Replace Color - selected areas turn gray instead of desired sample color. HELP?!

Hi, I am using Photoshop CS3 and have a question regarding "replace color."
First...here are the steps I enacted prior to trying to use the 'replace color' function:
1. In RGB Mode - - Selected and filled a shape a color.
2. Ran the selected object through Alien Skin/Impact "Chrome" function.
3. Selected 'adjustments/desaturate.' Did this so that I could then go to Adjustments/color balance..... and then change the entire color of the object to a predominantly red chrome looking scheme.
4. After giving the object a 'chrome' appearance, I wanted to go into the 'white' hilite areas of the object and sample them - and then change them to a bright red color....this is where the 'REPLACE COLOR' function comes in.
5. So I use the color sample eye dropper within 'REPLACE COLOR' and select the white areas I want to change to red...as the 'selection color.'
6. Then, I click down in the lower color box (result color) and sample a color that I want to change the white hilite areas to...in this case, red.
7. This is where the problem occurs - - even though I chose a result color of red...the white areas turn to grayscale within my colored object...so just those areas are gray!!! What the heck??!!
So... how can I desaturate a selected object... then recolor it using 'Color Balance'.... and then replace colors and have the replaced colors actually be a color instead of a gray color?
My file is in RGB mode and everything else is in COLOR.... yet I cannot replace areas within this colored graphic with other colors...it just keeps putting gray tones into the object.

Hi Curt - - this occurs even if I select a color within the same file... something about desaturating the file and then adding color back into it...I can't get it to replace color after that.

Welcome to the forums.
To remove the adjustments, select the affected images, go to the pulldown menu >Photos>Reset All Adjustments.
or
in the adjustments tab, the cog in the top right hand corner of the tab, Reset All Adjustments.

Downloads backgrounds are turning black instead of white

On my Max os10.5.8 use to have white background and black lettering on downloads. Starting last week my Adobe Reader downloads are opening with a black background with blue lettering bearly able to read. How do I change to white background and black lettering.

It is opening as a smart object. Simply right click on the image in the layers panel and "Rasterize Layer" when you are finished placing and sizing the new image.

Sadly Mac OS X 10.9 did indeed remove sync services. You can either wait for http://www.markspace.com/ to improve their software to support it on its own, contacting them asking they do so, or if your machine is older than Mavericks boot off of the original operating system it came with when you need to sync data from contacts and calendars, or get an iCloud compatible device for syncing.

Can't select area for pasting

Have reinstalled version 4.6. Although the select area turns to blue despite left clicking on it then going to the web page I cannot select anything and nothing appears in the clip book. I am running windows xp and version 8 of explorer.
Any help before I ditch this programme would be appreciated

For DAQmx, you should be able to setup all of your channel settings for the SCXI-1531 by creating a DAQmx Task. Previously, in Traditional DAQ, this was done by selecting Properties.

Turn off the Reduce Transparency setting.

"Replace Color" in no-color areas?

Hi all.
Why is it that I can never do "Replace Color" in colorless areas (black/white/gray)? Am I missing something, or does this tool *completely* rely on saturated colors in order to work?

You can achieve this with the Hue/Saturation adjustment layer by checking the Colorize box, adjusting Hue and Saturation as desired, and setting the Lightness slider to a positive value for black areas.
You could do two layers, one for non-black neutrals where you don't adjust lightness, and then a second layer where you only select the blacks and use similar settings but with some lightness added.

Neither worked. Please help!

Try delete those songs using iTunes by de-selecting and sync. After that mark those songs and sync again.

Ios 7 selection area instead of swipe

HI Everyone,
Somehow my iPhone 5, running iOS7, now has a selection bar showing up instead of simply swiping or tapping an area. I haven't a clue how this was envoked, nor have I found a way to turn this off. I've tried rebooting the phone, but no lock.
I'm assumiing this is some sort of accessability function. I can work my way to settings, but cannot get the phone to scroll down to other areas in the screen.
Any suggestions?

You can't go back. Why do you want to go back? 7.1 is much more stable then 7.0.6.
It's only very important since 7.0.6 and 7.1 that you are not giving every app access to GPS only the ones you trust and need (e.g Maps). Some bad apps (e.g. because of a bug which i had with an app called 'Scoupy') could still run in the background and could drain you battery although the app is closed. Also e.g. resetting you iPhone then doesn't help.

No matter what I have set for the foreground color, the "replacing" color is gray. How do I fix this? FAST HELP NEEDED!

Any color I select is automatically set to gray...

What does "replacing color" mean? what tool/ function? What images? What system? What version of PS? What else? You need to be a lot more specific and provide more info.

Then if you have tried all the browsers try connecting the system to yoour router with an Ethernet cable and turn WiFi off. If you have the same problem then it more then likely after your computer, Router or modem or connection from your ISP.
If you get good browsing with the Ethernet cable then it is either the WiFi card in your Mac or the WiFi system in your router.

Today I was doing my chemistry homework when all of a sudden my mid 2011 MacBook pro running Lion 10.7.4 started going very very VERY slowly to a point where it was unusable. I restarted my computer and went to type in my password. When I did this, the computer recognized the password and began to boot yet the pinwheel came on and the screen turned gray and went back to the account selection screen. It continues to do this everytime I enter my password and I can no longer access my account. How do I fix this.

but I suspect your going to first have to create a data recovery drive
Create a data recovery, undelete boot drive
to get your data off the machine,
then do a #20 to eliminate the bad sectors as that's why your getting the "pinwheel" it's getting a delay reading from the drive, right when your trying to log in too, what a bad spot for it to happen.
