Reports 3/6i HTML Output Print problem

Hi!
I am using Reports 3 to generate HTML output but when I print this HTML output, it does not break at Oracle Reports Page break. It looks like the browser takes its default settings for margins. I am using IE 5.5.
I tried the following options
1. Using { page-break-after: always } option in 'After Page Value' of Report Escapes property (Report)
2. Changing margin settings of browser, but was not able to change them to 0.
I want to print the HTML report with page breaks where Oracle marks as Page Break.

When you generate a HTML page in Reports, you are generating a single page document that is then intepretted by the browser. You are correct that when you then print this page from the browser then it will not necessarily break at the same point as the reports page breaks.
The only way to guarantee that you will get the same breaks is to use a different format. Most commonly people use PDF format when they want the printed page to match exactly what's on the screen. Alternatively you could include a link on the HTML rendition of the report that resubmits the report to the server but instructs the server to print the report directly.

XSLT HTML output escaping problem

I am having problems with JAXP XSLT output escaping in HTML. I have an XML document which correctly escapes &, <, > etc (eg: &amp). However, when I transform the document the XSLT processor is escaping these values again. This means that the HTML output contains & where the XML document contains & (for example). Surely correctly escaped characters in the XML should be left alone? Or should the XML document not contain escaped characters? In my understanding special characters in text nodes of XML documents should be escaped. Obviously a work around is to disable output escaping on these nodes but that is a real pain to have to do each time you pull a value through from the XML document. I'm confused as to what format the XSLT processor expects the XML to be in in relation to escaping of elements. Any information gratefully accepted!

Sorry! I was getting confused - the special characters were being escaped twice before they reached the XSLT processor. It looks like the processor will leave alone escape sequences that are already in the XML when it transforms to HTML.

Output print problem

Hi.
I'm trying to get an output print to a local printer. I am getting this message "Frontend unavailable" when I try it using my ID.In output controller STATUS TEXT is cuming FRONTEND UNAVAILABLE.
Can u help me so that i din't get this message FRONTEND UNAVAILABLE.

Report Called from FORMS having Printing Problem

Hi all
Guys i have a report problem in reports 6i.
I am calling a report from my FORM 6i directly to printer (a dot matrix printer).
I have set
Add_Parameter(pl_id,'DesType',TEXT_PARAMETER,'printer');
The report is actually a confirmation report and i have given its layout height equal to 3.7 . But when i send it to printer it ejects the paper equal to 11 (equal to height of a portarait report).
How can manage this ejection from Form or Report Side.
NOTE : This problem occurs even if print the report from report preview(means not printed directlty from FORM).
Kindly help me with this if any.
I need it urgent.

The furthur detail to my previous problem is given as follows:
I am getting problem
with the Oracle reports. I have a dot matrix printer (Epson LQ-300, which is a
tractor feed printer). While printing a report which is always not more than half a
page, the printer does not stop after printing the report(the half page). It stops at
the end of the page. I mean that half the page is printed and the rest half is blank.
I want that the printer should print only at half a page. On the blank half it should
print another copy of same report.

Consignment fill-up - Output Printing Problem - Z customizing problem

Dear Gurus,
I have customized and copied the following 2 sales documents types:
- OR
- KB
into ZSTA and ZKB
When I create a Sales Order using VA01 and ZSTA, and chose 1 material + 1 service, the printed invoice clearly shows 2 items for each one of them.
When I create a Sales Order using VA01 and ZKB, and again chose 1 material + 1 service, only the material appears on the invoice and not the service...
Does anyone has an idea about where the problem might come from?

Mass output printing problem " VF31"

Hi,
First go to VF02 and go to menu Go to / Header / Output
check whether there is a output appear as a line and the whether the status is Green.
If there is nothing appear there. Please add the output manually there and try to get the printout by filling relevant data in "Communication Method" and "Further Data" buttons.
If you can get the print without issue, then do below.
Go to VF31.
Set "Processing mode" as 2
Mark relevant tick boxes.
Then execute and see.

Crystal Report Server 2008 SP1 redistributable printing problems

I'm trying to print from a asp .net form after recently installing the Crystal Report Server 2008 SP1 redistributable.
When I click on the print button it brings up a empty messagebox with 'csprintdlg' in the title in IE7.
My installation on the Windows2003 is slighty different since my Inetpub\wwwroot folder is located on the D: drive.
The previous installer, included the aspnet_client\system_web\2_0_50727\crystalreportviewers12
on the C: drive but this one did not. I copied the folder from another server with just the initial version of the redistributable, everything works except printing.

Using [Fiddler|http://www.fiddlertool.com/fiddler/] on the client web browser machine will give you a clearer idea of what's amiss on the server.
It's a starting point for tracing back to what's missing or being denied on the server.
Following that, [Process Monitor|http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx] on the server is useful for hunting for missing components or permissions issues.

How to issue print command from report/form server to client printer on web

1) We have a client server application which is to be deployed on the web environment. The reports generated in our application are having a destination type as File. These reports are printed after applying some print format (escape sequences) which are passed on to the printer programmatically at runtime while printing.
Now when this application is shifted on to the Application server (Forms server & Reports Server )in web environment ,the report outputs would be generated in the application server as against the client in client server environment as the report server is on the application server.
Now while printing/accessing the report the output file will not be available to the client unless it is pushed on to the client side from the server . I am able to see reports in pdf/html output but in this case layout of my reports gets changed and I dont want to change my layouts or reformat my report layouts.
How do I redirect the report output from the application server on to the client within the D2k context and then execute print commands?
Note: In this case we want to use both DMT and Laser printing. Also note that we use escape sequences to adjust reports in desired printing papers.
2) We have second set of reports which we call as document because these are printed after capturing data from 'Form' using text_io utility (please note that for these documents we are not using any Report 6i functionality)and we print it from file using printing mechanism as mentioned above. These are working well in client server application. We adopted this methodology for getting better performance (in terms of speed as database server and network traffic is not involved) of printing. But now we are converting our application for web, we are finding it difficult how to capture Form's data from browser to client's machine and then executing printing commands which are stored in our application liabrary.
If you help me out by giving some suggestions, I shall be grateful to you.

I wonder if you ever solved this problem.
I have a very similar problem with Photoshop CS5 on Mac OSX 10.6 + HP Photosmart C7180.
If I choose "Photoshop Manages Colors" the results are lousy.
If I choose "Printer Manages Colors" the results are OK. not necessarily great.
I believe I have all the correct settings after going through books and web advice (and wasted a lot of paper and ink).
As far as I can see, "ColorSync" is the internal Mac management which is the only option available with "Photoshop Manages Colors" and "Vendor Matching" appears to mean the printer vendor (ie HP) will provide the matching. Either can be selected if "Printer Manages Colors" is used. It seems the type of paper can be set in three different places. if That's all a bit academic as the results are poor regardless.
My wife suggests I buy a new printer - Epson's looking good.
Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.

Landscape page printing problem in report 3.0

Hi,
I am facing the problem in printing the report output on the
landscape page from report 3.0.I have changed the system
orientation property from default to landscape.But still report
output printing on as a portrait page.
Is there any another way to print the report output on the
landscape page ?

Have a look at System Parameter Orientation in your affected
Report.
I think from Reports 6i on you'll also have the Orientation
Property in Header-, Body- and Trailor-Section of Layout Model.

Print option in html output

Through BI Publisher i need to send my html output report to oracle ADF. There user needs Print option on the html output to his local printer..This html will come as pop up..There will not be any File-options. Is there any possiblity through Bi Publisher.

Can not print report when using HTML or DHTML

Can not print report when using HTML or DHTML. When I open the report and click the print icon I get a small blank dialog box and then nothing. If I change to activex it works and I can print.

I did not come across this situation before. Did you apply any fix packs. Try to check whether its a issue which can be fixed by applying fix pack( try to check release notes of fix pack and see if they mentioned any thing about this).

Report 6i print problem

"report background Engine has encountered a problem and needs to close, we sorry for inconvenience" ....
Any help to fiix the problem, the printer accepts normal windows progs prints but when connected as ne t work printer we face the problem.

I have used ORARRRP in 10g. As I have discovered following things should be fullfilled in order to work this utility normal.
1). Local printer should be set up to "Direct". "Spool" will not work.
2). Should not be a IP printer
3). In IP printers, it will work if a new connection established for the machine name (Shared printer)

i have made one oracle 6i reports. its is quite wide.when i run the report it shrink into too small font.
and i increse it font size it by pressing + button on menu bar it looks okay.

The report rendering engine tries to fit the report page into the physical page size. This results in shrinking of font size,etc.
To fix
a) reduce the content on the report to something reasonable for printing.(Std paper sizes and orientation)
b) change the page size selection. Of course, you will need a printer and paper of the size you set.

Printing problem in reports 6i

hi, i dont know where to post this quastion, but please please i need help
i have created an application using forms & reports 6i and database 9i,in this application i run a report which prints an id card
i use card printer ( fargo cardpro printer) to print this report, and it is working fine
recently i started to use a new card printer (zebra P12i)
when ever i give the printing request the report get stuk and my application closes and i get this message ( Reports background engine has encountered a problem and needs to close , we are sorry for the inconvenience)
i compiled the report and tried again, reinstalled forms and reports again , i changed my PC, but still i have the same problem.
