Repoint Audit database in BO XI 3.1 SP3 running on Solaris Server

Hi,
We need to repoint to new Audit database in Solaris server which is running BO XI 3.1 SP3 .What steps we need to follow to do that? Do we require root privileges for that?
Really appreciate your the help
Regards,
Anshuman

Hi,
you can repoint the Audit DB but you cant move the content of the Audit DB with BO functions. If you want to move the content aswell you have to use DB functions for that. The process would look like:
1. Create the new DB
2. Create the connection to the new DB on the BOE Host
3. Run cmsdbsetup.sh to point the Audit DB to the new DB
4. Import the Audit Universe and configure the Universe connection to point to the new DB

  • Can we change Audit Database

Is there any way to reconfigure audit database in SAP 4.0 and I m using SQL Server 2008 as my database. i just want to change Audit database in same Sql Server because by mistake i choose different database in ODBC connection.

    Yes It is possible.
    Go to CMC>Auditing
    Under Configuration>ADS Database
Connection Name: Give a new connection name
    Type: Microsoft SQL Server
User Name: your SQL server user name and password.
Save the configuration and restart the SIA. It will show such a status as displayed below, if configuration is success.

  • Problem with upgrade due to no connection to audit database

    Hello everyone!
Today after work I wanted to finally upgrade ZCM but run into some problems.
We have three servers: Two primary servers and one database-server (OEM Sybase SQL Anywhere). All three are running on SLES 11.
I want to upgrade our ZCM11.2.4MU1 to ZCM11.3a and then to 11.3.1.
I started by upgrading the Sybase database and running dbunload according to the documentation.
Then I continued with "sh install.sh -c" and chose "Audit Database". I selected the OEM Sybase SQL Anywhere with port 2639.
Admin, password and database-name were unique. But I made the mistake to set the servername to the same as the zenworks-database. *sigh*
    The installation completed.
The sybase-asa and sybase-audit-asa services couldn't run at the same time, therefore I rebooted the database-server and installed the audit database again with a unique database-name.
    Before the upgrade I could start dbisql and connect without problems to backup the database. Now I cannot connect anymore without using the additional parameter: links=tcpip{host=IPorDNSName,port=2638}
Connecting to the Audit Database via dbisql is not possible, with the following message:
    Code:
Could not connect to the database.
    Database server not found
Ensure that the name in the "Server name" field is spelled correctly, that the network options on the network tab are correct and that the database server has been started.
    [Sybase][ODBC Driver][SQL Anywhere]Database server not found
    SQLCODE=-100
    SQLSTATE=08001
    Connection parameters:

    DBN=zenworks_audit_database2
    LINKS=ShMem
    ENC=NONE
    links=tcpip{host=<ip>,port=2639}
With that said, it is not possible to upgrade the first primary server because the setup routine is also not possible to connect to the Audit Server:
    Code:
We were unable to create a connection to the database. Please check your
    connection information.
Specify the existing ZENworks database and database authentication information
for an existing user with sufficient permissions.
The services sybase-asa and sybase-audit-asa are both running. I also restarted them a couple of times.
    zenworks_database.conf and zenworks_database_audit.conf look fine.
Do you have any idea what I missed?
Is the duplicate servername still somewhere existend and prevents the proper running?
Thank you very much in advance for pointing me in any direction!

    Oh boy... and no backup?
Not sure how to get the sybase back working again... my first choice in
such a case would be to make a contact to Novell, are you able to
    create an SR on this?

  • Audit database. config auditing data source (DB2)

    Hello expert,
I want to enable audit database for Business Object and I has followed the admin guide but not work.
I install Business Object enterprise XI 3.1 on AIX 5.3 .
When I installed BO ,I choose 'Use an existing database'  and choose DB2. (The same database of SAP BW database)
And when the installation require the information of CMS and Audit database, I fill the same db alias as SAP BW database.
So now I has SAPBW , CMS and Audit  data in the same database.
After installation I saw the CMS table in "DB2<aliasName>"  schema.
But can not find the Audit table.
Does the audit table will create after installation?
Then I try to enable the audit database using cmsdbsetup.sh and I choose 'selectaudit' and fill in the information that it require.
Then it finish with no error.
"Select auditing data source was successful. Auditing Data Source setup finished."
But I still can not find any audit table in the database.
I run serverconfig.sh and I can't see the Enable Audit option when I choose 'modify a server'.
    Any idea?
    Thanks in advance.

And the CMS log file did not show any error.
    Additional detail:
    - My BW and BO are in the same server.
    - I already grant all the rights to the user who relate to audit database.
    - My BW and  BO are in the same database.
    - There is no audit table appear in the database.
    - No Fix pack installed.
I wonder why BO audit connection did not see my database.
(In case of DB2, I think the db2 alias name is the same name of the database name (as default).
So if my database name is BWD then the database alias name should be BWD, am I right?)
    Any idea?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Business Objects Audit Database

    Hi,
I am part of spport team. BO was installed just 2 yrs back, We have about 15,000+ plus user and growing fast.
Our current Audit DB is set up with main focus to monitor webi and CR. Due to large volume of data, ever 6 months we dump the audit data into our 'history database' (" would like to if there are any best practice for this "). We still are using same activity universe, but this affects our performance of audit reports. what is best appraoch to get most from our audit DB with optimum performance. Do you have any methodologies or suggestion. do we need to tweak the universe to perform better ? Would like to know the best practice to maintani the Audit database any though on this would be helpful. Have looked in BO admin guide chapter 14 "Audit Reports", this is only chapter which talks about Audit. i am looking for guide for maitainance and support for the audit DB, as our environment is gorwing need to have good reoprts on Audit informations to address our performance issues.
    Cheers,
    Srini

    Morning,
As you are probably aware the activity universe is not ideal for reporting.
For one of my previous clients we created a small data warehouse based on the audit data.
We stripped out all the data that wasn't needed and we completely denormalised the audit DB schema with 2 fact and 4 dimension tables. Where possible we calculated our measures in the data warehouse to improve reporting performance.
By following this approach you won't run into performance issues that quickly and you won't have  to archive data as frequently.
    I hope this helps.

  • Business Objects Auditing Database

    Hi,
Is there any way to filter events in the auditing database for a particular user, so that these events are not written to the audit database?
Also, in terms of the management of the auditing database, i.e. purging old data, truncating, setting constraints etc, are there any do's and dont's around this or is at the discretion of the dba?
    Thanks

    Benjamin:
Also, in terms of the management of the auditing database, i.e. purging old data, truncating, setting constraints etc, are there any do's and dont's around this or is at the discretion of the dba?
Purging or truncating data:  this requires understanding the data model.  There are two tables that are transactional in nature (audit_detail & audit_event).  If you delete data from one, then you should also delete data from other at or about the same time.  Here is an SQL statement for deleting (note, change the date values accordingly, this snip-it deletes all 2007 data...
    delete from audit_detail
      where audit_detail.event_id+server_cuid in (
         select event_id+server_cuid from audit_event
             where convert(char(11),start_timestamp,112)
           between '20070101' and '20071230')
    delete from audit_event where convert(char(11),start_timestamp,112)
           between '20070101' and '20071230'
Setting constraints:  I would not recommend doing this as BOE populates the two transactional data using its own methodolgies.  You shouldn't have trouble making the relationships work properly in any free-hand SQL you apply.  Even though integrity constraint is not enforced via PK/FK connections, BOE is tight with what it is doing...
    Thanks,
    John

  • Audit database on different devices?

We want to upgrade from 11.2.3 to 11.3.0a.
We are a small office with < 100 users. We have two primary servers and one satellite server off site. The primary servers are SLES 11 SP2 and use the embedded Sybase database.
In the upgrade documentation, under Prerequisites there is the following line that confuses me
(Recommendation) For server upgrade both OEM ZENworks database and Audit database cannot be present on the same device; different devices have to host the databases.
So, is it recommended to have the databases on different devices or required (cannot be present on the same device)? Does that mean I have to create a new server to host the audit database? What does this line mean exactly.
    Thank you for your help.

IMHO, It is non-sensical jibberish since the 11.3 Appliance is a single
    server that can do everything.
Furthermore, the recommendation is devoid of details or conditions as to
    be beyond pointless.
Let's argue that it was a "Performance Issue"..........
But what is both "Hosts" were both Virtual and on the same VM Host?
Clearly little would be gained and it may actually be a NEGATIVE with
    some other added overhead.
One thing to keep in mind, the Sybase Database in ZCM 11.3 is now a
64-bit Database so it can make use of MUCH more memory than the 11.2
    version.

  • Upgrade R2 to R3 (Same box) , with Audit database

    Hi Experts,
We do not have a new Production Server for new R3 installation.
We are going to upgrade the current R2 to R3 in the same box. (With AD as authentication).
We have turned on the Audit service as well. So we have2 databases -  CMS and Audit databases.
May I know what are the steps to perform this upgrade?
Can I use the same audit database? Or should I create a new audit database?
Do I need to turn off the audit feature before upgrading to R3?

The current environment is R2 with SP2...
We use Java Tomcat as web server,  Windows AD as authentication, SQL 2005 DB for CMS and Audit Databases.
Install R3 from scratch? So we will have both R2 and R3 in same machine?
In that case, I should get the DBA (we do not have rights to create DB) to create 2 empty databases (CMS and Audit) for R3...
Below are the steps I can think of,  to have 2 BO in one machine:
    1. Get the DBA to create 2 new databases
    2. Install R3
    3. Point CMS connection and Audit connection to the new databases
    4. Use the import wizard to import reports/users/universes.
Below are the steps for upgrading R3 (only one BO in one machine):
    1. Install R3
    2. Choose the option "Upgrade"
Did I miss out anything? Appreciate your advice. Thanks!

  • Controlling Auditing database (Datawise)

    Hi,
I am using BOXI R3.0, we have configured the auditing.
Is there a way we can control amount of data write in Audit database?
We need to configure such that it should keep only last 3 months data and it should remove prior data from Audit database.
Thanks for the help in advance.
    Thanks,
    Nimesh

This needs to be configured at database level, there is no such configuration at BO side.

  • BOBJ Audit Database disabled

    Dear All,
We installed BOBJ without audit database. The system detail as below:
    Product Version: BOE XI 3.1.
    Product Patches installed: SP3
    OS: AIX 5.3
    CMS DB: QO1 (DB2/AIX64 9.1.8)
    Audit DB: QA1 (DB2/AIX64 9.1.8)
    Authentication Type: SAP
Now we need to activate the audit database for our BOBJ systems.
We have successfully applied SAP note 1440647 for the same. But the audit database is still disabled in CMC.
We have tried some alternative and created new DB. But no success as yet.
Do you have any idea how this could be solved?
Appreciate your input / advice to resolve the issue.
If you need any clarification, kindly get back to me.
    With Regards,
    Uttam.

    Uttam,
You may want to try the [SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise/Edge, and SAP Crystal Reports Server Administration|BI Platform; forum for this one.

    Amr,
The best that I can determine, there is no official documentation from BusinessObjects regarding a method to "trim" the Auditor database.  Based on previous disucssions, I seem to remember that you are on XI R2, but if I'm wrong, then these notes will not apply to you.  Here is the scoop:
There are six tables used by Auditor: 1) APPLICATION_TYPE (initialized w/ 13 rows, does not "grow") 2) AUDIT_DETAIL (tracks activity at a granular level, grows) 3) AUDIT_EVENT (tracks activity at a granular level, grows) 4) DETAIL_TYPE (initialized w/ 28 rows, does not "grow") 5) EVENT_TYPE (initialized w/ 41 rows, does not "grow") 6) SERVER_PROCESS ( (initialized w/ 11 rows, does not "grow")
If you simply want to remove all audit data and start over, then truncate AUDIT_EVENT and AUDIT_DETAIL.
If you want to only remove rows based on a period, then consider that the two tables, AUDIT_DETAIL and AUDIT_EVENT, are transactional in nature, however, AUDIT_DETAIL is a child to the parent table AUDIT_EVENT, thus you will want to remove rows from AUDIT_DETAIL based on its link to AUDIT_EVENT before removing rows from AUDIT_EVENT first.  Otherwise, rows in AUDIT_DETAIL will get "orphaned" and never be of any use to you, and worse, you will not readily know how to ever delete these rows again.
    Here is the SQL statements:delete from AUDIT_DETAILwhere event_id =(select Event_ID from AUDIT_EVENT                  where Start_Timestamp between '1/1/2006' and '12/31/2006')godelete from AUDIT_EVENT                  where Start_Timestamp between '1/1/2006' and '12/31/2006'go
One word of caution is to down you BOE application before doing this maintenance work, otherwise there is a possibility that Auditor will be busy trying to bring new rows to your database while you're busy delete rows and you might encounter an unwanted table lock, either on the work you're doing or the work that BOE is trying to perform.
    Good luck!

  • CMS Audit database records purge

I was recently notified by our DBA that the size of our Audit database has surpassed the size of all other tables on the production (Oracle) schemas of the CMS.
Since audit is only a historical record of user and past report activities, most of it is no longer needed.
Is there any way to purge or limit the size or this database within Business Objects Enterprise?

There is no way to limit the size of the Audit DB from within BOE itself.
It is however possible to purge audit data the db itself. This is in SAP NOTE 1480761 - How to purge or cleanup old data from the BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 Audit Database.
NOTE that SAP does not support this.
    Best,
    Srinivas
