Rename SID
is it possible to rename an existing SID? The problem is that I have a production database (Global Database Name = FUNDS, SID = FUNDS), and I just created a test server with the same Global Database Name and SID. Can I rename either the Global Database Name or SID on the test box once it has been created?
Try this,
I had done long time ago.
What ever I remember.
# Nisar Tareen
# take the Backup control file and change the create crontrol file line by
# putting the new database name instead of old and modify NORESTLOGS to RESETLOGS
# also remember to change in the end to the file
# alter Global_names as per new dbid and open database with resetlogs.
# add in front of Recover database using backup control file ;

Oracle 10 Express Edition, SID and DBNAME HELP!!!
Hi i'm from Russia and my english is very bad!
Please, help!
I'm use Oracle 10 Express Edition and i have a problem:
My soft use speciefied database name, how i can (and may be then)
rename SID and DBNAME?
I .. change instance with "oradim" ,and change SID, DBNAME with "nid"
I change not listener configuration.
Please, help me. ...Thank'sThe Express Edition SID is 'XE'.
If you change that, it is quite possible your database instance will stop working - or worse, work mostly, but not correctly all the time. XE is a special configuration and stuff like the SID are hardcoded in funny areas.
The database registers itself with the listener. You should not need to change the listener configuration. -

BW 3.5 homogeneous system copy/oracle 9.2
Hello
We have an big BW 3.5 system. Like other productive systems which needs to be fully available we would like to perform homogeneous system copy.
In case of ECC system we are doing this procedure of renaming <SID> within Oracle tables on disconnected secondary side(so the productive system is fully functional). Then we connect this database(with renamed <SID> to test system) and perform bdls, TMS management etc....
I wander in this regard BW 3.5 has any major difference which would prevent something like this?Dear Jan,
BW system copy is little bit different from ECC or other netweaver system copy. Check SAP Note 886102 - System Landscape Copy for SAP NetWeaver BW.
Note 184754 - Procedure after BW database copy

SID Showing instead of friendly name after renaming the server
I had to rename a windows 2012 R2 server and after I rename it, Sever is showing SID instead of user friendly name.
Even when I try to add new domain group or user in any resourse of this server, the friendly name disappear, soon after I hit apply button.
So far I have done the following
disjoin/rejoin - same result
disjoin >delete AD account > Rejoin - same result
I confirm that I have see the new server name in AD. DNS is OK too. Could find anything (i think) related to this problem.
I can see the following errors
1. The server {9BA05972-F6A8-11CF-A442-00A0C90A8F39} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout. EVENT ID 10010

the user and computer accounts are in the same forest. Ensure the user

available to compete this operation Event id 5820
4. The UAC file Virtulatization service failed to start due to the
following error: This driver has been blocked from loading.Event ID 7000
I have not deleted the computer account in the second time. Then
rejoin but this time i didn't get the message but the issue with SID
showing instead of friendly name is still there. These are related , i
can see
I can see the server in the domain and DNS also updated.

SID Rename of a PI/SLD/DI system
Has anyone performed a system copy+SID rename of a NW2004S system with PI/SLD/DI on it? Is this possible? It seems like there would be a significant amount of configuration with the SID name embedded in it and practically everything would have to be reconfigured after the copy. This is a prototype system/sandbox which has been asked to be renamed. I'm wondering if it would be faster to perform a new install as there hasn't been significant development on this box.
Hi David
I will tell you the simple steps
1.Create an export CD of the parent SID
2.Perform the normal system copy procedure. You can change the SID
3.The catch is once systemcopy is done you have to check few things:
a.Go to configtool----securestore and check if the details of new SID is updated if not change it.
b.Cross check the SLD most of the times the SLD points towards older SID,you have to correct it.
c.Check instanceprofile as well as other profile parameters, see if the details of new SID is updated.
If you have any problem feel free to ask.Its a simple stuff and you will be able to do it.
Reward suitable points -

Thanks for the quick responce !!
Yes, it is mentioned in the System Rename Gude(Page# 22).

Not sure why this is happening. I have uninstalled and installed LR3 three times on my Dell Laptop Running WIN 7. I have 8 gb RAM and a 750 gig HD. The processor is an Intel Core i5. According to the requirements, I should have enough hardware to run LR3. I have installed the updates so that I am running LR 3.6. For some reason, I am unable to locate the "File Renaming" and "Destination" sections on the right hand column. The "File Handling" and "Apply During Import" are visible. I have registered the program with Adobe, and believe that I have all of the current updates. The program loaded in the 64 bit mode.
Has anyone run into this problem before?
I have been unable to get the program to work properly without being able to have access to themissing items for Upload.See here on how to take a screen shot, then add it to your post by clicking the little camera icon right above the post text box:

Rename SOAP attachments on Receiver side
Hello Experts
I have a synchronous scenario where File <-> PI <--> SOAP, where I try to retrieve attachments from target system and create a file.
However the name in the attachments received from target system are not being retained. I used the code snippet from blog: Retaining SOAP Adapter Attachment Names in my response mapping (Sys2 -> Sys1) and it doesn't seem to help. Any pointers?
Thanks
JayaHi Jaya - Never tried with sync scenarios but
I hope you handled the content type as explained in the blog..
1) Code for textual attachments e.g., XML, flat etc.. with required encoding e.g., UTF-8
contentType = contentType + ";charset = \"UTF-8\";"+ "name=\"" + attachmentID + "\"";
2) Code for binary attachments e.g., pdf's, images etc..:
contentType = contentType + ";"+ "name=\"" + attachmentID + "\"";
and "Read Attachments" is checked the operation mapping... -
Hi Supports,
I am using sapinst homogeneous system copy in Linux on sybase.
I stuck on the the step 27/49 "create Database".
I checked Firewall is off.
i got points in my sapinst_dev.log that "
1)The log segment in the target database 'SID' is too small (9216 MB) to accommodate the log segment from the dumped database (10240 MB)"
and
2)"Can't change the owner of the master, model, tempdb or sybsystemprocs database"
Do i need to increase "sybase/SID/saplog_1" ? because my "saplog_1" is 49 mb now.
if it is ! how do i increase in this stage.
can any one know about this error???
Thanks,
Aziz.Hi,
When i seen SID.log file so its showing deadlock and checkpoint occurring,
Is any solution ???
Is this because of networks?
we had 2 servers on this same IP. but i stopped one server and one is still running.
please find my SID.log file and revert back if any soltion.

I updated my Numbers for Mac only to find out that there are several changes that make it less appealing for me so far (and I don't think it's only the learning curve). Questions: a) can I somehow edit the location of where I can find all the sheets (right now they are on top of the page, and you can't see all of them listed at quick glance but must scroll/arrow through them) I have in that spreadsheet? In the previous version they were all easy access on the left hand side.
Or b) can one go back to a previous version of a program somehow?
Thank you for any leads/answers!
Lcan I somehow edit the location of where I can find all the sheets (right now they are on top of the page, and you can't see all of them listed at quick glance but must scroll/arrow through them)
On my machine I just hit shift-command-j (the keyboard shortcut I assigned in System Preferences) and a list of the sheets in the current document pops up:
I type a number from the list and jump immediately to that sheet. The hands never have to leave the keyboard.
(This particular document had a sheet named for each month. But the sheets in your document automatically will be listed instead.)
This is done via a Jump to Sheet Automator Service (Dropbox download). To install just doubleclick the .workflow package and (if needed) click 'Download Anyway' in System Preferences > Privacy & Security.
Installation will cause a new item to appear in your Numbers > Services menu. Then, if you want a keyboard shortcut, go here in System Preferences and add one:
You can rename or remove the service by holding down the option key in Finder and choosing Go > Library > Services. You can also view the AppleScript contaned within the service by opening the .workflow package in Automator.
Note, also, that in Numbers 3 you don't have to use those left-right arrows upper right to slowly scroll left-right to the sheets that are out of view. Just move your cursor up to the "band" with the "tabs" and drag left or right. That's much faster than using the arrows.

10.4.9 ::: Renaming files / folders does not work the GUI way
Hi,
just realized a strange problem on an Mac Mini (10.4.9) here.
The installation contains 3 user-accounts
Problem only occurs for one of those three accounts
Description:
- If the user tries to rename a file via
a) mouse click on the name or
b) get info dialog
the folder/file name gets marked as supposed
BUT it looks like all keyboard input is ignored at all.
That results in the point that this special user-account is unable to
rename any file/foldername.
All files i have tested display correct ownership in the GetInfo dialog.
Rename works without problems if i am using Terminal.app and the MV-command.
Based on that i assume that the ownership & permissions are correct.
All other user-accounts do act like suppoed regarding renaming etc...
Is that a common bug under certain cases ?
Can you provide me any solution for that problem / bug ?
Can i offer any additional information to help debugging this problem ?
best regards
fidelOk i realized the MacMini is usualy not shutdown at the evening.
So i guess this special Mac was running/sleep/running for several month now.
Maybe just a strange-side-effect of that nig uptime...anyway its a bug.
A Restart fixed that problem now for this time, but according to some other threads / discussions i have found during my research it seems like its a known problem in general
I am still interested if there is a real work-around ofr that issue
Best regards
fidel
