Report Schedular backup.

Hi,
I have the following questions on Report scheduling:
(i)Will the job schedule be lost if we restart the report server?
(ii) Is it possible to take a backup of the scheduled jobs, incase we have to rescedule them due to a server crash.
(iii) Can we schedule jobs using any Unix command or through web interface? If possible, what is the command and its syntax?
I appreciate your help.
null

Assuming you are using Reports 6i:
(i). The list of all scheduled jobs for the
Reports Server is stored in
ORACLE_HOME/report60/server/<yourrepserver>.dat.
If the Reports Server is shut down
and restarted for any reason, this file is read by the Reports Server at startup and all scheduled jobs are restored.
(ii). see (i)
(iii). You can specify the SCHEDULE=<string>,
while executing RWCLI60.exe from command line or RWCGI60.exe from the WEB.
The compete sintax of SHEDULE parameter can be found in "Publishing Reports Release 6i", on-line manual
Slava.

  • Understanding report need backup recovery window ..

    Hello,
I have a big database which backed up within several days at night time. The retention policy is "recovery window of 3 days". I've tried to analyze the results of
report need backup; But I noticed than this command return just the list of datafiles having latest backup older than 3 days. I've tried to read again the docs:
    >
Reports data files for which there are not sufficient backups to satisfy a recovery window-based retention policy for the specified number of days, that is, data files without sufficient backups for point-in-time recovery to any point back to the time SYSDATE - integer.
    >
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I consider that the ability to make recover to any point in time within 3 days require the backup taken earlier than 3 days ago and archivelogs from the time when backup was taken to the recover PIT. Im I right? If so then how I should interprete the results of report need backup ? I can't find the detailed explanations of this in the docs :(
    Thanks in advance,
    Constantine

You are correct in your appreciations.
This report is about the need of backups, without considering archivelog backups.
It does not mean that listed files are in an unrecoverable situation.
    Regards.

Learning how to look things up in the documentation is time well spent investing in your career. To that end, you should drop everything else you are doing and do the following:
    Go to [url tahiti.oracle.com]tahiti.oracle.com.
Locate the link for your Oracle product and version, and click on it.
You are now at the entire documentation set for your selected Oracle product and version.
    <b><i><u>BOOKMARK THAT LOCATION</u></i></b>
Spend a few minutes just getting familiar with what is available here. Take special note of the "books" and "search" tabs. Under the "books" tab (for 10.x) or the "Master Book List" link (for 11.x) you will find the complete documentation library.
Spend a few minutes just getting familiar with what <b><i><u>kind</u></i></b> of documentation is available there by simply browsing the titles under the "Books" tab.
Open the Reference Manual and spend a few minutes looking through the table of contents to get familiar with what <b><i><u>kind</u></i></b> of information is available there.
Do the same with the SQL Reference Manual.
Do the same with the Utilities manual.
You don't have to read the above in depth. They are <b><i><u>reference</b></i></u> manuals. Just get familiar with <b><i><u>what</b></i></u> is there to <b><i><u>be</b></i></u> referenced. Ninety percent of the questions asked on this forum can be answered in less than 5 minutes by simply searching one of the above manuals.
Then set yourself a plan to dig deeper.
    - Read a chapter a day from the Concepts Manual.
    - Take a look in your alert log. One of the first things listed at startup is the initialization parms with non-default values. Read up on each one of them (listed in your alert log) in the Reference Manual.
    - Take a look at your listener.ora, tnsnames.ora, and sqlnet.ora files. Go to the Network Administrators manual and read up on everything you see in those files.
    - When you have finished reading the Concepts Manual, do it again.

  • RMAN report need backup

We have an incremental level-1 backup Mon-Sat and cold full backup on Sundays with retention policy of 7 days. While troubleshooting some backup issues (space issue, expired backups) I ran the following commands and trying to understand the output.
    RMAN> report need backup database;
RMAN retention policy will be applied to the command
RMAN retention policy is set to recovery window of 7 days
Report of files whose recovery needs more than 7 days of archived logs
    File Days Name
    100 146 /orahprdidx/hprd/psindex05.dbf
    RMAN> report unrecoverable;
Report of files that need backup due to unrecoverable operations
File Type of Backup Required Name
    RMAN> report need backup days = 7 database;
Report of files whose recovery needs more than 7 days of archived logs
    File Days Name
    100 146 /orahprdidx/hprd/psindex05.dbf
    RMAN> report obsolete recovery window of 7 days;
    no obsolete backups found
    RMAN>
I looks like I need 146 days worth of archive log files to recover the psindex05.dbf. If so, what I could do to bring that into the 7 days policy?
The database is fine, I am not trying to recover the database.
This was setup by someone and now I am taking over with minimum RMAN experience.
I appreciate any help in this subject.

The datafile was offline. I guess it was created my mistake and hanging in there. Once I do the cleanup it should go away.

I followed #C3 and loaded Time Machine Buddy, which was defnitely helpful, then deleted the file that the backup failed at, but after 3 more attempts I stopped deleting or excluding files as this wasn't improving the situation.
The recommendation is to exclude those files from being backed-up, not to delete them!
Updating boot support partitions for the volume as required:
Yes, that's a bit misleading.  It just means that will be done, if it's required, which it isn't on your backups.
I have no idea if anything actually was changed however just when I had given up and walked away, TM has started working after a week of failing.
It probably did find and fix something.  Just for reference, Disk Utiltiy usually shows the progress and repair messages in the center part of the window, but often doesn't when repairing a sparse bundle on a network.  You can see the messages at any time by clicking the Log icon in the toolbar, or select Window > Show Log from the menubar.
    Anyway, glad it's sorted out!

  • Some iPhoto pictures missing after time machine recovery, were there errors reported during backup that I missed?

Hello. I used time machine/time capsule to automatically back up my sytem over the last 3 years and I used the backups to recover my system to a new hard drive when the original drive began to fail. After recovery, I noticed there are missing photos in iPhoto.
I'm curios where I should look to see why they weren't backed up, and why it wasn't obvious to me at the time that they weren't backed up.
Does time machine explicitly call out issues when it can't back up a file or does it just squirrel a message away in the system log?
I'd like to know because I'd like avoid this issue going forward.
    Full disclosure & History -
The hard drive on my late 2009 27" iMac was exhibiting issues and started to go bad. No problem I thought, I'll get a new one and recover the system from my time capsule.
The full recovery was initiated from the OS install media. Upon recovery, the system wouldn't boot. After booting from the OS install media and reinstalling the OS on top of the recovered data the system booted and seemed to retain almost everything. This may not be the best way to recover but it seemed to work.
    I additionally had to:
    repatch the OS
    reinstall iWork
relicense MS Office (otherwise office seemed to be intact)
When I started looking through my iPhoto libraries, there were some events with no pictures (mostly the newer events). I couldn't find the pictures on the time capsule either so I'm curios if there was anyway I could have known that backups weren't completing successfully. I had run a time machine incremental backup before pulling out the old hard drive and it seemed to complete successfully so I'm at a loss. I can understand that as the hard drive began to fail, there may have been issues backing up the data, but I somehow missed it if/when the problems were reported.
Should I go through the old system logs that were backed up on the time capsule and look for backupd messages/errors? Going forward, how do I know if there are backup issues?
It took me a couple weeks to realize the drive was failing. I had noticed that the system performance was getting bad, and the system would occassionally hang. It would come back OK after a restart. I thought it was because the filesystem was getting close to full (30GB left on a 1 TB drive) so I was chasing down cleaning up some data to make more room. There were suggestions in other forums to try and keep the filesystem 10% free.
While moving data from the internal drive to a new external drive (to free up space) the system would hang. I eventually found a couple disk0 errors in the kernel log and I actually witnessed disk0 disappear while running an iostat. I'm thinking it took me too long to know the disk was going bad, and so the pictures I imported over the last 3-4 weeks may be gone.
I still have the original drive so I'll see if anything else can be salvaged from it.
    Looking for some suggestions on
    1) the ability to know if time machine backups are successful and are in sync with my system
    2) the ability to know when there are hardware issues that I should be aware of
If you got to this point, thanks for taking the time to read through all this.
    Regards,
    -mike

    Hi Mike,
I just saw this post and saw no one has responded.  You might have figured out but in case, I wanted to let you know what I found out.  I had the same problem.  Hard drive failure, they installed a new one and my iPhoto pictures were missing.  I couldn't find them on Time Machine either which baffled (and frustrated) me b/c I just backed up my drive and I was missing pictures from over a year ago.
I found this article and it allowed me to at least find my pictures...so they weren't lost after all.
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/16029742#16029742
As for why they aren't showing up in iPhoto or Time Machine, the lady at the Mac store said it is probably an OS conflict.  Which makes sense since I can see the actual pictures in the iPhoto content file (per the article mentioned above).  However, I didn't have my computer with me at the store to have a Genius person help me resolve the conflict.
BUT, if you can find the pictures, then maybe you can reimport them into iPhoto?  Just a thought.
    Good luck!

  • Planning ,Business rules and Reporting Analysis Backup

    Hi
Currently we have migrated our Hyperion Planning EPMA 11.1.1.2 applications from TEST to PROD on windows 2003 Server (2 boxes).Essbase Server on UNIX and Application Server is OAS.We need to take backups on daily basis for Hyperion planning, BR's ,Reporting Analysis , Financial Reporting and Essbase , Open LDAP.
But now We are taking only backups for Essbase and Open LDAP by using maxl script and Backup.bat file (Scheduled in Windows Scheduler)
As per the documentation we are going to take the backups for the Hyperion planning, BR's ,Reporting Analysis , Financial Reporting also.
    Our concerns are
1)Is there any BAT files for planning , BR'S and Reporting like open LDAP Backup.BAT
    2) If doesn't have how can we move ?(not manually, Using Windows Scheduler)
    3) Is there any necessity to create new Batch scripts for this action?
Could you please any one help me out.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
There are no other batch scripts I am aware of, you will have to create any new ones.
In regards to backing up with business rules and planning, that would be mainly be backing up the repository.
You can also use LCM to export your objects and this can be called from command line.
    Cheers

  • Report Services Backup Encryption Key

I have tried with diferents passwords but none of them is ok. I don't have any rule on local windows password policy!
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!
    MD.

    Hi,
Maybe there is a custom password security filter installed on the server. In HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\LSA, check the Notification Packages element. This is a custom password filter, and may reject the password that you entered for encrypting the keys.
Try to remove that entry and reboot the server.
    Hopefully this helps.

  • Time machine reports erroneous backup size

I had my TM disk disconnected for about a week and now when I reconnect it, I get:
    Time Machine Error
This backup is too large for the backup disk. The backup requires 499.48 GB but only 492.29 GB are available.
However, my get info reports that only 223.73 GB are currently in use. Any ideas? I'm repairing permissions now and, if that doesn't work, I was thinking to try rebooting and repairing the disk, but if anyone has an alternative suggestion, I'd be grateful. I've actually just gone ahead and removed all my old backups, and emptied the trash, so the backup disk should be entirely open for anything.
Any help would be much appreciated!

That has nothing to do with the backup drive.   That's what Time Machine thinks is everything that's subject to being backed-up on your internal HD (and any others being backed-up).
For some reason, it's trying to do a full backup of that (and it adds 20% to the estimated size, for workspace, etc., so it gets the 499 GB in the message).
Try the Verify Disk (not permissions) on your internal HD again, per #A5 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting.
It's also possible the preferences file (where the exclusions, etc., are kept) is somehow corrupted.  Try a "full reset" of Time Machine, per #A4 in that same link.
Also see #D3 there, for possible causes of a full backup.

    Hi,
i want to make an ibot to save a report (in excel or other fileformat) to a folder on the server. This report should also get a creation date.

We are in a Unix environment so I will be looking at using the Java solution and if you are on a windows platform you can call the scripts passing the parameters in.

  • TM backups became "instantaneous"(?!), no errors reported, no backups shown

I've been successfully using TM for over a year.
Then a couple of weeks ago I entered TM and noticed that no backups were available for any files - it only shows "NOW".
What's weird is that it looks as if backups are happening, which can't be possible because they used to take minutes and now they take less than 2 seconds.
    TM preferences shows:
    Available: 165GB / 500GB
    Latest Backup: Today, 2:46PM
    Thoughts/suggestions? Thanks

Ah, that looks like you've been bitten by a long-known bug. See the yellow box in #D5 of [Time Machine - Troubleshooting|http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/Troubleshooting.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of this forum).
I am aware that "Star Wars" display is context dependent.
BTW, if I browse the external drive that I use for backup I can see a folder for each "backup" (including the recent ones), but the recent ones have old data.
You should see the same thing via the "Star Wars" display. Since you don't, try the things in #E4 in Troubleshooting.

  • Security Backup Of Hyperion Financial/Web Analysis Reports

    Dear All,
In the development server reports are running properly with there security. But when we move from the development server to the production server how do we have the reports security backup ?
Is there any way to take the security backup of reports or we have to follow the same process for giving the security in the production server?
    Vikram

    Vikram,
I think you need to use LCM to migrate your artifacts from dev to production server.
Like here you can migrate Reporting and Analysis artifacts
Like here you can migrate security options.
You need to use these migrations simultaneously (in one batch) directly between applications on different servers.
ps. Please, write here effect of your actions.

  • Methods to report backup status of CUCM

Is there any methods out there that allows the reporting of CUCM backup status via DRS.  I want to report on backup status (eg the backup history page in DRS).  I can't see any way of getting this info out apart from scraping the DRS Web page.  Checked the data dictionary for any tables that might contain job history but nothing is too obvious atm.
I realise you can get the system to email out job failures/issues but there seems to be no way to email status whether it be success or failure.
    Cheers
    Nathan

    Hello Agathe,
Would you mind telling me how you are getting the SNMP trap notifications for DRS? I'm in the same situation would like to know if there is a MIB/OID which can be checked. I know you can send the syslog message under alarm->drs and send to a remote syslog server. But would much rather be able to via SNMP to alert on failures.
