Replacement of history.go(-1)

i have 2 screens. in the second screent i put history.go(-1) then it comes to first screen. But if you do any operations in the first screen means selecting any option etc. if you go to second screen and if you click back button(put history.go(-1)) it is coming to 2 screens back. Means it is coming first screen without any data. Please tell me what i want to use instead of history.go(-1) in this scenario.

Means it is coming first screen without any data.And what was the state of the first page when you opened it? It was empty wasn't it? So why would you expect anything different when you go back in the history of your pages?
If you want to keep the submitted data, you will need to use the session to store the data so your page can read it back. Either that or store the information in hidden inputs in your second page and then submit back to the first page.

Single-url model, replacing browser history entries

Hi Guys
Is there any way of indicating to the browser, via a header, that a returned page is not to be added to the history array? I realise that I could use the "location.replace" approach but this would require extensive rework of the application and I'd rather avoid that.
Essentially, when a user has accessed the same url multiple times I would like only the most recent access to be available in the history object and hence from the back button. I searched this forum but I couldn't find anything quite like this but feel free to point me at a similar thread.

I've done some more investigation now and I am satisfied that there is no way to achieve this other than via a client-side script using the location.replace(). However, I've yet to get this to work...

Suggestion list under URL bar not showing history/bookmarks

Yes, the Location bar setting is set to "History and Bookmarks". Yes, I have tried safe mode without any success.
Are there any other troubleshooting methods? Only like 2-3 websites show up and they never change. Auto-complete seems to work just fine, and my history is being recorded correctly if I hit CTRL-H.

Very strange!
You might have some Extensions which could be affecting your Awesomebar. For example, the DuckDuckGo addon will replace your history and bookmarks with search results instead.
Could you please click the [[Image:New Fx Menu]] button, click addons, and once the Addon Manager has loaded, click Extensions? This will show you a full list of the extensions you've got installed - could you please let us know what they are?
If it's not an extension causing it, then it would be worth [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems|resetting FIrefox]]. Resetting will give you a fresh start and should solve the problem. All your cookies, history, bookmarks and saved passwords will be kept.

Deny history.back in IE

Hi everybod!
Could you help me, I try to deny the user to go back, to make some kind of a one way session. I already tried to set the header that the page will not be cached but I think IE ignores that!
Does anybody know what to do??

The replace method replaces the current History entry with the specified URL. After calling the replace method, you cannot navigate back to the previous URL using the browser's Back button.

Restore Safari History Help!

I have tried to restore a previous Safari history from my Time Machine backup by replacing the history.plist file in my home folder ~Library/Safari/history.plist. I quit Safari, replace the file from my Time Machine backup and even log out and log back in. However, when I restart Safari (v.3.2.1) my old history isn't there! Any suggestions?

The file I was restoring did contain the earlier history file. It turns out that the problem was that my Safari preferences (under the "General" tab) were set to remove history items after one month. When trying to restore history older than a month, they were being automatically deleted by Safari! Problem solved with a bit of help from Apple Technical Support.
I would recommend that anyone who is trying to restore an old Safari browser history from a Time Machine backup add one additional step - set Safari 'remove history items' preference to 'manually' before quitting Safari. Then restoring the older history.plist file to the ~user/library/Safari folder and restarting Safari will restore the older history files. Worked for me.

KDE does not load completely

This problem is present since about the release of 4.11 of KDE. Howerver usually 1 reboot is enough, and everything works fine again.
But today i had to restart my system 5x till finally everything is working fine.
The Problem: KDE loads only the network-applet on the systray (kmix and clipper are not visible) and it takes around 10 seconds till i can launch the kickoff-menu. After that i get a warning about my one autostart-programm, which is obviously running, and if i really want to try to run in twice. (Btw, if i choose no, then it is not loaded, which is kind of strange too). I am not able to use the reboot/shutdown option in the kickoff-menu. Dolphin or other apps seems to load fine. Only solution for me so far is to reboot the system.

In CV01n when we upload any excel file data the data get save in SAP system. Now suppose if we delete the particular excel file data or replace the data then can the system show us the delete or replace file history, so that the changes made can be catched.
I required this because in our company labels artwork are uploaded by QC department in PDF form in CV01n and our label department print the labels by taking labels artwork display from CV03n.
But in some case if the labels are got rejected due to some mistake from our QC department then the changes made by our QC department can't get identified by our label department. Our QC department say that we have not made any changes in labels artwork the labels got rejected because the labels department didn't followed the correct artwork which was available in SAP system.
Please provide your solution to this or suggest some other reliable system for proper system.

Hi Phalgun,
You may utilize the 'Content Version' feature in DMS to track all the versions/changes to an original file.Search the forum for detailed information on Content Version concept.
You label department may use the latest version for print and the previous versions to track changes.
P.S For effective monitoring,you may also want to look at enabling the 'Change Status' field in the Document Type and 'Field Selection' field for all statuses for the Document Type so that the QC dept would have to mandatorily change the status and log appropriate comments while making changes to the DIR/file/s.

Visudo internal error

I just decided to go in and change one of the configurations of the /etc/sudoers file, but running the appropriate commands to access the file returns the following error:
[name@Arch ~]$ sudo VISUAL="/usr/bin/nano -p -X" visudo
visudo: internal error, tried to emalloc2(0)
A search of the Arch forums did not turn up any other accounts of this error, and the Google results are equally sparse. The best discussion of the problem I found was on this site attributing the error to "the getgroups function always returns 0" and suggests fixing it in sudo 1.7.x with a patch. Since the most current version is sudo 1.8.7, I don't think this applies anymore, though.
I am stumped at how I got the error in the first place or how to fix it so I can safely change the sudo configurations. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I can easily use either vim or nano by setting them as the editor in visudo:

Work Item - Step History - Message: Reserved work item replaced ??

Hello all,
I am currently trying to understand what went wrong with one of our WF. When I look at the "technical log" of the WF and I select one specific step, I see the following messages under the STEP HISTORY tab:
Dialog work item created - No Errors - JOHN - 06.05.2010 - 16:17:17
Execution started automatically - No Errors - JOHN - 06.05.2010 - 16:17:17
Reserved work item replaced - No Errors - JOHN - 06.05.2010 - 16:19:01
Agent determination for step '0000000001' failed - PAUL - 06.05.2010 - 16:19:11
I am trying to understand what caused the 3rd message (Reserved work item replaced) to be added the log.
Anyone knows the answer ?
PS: I know what caused the RED message about agent determination.

Since replacing hard drive, "restore previous session" button doesn't work, can only do it through history tab. Also will not start up from task bar icon.

Hi, been using Firefox for some years, had to replace hard drive recently and re loaded Firefox. Since then, the restore previous session button doesn't work, but I can do it from the History tab. Also Firefox itself won't start from the task bar or desktop, only the start menu.

Replace layer from history feature.

Here's a little thing I've been missing - the ability to replace a layer, with the active history step easily.
As an example lets say you have an adjustment layer, which you recently modified. You compare it with the original snapshot, the one created when you open the file, and you say 'hang on what I did this session looks like complete rubbish, I want to replace it with the layer from the snapshot quickly'. A control click and the option to choose "Replace Layer From History" would be a quick way to do this. This would of course work with any layer.
I'm of course aware that there is a workaround where you can create a new document from any snapshot, and then drag to replace and delete the old layer - but this one click method would be much appreciated.

• I guess mode conversions would require an automatic or warned conversion for pixel layers.
• No mode conversion can be done retaining adjustment layers so I'm not sure how that would be a problem, because there would be no current layers in the file that relate to the history state.
Maybe if you convert the mode the whole operation just becomes impossible/ grayed out?
• Layer oganization - hmm I guess thats one which I hadn't considered. I assume history states must have 'identifiers' attached to each layer, othewise the history brush wouldn't work. So relacing an entire layer with history, similar to paste with history, shouldnt be that difficult unless I'm missing something.
