Reports 6 - Print Formatting Issues

If our default printer is 'HP Laser1' and we send a bitmap Reports 6 report to the previewer (where page 1 gets formatted so you can see it) and then change the printer from the previewer to 'Genicom Printer', page 1 will be formatted properly, but the remaining pages will be formatted with symbols. In addition, some reports are only printing half the page, leaving the right side blank (not accepting pagesize parameters).
What I'm looking for are instructions or documentation specific to setting up a printing environment where there are multiple printer types, but where reports may be printed on any printer. I have found information in Oracle documentation which alludes to usage of files containing lists of printers and associated fonts for translation or using the desttype parameter etc.
I think we can set up an environment that works, but there may be a better way. Has anyone had experiences along this line?

One thing you might do is this. Don't display the Title View in your reports. You can do this either by deleting the views from the Compound Layout or, within Edit Dashboard, by selecting only the view that contains the report. (Obviously, if your report has several view, you would need to choose the first route.)
Instead of the Title View, do this: In the Dashboard section which contains both reports, click on the "Rename" button. Type the name of that best illustrates both reports, check the "Display Section Heading" checkbox and click "OK."
Next, click the "Rename" button again and this time go in to the formatting section to format as required. (Note: After you check the checkbox, if you don't click "OK" right after, the check mark won't stick. So click "OK" and then go back in to do any formatting you wish.)
This method allows the user to collapse the section and still see what the section is about. This is good practice when you have several reports in one dashboard page. Even collapsing all the sections, you can see what is "inside" and expand the appropriate section.

  • SAP report print formats

    Hi!
    There are several report print formats in an ABAP report. You can choose between them during printing, some examples: X_65_80 (80 columns, 65 lines), X_90_120 (120 columns, 90 lines) and so on...
    Is there away to define more "standard" like printer formats?
    I know, I can give anything after the REPORT statement (like REPORT zreport LINE-SIZE 99 LINE-COUNT 99) but these are not standard and mostly the printers don1t like them.
    Thank you in advance
    Tamá

    Hi Tamas,
    When you run the report, the spool will be displayed on the screen. At this time, click on print,the system will show the print dialog. Click on properties, this will spool request attribites dialog. Click settings. in the next dialog box, select the required field, and the value and select the validity as required. This way you can set the standard format for all reports.

  • SSRS 2008 R2 why Link Report Print format different from parent?

    Hi,
    I have created a link report based on Report A.
    In Report A I have set the print format to "LANDSCAPE", but the link report always appear in Portrait, any work around on this?
    If this is one of the SSRS bugs, is that anyway I can disable the print button in Report Server?
    Thanks

    Hi SAMSUNG,
    I can reproduce the issue in my local environment. As per my understanding, this scenario is caused by design.
    In Reporting Services, Report server administrators have the option of disabling the print feature by setting the report server system property EnableClientPrinting to false. But this property will disable client-side printing for all reports managed by
    the server. So if you want to hide the print icon in all reports, we can refer to the following document:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms155874(v=sql.105).aspx
    Hope this helps.

    Hi
    I have a problem with the Dunning Report Print layout (Dunning All (system)). In the wizard I select all the Invoices (Which are over due and current) for the BP and sent to printer.

    Could you please help me.
    Thanks
    Sanjaya

    Hi
    I solved the problem. But the issue was when i ran the dunning wizard the layouts messed up. For example if I had a dunning letter with 3 lines (overdue documents). The last line would copy itself 4-6 times (it would show the last document 4-6times so the total lines in the dunning letter would be 7-9 lines). But I solve the issue. Somehow the attention person (which I got from the contact persons (ocrp) and not from the document contact person (oinv) ) did the issue. When i switch it to the oinv the issue was gone.

  • Crystal Report Printing - A4 Issue

    Hello Experts,
    One of our customers use third party rental add-on with SAP B1. The add-on has cyrstal reports files. All these reports are set to letter size by default in report page setup. Client does not to print in A4 .
    When the user clicks on Print Preview / Print Icon on  rental order the , the report loads, but when sent to Printer for printing it becomes A4 (It should be letter).
    The rental reports works fine on the SAP Server, meaning when sent to printer it goes as Letter size which is what we want but this does not happen at Client's machine's.
    Also , i have an add-on running on my local machine and the reports prints in letter size with out any issue. I have been searching online regarding this issue but i haven't found any solution.
    Can any one advise me on this issue. Is there any setting that i can do in crystal or printer ?

    Is the default page size for the client's printer set at Letter or A4?

  • PRINT FORMAT issue

    Hi ALL,
    We have recently upgraded to ECC 6.0.
    We are facing an issue with the print format. In the BG job, we have set the page format as 'X_65_132', but when it is creating the spool  it is changing the format to X_65_255.
    Please give your valuable suggestions on what could be the reason for this?

    most probably this is an unicode issue.
    /correction
    my above statement is crap. it should be the printer setting which make this happen.
    just try the proposal of the poster below.

  • Smartform -Network printer format Issue

    Hi,
    I can print fine using my YPCC default printer.
    But When i do through network printer FORMAT is getting Disturbed( Values are printing in next line).How can we handle this? Do we need to do some driver program modifications?
    Here are the parameters in Driver program
    CALL FUNCTION fm_name
          EXPORTING
            archive_index        = toa_dara
            archive_index_tab    = arc_ind_tab
            archive_parameters   = arc_params
            control_parameters   = ls_control_param
            mail_appl_obj        = ls_recipient
            mail_recipient       = ls_recipient
            mail_sender          = ls_sender
            output_options       = ls_composer_param
            user_settings        = space
            wa_itab              = wa_header
          IMPORTING
            document_output_info = document_output_info
            job_output_info      = job_output_info
            job_output_options   = job_output_options
          TABLES
            wa_dep               = item_itab
          EXCEPTIONS
            formatting_error     = 1
            internal_error       = 2
            send_error           = 3
            user_canceled        = 4.
        IF sy-subrc <> 0.
          WRITE: / 'ERROR in passing vars to the smartforms '.
        ENDIF.
        ls_composer_param-tdnewid = space.
        ls_control_param-no_dialog = 'X'.

    YOu need to modify the smartform not the driver program to print all lines the way you want by changing font size, reducing line length...etc..etc..
    It's printing fine on the default PC printer, because, it uses windows printer driver to render the output, where as SAP network printer uses SAP printer driver to generate the printer commands, there's always difference in the output between the two drivers.

  • Report Print & Export Issue (File Download Box appears)

    We send a URL to Crystal Enterprise which runs a script, logs on, finds folder, finds report and displays in the Crystal report viewer. All that works fine....

  • ICal printing/format issues

    I can not get my iCal to print entirely on a single page (standard 8.5 x 11) OR in color.  Under normal circumstances I would say it's my printer...but I have no issues at all printing my MS Office Calendar or anything else.  Is anyone else having this issue?  Any help would be REALLY appreciated.  Thanks!

    Where do I start - it was an easy but long winded process. Firstly when you plug your iPod in and start iTunes you have the option of just pressing "sync" at the bottom. Each time you sync this way the colours on the iPod remain the same not necessarily the same as in iCal but the same on the iPod. With the iPod plugged in go to the "info" tab and right down the bottom choose "Replace information on this iPod" and click the "calendars" checkbox. You will then see "Apply" on the bottom right. Click this and the iPod will just sync from your calendar. Each time you do this the colours change on the iPod. Repeat this process as many times as you wish until you get the colours the way you want them. When you have done this go to iCal and highlight the calendar you want to change the colour for then right click or hold ctrl and left click (if you have a single button mouse). Then "get info". In this tab you will see the colour for the calendar. Click to change it to the same colour as on your iPod. Do this for each of your calendars. Next time you sync your iPod on the main summary screen the colours should stay the same. Painful, I know but a work around non the less.

  • ALV report - Print issues

    When trying to print an ALV report (Ctrl+P), printer has issues due to the shading (backgound colors) of the report.
    So here is my question,
    Is there a way to supress the report formatting while printing?
        or
    Can you convert an ALV into an unfomatted basic report?

    In the output screen
    GOTO  LIST IN THE MENU
    SELECT EXPORT IN IT
    THEN SELECT EXPORT SPREAD SHEET
    to get other basic format for the alv output.

  • XI R2 To 3.1 Sp2 migration and report format issues

    Hello,
    is there a way to fix or troubleshoot report format issues after migrating to 3.1?
    We have a heavy report that the format (the way the report looks) is very important. In crytal Reports 2008 sp2 the format is OK.
    But from BOE CMC or from url reporting the report format have problems.

    Edited by: RUHVER BARENGI on May 18, 2010 9:48 AM

    Hi Ruhver,
    Crystal Report documents are heavily dependant on the printer driver for formatting.  If you design the report using a specific default driver than it will be dependant on that printer driver for formatting.  When you publish it to Enterprise, the same printer driver may not exist so the report will be re-formated to fit the default driver on the server, or if no driver exists, it will use an internal method to format the report.
    Try this as a test.
    1) Open your report in the CR 2008 designer.
    2) Click on the File/Page Setup.
    3) Select the "No Printer" option.  This tells the report to use this internal method to format the report
    4) Save this document as "Title - No Printer"
    5) Export it to Enterprise
    6) Test this report again.  Formatting should be identical in BOE vs CR.
    Keep in mind that when you change the driver in step 3, the report in the designer will re-format.  You may need to tweak the report again in order for the formatting to be as desired.
    Test this out and if you require further assistance with this, I would suggest opening a message.  This is a common issue and a support engineer could likely help you with this pretty easily.
    Hope this helps,
    Jb

  • Report printing issue after upgrading from LV 8.2 to LV 2009

    Hello,
    I am upgrading an application from LabView 8.2 to LabView 2009. It uses the Report Generation Toolkit to create reports based on Word templates. The reports are pretty complicated, with a lot of bookmarks, tables, and graphs, but only one page long.
    The reports are generated correctly. However when sent to printing (using Print report.vi), the printer goes into spooling status and if you are patient enough you may get the report after at least 7 minutes. I tried changing the printer setting to "Print directly to the printer", as per an old KnowledgeBase article. No luck. I have installed a local printer. No luck again.
    If I close the LabView application while the printer is shown in spooling status, the report prints right away, every time.
    Never had this issue in LabView 8.2. On that machine I had Office XP. Now I have Office 2007...
    I do not get any error whatsoever, and I cannot figure out where the solution may be.
    I have one single report that prints right away every time I try. Coincidence or not, this is the only one that has no tables to print. It has graph though and plenty of bookmarks.
    I have exhausted all the ideas on how to deal with this situation, and I must find a solution ASAP. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Brandon,
    Thanks for your input.
    Not sure how I can use it to narrow down the problem though. I ran it, and I see that the printers are correctly identified, the default one is correctly found, however absolutely nothing is being printed out (I typed a text in the string control, and the Print control was on).
    Everything runs with no errors. I would prefer to see a bunch of errors ...

  • Reports exported to Excel - Formatting issues

    We have two Business Objects Enterprise servers (boxi r2 and boxi r3.1 sp3) running side by side.  We find that reports created using boxi r2 and exported to Excel format look fine.  When we run the same report and export to excel using boxi r3.1 sp3, we encounter the following formatting issues:
    <ol>
    <li>All columns do not fit on pages.  The last 2 to 3 columns spill over onto extra pages.</li>
    <li>There are some columns where most of the values are blank, but when a row is exported that has a value in that column, all subsequent column positions for that row shift.</li>
    <li>All rows do not fit on page.  The last two rows flow onto a new page, then there seems to be a page break.</li>
    <li>On some reports dates are displayed as ######.</li>
    <li>On some reports column headings are  not centered.</li>
    <li>I would appreciate any input that would help us determine a fix for the formatting issues we are encountering.</li>
    </ol>
    The report is executed using CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.
    Here is the code from the application that does the export:
                                ExportOptions exportOptions = new ExportOptions();
                                exportOptions.ExportFormatType = ExportFormatType.Excel;
                                exportOptions.ExportDestinationType = ExportDestinationType.DiskFile;
                                DiskFileDestinationOptions diskOptions = new DiskFileDestinationOptions();
                                diskOptions.DiskFileName = filename + ".xls";;
                                exportOptions.ExportDestinationOptions = diskOptions;
                                ExcelFormatOptions XLOptions = new ExcelFormatOptions();
                                XLOptions.ExportPageBreaksForEachPage = true;
                                XLOptions.ExportPageHeadersAndFooters = ExportPageAreaKind.OnEachPage;
                                exportOptions.ExportFormatOptions = XLOptions;
                                rptDoc.Export(exportOptions);

    Umm, the code you provided has nothing to do with Business Objects Enterprise...(?). So, I'm a bit confused by the mention of BOE and "The report is executed using CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine" in essentially one paragraph.
    Can you pls explain?

  • Wide Report printing issue

    Hello everyone,
    I have a wide report in pdf and spreadsheet format. It has too many columns. It does not even fit on a legal size paper. I am using reports 10g to develop this report.
    When I print the pdf format on legal paper, the report is shrunk to fit the page and the fonts are really small. Do you know of anyway to print this report on 2 separate pages side by side instead of one page? Or do you have any ideas on how to make this report print better with a font that is easily readable?
    Thanks
