Replace phone mail problems

Apple decided I needed to get my iPhone repaired so they sent me a new loaner to use while mine is 'in the shop'. It was easy to change the simm card and sync the phone but sending mail is failing. When I first go my iPhone I didn't have to fill in any passwords, Mail just worked. Now I have to fill in passwords and I'm getting dialogue boxes that say I have the wrong password or that there is no recipient when there clearly is a recipient.
Thoughts?

Thanks.
Actually the password didn't make a difference. It just took time before it just started working.
I had to laugh because one of the reason I send my iPhone in for repair was the iPod would start playing music after a call. It's supposed to do this when you are listening to music but if you are not listening it's shouldn't play.
Well the loaner phone does the same thing. What are the chances?

Slide up from the bottom of your display to access the control panel.
Look for the button (should be at the top) that shows a crescent moon.
Tap that button. It should say "Do not Disturb: Off".
Then try it out and let us know if it worked.

If you received a photo stream photo on your phone, save it to your camera roll, then locate the photo in the Photos section of the Photos app, tap the location listed above the photo in Moments and it should show you where it was taken on a map (assuming location services was enabled for the camera on your phone).

  • Replacement Phone Problems

I am currently now on my 5th GNEX at this point and the device is faulty. I have had everything from overheating, battery drains, and no 4g reception so far with these replacement phones and sometimes even a combination of these. I contacted samsung and they said that they do not replace devices sold by the verizon support team ,and that they do not hold the warranty for the device and that verizon does. Verizon offered to allow me to switch to another phone ,but that it had to be a 4g phone and that the galaxy s3 and razr maxx were not available. At this point i want a working phone and am willing to downgrade to an iphone, but will there be a way for them to get around the 4g phone rule. As far as one tech supervisor was concerned not having 4g wasn't an issue and that i should just deal without it. So would it be possible to downgrade especially considering the new iphone launch is sept. 12th?

So get this, talked to a Tier 2 support representive yesterday and I've got to say, my faith in Verizon is completely gone on fixing this issue. The Tech tried to tell me at first that they had nothing to do with pushing either the signal or OS (jelly bean) update to the GNEX and that is purely from Samsung. I asked him how he knew this and did he have any legitimate documentation stating this and he said that he knew friends and family who worked for samsung >Post edited to comply with VZW ToS<
I was somewhat baffled by this statement and asked him "so you give special access to the manufactures for your network to push updates to your phones?". Wow that's mighty trusting of Verizon! (Mind you, I've called Samsung and talked with their tech support and they have told me countless times they have nothing to do with pushing these updates to the phones). After hammering the Rep with logical questions for 30 minutes he must of broke, because he then stated that Verizon thoroughly test updates for defects and the OS before THEY PUSH THEM OUT TO THE PHONES! Uh Oh, looks like "Mr. I don't know what the heck I'm talking about Verizon Rep" just shot his initial story down... I of course exploited is untruth and he retorted with "I didn't say that, you're putting words in my mouth". So now he starts to lie to me again realizing his mistake. They again offered me the choice of the crappy replacements HTC Rezound and the Moto Razr. Funny thing here is the initial rep I talked to before the Tier 2 support offered the Samsung S3 but she had to transfer me to Tier 2 to make sure. To everyone with the Verizon GNEX, you might as well suck it up and face the fact that Verizon has screwed us! You can either play the GNEX replacement game (which Verizon doesn't take into consideration the process their customer has to got through in order to save all their data then push it back to the replacement device). You can forfiet what we all thought was a top end device for an even bigger piece of crap (of course Verizon would not have the common decency to replace our highend device with another one. They would rather give you a phone that was rated by all the top tech site as what appears to be mediocre at best. This too was another heated discussion with the Tier 2 support. He claimed that the reviews I speak of are pure user speculation. Wow, didn't know that the tech reviews at Anandtech, Cnet, Maximum PC and PC World were user speculation. That's like saying a review from Consumer Report is pure user Speculation). Last but not least, you can keep your GNEX and hopelessly wait for Verizon to push an update (or Jelly Bean) out to your phones to fix this problem (I think we all know that it will be another month before this happens. Funny thing is most Verzion Reps aren't even aware of these updates... I guess they do not have internal email in which they can push memo's out to update their reps on device news. I think they still use the postal service [delivery by horses], or they're just blatantly lieing to our faces about this. I'm going to go with blatantly lieing considering the conversation I had with the Rep yesterday).

  • On my 5th replacement phone for the same exact problem each time

I would just like to first of all say that I am the least bit satisfied with Verizon Wireless. I know that this is not the scenario for every customer, but you guys have literally made having a cell phone really really difficult and really really depressing due to being phoneless constantly, awaiting for the next replacement.
I've had 4 replacement Incredible 2's, and I am currently awaiting my 5th replacement.
Each time I get one of these phones, the charge port stops working after a months use. The first couple of times I assumed it was my own fault that the charge port stopped working, now I am considering differently. For the past 2 replacements, I have gotten rid of my car charger and only charged my phone on my nightstand at night to ensure that I was not wiggling the charge port around. DESPITE this, the charger port STILL stopped working, and I am now phone less for the 5th time. And I've had 3 of these replacements in 3-4 months.
There have been 5 different occasions where I have had to inconveniently  rearrange my plans for the next few days according to the fact of me not having a phone because the phones you send me don't last more than a months time.
This time, I am having to put back a vacation that I was expecting to leave for tomorrow morning. My phone stopped charging last night, and I am now phoneless for the weekend until Verizon Wireless can ship me another phone Monday.
I should not have to deal with this kind of inconvenience if I am going to choose you as my wireless provider.
Especially not 5 different times for all the same reason when you as a company could of fixed this problem long ago by sending me a better phone. Verizon Wireless should honor their loyal paying customers. The only thing Verizon Wireless is doing for me right now is making my life difficult.
I want some sort of compensation or a resolve to this situation. I am beyond dissatisfied.

roadpup27, having multiple replacement devices is no fun! I'm sorry you have to endure this experience with your phone. I would like to help with your issue and ensure you that we do not anticipate our certified like new phones having issues. They go through a 100-point check and in most cases work just as well or better than a new phone because they have updated software. I hope your replacement phone works for you so that you do not miss any events or be delayed. Although we can not compensate you for your phone issues, we will continue to replace your phone until you have a working device if the phone is under warranty. Please keep us posted.

  • Mot Droid X2 dial pad snafu - same problem on 2nd replacement phone

I have have received two replacement phones in the last 5 days with the same problem as the original. When on a call and asked to input some numbers from the dial pad....like voicemail password, the dialer will take maybe one or two numbers and then take no more and black out. Can get it lighted again but cannot input the numbers,...like it is dead. Verizon might as well remove voicemail from its services. Serious issue. Phone is running Android 2.3.4.and System version1.3.380 MB870 Anyone else have this problem???

I thought this may be the case. There are a lot of apps where if you look at the permissions of the applications, it has full access to phone calls. It's really hard to tell if it's like a bad concoction of apps or if it's one app in particular.  What I would recommend is downloading a dialer application.  Just search for "Dialer" in the Market, and you should see plenty of them that have great reviews.  Give 1 or 2 a shot and see if that helps the issue any. Just an idea. Maybe the only thing affected is the stock dialer.
The other option is to of course master reset and add apps slowly one by one to try and figure out which is the culprit. That is tedious, and may not give you a definitive answer in my opinion.
Post your results if you have some time.

  • If you have a replacement phone will your saved voice mails still be there?

If you have a replacement phone will your saved voice mails still be there?

Voicemail is saved on Verizon's server, so unless you change your phone number, your voicemail will be available after changing phones.
The only exception is moving to or from an iPhone - it uses a different system.  If iPhones are not involved, or you move from one iPhone to another, messages should be intact.

  • Problems with replacement phone and out of warranty

Had to replace first iphone 5 due to software issues now second phone will can not adjust volume down.  Also when making phone call and trying to hang up have use button on top right outside to get back into screen if other caller does not hang up.  No I do not have a screen protector.  Took to 2 different apple store locations and no help whatsoever.  Called apple and pretty much the same luck.  I would not be complaining if this wasn't already a replacement phone and the condition of phone is mint.  I have purchased every iphone since the 3g and also have macbook pro recently purchased and I am not happy I am getting no help.   Do not feel I should have to pay 270 for a replacement phone when I spent 400+ on brand new phone and have a broken replacment phone.  To be honest with how I have recieved no assistance and I am a loyal customer I may be looking elsewhere when I decide to upgrade.

Their "question" is a poll, or a survey, inviting the opinions of others. NOT a technical support question.
If you bother to actually READ the Terms of Use for these forums, you'll see that discussions of Apple policies, as well as polls and surveys are prohibited. My response is actualy the ONLY logical and relevant response they can get within the terms of service.
Do you expect Ford to just give you a new car when yours breaks down after the warranty expires? After all, you spent so much more for the car than you did for the phone!  Of course not!
Wake up. This is how the real world works.

  • Many syncing and e-mail problems.

Hi folks, lots of syncing and e-mail problems here:
Syncing: My phone won't sync iCal (it tells me my phone is disconnected), my safari bookmarks or my email accounts. I've been through the threads here, tried resetting iSync, tried deleting calendars and resetting to 10 days instead of 30 -- still no luck. For e-mail, initially iTunes saw the e-mail accounts but did not sync theml. I tried the one-time advance settings and now it's not even seeing the accounts and still not syncing them. and for Safari, no luck with the bookmarks at all even thought the check-box is checked.
Also, the iPhone won't receive e-mail from any of my POP accounts, even the one I set by hand (because none of the settings synced.) I used the same settings that I have on my desktop, but no luck. I use RoadRunner, so I know I can't send off it. But I went to the genius bar today and they told me to just leave the SMTP server field blank and I should be able to receive, but all I get on wi-fi and edge is a message that says, "Cannot Get Mail, the connection to the server "pop-xxxxxx etc" failed." even on my home netowrk, with five bars, it can't seem to connect. (btw, it does seem to be working properly on my .Mac account, but I don't use that account for most of my correspondence.)
As far as the sync problems, the genius bar told me to reinstall iTunes, which I did with the new update that just came out this evening. Still no luck.
any thoughts? bum phone? some setting I'm not catching? any help would be appreciated.

    Quad G5   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

You will find the iPhone will freak out over any kind of perceived data corruption. Calendars seem to the worst for this (windows or mac)
Test in a new user and try sending info in each direction. If it works - then your phone works fine.
Other users have reported having to basically copy the contents of their calendars into a sticky or text edit window. delete the calendars and create brand new ones. they then just transfer the data back.

  • I have an issue with my iphone touch screen not responding, apple replaced phone and still having same issue. They say its software, what can I do I need my phone to work

Touch screen on Iphone slowly, over a few days stopped responding. Went to Genius Bar and was given a new 3GS because they didn't know how to fix the issue. Cool. Went home synced with Macbook Pro (new-12/2010), two days later same issue. This time when I went to Genius Bar they restored the phone to factory settings and instructed me to load as a new phone in Itunes instead of restoring information of the previous phone, which is an option good for when your replacing phone not fixing one Anywho, did everything they told me to do. SAME ISSUE A FEW DAYS LATER. This time I was told the software issue is with my Macbook and I thought this made sense, so I took it in along with the phone. That was yesterday. Phone working intermittently since leaving Apple. I was given instructions that if their "daily" fix didn't work to erase hard-drive and reinstall software that came with the macbook and start fresh. This would definately fix the issue. Extreme yes, but I need use of my phone, especially since we got rid of the house phone and all use cell phones. So last night I did the required erase of hard-drive and re-loaded all software that came with it and Microsoft Office for Mac. Plugged in the phone to set up in itunes and thought that was it. My phone is still not working. Can't answer when I try, can't make calls, etc. What the heck do I do? I'm starting to feel like a major lamo having to keep going back to Genius Bar, but I know enough to know these issues should have been resolved with the steps I've taken. I even went as far as to restore through my husbands computer and same thing. Could there be a problem with Itunes? Could the magnetic stripe in my debit card be hurting the device somehow, although that's a long shot since I have had the same or similar case since getting the phone. Frustrated beyond belief. Apple support not open at this hour so I'm trying my luck here.....
    Thanks for any input.

restore iPhone as new and start again

I just got my replacement phone from Warranty. The phone was on for just 2 hours and it crashed. I was told that motorola knows about this "possible" issue. I got a new sim, hard reset, If it can be done I did it. They are now sending me the same phone again. Number 3. I would hope this one doesn't crash but I rather have a different phone so I can enjoy using my account. The phone's most recent error was today. " Unfortunately, the process com.motorola.widget.circlewidget3d" has stopped. At least the error message works and it's polite. I told tech this and they could not answer my question or help me other then "let's do a hard reset" My warranty replacement is coming on Monday. Let's hope this one works. Anyone else havinbg the same problem. it says "such and such as stop working" on all sorts of stuff! Help! I want my iPhone Back!

I just did a google search on this issue. OMG, I got a ton of videos on this or similar issues. Each one says in some way to clear the cache, reset the data, etc. Why in the world would this continue to happen and they not do a fix that resloves this without having to lose or stop what your doing. This is a very long and constant issue it seems with Android phones as there must have been pages and pages of what I now call "Unfortunately"  So I am going to pray that Verizon helps me  out and gets me away from this issue and helps me go back to iPhone or try the Samsung.

  • E71 E-Mail Key and Related Mail Problems

Since my E71 was updated to the latest firmware (at a Nokia Service Center) around 6 months ago I have had a number of odd mail problems, which manifest themselves as follows:
After an initial boot everything with mail and messaging works fine as expected. However at least once or twice a day the phone switches unpredictably into an odd mode with the following symptoms:
      1) E-Mail key stops responding to short or long presses.
      2) New e-mails and sms messages which arrive do not appear on the home screen as usual, though they may (or may not) appear as small icons in the top right corner of the screen.
      3) For new e-mails only the title/header is downloaded, whereas usually I have it set to automatically download the first 2 K of each message.
      4) New messages still appear as 'unread' even after reading them. Manually setting them to 'read' works, but only after a long delay.
      5) The flashing navigation key light which warns of new messages/mails gets stuck in flashing mode and will not stop until the phone is rebooted.
Problems 1-3 occur every time, and 4&5 occasionally, but all can only be cured by rebooting the phone, after which it works fine again - for a while.
Since I first saw this problem I have updated the firmware twice (it is currently on the latest version), but the problem persists. I wonder if anyone has seen this problem or has any idea how to fix it? It's a great irritation with an otherwise excellent phone, especially since it was all working fine when I first purchased it. Thanks for any comments or suggestions

For anyone who is interested, I've found the answer to my own question, though not the solution to my problem. After several days playing with mail settings I noticed that when Retrieval settings > E-mail to retrieve is set to 'Headers only' or ' Msgs & attachs', there is no problem. However, if it is set to 'Size limit' with a setting of say 2K or 5K (i.e. just enough to capture the first few important paragraphs of any message) then receipt of many types of formatted mails larger than the specified size causes the mail program to crash, and the OS to switch into the odd mode described in my earlier post.
This is particularly irritating since I travel frequently overseas in Asia where roaming GSM data use is expensive (and there are no caps or limits on roaming fees), and due to the nature of my work my e-mails typically come with long threads and large attachments. Therefore I am left with the choice between:
         A) Downloading mail headers only and waiting till I can find a WiFi connection to find out what the message actually says
         B) Downloading the whole message and paying many hundreds of dollars a month in data roaming fees
         C) Using the fixed mail size limit setting and accept that my mail program will crash several times a day and
require the phone to be rebooted each time to restore normal functionality
Anyway, it seem this problem is clearly due a bug with the Nokia mail software in recent builds, since it worked fine with these exact same settings for the first year I had the phone, and repeated clean re-installs of the latest firmware do not fix the problem. Therefore, if any Nokia developers are monitoring this board you can add this to your bug list, and you know where to start looking for the bad bit of code.

  • I am very dissatisfied with the replacement phone. How do I get help?

We purchased a casio phone, there was issues with it, and I was sent to the warranty center. They were very courteous with sending a replacement phone..but the problem was, they replaced it with a phone that was in no way comparable to the one we bought originally.  It was one of the cheap Samsung 'free phones".  I called back.  They no longer had our phone in stock, and this was (as they said ) the best they could do.  I was instructed to call at a later date to see if this Casio phone was back in stock.  I did, and no, they still dont have it.  The lady I spoke to said that she would call me back after speaking to her manager, and another week has gone by and no return phone call.  Where do I go from here?  I'm Not paying a large amount to buy another Casio phone.  I chose this particular phone because of the military rugged standard, and paid a lot of money for it.  What good does the warranty fee do if I cant use it to get one the same value as the one that was defective?

This sounds as if it were an insurance replacement rather than a warranty replacement. There is no "fee" for the warranty on your phone. Insurance thru Assurion, on the other hand has a monthly fee associated with it.
Unfortunately, Assurion does not guarantee the same phone you have when you get a replacement. If they have one in stock when making the replacement, yes, but that is not always the case. If you want the phone you returned replaced with an identical phone, you may be waiting for a long time.
I can't think of anything else you can do except to keep calling and checking to see if they have one of your model phones in stock.
    Good luck.

  • I just received my replacement phone and I don't have my old sim card, how do I active it?

I just received my replacement phone and I don't have my old sim card, how do I active it?

If it did not come with a SIM card pre-installed, you can get one free at any Verizon corporate store, or call CS and they can mail you one.  800-922-0204.

  • Replacement iPhone restore problems - only a very old backup

My partner lost her iPhone 4 and just purchased an iPhone 4S - she didn't want the new 5s (size). When she went to do a backup from her computer the most recent restore option is more than 18 months ago. She doesn't do frequent sync to iTunes but she has definitely sync her iPhone 4 this year on more than a few occasions. I had this problem (not this extreme) when swapping iPhones , recent sync is not in the list .
Can anyone shed some light on this?

Have her update her phone and try again.  If the replacement phone is running a lower version of iOS than the one she backed up, the backup will not be shown when she attempts to restor it.  (She can check the iOS version by going to Settings>Ganeral>About>Version.)  Updating will update it to iOS 7.0.2.
