Replacement iPhone4 from apple should be locked or unlocked?

I have an AT&T locked iPhone 4(Out of Contract June'11). I found some yellow spots & home button issues, took it to the apple store. Apple agreed to give a new Handset.
My question is, this new set will still be AT&T locked or completely unlocked one since its a new set from Apple and its no more under contract?

You will get a like-for-like exchange under warranty. If your current phone is carrier locked to AT&T, your replacement phone will be carrier locked to AT&T. If you do an out of warranty replacement, you will still get an iPhone locked to AT&T. If you want an officially unlocked iPhone, you will have to purchase such separately.

  • Replacement iphone4 from apple store locked or unlocked?

I just went to apple store and get the replacement iphone4 from apple store, and my old iphone4 was unlocked, so the replacement iphone4 that apple gave me is locked or unlocked?

If the iPhone has, subsequent to the original purchase, been legitimately unlocked (as happens in UK )by the carrier, then a replacement either as a warranty or out of warranty will be unlocked as long as the transaction is carried out in original country.
However make sure the Genius is clearly aware that the iPhone is unlocked
I have replaced an iPhone4 in warranty and replacement was correctly locked whilst a 3G was unlocked by O2 and the out of warranty replacement was correctly unlocked

Warranty on iPhone is not international, but valid only in country of
original sale. Since you purchased the iPhone in Australia, your warranty
is valid only in Australia. You must either personally return the iPhone
to Australia for evaluation and possible replacement or sent it to someone
in Australia to take into Apple for the evaluation. Apple will not accept
international shipments for repair nor will Apple ship out of the country
    after replacement.
Sorry to be the bearer of this news, but it is the way iPhone warranty and
    replacement has always worked.

  • My Iphone4 replaced by iphone4s from Apple!?

    Hey guys
I wanted to know if anyone else has had thier iphone4 replaced by iphone4S from Apple!!?
I have had too many problems with my iphone4 an got it replaced 4 times from apple store in manchester, but each time there was a problem with the phone!!
So i had enough and called iphone uk apple care line yesterday, women down the phone said i can only reccommend just to go store and get it replaced, unless you want to talk to a senior collegue an make a complaint!! An i did!!!
The 2nd women offered me a brand new iphone 4s with one year warrenty!!
So she told me that she will send me the new phone deliverd an i will have to send my old phone back to them, ( therefore took my bank card details) just incase they think i dont return my old phone.
But i just hope this new iphone4s is better than iphone4 an i dont have the same problems!!
Ps, 00800<was the phone code number! Is that US!?

Did you ask for an unlocked iphone?
    What does the receipt say?

  • Will an iphone 4 that was originally purchased from apple directly as a factory unlocked phone remain unlocked or will it have now locked to the network it was used on. I've been told by carphone warehouse that the iphone will lock to first sim used in it

Will an iphone 4 that was originally purchased from apple directly as a factory unlocked phone remain unlocked or will it have now locked to the network it was used on. I've been told by carphone warehouse that the iphone will lock to first sim used in it (in this case Orange) and will need to be unlocked again. Just wanted the view of anybody who knows about this for sure. Thanks

If you bought it directly from Apple as unlocked it should be unlocked for all networks. There are phones sold that WILL lock to the first carrier it is used with, but this does not apply to phones where the receipt says "unlocked".
I have not had good experiences with Carphone Warehouse.

  • I have recently purchase a iphone4 from market but its lock from at

I have recently purchase a iphone4 from market but its lock from at&t can I unlock the same because its useless for me and also my money also waste for the same
i can got unlock code from apple if its
Chargeable so I am ready to pay

Only the carrier can unlock it.  AT&T will not unlock an iPhone.  You need to return your iPhone and buy an unlocked one.

Can you clarify your problem? Are you having trouble restoring your new iPhone from a previous phone's backup? Or are you having trouble logging into iMessage?

Your profile says you have 10.6, so why bother with the original 10.5 OS?
But to your question, before you erase anything, make a backup of your data for safe keeping and restoration. Having an external hard drive for this purpose is most useful.

  • HT201269 I am not finding my backup of my Iphone 5 that I backed up in itunes. I need to put the old information on my replaced phone from Apple care.

I am not finding my backup of my Iphone 5 that I backed up in itunes. I need to put the old information on my replaced phone from Apple care.

the itunes back up can be found in preferences/devices on ur itunes
the preferences can be reached by going to:
    windows pc: edit/preferences
    mac pc: itunes/preferences
check ur icloud as well in case u had the 'back up to icloud' option checked instead of the 'to this computer' option when u backed it up to ur itunes.
if neither of those have ur back up then ur back up is not in that pc and not in ur icloud for that apple id. it might be somewhere else (another pc maybe) or it doesnt actually exist.

  • Replacement phone from apple?

I just got a replacement phone from apple under warranty, do you think it would be brand new or a reconditioned?
    Thanks.

Usually you can't tell the difference, they seem double check the refurbished ones, just to make sure they don't come back

  • Can i get referral from apple for the repair of unlocked iphone?

Is it possible to get referral from Apple (HK) to repair my unlocked iphone in the Philippines? the unit was originally purchased from HK and brought to the Philippines, but it encountered hardware problem, I am thinking that it is cheaper if the repair will done here. But only the two major telecoms here are doing the repair, neither of the authorized resellers and service centers of apple here are repairing iphones.

Apple's warranty is NOT worldwide.  To get warranty service on an iPhone you need to bring it in to the country of purchase.

  • Are replacement phones from apple unlocked?

Apple supplied me with new phone  but it is locked - do apple need to unlock please? I have contacted my provider (EE) who I am leaving but they have said as apple gave me a replacement phone they don't need to unlock as they didn't supply and that it should have been supplied unlocked - I have changed providers as had lots of problems with EE and when I put the o2 sim in it says it is locked? Any help would be appreciated. thank you

Usually unlocking the phone is done by the provider, who informs Apple to update their data, that this  certain phone can be unlocked through iTunes.
If your original phone has been unlocked by the carrier before, he has to notify Apple that your replacement should be unlocked as well.
If you contacted Apple Support to replace the phone? I had to replace mine once and got an email from Apple stating the IMEI and serial number of my old phone and the ones from the new replacement, so that I could pass this info on to my carrier, to get the new device unlocked as well.

  • Problem restoring my replacement iPhone4 from previous iPhone4

I just got my replacement iPhone4 back after totally destroying my previous one.  I had backed up the old one but when I try to restore, I now get a strange command that "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes"
Now, I cannot do anything except go to Restore to its original settings which I will not do. I just want it to restore from the backup.
    Any suggestions
    David

You can't restore your backup until the replacement iPhone has been reloaded with the basic firmware. This should have already been done before you got the replacement!
You can also go into iTunes and restore the iPhone to it's original settings, most likely you don't currently have a copy of the iOS 4 firmware so you will need to download it. Make sure that you download the same version that you had on your previous iPhone 4 so that you can then restore your previous backup after it reboots.
Where did you get the replacement? If it was the Apple store, just return it and they will swap it out or reload a base iOS4 so that you can then just connect to iTunes and restore your backup.

  • My replacement 4S from Apple won't activate ?

I purchased my original 4S from Craig's List last year and it was running on FIDO. Last week it developed a problem with it's wireless antenna and I replaced it using Apple's OOW service for $200.- + taxes. Now the replacement phone won't activate on FIDO and I was told that it is probably locked to another carrier ? Why would that be the case when I have paid for a new phone ? So should I return it to Apple and get my money back as I now have a $200 paperweight. The whole thing is quite stupid and illogical and I can honestly say it's the last Apple product I buy. It's all such a pain it is simply not worth the time.

First off who told you it was locked to another carrier and secondly what did Apple say when you contacted them about the problem?

  • RESULT - Free Replacement Battery from Apple UK

    Hi to All,
Like a lot of you I had problems with my battery. I noticed earlier this year my MBP would power-off when there was still lots of battery charge left. It gradually got worse and worse. A few months ago I noticed whenever I pulled the power cord out it would switch off and recently I can only use it when it's plugged in.
I read about the battery problems online, and on this forum. I discovered it was a very common problem. I had assumed there was nothing I could do other than buy a new battery, but after reading posts from some of you who have had success getting a replacement one I thought I'd call Apple. Nothing to lose other than cost of phone call. To be honest I wasn't expecting to get any joy as I bought my MBP in May 2006.
I spoke to a overly-friendly guy in Bangalore who kept saying "Don't worry, don't worry. I will sort this out for you". He took my details and serial number etc.. then kept putting me on hold as he spoke to his 'supervisor'. After 15 mins he explained that my battery's serial no. is one that qualified for the replacement programme - but that only applied up to 2 years after purchase. As mine is 30 months old, he had to do some arm twisting and they made an exception for me. He transferred me to a woman in Scotland who gave me a case number etc.. She then passed me onto a dispatch guy.
After 20 mins on the phone my free replacement battery is on it's way. Not sure if I've just been very lucky on this occasion, but I would recommend calling Apple Support wherever you are, before going ahead and forking out for a new battery.

Hmm... Newer Technologies' reseller list includes OWC/esales but they
are not the same; one is a reseller and the other is a manufacturer. A
few product names at OWC are not seen anywhere else unless you look
real hard, but Newer Tech and NuPower can be bought direct from Newer
Technologies online; and a reseller could contact them to carry their stuff.
In any event, if just the plastic is mal-formed, and the section not fitting up
is just a layer of white plastic, that'd be comparatively easy to change. If
nothing else, Apple should have a shorter waiting list on replacement cells
now the recall numbers have been going out to customers. I got mine after
about a two month wait; and after all that waiting, I've gotten over the need
    to use a portable computer. It just sits there and I have to hassle with it;
to keep it charged up and up to date. With winter here, I don't carry it while
travelling anywhere, it'd freeze too easily over the distances I have to go!
Did Newer Tech offer to refund monies and take back these odd batteries?
Have you contacted other battery sales sources for comparative products?
The quality and support plus warranty (and fit, finish, compatibility)
    are all important details.
Some cheap replacements could be dangerous and not suited for use in
the iBook or PowerBook they are intended to replace. I see some at
places like amazon afiliate stores, and wonder what they really are inside.
