Requirements:
You need the following packages from your linux distribution: winelib (or wine-devel), openal, opengl, libjpeg, libvorbisfile and zlib
Notes:
- OpenGL version >= 1.3 is required.
- wine version >= 0.9.2 is required (http://winehq.com).
- I don't know if q2e linux works on 64 bits linux systems or not. My laptop has a pentium-m CPU.
- I have gcc version 4.0.2, gcc version < 4.0 might not compile
Compiling linux Q2E:
Simply type "make" in the folder where you unpack q2e_040_linux.zip. If the compile is succesful, you'll have the following three files: q2e, q2e.exe.so, game/gamei386.so
Notes:
- If you have a NVidia card and have compile errors related to gl.h, please add -DWINGDIAPI="" to the end of line 13 (CFLAGS=...) of the file Makefile in your q2e_040_linux directory and try to compile again.
Setting-up and running Q2E:
Go to your home directory and type
mkdir quake2
mkdir quake2/baseq2
Copy the q2e and q2e.exe.so (that you just compile) to quake2, and copy gamei386.so to quake2/baseq2.
Copy(or link) standard quake2 *.pak files (pak0.pak, pak1.pak, pak2.pak) into your quake2/baseq2 directory.
Download q2e_040 pak files, q2e_pak0.pk2, q2e_extras.pk2 and q2e_enhanced_hud.pk2(optional), from quake2evolved.com to your baseq2 directories.
Go to your quake2 directory and type
./q2e

If you get the package working. Stick it in the AUR and maybe it'll get put in untable/testing for a while. Then maybe into extra.

The problem is that I don't know what my opinion is, I didn't get the chance to test the program. Still missing libs . Newbie's life is a shit I tell you.

Could not get which push button you have mentioned.I'm using the HTTP2_POST FM to send the request to google app engine.There is java code running on google app engine which has servlet request method getting request body from HTTP2_POST and in return java sends response to SAP using servlet response.The reponse comes in xml type text.When the request is sent to the google app engine there is no log update on the engine site when the request is sent;there is error on sap side at the time of response as there is no suitable data coming.

Report server engine (9.0.2.0.3)

Hi all,
I would like to know whether the Report server Engine is multitasking or not. I installed Oracle application server 9.0.2.03 on a NT2000 environment, and I have two server engine running. If I have 4 or more user requests and if the first report takes long time to retrieve the data from the database, does the server engine attends to another request or does the engine waits for the first report to get over before attending the second request.
Frequently I am getting the following message, while running report with 2 sessions. (even though my report should not take more than 1 min)
Running the report Formatting page 1. Please wait.(report format is PDF)
And to come out of this situation, I need to restart the report server.
If i try to cancel the job, I get a message
'Cannot kill job with Job ID REP-59068:Bad Engine name:null'

hello,
an engine can only process one job at any given time. out of the box the reports server is configured to run one reports engine and one URL engine.
if you want to increase the number of report engines, modify the minEngines and maxEngines parameter in the server configuration file.
a rule-of-thumb is you can have 4x the number of CPUs in your machine. of course you can have less or more than that. but you might run into disadvantages where more engines will actually use up too much resources and result in less performance.

Content engine 510 - transparent proxy stand-alone

Hello to all,
after studying architecture examples about Content Engine 510, I found that there is two modes:
1) standard proxy
2) transparent proxy
I need the transparent architecture !
But every example about transparent mode seems to include a router or a switch with a particular level of software, that can send http requests to the Content Engine to have cache.
I don't have any of these components.
I simply need to have a Content Engine that receive any kind of IP protocols on one ethernet, and route it to the other ethernet plug, except that if it is http protocol, it will cache the pages.
Is is simply impossible to configure the Content Engine 510 that way ?
Is the transparent proxy mode always requires a router or a switch to give it the http flow ?
If it is possible, where can I find some configuration examples ?

Olivier,
You'll need to have a router running wccp in order to redirect http requests to the cache. Withouth this, the cache has no visibilty of traffic on your LAN.

Is there any failover/load balancing among kjs engines on a single ias server?

I guess the question pretty much says it all. To be more explicit, if a kjs engine crashes, would all requests in progress be re-attempted on a different kjs?
Also, at what level is the user session information stored (kjs, kxs)?

Yes, we do have a load balancing mechanism between the KJSs in a single instance of the appserver. Requests from the kxs engine will be load balanced in a round robin fashion to the KJS engines.
Note that if a KJS engine crashes, then the requests will be directed to the other KJS engines, but if the KJS engine is 'hanging', then this redirection does not happen.
If the sessions are distributed, then they are stored in the KXS, but if they are lite, then they are stored in the KJS engine.

I'm sending through a Java program a sequence of requests
to Google search engine. the problem is that after couple of dozens
of requests, I get the an error (how can I attach a file here?)... what can I do?
I have about 80,000 requests...

Google is a business. They get to set the terms.
So if you want to use them then you need to do it the way that they want. And they are pretty flexible on how they do things.
And it doesn't seem to me that ajax is the only way to do it, such as the following which is one in about 10 ways.

Add and Group Graphic Styles, Brushes, Patterns to Libraries - Request

The addition of cloud Libraries is fantastic; currently dragging any object in a library to a new document brings anything in that object such as appearances, graphic styles, brushes, patterns, etc., into that document along with it. Great!
I'm submitting a feature request that would evolve the libraries to allow for dragging brushes, pattern swatches, graphic styles, etc., into the Library of choice, allowing the designer to include all of these in a project library, for example. It would also be great to be able to group these together, or sort them, possibly into sub-folders if someone chooses. It would save a step of having to drag an object containing those elements onto the artboard, plus the user would be able to view distinct elements associated with a project (brushes, styles, etc.) for a more top level view of what pre-styled elements have been saved to the libraries. Start your engines

Ive heard talk of things called "game engines" such as the Quake engine, and i was just wondering, as a seasoned gamer (rather embarressed to be asking this), what exactly is a game engine? and can one be writtin in Java? thanks for clearing this up for me.

Imagine a car- it has the stuff you interact with- the controls and so on, it has the general aesthetic appearance and it has an engine underneath it all that powers the whole thing. The name pretty much describes it. There are different types of engine as well, to do different things - the most common meaning of "Game Engine" is the 3D engine that handles the graphics and interactions in a virtual world. That is what the Quake and Unreal engines you will have heard so much about are. There are also Physics Engines that describe how objects interact on a physical level - the name you may have heard here is Havoc, which helped the bodies you ploughed into in GTA go flying realistically among many other applications.
If you take out all the objects in a 3D universe and the interface with it, so you basically have the code framework to fit the objects into then what you have been left with is the engine.
It is possible to write anything in Java that can be written in any language - Java3D is actually a 3d engine, although it may not be suited to every gaming project. If you want to roll your own why not head over to http://www.javagaming.org and talk to the lwjgl guys there- they have a handy and fast Java-OpenGL library that would be an ideal starting point.

System Properties user.timzone different between dev. and prod. system

I am facing the following issue:
In our development system I get in http://<server:port>/sap/monitoring/SystemProperties -> dispatcher -> system properties a Europe/Berlin for user.timezone.
In our productive system I get in http://<server:port>/sap/monitoring/SystemProperties -> dispatcher -> system properties a GMT for user.timezone.
Can anybody explain which system property is requested by the J2EE-engine when calling this property?
I ask, because I wrote a small programm requesting the user.property via java (expecting j2ee-engine would do that too) an got back an empty string (on both systems).
So, how/where can I change the parameter, so that the development system uses GMT, too?
I already checked the spro settings in sap, they are identical. System -> status showes the same for both systems, too.
I hope for your help.

I checked the system variables with TA SM51 ->goto -> server -> information -> environment.
There is nothing like the TZ variable on both systems (we use Linux).
Do you have an other idea?
How can I change the user.timezone shown in Java system properties?

Reports 6i integration questions

Reports Services is registered as an application in Portal and that
registration includes a number of parameters which control the idle time of
each report engine process, the total number of report engine processes to
run at any one time and the number of requests each process should service
before gracefully exiting.
My question is this: assuming that we have a configuration with a maximum of
1 reporting engine process and we have 100 users request reports at the same
time. The first request goes to the engine, which starts working on it.
1. I presume that the other 99 requests are queued until the reporting
engine process can get around to them. Is that correct?
2. If the requests are queued, what feedback does the user get? A nice
screen saying "Your report has been queued, you are number 29 in the queue"?
3. Can we configure the portal / reports services to output the report to a
particular place in the portal so users who have had reports queued can
retrieve them when they have had a chance to be serviced by the report
engine process?

I believe one of the first items I would check is that the candidate knows how to use OTN and Metalink. This includes whether or not he or she knows which forum to post in for various questions. ;)
Okay...in all seriousness, let me say this. Why ask silly questions that do not pertain to your business just because some "expert" said one should know it.
Why not take this approach:
1) Decide exactly what you're looking for in your candidate.
2) Have them, as part of the interview process, come in for a day and write a couple of reports for you. It doesn't have to be anything extravagent. In fact, it could be a report that is already written.
This will show you if the person is qualified to do the job. It will also show you other things as well including, but not limited to, how they interact with others in a group, etc.
Just because someone can spout off an answer they read in a book doesn't mean that they can do the job. Also, on this flip side, just because a person can't answer some theoretical question doesn't mean they can do the job.

How to generate two different analog signal in two different VIs

I'm using a PCIe-6321 board and a SCB-68 connector block. As it has two analog output I would like to use one of these output in one Vi to generate a square waveform and the other output in another VI to generate a sine waveform. Each VI work perfectly separatly but if I run one then the other, the second one doesn't send any signal. Since I don't want to merge the two VIs (It's more convenient to operate them separatly), how can I figure out to make them work together (sometimes).

I assume you get error -50103 (resource is reserved) at either on vi.
It's not possible to run two AO channels independetly from each other with different VIs since both Tasks are trying to request the same timing engine at the DAQ device.

SSAS using datasource at query time

I have a set of reports that run against the cube. The cube has proactive caching enabled. If the datasource within the SSAS database has invalid credentials, queries against the cube will not run. Note: SSAS is setup to run as network
service rather than a domain account (temporary situation).
My understanding of MOLAP is that the data is stored within the cube an no access to the source (sql server datamart) is needed for the user to run queries against the cube. Now this is proving to not be true... leaving me feeling like I don't know
what is going on at all. After 7 years using SSAS I'm finding out that the user's queries don't actually run against the cube, they require that ssas be able to connect to its source data to satisfy the query???!?!?!??!?
I really really don't understand this, but I have tested repeatedly and when I set the datasource to invalid credentials, report queries won't run or just return 0's. Earlier we were getting 08001 "can't connect to server" messages, now I'm
just getting all 0's on the reports when the datasource credentials are invalid.
Just to make this 100% clear, I am talking about the SSAS datasource within the SSAS database, not the SSRS datasource that points to the cube. Has anyone ever seen this before? To make it more confusing, now it seems to be working in excel regardless
but SSRS still needs the valid datasource.

The data source credential of SSAS cube you specified in SSMS was use to retireve data from relational database. For example, we will need to update cube data or some MDX queries need to get data from relational DB. The Analysis Services querying architecture
provides several components that work together to efficiently retrieve and evaluate data, please see:
When we query a cube, the query processor breaks the query into subcube requests for the storage engine. For each subcube request, the storage engine first attempts to retrieve data from the storage engine cache. If no data is available in the cache, it
attempts to retrieve data from an aggregation. If no aggregation is present, it must retrieve the data from the fact data from a measure group’s partition data.
In your case, I recommend you use SQL Server Profiler to capture SSAS and Database Engine events for further investigation. If the SSRS reports need to get data from relational database, we will get detail information in this scenario. For more information

Calling Reports From Forms

i'm trying to call a Report from a Form but i'm getting the error:

I'm using Reports Server 9i (9.0.2.3) and Forms Server 6i.

I've already commented out the <security> section, and uncommented the <compatible version="6i"> in <reports_server>.conf file. The rwproxy service is up and running on port 1949 and i'm using SIGLE_SIGN_ON=NO in rwservlet.properties file.
What could be wrong??

To call Reports9i from Forms6i it needs to be configured for backward compatibility. this means that your Reports9i server must run as if it was a 6i server.
The following is from an unpublished paper I wrote on this topic:
Using Reports9i with Forms 6i

To be able to call Reports9i Services from a Forms6i client, an extra Reports server process must be created. Oracle9iAS Reports Services knows of two kinds of Reports Server processes. The in-process server is started the first time that a Reports is requested from the Web by
the Reports Servlet rwservlet. This Reports Server process cannot be used with Forms using Run_Report_Object and therefore a separate Reports Server process must be started prior to using it.
This can be done by issuing he following command from the Oracle9iAS/bin directory rwserver <servername> batch=yes & (UNIX)or rwserver -install <service name> (WINDOWS)In both cases, the first time that the Reports Server starts, a Reports configuration file <servername>.conf (UNIX) or <service_name>.conf (WINDOWS) is created in the Oracle9iAS/reports/conf directory.
To use Reports9i Services form a Forms6i client, this file needs some editing:
The Reports Sevices configuration file gets created with the first start of the Oracle9iAS Reports Services. The configuration settings in this file determine the runtime behavior of the Reports Services.
Two changes need to be applied to this file to make Oracle9iAs Services work with Forms6i client-server applications. Make sure that the Reports Services process was stopped before opening the Reports Services configuration file, located in the Oracle9iAS/reports/conf directory, with a text editor. Configure the tnsnames.ora file on the client and the server

Oracle9iAS/network/admin directory on the server. Add the following entry to both files:

Open this file with a text editor and uncomment the following line by remiving the â€˜#â€™ character in front of it.

Change the value of this varible to No, so that the whole entry reads
SINGLESIGNON=NO.
Restart the Oracle9i Application Server, restarting the Oracle process monitor service (OPM), for the changes to take effect.
From now on the Reports Services does not require users to provide their single sign-on login password when retrieving the Report output
from the Web, which is one option of getting a Report back to the client.
* Note that you call the Servlet for retrieving the Reports output through web.show_document
