  • How do you REPORT Phishing Scams sending personal messages in these Forums?

I've looked high and low, and I have no idea how to report a user. Nor how to report Personal Messages of the following nature:
I first realized it WASN'T actually a Staff member after I saw current forum status as a regular "member", then was further clued in by the "English" used in the message body.
Why isn't there "Report as SPAM" and "Report PHISHING SCAM" options in the mailbox? Once you have been here for a while they are likely easy to spot, but it's obvious they are targeting those who just barely set up their accounts and are receiving other mail in the inbox automatically from the server.
Not sure if this will just be deleted but here is the abuser's information:
Avatar is a "Wrench" and this person then uses a "24 / 7" Image
Their NAME in the Message is: Support Analyst 24x7
    Their message was as follows:
    Hi!
We apologize for the inconvenience caused. One of our support specialist
will contact you soon please provide us your Skype ID and Telephone for
    further communication.
Note-To reply us go to your Email Account Inbox and reply us on the same email
    Thanks & Regards

Well, I did notice a report function, on "some" of the forum boards, as an available side bar tool. But I still have no idea where, or how, to report Personal Message Spam and Phishing scams..
As that is something that really bothers me, I guess I will move-on to other Forums and check back here from time to time to see if this has been addressed.

  • Reporting a scam

I received a chat from skype_coordinator20120 informing me I was a lucky winner on the Skype Lottery and should contact Mr. Philip Kenedy on [email protected] to see how I could receive my US$500,000.  I know this is a scam, and have blocked the address, but think Skype might want to take extra measures to stop this and block this user from Skype, period.

you can also report that user to [email protected]

Try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account (Store > View My Apple ID on iTunes 11) and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that app and use the 'Report a Problem' link and fill in details about the problem (iTunes support should reply within, I think, about 24 hours).
Some people have had a problem with the 'report a problem' link (it's been taking people to this site on a browser instead of showing a form in iTunes) - if it does that to you then try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page.

  • Where do I report a scam asking me for money to help a stranded friend?

I received an email claiming to be a friend vacationing on a Greek Island and saying they lost their wallet and asking me for help. I know it wasn't from my friend and want to report this. Does Firefox have a place to automatically report spam or fraudulent use of email or the internet? When I used AOL.com I could do that.

Firefox does not provide email service, who is your email provider? The must have a report spam button or similar.

  • I Yogi is a complete scam. I have had a problem with my mIPhone 4s and somehow diverted to IYogi who assured me that they could fix the problem if i paid £65.00 The problem was fixed and one month later I received a "No Service" message on my phone. I

I Yogi is a complete SCAM having already paid for 2 help calls £60 approx I once again had NO SERVICE on my IPhone 4s and was told by their operative that if I paid another £40 for one year cover this would include an upgrade to the IPhone mid August or September. I refused to agree to this and said I would report them to the National Press. Suddenly.... my service was restored. I now want my initial payment refunded and will stop at nothing to get this back.
What is happening here is this: Once you agree to pay for 2 help calls they then at some point disconnect your service and try to get money from you to reconnect. I will report this SCAM to the Media and hope that this SCAM CAN BE STOPPED.
I also blame Apple for allowing this to happen in the first place because when trying to access APPLE HELPLINE you are diverted to this I YOGI crowd of thieves and money grabbers who are operating under the mantle of Apple.
BEWARE.....ONCE YOU AGREE TO PAY YHEIR INITIAL FIRST 2 HELPS THEY THEN AT SOME POINT CAUSE YOU ANOTHER PROBLEM IN AN ATTEMPT TO GET MORE MONEY FROM YOU..... beware of this I YOGI THEY ARE SWINDLERS !!!!!

  • Phishing scams

Short story: I have no idea where I should go to report phishing scams specifically involving Verizon.
An hour ago I got a call (I have AT&T wireless service, not Verizon) telling me about "free $36 if you just enter your account information at this website", the website being verizon36.com
Thankfully, I know how phishing scams work, have the Web of Trust addon, and the NoScript addon, so I was pretty safe, but the call was from (800) 922-0204 - a number associated with Verizon - so the number was spoofed.
So, why would I want to bring this to Verizon's attention? I would assume they would have motivation to deal with the maliciously used possession of the domain "verizon36.com". (It was just registered yesterday, by the way, by someone in Santo Domingo. The whois: http://whois.domaintools.com/verizon36.com) If someone were to take the domain veriz0n.com, verizzon.com, verizonvireless.com, and start running phishing scams using the impersonating domain, I would assume they would be interested to know as well.
Essentially, I scoured the site for some place to report phishing scams targeting Verizon customers, and came up empty.

Verizon posts under Support / Announcements a number of notices about phishing scams that appear to be emails from Verizon.  Why can't the email servers detect these bogus emails and either block them at the server from making it to the user's accounts, or appending "POTENTIAL SCAM" to the email subject header.
I am sure that the actual original example shown are blocked, but the spammers keep find ways of disguising them so new version keep coming through.  Usually includes some pointers to servers they keep changing.

  • MobileMagic/SocMan/ImpulsePay scam

Hi  I was also scammed.  I went into a website that I trusted on my mobile and accidentally press a button on a pop up and realised my mistake that I quickly got out of it but was too late. I had no intention of entering any contest and there was no notice of a competition and there was definitely no notification of payment required. The only notification I got was when there was a receipt on my mobile for £6.  I frantically called the number (02035405938) all day Sunday and there was nobody there. I called again the next day and a belligerent East European who called herself Diana (talking about non existent customer service) answered the phone and told me there will be no refund. They obviously expected lots of unhappy people calling on the way their telephone system was set. (Press 1 if you are not happy, Press 2 if you accidentally press the number or words to the effect) Phoned EE customer service also the same response but better customer service but will try to block Impulse pay from charging in future. Sent an email to [email protected] and was told "We would suggest contacting PhonepayPlus if you're still disputing the charge." So I have contacted PhonePayPlus and Action for Fraud and gave them my details.

I was on googling on my mobile 13 May 15 when another screen appeared with a question & answer competition. There was no mention if any cost or prizes. Just 5 questions to answer mainly on geography. I answered these then noticed a tiny box on the screen had automatically been ticked saying I agree to be billed. I unticked this but it automatically became ticked again. I then got a receipt to say I had been billed £30 for answering 5 questions. I have reported to EE and had my phone blocked. Now I will report this scam to Ofcom and report to Police action fraud. This scam is provided by ImpulsePayand managed by ImpulsePay. Contact details:02035422815 or [email protected] phoned the number and spoked sounded like an east european woman who said there was nothing she could do.

  • Verizon 30 Scam --- Another Version of an old SCAM

    Hi everyone!
    Here's another SCAM alert!
I received 2 calls today (800-922-4444 and 800-922-3333) within 2 hours of each other.  Both giving a web address to claim a $30 Verizon credit.
    The website is www.verizon30.com
Be aware - this is a scam... Don't give go to the site and definitely don't give any information.
If anything ever sounds too good to be true - call Verizon directly before giving information.

Thanks for posting this. I found your post when I googled the url 30reward.com that was in a voicemail from 18009220204. Hope Verizon catches this, is there a fraud department for customers to report robocalling scams?

  • Telstra's Third Party Purchases SCAM

On my 03Dec-02Jan bill, I have been charged $65.25 for "Third party purchases"from "Openmarket Pty. Ltd." These charges were for me receiving 14 text messages from a company I did not know or request any service from. I have complained at my local Telstra shop and been told that the charges were linked to my "Premium SMS" service - a service I never requested from Telstra. I was also told that Telstra was simply forwarding these charges to me - and the shop manager had no reply when I pointed at the bill's letterhead and said that no one else was charging me money for unsolicited services. I have reported this scam to the Telecommunications Ombudsman (TIO) and also to my MP Lucy Wicks. I am appalled that Australia's national telecom provider should be an accomplice to this disgusting attempt to rippoff customers.  Please report here if you have also been subject to this scam.

Hi Alantun0I have just received my Telsytra Bill and there is a third party charge from Openmarket Pty Ltd for 16 Messages at a cost of $75.25. From the conversation with Telstra I beleive they are aware of this Company and the Scam it is operating but this was not directly admitted. However given the information I have found on the web they are aware of this scam. Tesltra's line of reply was that it must all be my fault. However I did not ask for these messages to be sent to me and I did not subscribe to them as was indirectly suggested. Telstra said they were only passing on the charge they had received from Openmarket Pty Ltd. I pointed out that if that was the case and it was nothing to do with Telstra and they were only passing on the charge there was no reason why they they could not remove the charge from may bill and ask Openmarket Pty Ltd to bill me direct. As you expected this logic received no reply from Telstra. Telstra are to call me tomorrow after aparently talking to Openmarket Pty Ltd. This is clearly a Scam that Telstra will have been aware of for some time and it would seem that they could have done something about by now. If no joy then I expect the next stage will be formal complains to Telstra, Openmarket Pty Ltd and the Ombudsman. If still not joy then we can only vote with our feet. Regards Chrispip.

  • App scam in progress or hacked developer account

    Hi all,
How do I report a scam in the App Store? Or it could be that an iTunes developer account was broken or hacked into. The app called "A True Level" has been priced around $2 for 90+ days. According to AppSniper, the app is on "sale" for $20 down from $100. in the iTunes App Store the price is currently $19.99. Either the developer is trying to pull a scan or their account has hacked into.
I do now see were to report a concern unless the app has been purchased. I'm trying to stop someone from getting ripped off. Hopefully, I've put enough buzzwords in this message to catch the eye of the forum moderators.
    Thanks!
    Steven

If you believe that the app is or has been mispriced, you should contact the developer:
    http://www.hamwayapps.com//Tip_Jar_%26_Truelevel.html
They can contact the App Store and work out the problem, if one exists. Note that they appear to have two versions, the full version and a "free" version which used to cost $2.99 but was dropped to free back in November, from what I've read. So there may be no "scam" going on, just some confusion between the now-free and paid versions.

  • Apple ID Scam

    Hello all,
I recently received an email notifying me that my App Store account had been frozen.  I had been having problems with my Apple ID (getting it to accept the password on different devices), so didn't think twice about taking steps to unfreezing the account.  That is, until the site prompted me to enter credit card information, which, starting to get suspicious, I did not do.
The initial email, which looks very similar to official Apple ID emails.
This page looks convincing, but you can't click on any of the links or tabs besides the form.  The following page asks for credit card name, number, and other information.
I tried to find an Apple Support email address to forward the initial email, but couldn't find an email option through the Support Center.  If Apple were to set up such an email address for reporting fraud, or, if it exists, making it more widely accessible, that would make reporting these scams much easier.
Hope this helps...do not fall for these scammers!

If you still have the email then you can forward it to Apple via this address : [email protected]
If you entered your account id and password, and if you haven't already done so, then you should change your password.

  • How does skype contact customers and how do you re...

    Hi
I recieved an IM from some one claiming to be from the "awards team" at skype, they are not on my contacts list and im 99 % sure its a scam since according to your privacy policy skype only contacts users via email, mobile or for gaining call quality information and the fact that they're offering $800 000 for a compertition i was never aware that was happering. How can i report it to inform skype that its a scam specificly?
    Thanks

Hi, ErinLouise, and welcome to the Community,
You are right to be suspicious!  Skype corresponds only via an account's registered e-mail address.  You may report this scam to Skype via e-mail: [email protected]
Be sure to Block and Report as Abuse/Spam the contact who sent this as well as any future, similar contact requests, which initially look like instant messages.
    Regards,
    Elaine
