at:
[JDEV_ROOT]\jdev\system\oracle.j2ee.10.1.3.xx.xx\embedded-oc4j\config

Possible to copy or rename JDBC datasources in WLS 9.2 ?
Hello All,
We are going to be migrating our 9.2.3 environments to from an Oracle 9i database to Oracle 10g Cluster. We currently utilize approximately 20 datasources for all of our applications. Currently all of our applications each use one JDBC datasource, eg AppDS. However rather then modify our application configurations, we are going to create 2 new datasources, e.g. AppDS1, and AppDS2, along with a new Multi-datasource, named AppDS. This requires us to delete the original datasource AppDS so it can be replaced with a Multi-Datasource.
This would be so much easier if A) we could rename the existing datasource rather then delete it (i.e. rename AppDS to AppDS1), and B) copy datasources (i.e. copy AppDS1 to AppDS2.) Unfortunately there are no such options in the WLS console. Is it possible to do this modifiying the config.xml without my changes getting overwritten ? Would I need to propagate the config.xml and the newly created jdbc config files to the other server in our cluster or will WLS do it for me ? The copy feature (aka 'clone') was in WLS 8.1 and it is sorely missed in 9.2 !

Does Weblogic expect a standard naming convention for the XML files in the config/jdbc directory if I create a new datasource by cutting/pasting inside the config.xml ?

Setting in Datasource (Format Column)

I am a learner in BI.
How can i Change the format External to Internal in DataSource.
I was trying to load the data from Flat File to Infocube.
while activating DataSource i got an error.
ERROR: Field NAME ( Position 2 ): no conversion exit entered
Then i see the format is External and tried changing to Internal, but it is not changing.
I tried by changing the DataSource to edit mode and reactivated. After activation i have checked the DataSource, the format din't change. Again it shows external.
I am wondering is there anything to be done while creating InfoObject itself,
why the format is set to External by itself.
The InfoObject Data type is Char.

When using datasource concept (7.0), you go into change mode and can change the settings.
When using emulated 3.x source, you can recognise via little square in front of description, you have to set these in the transfer rules.
SS convert routine is just an indication which conversion routine is assigned to the source field.
Convert routine is the conv. rout. assigned to the infoobject. When storing data, it will convert to internalm format, when displaying, convert to external.

Running rwservlet with in-process server in JDeveloper
Hello,
I have a report.jsp in JDeveloper that contains both a web and paper based layout. I want to run this report within my web application using the in-process server. From what I understand, if I want PDF format I have to use the rwservlet. When I start my web application in JDeveloper, OC4J starts up, and it has the url of http://xx.x.xx.xxx:9004. How do I call rwservlet? I've tried http://xx.x.xx.xxx:9004/servlet/rwservlet and http://xx.x.xx.xxx:9004/reports/rwservlet, etc. etc. but have been unsuccessful. I always just get the "Resource /rwservlet not found on this server".

Thank you both for the help and getting back to me timely. So let me be sure I understand. When running my report in JDeveloper, I am not able to run the rwservlet because it is not deployed on the 9iDS instance of OC4J that JDeveloper uses, because JDeveloper uses a lightweight version of the 9iDS OC4J containers (Or rather, is it not even a version of 9iDS OC4J?). So, I have to start a separate 9iDS OC4J instance which does have rwservlet deployed. So if I try the unsupported trick and deploy reports_ids.ear to the same OC4J instance that Jdeveloper is using, I may be able to get everything working with one instance of OC4J. If I do, what about when I deploy my report to a production 9iAS server? I'm thinking that the 9iAS instance of OC4J would have the rwservlet deployed, so my application would be fit for this environment, and I would still be running everything on one instance of 9iAS OC4J. I also have the idea, for development, of instead of running my application and reports using the internal JDeveloper OC4J instance, I would use a standalone 9iDS OC4J instance on my machine and just run everything (my web application and reports) on this. Do you think this would be feasible? Should I be able to use the JDeveloper debugger to remotely debug all this?

Jdeveloper does not start after patch update

The simple answer is that the SU4 update contains an extra jar which is not needed.
If you go to the jdev/extensions directory and rename oracle.jdeveloper.vcs.10.1.3.jar to oracle.jdeveloper.vcs.10.1.3.jar_old, then rename oracle.jdeveloper.vcs.10.1.3.jar.backup to oracle.jdeveloper.vcs.10.1.3.jar jdev will start correctly. A bug has been logged for this, and we will correct it as soon as possible.

We had reports from some people that had problems initially and then it worked for them.
Also note that if you are an Oracle employee working behind the Oracle firewall you need to get the file from the internal jdeveloper.us.oracle.com site. -
Jdeveloper dependency on ANT script for .JAR file for ADF Application

We need to create a .jar file for an ADF project consist of Model & viewcontroller. We are able to create jar file with help OjDeploy in my ANT script.
My query: Ojdeploy uses internally jdeveloper home to complete the task. After going through the generated script, we came to know about below two references:
1. oracle.jdeveloper.ant.library = ${jdeveloperHome}\\ jdeveloper\\jdev\\/lib/ant-jdeveloper.jar
2. oracle.jdeveloper.ojdeploy.path = ${jdeveloperHome}\\jdeveloper\\jdev\\bin\\ojdeploy.exe
Is there any way to remove above dependencies so that we can create .jar file without installing Jdeveloper on a machine ?

Mohitojdeploy requires a JDeveloper installation.
Without going into the debate as to whether this is "good" or not, that's the way it works, I personally don't have a problem with installing JDeveloper on a build box (after all, you do have to install other software on the build box, too).
If you don't want to install JDeveloper, you can hand-roll your own ANT scripts which is good for racking up the billable hours, but not so good at maintainability. -

We have a use-case where we need intercept the event of af:inputComboboxListOfValues component.
I have table, which has three columns, Name, Description and Label.
I have a LOV on Name column.
When user change the value of Name column by selecting an value from dropdown, I need to do business validation, I show user the "Yes/No" popup with warning message, and base on the user's choice, either proceed with the change or stop the change.
My problem is that I am unable to find a appropriate event to show the popup.
I know there are several events in the af:inputComboboxListOfValues component, launchPopupEvent, returnPopupEvent and valueChangeEvent.
1. If I show popup on launchPopupEvent, after the user click "Yes/No" button on the popup, the page will be refreshed and dropdwon doesn't show the item list.
2. returnPopupEvent and valueChangeEvent event will be handled by framework in one request, there is no chance for user's interaction.
I am not familiar with ADF event handling machenism, can anyone help me?

first of all, never post questions regarding internal JDeveloper builds (11.1.1.7 is not released to public) on this public forum. You are from Oracle and therefore have internal channels for this (note that using internal builds the problem could be with the build and not necessarily the code alone).
To your question:

doesn't work. If you set the "name" column component to autosubmit="true" then the listener fires as soon as you move out of the field and you can raise the alert. The current row in the binding points to the row you changed the name for and as such the value can be unset (the value change listener shows you the before and after value)

First/Previous/Next/Last buttons not working in Applications Master Detail

I attempted to create an Applications Master Detail UI by selecting Applications : Master Detail from the Applications Component Palette. I created the UI using my headers table (APPLCORE_SHIPMENT_HEADERS) as the master and the lines table (APPLCORE_SHIPMENT_LINES) as the detail. The master is shown as a form and the details are displayed as a table below. On the screen with the checkboxes to include First, Previous, Next, Last buttons, I checked all of them.
On the backend, my headers table has two rows.
When I ran the page:
1. When the page comes up, it shows the data for shipment header 1 and the associated details in the table below. This is correct.
2. However, the First and Previous buttons are enabled at the top. They should not be enabled since I am on the first record, and there is no previous record. This is incorrect.
3. When I click Next, the data does not update to the the next header record (shipment header 2). The data is still for shipment header 1. This is incorrect.
4. When I click Next once more, an Error window pops up:

ShipmentLineId Error java.lang.NullPointerException
ShipmentHeaderId Error java.lang.NullPointerException
LineNumber Error java.lang.NullPointerException
ItemName Error java.lang.NullPointerException
(same error is shown for all other columns in the lines table)
I was under the impression that we do not need to do anything special for the First/Previous/Next/Last buttons to work, other than checking the boxes in the page creation process.
The application in question is here:
/home/sheyu/jdevhome/descflexdemo/.
The ui project specifically is in this folder:
/home/sheyu/jdevhome/descflexdemo/mywork/descflexdemo/ui/
I have tried to start from scratch several times to no avail. Please advise.

Downloading extension SDK fails
Howdy,
I'm trying to install the extension SDK from within JDeveloper 11.1.1.1.0, but I'm failing miserably. It seems that the download manager cannot connect with the download server. The update manager displays the SDK as a download option, but when I select the item and press "Next", connecting fails and the Summary page displays nearly immediately.
There is no apparent sign of failure, but the download did not finish successfully and when checking $HOME/.jdeveloper/tmp/update, the file "esdk_bundle.zip" has only 708 bytes! Enabling debug output reveals that the update manager seems to require a proxy server.

But I've explicitly disabled the proxy server in the preferences, because it does not seem to work.

I could not find any information about an alternative proxy. Can anyone provide some information about how the proxy and/or update manager can be configured to allow downloads from the internal Oracle server? Or is there an alternative means to download the extension SDK?

EarlenceI think it is technically possible, as you can get access to the JDBC Connector service using J2EE's JNDI feature ... Then you can use the internal DB datasource to read data from tables (read ONLY, cuz I'm not sure it is a good idea to update data "outside" the box, and reading can also have potiential perf or stability issue) ... Some (better) methods can also exist !
