Renaming generated files

Hi!
I've created a very simple process in Workbench using Output to merge XLM and XDP files and generate PDFs.
Everything is woking fine, but as I get dozens of XML and generate the same number of PDF files.
I'm using WriteDocument service operation from FileUtilsService (Foundation) to save the files and I marked the Append a suffix to the file name to make it unique if it has been used option.
It works, but the suffixes appended to the file names are random numbers.
I need to name the files in sequence - how do I do it? Do I have to add any other block to this process?
Thank you for any hints!
Marcos

You will have to create your own counter and use a function to concatenate the file name with your counter before you pass it as a parameter to the Write Document function.

  • Generated files do not rename automatically when doing save book as

I'm using FM8. Inside of your book, generated files are suppose to rename to your book name automatically when you do a "save book as", the filenames are not changing, does anyone know why this is and what the solution is?

Is it the actual physical filename of the existing generated files or the filenames as shown in the book file that you are referring to as not changing?
FM doesn't rename the actual existing files, instead it expects the book to be regenerated at which point it will create the new generated files.

  • How to rename a file in Application server

    Hi All,
Here I have a issue with  the present file which is being generated in application server.
Before the completion of the file the EDI tool is extracting the file from the app server. So here I would like to generate the file with a temp name and then rename to the actual file name which EDI recognises and fetches.
Please correct me If I am wrong and let me know how to rename the file in application server.
    Thanks,
    Vijay N

you can try using unix command , if your application server is unix.
    use move command
    mv   <source>  <target>
    REPORT ZUNIX line-size 400
                    no standard page heading.
    data: unixcom like   rlgrap-filename.
    unixcom = 'mv file1 file2'.
data: begin of tabl occurs 500,
            line(400),
          end of tabl.
    data: lines type i.
    start-of-selection.
      refresh tabl.
call 'SYSTEM' id 'COMMAND' field unixcom
                    id 'TAB'     field tabl[].
or else you can open dataset/ read the dataset and move it to another file and delete the old file.

  • Renaming MXF files and pulling them out of their file structure

My company's workflow necessitates that we pull mxf files out of the file structure and rename them. I know this is a big no-no, but with CalibratedMXF it is no problem.
My proposed workflow was to use Prelude to locate the mxf files from where they are backed up on my drive, ingest them, copy them to a new location, and rename them.
In attempting this process, however, I am realizing that Prelude will not pull mxf files out of their file structure. It copies the entire mxf folder structure to the new location, and renames the media only in Prelude (the clip name, not the filename).
The only way to get Prelude to rename and discard with folder structure upon copy to new location is to check the 'Transcode' box and transcode the media.
I want to work natively in mxf, I do not wish to transcode or rewrap.
My workaround was to transcode the files to the exact same setting: MXF Op1a with preset 'Match Source (rewrap)'
However this process simply forces Prelude to crash.
Any suggestions on how I can batch copy and rename mxf files, instead of going through each level of folders for each clip and dragging the file out and manually renaming one by one?
    Prelude CC
    OS X 10.9.5
    3.5 GHz Intel Core i7
    files are C300 MXF Op1a MPEG-2

    Hi Kaye,
Sorry if I missed this in your description of the problem, but what device is generating the MXF files you are attempting to rewrap? Also, when Prelude crashes, which it should not do obviously, does the crash reporter launch? If so, can you copy or attach the report into a reply?
    Thanks!

  • How to rename a file once it is created with util_file utility.

    Hi,
A flat file is generated with util_file utility, now we want to rename the file using utilities available with Oracle. Can any body give any solution..?, Any package is available...?
    Regards,
    G. Rajakumar.

    Hi Raja
If you are using Oracle 8i or later version you can easily do it writing a Java stored procedure and calling it,
    in your PL/SQL wrapper function.
I recently had a similar problem and did it successfully.
If you need the code along with the wrapper function, I can send it to you on your e-mail.

  • Rename temporary File

    HI,
I am doing a RFC to File scenario , at the Receiver Communication channel I am using the Use Temporary file with the " Put File " option , Now my requirement is to rename this temporary file Else file ca nt be picked by AS400 system.
So My question  is can we rename this temporary file ?
    If yes then how .
    Thanks and Regards,
    KLK

    Hi,
<i>As renaming temp file is not possible .. If I directly drop my Temp final file on As400 as Venkataramanan was saying and rename it to the required target file name . I am supposed to run a remote command on As400 from XI to do that
    using Shell ..</i>
When you choose the option temp file then the file adapter transfers the data of the file by writing the file in the specified directory by a temporary name ( You don't have to choose the temp file name. the system creates the name on its own)
Once the file is fully written the file is renamed with the name that you specified in the FileName paramter of the Adapter.
    1. So you don't have to write the shell script.
    2. the file adapter generates it's own temp name
    3. the file adpater renames it once the file is fully written. you don't have to rename it.
    Hope this helps

  • Mac renaming .vcs files to .ics files without prompting... Can I stop it?

I use a site that takes my work schedule and generates a .vcs file that I can import into whatever scheduling program I want...
When I download the file from the website on my PC, it saves it as a .vcs and everything is fine.
When I do the exact same thing on my Mac, it renames the file to 'calendar.vcs.ics' and iCal complains that the file is bad and can't be imported. If I remove the .ics extension so the file is just 'calendar.vcs' iCal is able to import it just fine.
Why is the Mac renaming the file when it gets downloads? How can I stop it? I've tried on 2 different G4 Minis with all the latest updates, and I can't find anything to stop it!
    Thanks in advance!
    Jeff
    G4 Mini   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
It sounds like the file originates as a .vcs file. The Mac is not renaming the file, per se. When downloaded, the Mac (iCal) will by default append the .ics extension since it's eventual home is iCal. Having the .vcs extension already in place prior to the DL is what makes things complicated. iCal will import either file extension, but not both appended.
Although this example from the Apple Knowledge Base is not related, the resolution is probably the same, i.e. you need to manually remove the extension prior to the import into iCal.

Well, the one problem you have is that for the "Move" function, the source file input should be wired to the output of the "Build Path" function, not to the duplicate path out of the "List" function. Also, you need to pass the error cluster around with a shift register. Otherwise you will not catch an error that may have occurred during one of the file rename operations.

  • File names of generated files

    Hi All,
Why is it that a generated file is no longer generated once added to a book manually or renamed ? It is the same file, I should say.

FrameMaker has always required that the generated files be named relative to the name of the book file AND FrameMaker needs to create them.
The first is not exactly true, that is just the way the FrameMaker UI handles those issues. You can rename TOC etc. files from within a book and they will stay generate-able files. But you are correct that (at least when using the UI) FrameMaker needs to create them inside a book.
A little background: FrameMaker documents are just documents and they know (almost) nothing about any books they might belong to. They especially don’t know whether they are generated files or not.
A book has links to documents which are called »book components«. Book components have some common and some different properties compared to documents. Numbering e.g. they have both, but as soon as you update a book, the settings for a book component "win" over any document settings. The knowledge if a document is a generate-able book component just lives inside the book, so with the UI you have to create them inside the book using the Add menu.
Using the FDK or FrameScript you can make any file a TOC or IX, and there is no special naming required. In most situations it is a good idea to stick to the way the application handles it.

    hi experts,
We have written start routine to get the storage location text and sending to File located at Application server through OPEN HUB.
here is the code written in the Transformations
    In the global section
    Text for 0STOR_LOC
DATA: l_0stor_loc_text TYPE HASHED TABLE OF /bi0/tstor_loc
              WITH UNIQUE KEY stor_loc.
        DATA: l_0stor_loc_text_wa TYPE /bi0/tstor_loc.
and in the code to get the text
" Populate the lookup table for 0STOR_LOC
        *SELECT * from /BI0/TSTOR_LOC*
into CORRESPONDING FIELDS OF table L_0STOR_LOC_TEXT
FOR ALL ENTRIES IN SOURCE_PACKAGE WHERE
                  STOR_LOC = SOURCE_PACKAGE-STOR_LOC.
im sure there is problem with the Routine only. i think i need to change the code if so please provide me the modified one.

  • How Do RoboHelp 9 WebHelp Generated Files Handle Map IDs and Aliases?

The text below was written by our team's developer/architect. I am the help author who uses RoboHelp to write content and generate the help files, but I am clueless how it all gets generated and is deployed. Please help. We use RoboHelp 9. I use it in Windows XP and our app and help run on IE 7, 9, and Firefox (multiple versions).
"Our application uses the numeric identifiers associated with the Map ID. For example, to get to the <appname>_home_page.htm file, we use the number 1053. <appname> = pecs, in this example.
All of this is used in a call to a RoboHelp method defined in the RoboHelp_CSH.js file. The mehtod we are calling is the RH_ShowHelp() JavaScript method and the code to perform the call, when you click on Page Help, is this:
    RH_ShowHelp(0, ''/pecsHelp/index.htm>pecsHelp',HH_HELP_CONTEXT,topic);
Topic is translated to the Map ID number for the page help. HH_HELP_CONTEXT is defined in the RoboHelp_CSH.js file. This method translates into a URL and from what I have seen, the URL that gets generated is this:
    http://{server}[:port]/pecsHelp/index.htm/{server}[:port]/pecsHelp/index.htm#<id=1053>>pecsHelp
Server and port get replaced with the appropriate values. I have no clue how id=1053 is supposed to get translated to mean "pecs_home_page.htm". If you check the PECS_help.h file, you will see the following entry:
    #define PECS_Home_Page1 1053
Then in the RoboHelp alias file (PECS 3.0.ali), the following line is in the file:
    <alias name="PECS_Home_Page1" link="pecs_home_page.htm"> </alias>
But both of these files are used during the WebHelp generation process and I don't know how the WebHelp generated files handle the Map ID and aliases."

You need to assign the numbers you find in the pecs_help.h file to topics in your help. You do this in Context Sensitive Help > Map Files > All Map IDs. (From RH7, but I assume the location is similar in RH9.) This creates the entries in the .ali file.
Peter Grainge suggests a couple of sites to read for a greater understanding here:
    http://www.grainge.org/pages/authoring/calling_webhelp/using_map_ids.htm
(Although the second  site is based on RH X5, the basic concepts and procedures should be very similar. )

Try installing Perian or VLC. Some AVIs require a codec which simply isn't available for Mac OS X.

  • I want to remove what Skype identifies as "Tell you friends what you are feeling . . . ."  One person on the Skype community said I could rename a file, but he thought I was on a PC.  I am using OS10.7.4, and Skype is functioning OK.

One person on the Skype community suggested:

Actually it is possible to delete your own mood message updates but it requires an unsupported ”fix”.
You need to delete the keyval.db database file. In order to be on the safe side, it’s best just to rename this file, so you can always get it back if something went wrong.
You can find this file by entering %appdata%\skype in the Start Run/Search box. This will open the Skype User folder. Locate there the folder with your Skype Account name and the keyval.db file will be there. You must stop Skype from running on your computer before deleting/renaming this file. Next time you start Skype a new version of this file will be recreated and all mood message updates will be removed from the home page.
However, this guy didn't know I was on a Mac.  I phoned Apple to see if they could show me how to get into the Skype file apparently on my computer, and they couldn't find it.
Anyone out there have any ideas?  It doesn't seem as if I have any Skype files on my computer.  If I need to make file changes via "the terminal," can someone tell me how to do this?

    Hello,

  • How do I import old FCP projects that have mysteriously changed to Linux Executable files?  Is it as simple as renaming the files with the.fcp extension?

I had some FCP projects on an old G3 tower that I finally want to finish. I was able to grab everything, media, etc. to my macbook pro but all of the Final Cut Pro actual movies/projects have turned into "linux executable files" that FCP X won't import.
I tried googling this issue but didn't really see any good answers. Would it be as simple as renaming the files with the .fcp extension?  I can't recall if my old version (really old) of FCP saves projects as .mov or .fcp files, but I'm assuming I'm not the only person this has happened to.
    Thanks for your help!

I had some FCP projects on an old G3 tower that I finally want to finish.
What version of FCP was this? The project files can probably no longer be opened in the newer version of the OS. You could try adding the .fcp suffix, but I don't think it will help for this. Projects files are .fcp.
Regardless of the version, no legacy FCP projects will import into FCPX.
Media is a different matter. These are probably QuickTime .mov files. If these are appearing as Unix ececutables, they're probably not recoverable either.
