Report sharing in EA3

I tried setting up the shared reports in EA3 on both linux and windows and I keep getting the following error message:
Exception exiting traversable oracle.dbtools.raptor.config.ExtensionPanel[,0,0,485x389,invalid,layout=java.awt.GridBagLayout,alignmentX=0.0,alignmentY=0.0,border=,flags=9,maximumSize=,minimumSize=,preferredSize=]
The steps I took to do this is preferences->datatabase->user defined extenstions
add row, select report, select shared xml file.
I did initially have a problem of it remembering the file I selected but I resolved that by adding another row and leaving it blank. It seems to remember then but that is when I got this error.
Am I setting this up correctly?

The problem is in the panel for the User Extensions:
When you add a row and enter the Type and then the file location, to make sure this location is saved I click back in the Type field. This preference editor does not have a "sticky" save, so your locations are lost if you browse to the location, select it and then immediately select OK.

  • Report Shared Folder

    Hi
    Is it possible to restrict or grant access to the report shared folder by specific user level (not by role)?
    For example there are 03 sub shared folder & user access should be:
    Folder A (user1 only)
    Folder B (user2, user3)
    Folder C (user 4 only)

    Thanks Max for quick reply. Actually I want to create different reports for number of users, and each of them will not be able to view other's report.
    For example:
    User 1 will be able to view/download Report 1 only
    User 2 will be able to view/download Report 2 only
    My first option is put in the Shared folder and litmit access to the subfolder but this does not work. Do you have any work around for this?
    Thanks & Regards

  • Report sharing problem - Help!

    I have developed a CR XI report template linked to a Salesforce database. Runs fine. I sent a copy of the .rpt file to a colleague who is using the same version of CR XI (both copies are legal and registered). When she tries to open the .rpt file, she receives an error message saying that CR doesn't recognize the file format. We've tried several times. I sent her a blank non-SF .rpt file ... same problem. She sent me a blank non-SF linked template from her system. I can open it just fine, but if I make ANY changes and return it, she gets the same error message whether she's linked to SF or not.
    Product Version: 11.5.8.826
    What's the cause? We need to be able to share report templates smoothly and I assume that this is possible 'cause it appears to work in one direction.
    Thanks,
    Mark

    Not sure if this will help you, but I had a similar issue and wanted to post my solution somewhere on these forums for others to reference.
    My PC with iTunes has the my entire music library and I was trying to share it to my Mac Mini wirelessly, and couldn't get it to connect. The Mac could see the PC listed under the Shared section, but I would always get the error you received.
    Here's what I did: I went to the Disk Utility (under /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility
    I then clicked on my hard drive, and under First Aid, selected 'Verify Disk Permissions'. I noticed that a couple of files with the word iTunes in the name were not correct - I ran the 'Repair Disk Permissions', opened iTunes, and sharing worked immediately.
    I hope someone else can benefit from this....

  • Using member sorting and grouping with two reports sharing rows

    Hi!
    I have a problem with one report and I need some help or advise here.
    I have two dimensions with dynamic expansion in rows (PRODUCT, MATERIAL), and I use the option Member Sorting and Grouping at Member selector to obtain the total amount of PRODUCT group by PARENTH1:
    PRODUCT               MATERIAL          AMOUNT
    TOTAL PROD_A-X                                   100
    PROD_A_A             MAT1                          22
    PROD_A_B             MAT1                          50
    PROD_A_A             MAT2                          28
    TOTAL PROD_B-X                                   120
    PROD_B_A             MAT1                          30
    PROD_B_A             MAT2                          50
    PROD_B_B             MAT2                          40
    This works fine if I only have one report, but I need to create another one sharing the row and page axis with the Default Report, when I do that the option Member Sorting and Grouping doesn't work. I really need to have two reports with shared rows and also the summation by PARENTH1, how can I do that?
    Thank you very much

  • Solution for report sharing in OSA?

    A HUGE complaint from our OSA users is a lack of ability to share reports between users. We're using OSA Think client on Unix. Any suggestions for a solution?
    Our solution concept is to create a user friendly application to export/import from the personal db.
    Using OEO, we created this application and it's pretty slick. However, we don't want to install OEA on each client and have been told that we need OEA for OEO applications.

    Thanks for the reply.
    BIG mistake on my last message, we're DEFINATELY THIN client, not thick.
    That being said, we're concerned about the work process maintenance associated with letting folks publish to folders at random. We use folders today for published templates.
    We distinguish 'publishing' as the 'standard' report templates from sharing which is unique to individuals.
    If we use them for 1:1 sharing, how would we keep the folders cleaned out... we wouldn't know who's using what and users might be confused about what they see.
    The only way 'sharing' might work via publishing to a folder is if we could allow write access only to that folder for everyone, and could regularly maintain that area by wiping it clean. I'll look up the reference you mentioned to see if this is possible.

  • Public / Sharing of Interactive Reports

    The new Interactive Reports are a great feature that will be extremely helpful for both our development team and our users. However, currently when a user saves an interactive report, there's no way to share it with other users or to make it a public report that can be viewed by everyone. This is because the report is saved with the user's name and can only be viewed by that particular user. This really limits the usefulness of the interactive reports. For example, we would like to enable our power users, administrative users, and even regular end users to be able to create and modify reports and share them with others. In addition, our company has several hundred Crystal reports that we would like to replace with interactive reports. However, if our development team creates all of these as interactive reports (using the “Save Report” feature, not as separate pages), there is no way to make them public so that all of our users can then access them. I've read several requests in this forum for this type of enhancement. I've also read that the apex team intends to implement this sharing feature soon. In the meantime, I've figured out a work-around. This work-around saves and retrieves all interactive reports using a generic, fictitious user name. Using the Page Sentry Function under the Authentication Scheme, we switch the APP_USER to a generic, fictitious user only for the interactive report pages, and set APP_USER back to the original, correct user on the other pages. Here's the code I'm using in the Page Sentry function:
    declare
    c owa_cookie.cookie;
    begin
    if :app_page_id in (1,51,52) then
    APEX_CUSTOM_AUTH.SET_USER('REPORT_USER');
    else
    c := owa_cookie.get('LOGIN_USERNAME_COOKIE');
    APEX_CUSTOM_AUTH.SET_USER(c.vals(1));
    end if;
    return true;
    end;
    This code will set the APP_USER to "REPORT_USER" on pages 1, 51, and 52. Therefore, when interactive reports are saved or retrieved on these pages, they will use the user named "REPORT_USER" regardless of the user that actually logged into the application. This concept can also be expanded to limit certain reports to certain users (or groups of users) by calling a custom function in the database.
    I tried using the SET_USER code within a page process (PL/SQL anonymous block), and although it changed the APP_USER, it did not affect the interactive report. I assume this is because the interactive report “does its thing” prior to the firing of the processes on a page. However, the Page Sentry function apparently fires earlier in the sequence (before the interactive report processing).
    This will make the interactive reports much more useful for our company and I hope it will be useful to some of you as well.

    Scott-
    Thanks for the feedback. I tried both the Session Verification Function and the VPD attribute and neither one accomplished the goal. The VPD attribute PL/SQL code apparently fires too late in the process, so although it changed the APP_USER, it had no affect on the interactive report. And the Session Verification Function had adverse affects on the authentication. So rather than mess around with the security settings in the application, I came up with a different work-around.
    Here's the new work-around.
    On the interactive report page I created a page process (PL/SQL anonymous block) and set the process point to "On Load - Before Header". For the process I entered the following pl/sql code:
    begin
    update FLOWS_030100.WWV_FLOW_WORKSHEET_RPTS
    set APPLICATION_USER = :APP_USER
    where ID = :REPORTID
    and session_id is null;
    end;
    This code changes the application user in the underlying interactive report table. It sets the user to the current APP_USER only for the report being viewed. Therefore, when the interactive report processing happens, it thinks the report is for the current APP_USER and renders the report just fine. It also saves any changes to the report back to the base report so other users can view the modifications as well.
    I have the tab feature turned off on my interactive reports. Instead I have another page that lists all the interactive reports. When a user clicks one of the reports in the list, I set the REPORTID variable and pull up the corresponding interactive report (that's why I'm using REPORTID in the where clause). For users that are using a tabbed approach, they may have to set the application user for all of the base reports (or figure out another way to determine which individual report tab is being viewed). If they were setting it for all the base reports, it would look like this:
    begin
    update FLOWS_030100.WWV_FLOW_WORKSHEET_RPTS
    set APPLICATION_USER = :APP_USER
    where session_id is null;
    end;
    This solution isn't ideal when lots of users are hitting the same interactive report. It's possible that if two user attempt to load the same interactive report at the same time, the following might happen.
    1. User A triggers process to update underlying table
    2. User B triggers process to update underlying table
    3. User A triggers process to run interactive report (and therefore does not see the report because the report is now set to User B)
    4. User B triggers process to run interactive report (and sees report just fine)
    So the solution isn't ideal, but it's the best I could come up with until the apex team implements real report sharing. I've tested it with a handful of users and it's worked very well so far.

  • Moving 11g BI Publisher Reports to Shared Folders in same instance.

    Hi ,
    I have to move BI Publishers reports from MY Folders to the Shared Folders in the same BI Publisher instance.
    I just wanted to know do we have to move Data Model associated with the Report as well?
    As of now i have just moved the BIP Reports and they are working fine, but was unsure on this Data Model part.
    Can someone throw light on whats the good practise related to moving Reports in BI Publisher.
    Thanks
    Ashish

    Ashish Gupta wrote:
    Should i move the data model in the Reports Folder only, under Shared Folders?
    just wanted to know the best practise as to how data model and reports are stored under Shared folders as in separate folders or everything in the same folder.Yes the best practice is to create a folder called BIP Reports(shared folder) -> under which you can create 2 folders as Data Model and Data Template
    >
    Also how do i make sure that these Reports under Shared Folders are pointing to the Data Model in the Shared Folders and not to the Data Model of My Folders?
    Thanks
    AshishTo make sure the data template/report is pointed to data model in shared folder go to the corresponding report and from right pane under the report you see options as open schedule jobs job history edit more
    select edit -> opens a new window -> from top you see a magnifier icon click on that opens a new window now select the datamodel from shared folder for the corresponding report thats it.
    hope it helps
    Thanks,

  • Crystal Report Application Sharing Issue

    We are receiving the following error message when trying to open up Crystal Reports from within our application.
    Unable to load Crystal Report user function dll:
       e:\Program Files\Centricity Practice Solution 90\Client\mlcrwlib2.dll.
    The report may not run correctly.
    Here is an explanation of our current environment:
    We are utilizing Crystal Reports XI R2 SP6 using the ActiveX Designer control, craxddrt.dll, to open up Crystal Reports within a  Visual Basic project.  I did not see a VB forum so I'm posting here in .NET.
    We are including the 4 Crystal Merge Modules in our InstallShield Project when installing our application so we feel we are installing correctly, but there appears to be a Crystal Reports sharing issue with another application.  When we attempt to open up our Crystal Reports from within the application, we get the error message above.  If we click OK to the error message our report opens.  I would like to eliminate the error message, but I'm not sure why we are even calling the file in the error above.
    I'm assuming that the other application has created a user function or something that is registered within Crystal Reports, but we do not have access to or cannot load it.   We have not been able to reach anyone from the other software application company to ask questions so I'm hoping that someone can point me in the right direction as to what is going on here.
    I have verified that the Business Objects folder was created with the run-time files needed to run Crystal Reports.  I also see a previous version of Crystal Reports run-time files on this server since a Crystal Report folder exists.  I have utilized Process Monitor to see that the correct craxddrt.dll is being opened, but I cannot figure out how the file in the error message above is being called.
    Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello Marlon,
    I worked on a Centricity (GE Medical) issue with the Report Designer Component (RDC) a number of months ago. As part of my troubleshooting I discovered that their application uses an atypical deployment of the Crystal runtime files for their Centricity application. The "short" version is that the way they implemented the RDC would not have been supported by SAP Support.
    I was never able to resolve the Centricity issue, but proved that their implementation of the RDC was the root cause of the issue. The mlcrwlib2.dll is a Centricity DLL that seems to control how/where the craxdrt.dll / craxddrt.dll file is loaded (location A in one work stream in their application, location B in another work stream in their application).
    One of the side effects of this DLL is that it "took over" how the craxdrt.dll would load for any other application that also used the RDC (craxdrt.dll / craxddrt.dll). I proved the issue by sending them a simple sample application that was written in CPP. Using CPP allowed us to eliminate the need to reference any other dependencies besides the Crystal runtime files. This sample application consistently failed with a reference to their mlcrwlib2.dll - which I knew wasn't referenced in my CPP sample. At the time Centricity wasn't able to explain why their mlcrwlib2.dll was being picked up by my sample. I expect that their issue would be resolved once they discovered why mlcrwlib2.dll loaded erroneously, but they were still working on the answer to that question.
    Because we couldn't determine how and why the mlcrwlib2.dll was behaving as it did I'd suggest not trying to use a "side by side" installation of another RDC application. I know it's not much of an answer, but it might help explain why all the regular troubleshooting steps aren't working for you.
    Sincerely,
    Dan Kelleher

  • Sub-report summary fields

    I have two sub-reports on a report. Each of these sub-reports have a quantity summary on them. I want to find the difference between these two summary totals.
    So let's say Sub(A) total is 200 and Sub(B) total is 25, is there a way to subtract the 25 from the 200 and bring that total to the main report?

    HI SD,
    1.you have share the value to main report from both sub report by using formula .
    2.Sub Report Formula
    For A Sub Report
    shared numberVar Aqty;
    Aqty := Sum ({Command.Qty})
    For B Sub Report
    shared numberVar Bqty;
    Bqty := Sum ({Command.Qty})
    3.Main Report Formula
    Aqty
    shared numberVar Aqty;
    B Qty
    shared numberVar Bqty;
    4.you can create final formula for different Aqty-Bqty
    5.you should put formula in both sub report and you should place the main report formula in below of sub report then only it will work. -Rajesh N

    CA Forum: General
    Hi
    Crystal Report version : 11.0.0.1282 Standard
    There is MainReport1. Other is Subreport1
    Scenario :
    MainReport1 having paramater PdateMain1 as dateTime.
    SubReport1 having parameter dateSub1 ,dateSub2.
    datesub1 is used for One datasource1 (DataSource- XML -from webApplication)  , dateSub2 is used for datasource2 (DataSource-SQl Procedure ) ( This is requirement as i need to used two datasource )
    Value of datesub1 and datesub1 is same (it is created automatical as it is part of SQLProcedure and XML Query ) but get prompted twice for the same valuewhich  is not desirable. so for that i have created main report and calling this subreport in main report.
    Now i want's to pass PdataMain1 to Parameter datesub1  and datesub2. I am able to pass  PdataMain1 to datesub1.  through Change Sub report link ( Option on right click of report).and it is working fine,
    Problem :
    But Subreport link Menu does not allow to bind PdateMain1 to datesub2 as it is allready bind with datasub2.
    to overcome this i created one Formula field in main report as fMaindate1 which copy date from Parameter PdateMain1.and bind ( link) the  fMaindate1 to datesub2.  when i link this , subreport does not display any thing at all. It it a limitation of crystal report or i am missing some thing , Is it like that we can pass formula of ,main report to subreport Paramater in Crystal 11 Standard , if we can anyone please Provide help on this.
    This can be easily achieve through application programming but my need to get this done in Report itself.Thanks
