Repository-jdeveloper combination

Hi: can anyone tell me how can I open a jdeveloper project from the repository.
Supose that machine 1 create a project and add it to the repository, then it can check it out with no problem. But if machine 2 connects to the repository it can4t check the project out. I try the following, I open the project from the repository, it was checked out but it could not be downloaded.
How should I do it? How can I share entire projects with the repository?
Thanks

Hi,
A project is just a file like any other, so it can be version controlled in Repository.
On the first machine, you should add your .jpr file to source control along with all the files in the project (the easiest way to do this is use the "Add Contents" Source control context menu, and make sure the "show myproject.jpr" checkbox is checked). You may be asked to create a folder mapping depending on the location of the files.
Now, on the second machine, use the RON to create a folder mapping to the same top level folder in Repository that was created as a result of adding the project from the first machine. Use the Synchronize... context menu in the RON on the top level folder. This will bring the project and all its files down to the filesystem of the second machine.
Next, start JDeveloper and open the project file from the downloaded directory. You should be able to check in / out the project and any of the files it contains from either machine.

  • Can't connect to SVN repository JDeveloper 11.1.1.1.0

    Hi
I have problems connecting to my Subversion googlecode.com repository with JDeveleoper 11g. I can connect to it using tools like NetBeans, TortoiseSVN and even JDeveloper 10.1.3.5.0, but in JDeveloper 11g it refuses to connect.
I have tried setting it up on a different pc using the same repository and credentials, and it works there. I have no firewall or closed ports that could be blocking anything.
I also tried removing JDeveloper completely and installing the complete configuration again, no help.
This is the error I get:
Testing read access for repository https://xxx.googlecode.com/svn/trunk...
svn: CONNECT request failed on 'http://emeacache.uk.oracle.com:80'

I'm very confused, can anybody help? :)

I had "fixed" the problem by replacing the svn module of the 11g version by that of 10g and it would grant me access.
So now I replaced svn version with the original 11g version again to test without the proxy.
This was entered in the dialog that you mentioned:
    [x] Use HTTP Proxy Server
    emeacache.uk.oracle.com on port 80
I removed the tick off in Use HTTP Proxy Server and I can now connect with 11g.
Howcome there's even a proxy server typed in there, where does it come from? :)
Removing the proxy also made the Check for Updates work a lot better, half the time it wouldn't even find any updates etc.

  • Inference control with oracle

    Hi,
I need for my master thesis a possibility to realize inference control with oracle.
For example exist an instance R like
    R &#8194; | &#8194; A &#8194;&#8194; B &#8194;&#8194; C
    &#8194; &#8194; | &#8194;a1 &#8194; b1 &#8194; c1
    &#8194; &#8194; | &#8194;a2 &#8194; b1 &#8194; c2
and a secrecy such *(exists X) R(a1, b1, X)*. With VPD under column hiding can defined this secrecy so that the data combination *(A:a1, B:b1)* be hidden from the instance:
    R &#8194; | &#8194;A &#8194;&#8194; B &#8194;&#8194; C
    &#8194; &#8194; | &#8194; &#8194;&#8194;&#8194; &#8194; &#8194;&#8194; c1
    &#8194; &#8194; | &#8194;a2 &#8194;b1 &#8194; c2
The Problem is that a safe query like *(exists X)(exists Y) R(a1, X, Y)* was not answered, when the user makes a query
    select A from R where A=a1;
Cause this query is a safe query with respect to the secrecy, the answer must not be hidden.
    Safe means
    *(exists X)(exists Y) R(a1, X, Y) NOT MODELS OF (exists X) R(a1, b1, X)*.
    How can I avoid this.
I tried to avoid that whit using "query rewriting" and "materialized view", but that was not successfull, because oracle doesn't rewrite the simple (without Aggregates and Joins) queries.
It will be greate when someone has an idea!
    Thanks

As curious as I always am, I was able to discover my XE database from the GC 10.1.0.4 last month. I did this because I asked myself the same question. When there is time, I normally will try everything that says "Not supported" or "Not compartible" to prove it right or wrong. So give it a go, but don't post errors from it here :-). I have not tried it for GC 10.2.0.2, but it worked on 10.1.0.4 (hopefully 10.1.0.3).
Remember, XE has all the features of EE, but a cutdown version. It has an Oracle Service and a Listener on a port, so the agent will pick them up. I have tried all possible things and tools (Forms, Reports, Designer Repository, Jdeveloper, SQL Developer, ODBC, JDBC etc) on XE to break it, but it works like EE. The only difference is when you hit the max allowed 4GB (excluding 1GB system) and I proved the limit right by kicking of a data load into a table using a cursor until it hit the maximum 4GB limit error.

  • Looking for clarification on ADF 12.1.2 WLS support

What versions of WLS supports ADF 12.1.2? If there is support for 11g, are there any documentation on how to install the ADF 12 Runtime?
    Oracle JDeveloper 12c Support&lt;/title&gt;&lt;meta name=&quot;Title&quot; content=&quot;Oracle JDeveloper 12c Support&q…
    Application Servers
The following table shows application servers supported by JDeveloper and ADF. Application Server support for JDeveloper is provided for connecting and deploying directly to the server as well as debugging. For ADF, it refers to servers that ADF applications can be deployed to.
    Application Server
    JDeveloper
    ADF
    Oracle Fusion Middleware (WLS)
    10.3.5+, 12.1.2
    12.1.2
    GlassFish
    3.1+
    3.1 (ADF Essentials)
    WebSphere
    8.x
    JBoss
    5
    Tomcat
    7
    Oracle Cloud
    13.1

I'm not hearing any oracle responses, thus I can only assume what Timo said is the closest to that fact.
Here is what I know about what a production ready standalone WLS 12c with ADF Runtime 12.1.2 entails:
-a domain running on WLS 12.1.2 needs JRF & Coherence to be installed in order to run ADF 12.1.2 https://forums.oracle.com/thread/2559381
-JRF & Coherence on WLS 12.1.2 needs a RCU database repository JDeveloper 12c & Standalone WLS w/ADF Runtime 12.1.2
-WLS 12.1.2 is only certified to run on Oracle DB 11.1.0.7+ http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/ias/downloads/wls-1211x-certmatrix-1395408.xls
    Does that sound about right?
I hope I'm wrong and someone can guide me to easier setup. It seems that getting a standalone WLS server to run ADF has gotten harder with every new release!
I can get a standalone WLS 10.3.5 up with ADF 11.1.2.4 in ~3mins
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TG6wqrFVY00
WLS 10.3.6 with ADF 11.1.2.4 requires 2 additional console applied patches ontop of the 11.1.1.6 runtime installer. (Corrected from false version of 11.1.1.7)
WLS 12.1.2 with ADF 12.1.2 - I have not attempted but it seems to be even more involved than the previous.

  • Deploying applications to glassfish using Maven.

    Hello,
I am both a glassfish and maven newbie.
I want to know if there's away to automatically deploy my .war in glassfish via the .pom file.
(My current solution: an ant script to copy my target .war to glassfish/domains/domain1/autodeploy is not the best;)
    Thanks,

You aren't forced to use Maven's project structure actually.
When I first tried Maven (after years of using Ant) I was annoyed by the perception that I must conform to Maven. However, the default location for such things as the ${project.build.outputDirectory} are just that - defaults for those who favour convention over configuration. You can of course override them (as I still do for the artifact output directory) and even do so in a super pom for al your projects so they can be automatically inherited.
Maven is more than just a dependency management tool though - it is a build sequencer. This perhaps more powerful if a more subtle aspect to appreciate. Once you devote a small amount of time to learn how to get the best out of Maven (read Better Builds With Maven as a good starting point) you will not want to go back to Ant - I haven't yet.
As far as finding JARs is concerned this is just as time consuming with Maven as with any other means of meeting library dependencies. I find two things useful here: one is iGoogle and a plugin for it called "javacio.us search"; the other is using a local proxy such as Nexus which also indexes the repository. Combined with an IDE such as IDEA or Eclipse which have good Maven support including artifact autocompletion this makes locating the right versions of artifacts quite easy.Apache Archiva is another very good Maven proxy. As for finding libraries, I just bang "<dependency name> maven ibiblio" into Google, and let it do the heavy lifting. Never failed me yet. What is annoying is when groupIds change between versions. Yes, Hibernate, I'm looking at you.....

  • UML modeling & coding

    Hi,
I consider JDeveloper a good java tool. But I would like to know if it can be considered a good Modeling tool. Historically, forms was the coding tool whilst designer was the modeling one. Is JDev playing both roles?
I would like to see a tutorial on how use JDev to fully develop an application (obviously a simple one): Analysis, design, code generation (SQL to create schemas and Java for classes), is that possible? Or am I being to optimistic?
Apart from that, I also would like to know, how JHeadstart can be included in that?
    Thanks. Miquel.

JDeveloper combines both modeling and development into a single tool. This way your code and your model are always in synch.
If you want a tutorial for building a complete application you can try the reviewer guide for Oracle9i JDeveloper:
    http://otn.oracle.com/products/jdev/htdocs/JDev903_ReviewersGuide.zip
Or one of the tutorials on this page:

  • Meta Integration Model Bridge(MIMB)

    Hello,
I am interested in the Metadata issues. After some research, I find some ideas, which in summary propose to use the Meta Integration Model Bridge (MIMB).
In the documentation of OWB, it is mentionned to install the (MIMB) from the site http://www.metaintegration.net
But I couldn't find the download page (even if a trial).
    Had somebody, used this product?
Thank you for giving me some ideas.
    Best Regards

    Hi,
So what are your metadata issues? Suggesting to use de MetaIntegration Bridges means you're really going to setup a metadata management solution? The MetaIntegration solution helps you to exchange de metamodel from OBIEE with other tools. But why?
You can export the repository metadata for impact and lineage yourself. Import with any ETL-tool and report on it with OBIEE.
No, it does not include a metamodel, but why do you need it?
That said, with market leading modelling tools you can already use the integrated metamodel for OBIEE. They aleady use the metaintegration solution to extract the metadata from the repository and combine/associate it with any other metamodel.
Example: Combine the physical layer of your repository with the columns in de dictionary of your database.
Also, with ODI and OWB 11g2 we are able to integrate the development of the repository.
With these metamodels connected you are able to develop a process to interprete the metadata and process it like any other data source.
    Cheers.

  • How do I add files to a local Subversion repository using JDeveloper?

    Hi Guys and Gals,
Using Studio Edition Version 11.1.1.3.0. Extension "Version Support for Subversion 11.1.1.3.37.56.60".
I'm getting into creating my first "real" JDeveloper program and want to implement Subversion control. I've never done anything with version control software before so please go easy on me.
    Problem:
<ol>After my initial project import, I cannot add any new files to subversion since the "Add" icon remains grayed out.</ol>
    Process:
<ol>I'm working off the Oracle JDeveloper 11g Handbook step by step (pages 57-59). I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.
<li>Create a local repository by going to Versioning | Subversion | Create Local Repository. No problems</li>
<li>Select Versioning | Version Application. No problems again.</li>
<li>All my files now have a '1' by them, but no state icons. I do have a new window called "Versioning Navigator" that popped up showing my files and subversion connection.</li>
<li>I add a new file. It doesn't matter what type. From looking at the book and online sources, I should be able to right click the file or select Versioning | Subversion | Add to add the file, but the icons are grayed out on the main menu and on my right-click menu all I get is Versioning | Import Files or Versioning | Pending Changes. There are no pending changes in my Pending Changes window.</li></ol>
    What gives?

    Lovett,
Not sure what you mean by "Integrated?" I'm guessing that what you are probably doing is creating a local repository - that will be OK for just learning and playing about on a single machine, but not for working in a team. I'd seriously recommend installing a SVN server (really, it's quite easy if you use VisualSVN - it's just run the installer and go), as it will be what you must use if you are working in a team environment. For learning - just run the SVN server on the JDeveloper machine - it's what I did when I wrote the articles.
But yes, I understand the desire to keep it simple. You should be able to do most of the stuff in the ADF Essentials series (except for log in as different users) with a local repository.
    Best,
    John

  • JDeveloper and Subversion - Cannot Connect To Repository

    Using JDeveloper 11.1.1.6.
I have a Subversion repository set up on a server that I can connect to from my local machine using the appropriate URL.
When I attempt to set up the repository connection in JDev, I get a "Connection Refused" error.
I am using the http protocol.
If it works using a straight URL from a browser, why doesn't JDeveloper connect to it using that same URL?

    Timo,
Thanks for the info but installing 1.6 generates the same error.
    Here is my config:

  • JDeveloper and Designer 6i Repository

I don't understand the reasoning behind the need to install Designer 6i in order to use JDeveloper in a 6i repository. If the repository you're using is remote (on a server vs local PC), and you won't be doing any work using Designer, why should you need to take up the space on your PC to install it?

As John correctly states, various things you might need to do as a developer (create workareas, create / merge branches) are only currently possible through the RON. In addition, we invoke other tools such as the Dependency Manager which are part of the Repository client install.
However, you don't have to install the whole of Designer. This is a bit confusing since Designer and Repository are still packaged together in the same installer and Repository is still not being properly marketed as a fully separate product (which it is). Early on during installation of "Designer", you will be prompted whether you want to install the whole of Designer or just Repository. For SCM in JDeveloper to work, you only need the Repository client side.
We're working on making the integration between JDeveloper and Repository tighter in a future release so that it is no longer necessary to install Repository client side.

  • Help: How to make JDeveloper to connect to Oracle repository through CMAN?

    Hi folks,
I have a very dummy problem.
    I have JDeveloper on Linux.
I have on Oracle SCM Repository in a database, which is across WAN.
The database is accessible through connection manager.
BUT HOW DO I EXPLAIN TO JDEVELOPER , that there is a Connection Manager. It only allows me to enter host:port:sid. It doesn't allow me to enter custom JDBC URL.
    This is really missing functionality...
    Please help me,
    Regards,
    Mihail Daskalov

The support for Oracle SCM in JDeveloper can only connect via thin JDBC. This always requires a host, port and SID. The limitation is due to underlying limitations in the libraries we use to connect to Oracle SCM.
Is your database connection using OCI? We have an existing enhancement request for OCI support (2700757), but let me know if it's another connection type, and I'll add that to the ER.
    Thanks,
    Brian
