Reports in MSS

By using the standard delivered report workset in MSS, any R/3 report can be called in MSS. However it launches the ITS server, request log-in to the SAP R/3 system and then presents the information in the traditional SAPGUI format.
How can interactive reports ( where I need to select the org unit, personnel number etc.) be designed as a Java iview ?

Any report that you write in ABAP has to run in ABAP context. You can easily view this reports via ITS(SAP Gui for HTML) or SAP Gui. If you need to pull this reports in JAVA then you will have to write a RFC function module to execute this report and pass the (formatted)data back to JAVA. Java will then render this formatted data.
You also skip the ABAP part and rewrite all this report completely in JAVA where it will only get the data from SAP via RFC. Formatting and reporting will done on the java side.

BW reports for MSS via Portal

Hello,
I'm trying to start BW report from MSS without any luck.
I created a function code for the report with function type BWR3 in R/3 IMG for Manager's desktop.
I Enterd the function code in table T77MWBBWS (the table is not in the IMG !) with :
object type = 'O', Reference char. = 0ORGUNIT ,
BW rep.temp. ID = ZHR_ZHOP (the tecnical name of the BW report).
When trying to start the report from Portal-MSS i get error message
" java.lang.NullPointerException "
I don't know if I created the function code correctly (On documentation
only example for SAP Quary Report exist).

I am having same issue. I want to integrate custom BI Query in MSS but its giving null pointer exception even after maintaining entries in T77*BW table.
I am hoping that you could have solved issue by now. If yes, please share end to end configuration steps.
Appriciate your help as we are near to Go-Live and became show-stopper.

Error in MSS Report (Using MSS Reporting Launch Pad)

Hello,
I'm currently using the convert manager's desktop data to MSS report launch pad for the portal.
When trying to run the report in MSS, I'm getting the error below:
"Error in Manager Self Service. When calling the report, the following error occured. Error when executing query Z_ABCD." This is from an SAP Query report and I could not determine what caused this error.
Have anyone encounter this and if you are able to resolve it?
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Use
In this activity you can make the following settings (for systems with a Release higher than SAP BW 3.x):
You can set your own Web template as the standard Web template for ad hoc analysis.
You can set your own Web template as a standard Web template for BEx Broadcasting.
You can set a Web template that is used during BEx Broadcasting for queries for generating documents.
You can specify a Web template that is used during BEx Broadcasting for enterprise reports.
You can set your own Web template as a standard Web template for reports.
Standard settings
The delivered standard Web template (0ANALYSIS_PATTERN) is used for ad hoc analysis.
The delivered standard Web template 0BROADCASTING_TEMPLATE is used for BEx Broadcasting.
The delivered standard Web template 0QUERY_TEMPLATE_BROADCASTING70 is used for broadcasting queries.
The delivered standard Web template 0REPORT_TEMPLATE_BROADCASTING is used for broadcasting reports.
The delivered standard Web template 0REPORT_DEFAULT_TEMPLATE is used for executing enterprise reports.
Activities
To set your own Web template as a standard Web template for ad-hoc analysis, enter the technical name of the Web template under Ad-hoc Analysis. If you do not specify anything, the delivered standard Web template (0ANALYSIS_PATTERN) will be used for ad-hoc analysis.
To set your own Web template as a standard Web template for BEx Broadcasting, enter the technical name of the Web templates under Broadcasting.
To set your own Web template as a standard Web template for BEx Broadcasting for queries for the generation of documents, enter the technical name of the Web templates under Query Precalculation.
To set your own Web template as a standard Web template for reports, enter the technical name of the Web template under Enterpr. Reports.
Note that if you change settings, you have to restart the J2EE Engine before the changes become effective.

Custom reports in MSS

Dear SDN Community,
Can you please tell me how do I get the custom R/3 reports into MSS iviews. Do I need to customize anything in R/3 if I want to pull an existing R/3 report into portal. What are the MSS iViews that I should work here. I have no BW or any other custom reports but just R/3 custom reports.

Creating Reports in MSS

When looking at SAP Help it talks about specifying which reports can be selected by the manager in the Reporting iView. In Customizing for Managers Desktop (MDT), you therefore create an MDT scenario that defines a list of reports to be offered for selection.
However, we have no reports that have been configured in MDT? Do we need to create some reports for use in MDT so we can use reporting in MSS?
Or is there another way of configuring reports in MSS?

Dear King,
Please execute this steps before the executing the steps i have mentioned above, this will activate the reports used for MSS. Then gofor moving the unwanted reports unactive folder. Just what you have to do it select the unwanted report and move it down to the inactive folder.
1.     In the SAP HCM System choose:
SAP Easy Access Menu
Transaction     SE38
2.     In the ABAP Editor: Initial Screen enter the Program FPB_LP_WRITE_ENTRIES and choose Execute.
3.     In the Report FPB_LP_WRITE_ENTRIES screen select the MSS Reporting and MSS with Folders options and deselect the checkbox Test Run.
4.     Choose Execute. The sample entries are entered in the Report Launchpad in the portal.
5.     Log on to the portal with User manager1 and check if the sample entries are displayed.
6.     In the ECC system leave the transaction and go back to the SAP Easy Access Menu.
7.     Enter transaction PWPC_CONV_MDT_TO_LPA in the Command field.
8.     In the Report to convert MDT table entries to LPA table entries screen, enter the MDT Scenario RPT0 and deselect the Test run checkbox.
9.     Choose Execute. The list in the next screen shows the reports which have been added to the Report Launchpad.
Do not forget to select MSS with Folders for the FPB_LP_WRITE_ENTRIES report. Otherwise you may get short dumps while editing the report launchpad, because the reports coming from the Manageru2019s Desktop do not have folders.

Show reports in MSS

Hey guys,
if I wanna display the workset reports under MSS I get the following error message:

What causes this message and what can I do to fix it?

Regarding WBS Transactional Report in MSS-Financials

My standard WBS Transactional Report in MSS-Financials does not work anymore.
When I click on the WBS transactional report I get a report which I have saved in my favourites. This is not normal. Can anyone please reply for me why this is happening?

BW Report Error - MSS (Headcount Report)

Hi,
We just installed MSS on our ERP 2005 system. When I log into the portal the Headcound report has a short dump. Below find the dump message. Can someone please help me on how to fix this bug.

Hi Salim, sorry for the delay but I was in transit...
Check the following <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/5523">weblog</a>. It has some useful information about the parameters needed for BW integration. The error you are getting is from the portal appintegrator component, not from BW. So you should check the parameters you are setting.

Custom Reports in MSS Reports iView

I've looked all over for the answer to this. I've pulled a custom report through the MSS Reports iView, however, the selection criteria (personnel numbers and orgs) are not being passed. The custom rpt is being displayed at the selection screen for the custom rpt. Do I have to do something additional on the custom rpt, like remove the select screen? Is there something I'm missing in the config for the iView? Thanks!

Reports in MSS... Same as Ad-hoc query??

Hi experts.
I have developed some reports in Ad-Hoc Query that pulls through HR data into MSS... If I create subtotals on my report in Ad-hoc query then I can collapse and expand data per employee which would be really cool for managers to use also...
As standard would this functionality be replicated in the MSS Portal?? Or would the data come through is a standard table of data?? does it depend on the portal at all?
Any ideas on how we could test this or even implement it would be great. We have managers with 4-5 employees but each employee has possible 10+ absence quotas (don't ask why) so if the manager could see an overview per employee and then expand for a single employee it would be a really great solution.

How to start WAD report from MSS with Hierarchy ?

I have a WAD Report that the parameters for it are: Org unit - as the root, and a year/month.
The report receive an org unit and display data for it and for all org units under it in the Org. structure.
I start the report from the MSS.
In R/3 in table T77MWBBWS I created an entry for that report with Reference char. = "ORG_STRU" instead of "0orgunit".
The report ignores the Org unit that I choose from the MSS selection screen, and starts with the Root Org unit of my Org structure.
What to do in order to start the report with the Org unit that i select and to get results for all the org. units under it ?

We have the latest ECC 6.0 and MSS. we would like to display few standard reports from ECC through MSS. Could anybody give some pointers how to start configuring this. I know there is something called MSS report launch pad and all that .

Integration with mySAP.com components -> Business Packages/Functional Packages -> MSS (mySAP ERP) -> Reporting -> Set Up Launch Pad.
go to change mode
1. Click on top most folder . on the app tool bar. click on the button which says new folder. For eg say employee data. save
2. click on the folder in the eg - employee data. Now click on new application icon on the application tool bar. your new application is the report that you want to add.
3. you have various options in the application category - choose transaction. Enter the transaction name of the report. fill the link text etc.
You will have to play with this config and you will get it.
