Report Designer missing 'group level' area - GUI problem?

Hi all -
I have a few questions here that I think are related, so I'm posting in one thread.
1)  As far as what I've been reading on, we can upgrade to BI 7.0 even with a front-end SapGUI 640 (patch 19).  True or False?
2)  One can <u>only</u> use Report Designer with SapGUI 710.  True or False?
And here's a long one...
3)  When you open Report Designer  should we see "Group Level" on the right-hand side (if it's checked to show)?  Mine (having sapgui 710 at patch 1) was showing just the ruler, but not the "Group Level" areas... is this a gui issue?  What's the fix?
[my history of GUI install:
Before upgrade:  Sap GUI 640 patch 8
After upgrade:  Installed NW4s BEx components only
(then getting dumps in the r3 back-end) so installed SAP GUI 710 from 50083078_4 cd.
Report Designer missing the group level areas... I thought, might as well install patch 01. But that did not help.]
Any input would be great!
Thanks guys (and girls!)!
Cheers...

I had a couple issues to 710 with the report designer. i didnt had anything similar to ur issue, but all my default and specifics of format catalog were blacked out and not allowing me to change that. I downgraded to 640 and everything works fine now. (I tried installing all possible latest and greatest on the GUI but nothing worked and it costed me a whole day to acknowledge the fact)

  • PSV3 Business Information Report - comparing at Group level and Type level

    Good afternoon folks
    I am getting some instances where the summation of the hours for the "Business Event Information" report for a specific business event, when I run it at Event Group level is incorrect; however when run at Event Type level it is correct.
    Eg: business event 50135548 has a schedule of 2 hours.
    When I run the Business Event Information report at event type level it shows 2 hours for this specific event; however when I run it at Event Group levle it shows 120 hours for this specific event.
    Can anybody suggest as to why this is happening.
    Many thanks
    Dawn

    You could do this like this, I think:
    If Sum ({@total}, {@monthName}) = 0 Then
        0
    Else
        Sum ({@Unscheduled}, {@monthName}) / Sum ({@total}, {@monthName}) * 100;

  • Can't merge cells in Report Designer

    Hi!
    I use Report Designer.
    I have 3 rows and 5 columns in the Header/Footer.
    I can't merge cells, for example cells from 2nd row, 2-4th columns.
    I need this format:
    AAA | BBB | DDD | EEE | FFF
    ssss | ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff | gggg
    aaaaa| nnnn | mmm | kkk
    What can I do?

    Hi,
        Actually you can merge the Cells in Header and Footer. Just that, I think you have older version of the Report Designer.
    In 7.10 GUI Release there is now an option to Merge and Unmerge Cells in Header and Footer.
    Please check the Report Designer Version from HELP about. It should be atleast 7.1 with Front End Patch level 5 and Above.
    I have the same Issue. My Version of RD which is for Release 2004s it does not work but on another machine with GUI 7.1 it works so check that out.
    Hope it helps.

  • Errors in Report Designer

    Hi,
    I am using the report designer for the first time and I am facing the following problems with it:
    1. When I insert a data provider (query) in the report designer, all the cells are blacked out. ie, i cannot see the contents in the cells. However, when I click on a single cell, the contents of the cell become visible.  When I execute it, I can see the results (all cell contents) fine. Not sure what is happening here.
    2. I am able to execute the report on portal but I am unable to generate any print version. When I click 'print version', a new window pops up but it remains blank. Same happens when I try (from the portal) send->export to excel. Are there any settings for PDF and excel that needs to be done?
    Thanks!

  • Custom rendering extensions not working in SSRS Report Designer (rsreportdesigner.config)

    My custom rendering extension is working in Report Builder (in RSReportServer.config), but not in Report Designer (in RSReportDesigner.config):  instead of adding a "TXT" export option, it's just adding a duplicate "CSV" option.
    SUMMARY:
    Is there a way to get these features working, with Report Designer?
    DETAILS:
    We are running SSRS (Reporting Services) under SQL Server 2008 R2.
    Here's my rendering section:
        <Render>
          <Extension Name="XML" Type="Microsoft.ReportingServices.Rendering.DataRenderer.XmlDataReport,Microsoft.ReportingServices.DataRendering" />
          <Extension Name="CSV" Type="Microsoft.ReportingServices.Rendering.DataRenderer.CsvReport,Microsoft.ReportingServices.DataRendering" />

          <Extension Name="TXT" Type="Microsoft.ReportingServices.Rendering.DataRenderer.CsvReport,Microsoft.ReportingServices.DataRendering">
            <OverrideNames>
                <Name Language="en-US">TXT(ASCII,NoColHds)</Name>
            </OverrideNames>
            <Configuration>
                 <DeviceInfo>
                     <FileExtension>txt</FileExtension>
                    <FieldDelimiter>,</FieldDelimiter>
                    <Encoding>ASCII</Encoding>
                    <NoHeader>true</NoHeader>
                </DeviceInfo>
            </Configuration>
          </Extension>
          <Extension Name="IMAGE" Type="Microsoft.ReportingServices.Rendering.ImageRenderer.ImageRenderer,Microsoft.ReportingServices.ImageRendering" />
          <Extension Name="PDF" Type="Microsoft.ReportingServices.Rendering.ImageRenderer.PDFRenderer,Microsoft.ReportingServices.ImageRendering" />
          <Extension Name="HTML4.0" Type="Microsoft.ReportingServices.Rendering.HtmlRenderer.Html40RenderingExtension,Microsoft.ReportingServices.HtmlRendering" Visible="false" />
          <Extension Name="MHTML" Type="Microsoft.ReportingServices.Rendering.HtmlRenderer.MHtmlRenderingExtension,Microsoft.ReportingServices.HtmlRendering" />
          <Extension Name="RPL" Type="Microsoft.ReportingServices.Rendering.RPLRendering.RPLRenderer,Microsoft.ReportingServices.RPLRendering" Visible="false" />
          <Extension Name="EXCEL" Type="Microsoft.ReportingServices.Rendering.ExcelRenderer.ExcelRenderer,Microsoft.ReportingServices.ExcelRendering" />
          <Extension Name="WORD" Type="Microsoft.ReportingServices.Rendering.WordRenderer.WordDocumentRenderer,Microsoft.ReportingServices.WordRendering" />
        </Render>
    When I add the above "TXT" section to RSReportServer.config, then Report Builder (and production) both show an export option "TXT(ASCII,NoColHds)".
    But when I add this "TXT" section to RSReportDesigner.config, and then (in Report Designer / BIDS) attempt to export from a "Preview" of the report, the export drop-down does not show a "CSV" option followed by a "TXT"
    option, but instead shows the "CSV" option twice.
    This simply limits testing of the export option, to Report Builder... or requires any reports be published from Report Designer before they can be tested with
    this export option.
    (FYI, why this export option:  compliance in our industry requires sending data to government agencies, in text files, with fixed-length columns, and ASCII encoding.  Also, we're attempting to give the production of these files to the *users* managing
    communication with those agencies... so we're putting them into SSRS.
    I worked around the fixed length columns (and no delimiters -- no commas), by writing a version of the report where all string columns are padded, and all columns are concatenated, to form ONE LONG COLUMN... but Reporting Services' CSV export format produces
    a Unicode file (UTF-8, which the agency rejected, because it had a leading "", or "EF BB BF" in hex), whereas the agency requires an ASCII file.)

    Hi Doug_atMidway,
    According to your description, you want to enable your custom render extension. Right?
    In Reporting Services, if you want to deploy the custom extension, you just need to add the extension into rsreportserver.config file.  The
    RSReportDesigner.config file stores settings about the rendering extensions available to Report Designer. Since you still use the csv rendering extension in your assembly, we don't need to do any modification in rsreportdesigner.config file. Pleaes
    refer to the links below:
    Thanks for attempting to help, Simon.
    As my question states, I've *already done* both the above:  changed (1) rsreportserver.config and (2) rsreportdesigner.config.  I added the same code, shown above, to both files.  I did that so I could see the new "txt" extension
    both (1) when exporting in production and Report Builder, and (2) when exporting in Report Designer's "preview".
    The change in (2) is not working:  I do not see the "TXT" extension in Report Designer, when I try to export from a preview.  Instead, Report Designer shows the CSV extension repeated.
    Thanks for the docs.  I consulted them (well, I consulted the EQUIVALENT pages, for SQL Server 2008 R2), when creating my block of code above.
    Do you see anything to correct, in my code?
    Are the features I'm using actually working, with rsreportdesigner.config?
    Thanks again,

    Hi Eugene,
    Thank you for posting in MSDN forum.
    Since this forum is discuss the VS test issue, so
    I’m afraid that it is not the correct forum for this issue.
    As you said that the report design grouping problem, I suggest you could try to consult this issue directly to the VS Report Controls forum:

  • SSRS Report - Group Totals are Zero when Group Row Hidden

    I have a report with one group called Counties. This group has a filter.
    I added code to produce the totals for Prior, Current and DistinctCount:

    Public Shared Dim CountyTotal1 as Decimal = 0

    Public Function GetCountyTotal3()
    Dim ret as Decimal = CountyTotal3
    CountyTotal3 = 0
      return ret

    When it runs, it gives me this:
    This works fine. But now I need to hide the details on the counties. I just need the line with the 15, 32 and the 9.
    I highlighted the group row, right clicked -> Row Visibility and changed it to Hide. But when I do this, my results are three zeros.
    I am at a loss now on how to just show the totals. Does anyone have any suggestions for me to try?
    cpemtp1

    Hi cpemtp1,
    Per my understanding that you just want to get the total display in the report and hidden the details, right?
    I have tested on my local environment and suggest you to create an new dataset and using the query below to get the Total of every country and then you can using the SUM() function to sum the total of all the country which meet the  conditions.
    Detail information below for your reference:
    Create an new dataset and using the query below to get the sum of every country meet the filter condition:
    Select a.PRIORYEAR,a.CUREENTYEAR ,a.Country from (select SUM(PRIORYEAR) as P1,SUM(CUREENTYEAR) as C1,Country
    from TableName
    group by Country) a
    where a.P1<=a.C1
    Create an new tablix under the button of the existing Tablix or you can just remove the old tablix as below
    Original Table:

    If you still have nay problem, please feel free to ask.

  • Create Group Tree option no longer available in report designer

    I am currently using Crystal Reports 2008 report designer to create reports which are embedded in our application.  We deploy a run time version of Crystal within our application.  In previous versions there was a report setting in the report designer to "Create Group Tree", this appears to no longer be available in Crystal 2008.  My question is... Is there a way to enable this option outside of the report designer?  Is there a setting that I am just missing?  This is causing an issue since I cannot upgrade existing reports to the 2008 version without losing the ability to display the group tree.   thanks

    CR 2008 only has a .NET Report engine now so I moved your post to the .NET SDK forum.
    I kind of recall this may have been and RDC API, there is no RDC in CR 2008 and the Embedded Designer is for use in the Visual Studio .NET IDE for creating reports only. No longer licensed to be used in an application nor can it be distributed. If you were using crpe32.dll it is no longer supported as of CR 9.
    Search here also, lots of posts on various how to's.
    Thank you

  • Standard Report for missing parts at production order operation level?

    Hi PP Gurus,
                We have standard report for missing parts at production orders level.
    For our client, they need a report for missing parts analysis at production order operation level. Do we have any such standard report in the SAP?
    Please help.
    Thanks,

    Hi Arvind,
          Thanks for for your response.
    1. List: Components,  Layout: Standard layout          set the Missing part
           It shows the component requirement/withdrawn  quantity for each operation of production order. It is not showing the commit quantity.
    2. List: Components,  Layout: Pick list          set the Missing part
           It shows the component requirement/withdrawn  quantity for each production order.
    3. List: Components,  Layout: Missing Parts List-Material View          set the Missing part
           It shows the component requirement/commit quantity for each production order. It is not showing the commit quantity at opertion level.
    4. List: Components,  Layout: Missing Parts List-Order View          set the Missing part
           It shows the component requirement/commit quantity for each production order. It is not showing the commit quantity at opertion level.
          We are unable to get the solution from all these 1 to 4 reports from COOIS.
    Do we have any option to change the existing layout (ex: 3 ) to get the commit quantity for operation with missing parts indicator?
    If avilable, what is the procedure to be followed?
    Thanks,

  • Different chart for each level hierarchy in report designer

    Is there a way to display a different chart for each level of the hierarchy in a report designer? I want a different chart for each level. That is, if there are 5 nodes in level 4, I want 5 different nodes. Is there a way to do this? I tried to insert the chart inside a cell in each level, but it shows the same chart for all nodes instead of a different chart for each node.

    Has any one tried using a context sensitive chart?  According to this, it seems like this should be possible, but I am having no luck.
