Replace default contacts images

This may seem small compared to losing all contacts or something, but it makes me batty. I would like to add an image to a contact card in "Contacts."
Yes, I know how to add a default image, but what good is placing a #@$%# basketball or a snowflake going to do??
And how stupid is it that the camera option is ready to take a picture of me?? So every contact in my Address Book will have a picture of me? Who thought of that?
I want:
A) an image of my friend (duh). I may not have it in iPhoto. It may be something I screenshot off of FB. A picture.
or
B) a map -maybe instead of a face, I want a picture of a building where they work or a map pic to their home, this would actually be useful.
I do not want, and cannot imagine a use for, a random image of a flower. Was somebody high when they created these options?
So can somebody tell me how I can go to wherever those dumb images are stored, in whatever library or folder, make them visable, delete them and replace them with images I would actually use?

I find sometimes with Apple products, simply trying what seems intuitively like it should work actually does work. I don't recall ever seeing this documented either, but it seemed like it was worth a try.

If it's the splash screen you speak of, a custom skin defining these selectors may work - af|document::splash-screen, af|document::splash-screen-content, af|document::splash-screen-message and af|document::splash-screen-icon.
Please note that I have not tried these myself.

Can i replace the contacts in iCloud and on my phone with those on my computer?

When I enable iCloud on my iPhone 5 the contacts from my address book (Mac OS X) are merged with those on my iPhone, creating multiple entries. I have tried merging duplicates, but it resolved only some of the problems. Now I am seeing all of the updates from my computer added to those on my phone instead of replacing information I have updated. For example, in some entries I see the correct address (sometimes more than once) as well as the old address I replaced on my computer (sometimes more than once). I tried "replacing the information on this phone" when I synched, but the problem persists. I want to use iCloud to sync my contacts, but I don't want to merge with iCloud, I want to replace the iCloud data with the data on my computer.

Step 1 - save VCF file of contacts on your computer
Step 2 - Delete contacts in icloud.com
Step 3 import VCF in icloud.com
Step 4 make only icloud contacts visible on iphone by going to contacts -groups and take checkmarks out of everything but icloud.
Step 5 make icloud your default contacts from now on. Settings - mail contacts and calendars - contacts - default contacts.

How can I change the default cover image in iTunes?

I've scoured the web for this info but can't seem to find it. Is there a way to change the default cover image in iTunes to one of my choosing? You know the one I'm talking about right? The transparent CD cover with the musical note in the middle of it... the one that shows up when iTunes can' find appropriate cover art for your music. I have another image I'd like to use instead, as I've never liked the default image at all. The one I have to replace it is an image of a blank CD case. Kinda cool and would look infinitely better than the default in my opinion.
Has anyone done this before? If so, can you describe to me how it's done, or point me to somewhere on the web that describes how? Many, many thanks in advance Have a great weekend!!!

I understand what you mean - I too, would like to see some variability in the 'default'. Besides having a single default, I would step that up to a default that changes with genre and media: ie. I could see using a sax for Jazz; a microphone for a Podcast, etc.
I don't have the answer to your question yet, but I think I'm going to crack open the iTunes package to see what default images there are embedded in there.

Changing the default jdk images

Could any one please tell me where are the default jdk icon images stored for example the jchechbox etc. Can i replace any of the images for example if i want to change the default JCheckBox image,can i do that ?

The contact image is gone once you activate call i...

i just got my nokia 5800.. and i have assigned some image "assign as contact image" to my contacts... so when that particular person calls, his or her picture will be shown.then i went into settings ---> personal---> theme---> this is this option called call image. You can choose user defined which means that you can assign one particular picture to show everyone anyone calls...however when i want to deactivate it , i choose none as previous but now the contact image does not show anymore when that person calls!
is this a bug or am i not getting the setting right?

can i ask what software version are you currently having? mine is V20.0.12 . mine is currently set to "none" and my contact image does show when the respective person calls but if i change and set a pic for the caller image and later get it back to "theme image" it will no longer show the contact image but the default wallpaper for that particular theme. I thought that this could be a problem with the theme itself because i have notice something very strange too.. certain theme which i'm using ( not the default theme supplied by Nokia) when i try to change to the other tabs for example bluetooth, there is no response, doesn't work but once i change back to default nokia theme , it works.

Can't change contact images in Address Book

I am trying to update contact images in Address Book. Everytime I add a new image, it blinks for a moment, then goes back to being black. In my email, the images flit between being available, being old images, and being blank. I've been trying for two hours so it's not a "sync" or "just wait" issue. It keeps telling me that I am a different person, assigning a different contact card to myself, flitting back and forth between contact cards declaring that they are "me," and randomly allowing or not allowing pictures to be updated. What's going on?

Please realize that is only slightly more helpful than it started with a letter in the alphabet and ends in plist. Almost everything in that folder starts with com.apple. That is the default naming convention. It is a reverse domain name system (think reverse web address). So all Apple's preferences start with com.apple.
For anyone trying to fix a similar problem, please don't randomly delete plist files. While most will cause no harm and will get rebuilt automatically, deleting some will cause a little shock and awe. com.apple.mail.plist being the most shocking. If you delete it, you will not see your email in Mail until you recreate your accounts exactly as you had them before you deleted the plist. The email is still there, it is just that Mail doesn't know how to find them.

Google Contacts Images (It's driving me nuts!)

Hey everyone! I have been a long standing Blackberry user, and for the past year I've been using Android and one of the best features of Android is how closely my device was tied to Google (Calendar, Mail, Contacts, etc).
I'm back to Blackberry! I love the 9900! It's a fantastic device! (maybe not the camera, but everything else yes!).
BIS offers Google contacts syncing, but no contact images. Google has the GSync tool, which doesn't offer syncing of images either while it does offer Google Calendar syncing of multiple calendars on my account which is just fantastic.
I've tried multiple ways of getting my contact images onto my computer then sycning via outlook to, but it gave me a lot of problems, while it did give me contact images.
Please, can anyone offer any way to get images for my contacts? I have over 1,100 contacts (for work) and keeping an image helps a lot and this seems like something SO Basic!
Does Blackberry Protect offer image backup, too? I could sync ONCE to OUtlook then to my BB, then just use Blackberry Protect. Or does anyone have any ideas!?

Default desktop image

I'm not sure if this the right place to ask this question but here goes-- I am a school librarian with 15 G5 iMacs and an OS X Server. We have used user management to set up permissions for the students but I would like to set the default desktop image to one that I have created with some information I would like the students to see when they login. I can do that for individual users but not as a default for all users. Can this be done? I was able to do this in the past.

scp is a command-line tool to securely transfer files from one host to another. It could help you to streamline the process of updating the image, but it might be tricky with all the spaces in the path. I just tried to do replace Aqua Blue that way for a few minutes without success. Don't worry about it if you're happy with your method.

Default poster image for each exported video

Anyone know of a way to change the default "poster image" of each video that is exported to the MobileMe web gallery? The default icons that show up for each movie in my gallery aren't very good and I'd like to change to a different frame if possible. I know you can do this easily for photo albums by setting the key photo but cant find a similar way for videos. Maybe there is a setting in iMovie that I'm missing?

If you are trying to change the favicon for your site,
You can do it from Site Manager-> Page template -> Default Template
Look for the code <link type="image/x-icon" href="/Path for your image" rel="icon" />, and Click save.
Now where you will use this template, it will display your favicon for that webpage instead of BC favicon. You can define it on Page directly if you are not going to use template.
Please let me know if you have any doubt.

I can't seem to merge a redundant contact list with a current one. If I delete the redundant contact list I will lose all of my contacts that I have (still) been inadvertently adding using this as my default contact list.

When I was working with my old job I had a contact list on my phone that was associated with my job's personal email address. Now that I have a new mac and am now a new full time student I would like to use my new uni email address as my default contact list. I have now made this change but have only just realised that I have been adding contacts for a period of months using this now redundant list.
When I sync my computer with my phone (which is working great using iTunes), I am unable to get all of my recent contacts.
I have three groups:
"All contacts" - I understand this is all of my contacts on my phone
"All from My Mac" - This is my new list and constitutes around 80% of my contacts
"Contacts" - This is the old list from my previous employer and contains (I think) 100% of my contacts. Well all of my useful ones anyway - maybe 99%. I would like to delete this group as I don't use the email address anymore and don't work for them!
The end result that I am looking for, is a complete list of ALL of my contacts synced with my computer in Outlook, and to be able to delete my old work contact list!
Please help (you bunch of legends).

Launch iTunes on your computer.
From the menu bar click iTunes > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Click Reset warnings and Reset cache
Click OK.
Restart your computer, launch iTunes.
Click Store > Check for Available Downloads...

How can I replace ALL Contacts on the iPhone with my MobileMe Contacts?

I have removed all duplicates in AddressBook on my various Macs and have uploaded the master copy to MobileMe. I would now like to replace all Contacts on my iPhone with that MobileMe master.
I have followed the steps in the KB article for syncing the iPhone but when I get to the step of turning on the iPhone Settings for the Contacts it looks like the sync wants to merge the contacts. Of course, I do not want to "merge" since that will reintroduce all those duplicates.
I suppose I could manually delete each of the the hundreds of contacts that are on my phone until it is empty ... and then turn on the iPhone setting for Contacts. That way it will have no option other than "add." But surely there is a more efficient way.
(FWIW, when I turned OFF the setting for the Calendar it did empty the iPhone's calendar, which is what I wanted. But it didn't do that for the Contacts -- I turned that setting off but I was not asked if I wanted to keep or toss the Contacts. They are all still on the phone.)
This is an OG iPhone, if that matters.

Brilliant! That worked like a charm.
I created a new User Account on one of my Macs and logged into it. I connected my iPhone to its iTunes and checked my iPhone's Sync Contacts option in iTunes. Since that account's address book was basically empty (two dummy contacts, one for Apple and one for this new user), I ended up with only those two Contacts on the phone. Then, going back to my real User account (which does not have syncing turned on in iTunes) the phone synced nicely with the MobileMe account and populated the phone with all the MobileMe contacts and groups.

How do I set the default Hero image in a Muse slideshow widget when using Free Form Thumbnails?

I am trying to find out how to set the default Hero image when using a Muse slideshow widget and in the Layout section I have the "Free Form Thumbnails"
box checked.
In other words, when the page loads I want to define which image displays as the first Hero image.
If I do not select the "Free Form Thumbnails" option, the top left Thumbnail image always displays first. This is fine.
But when I select the Free Form Thumbnails" checkbox I don't know how to define which image shows first as the Hero image.

Okay… I think I've worked out how to do it!
[1] First have the "Free Form Thumbnails" box UNCHECKED.
[2] Organize the Thumbnails and place the image that you want to be the first Hero image when the page loads in the top left corner of the Thumbnails group.
[3] When you "Preview Site In Browser" the Thumbnail image in the top left corner will always display as the first Hero image.
[4] If you want "Free Form Thumbnails" go ahead now and SELECT that checkbox.
[5] Whichever image was in the top left of the Thumbnail group before you checked "Free Form Thumbnails" will still show up as the first Hero image when the page loads, regardless of where that thumbnail image is located within the Thumbnail images group.

Hi,
The sequence of operation you are doing to set the home page for public users is correct. You are getting the login screen as the "custom page group" selected as "home page" has not been granted to public.
Also, while logging-out, it is normal behaviour to get the screen where it shows the list of partner applications from where user has been logged-out. When you click on "Return" button, you will get to the "home page" set above.

How can I synch ONLY the default 'contacts' folder in Outlook 2003?

I am using Outlook 2003 SP3. In my 'contacts' menu I have 3 folders: 'Contacts', 'iPhone' and 'Old.' I created 'iPhone' and 'Old' folders and 'Contacts' was the default folder. When I synch my 3G iPhone with Outlook I want to synch ONLY the default 'contacts' folder. But I can't seem to do this. My options are to synch all folders or a selection of non-default folders (i.e., anything but 'Contacts.')
Does this make sense? I don't want to synch anything in the 'old' folder to my iphone. But I also don't want to move all of my current contacts to a special folder just so I can synch only these items.
So when I synch my iPhone I want it to limit the synching to only the default 'contacts' folder.
Is there a way to do this?

Open one of the folders that keeps changing. Set it to the view mode you prefer. Press Command-J (Show View Options in View menu).
At the top of the View Options screen is an item which allows one to set "Always open in xxx view". Chekmark that.
Repeat for each folder you want.
This is a per-folder setting. Note that the View Options screen is 'live" - you can leave it open, and as you open successive folders it will display the settings for each in turn.
