Requirement Gathering for Utilities Industry- Urgent

Dear Guru's
Very Urgent please
Can one of you please help me asap,
For SAP EHS to implement for Utilities customer what are point to be consideration ( Please not that this fresh green field implementation)
None of the other core modules has been implemented.!
Request you to send your value updates asap
Thanks for your time and support
Sia

Dear Sia
you are asking the wrong question. First: what type of industry is "utility customer")? Second: EHS is quite big. Therefore in most cases you start "small" and grow (with several projects).
As well you statement: None of the other core modules has been implemented.!
does not really help. Which module you are looking for to use ? SAP MM, SAP SD, SAP PP???
The topic "how so starte an "EHS" driven project is asked often here. The answer is quite difficult without knowing the specific demand.
E.g.check: SAP EHS Management for Beginners
You will find references to other similar threads asking this question. And honestly: all depends: which software will be used? e.g. will you use SAP ERP EnhPack 7? Will you use (is there a need for) on top "Component Extension for SAP EHS Management"?
Therefore. sorry: No answer to your question is possible
C.B.
PS: check in the document above Section: "How to start an EHS project?" This is not a complete refernce to other threads here asking the same / nearly the same question

• Requirements Gathering for a P2V project

Does anyone have an example of the kinds of requirements that need to be gathered from a client in preparation for a large scale P2V migration during the requirements gathering phase? For example,
R101: The customer would like to virtualize all physical servers that have less than 50% average CPU utilization
R102: The customer would like to virtualize all physical servers that are currently functioning as web servers
What are some other potential requirements that pertain to a P2V migration plan?

Thanks for your reply. Capacity Planner can gather only technical data from the systems, but not requirements from the people themselves.

• Field Business Area is a required field for GL account - urgent

Hi all,
we had created a new plant 3800. During configurations , business users created material for 3800 on 3000 and started purchase. Now after configurations, those materials had to be extended on plant 3800. Material have been extended but when the stock is transfered from 3000 to 3800 via MB1B , system says "
Field Business Area is a required field for GL account ICI 2201001".
Any idea that why this error comes? I have checked every thing, cudnt sought out.
Kindly help.

Hi
When you are transferring the material from one plant to other plant using mvt type 301 or 303/305 etc.,
there is a field selection variation between the mvt type and G/L account which was triggered for this Transaction. For mvt type 301, the filed Business area is not mandatory and for G/L account 2201001 the feild is mandatory.
You can resolve this by changing one of the field selection group, i.e. either MVt type or G/L account.to do this follow the procedure.
1.Go to SE38
2.Type program RM07CUFA
3.Execute the program
4.It will ask for Mvt type nad G/L account number, give the details and execute
5.System will display the difference between the two filed selection groups.
6.From the same screen , you can change the fileds option by selecting the error log.

• Process and Requirement Gathering for a SAP solution implementation

Hi All,
I don't know if this forum is right for my question, but can someone guide me on ....?
Assuming there is a greenfield project starting up, and the scope of implementation is SAP HCM: Is there a SAP best practice for gathering technical and functional requirements and process definition for SAP HCM system (PY, Time, PA, OM, ESS/MSS) for Great Britain country? (process models, requirements templates, questionnaire, identifying requirement gaps from standard SAP process etc.?)
Is there a methodology recommended on how to go about collecting and baselining these requirements? (workshops, schedule, resources, templates etc.)

• Difference xMAM and xMAM for Utilities?

Hello!
I downloaded the latest Version of xMAM3.0 for Utilities (SR 1 Hotfix 01) from SWDC . Then I deployed the XMAU.sda file on the server and then on the client. However, I found out that the user interface doesn't look like the one from the xMAM3.0 and the whole mam functionality is missing. Does xMAM for Utilities incorporate the functionality of both MAU and MAM? What is the difference between xMAM and xMAM for utilities?
Is there any other SDA-file I need to deploy? (I didn't find any in the downloaded package).
Thanks for you support and best regards
Reinhard

Hi Reinhard,
MAU is MAM extended for utilities industry. It is built on top of MAM, includes all MAM functionality and provides some extra, utilities specific, features, for example, connect/disconnect orders, meter readings, etc..
The difference is backend you need: MAM's backend is standard R/3 backend while MAU requires Utilities industry backend.
MAM3.0 has two different versions: laptop/PDA. As far as I know at the moment MAU only built based on PDA version. That is why if you compare MAM3.0 laptop and MAU (PDA by default) you might think that these are different applications. They are not, functionlaity between PDA and laptop versions are completely the same, they share DB, business logic layers, only UI is different.
MAU build should include everything you need, you do NOT have to deploy MAM and then MAU.

• HCM in an SAP for Utilities Landscape

If HCM were required in a Landscape running SAP for Utilities should HCM be run in the same ECC instance running Utilities or its own instance?
I appreciate that the answer may not be a simple yes/no but some guidance on the factors to take into consideration would be appreciated.
Many thanks in anticipation of a reply.

Narasimha,
many thanks for you reply. It's the assertion in your reply that IS-U "stands on a separate server" that I'm trying to understand. Is it always the case that IS-U should run on it's own ECC implementation?
My understanding of the switch framework is that you could run multiple cross industry solutions but only ever one industry solution on the same ECC in which case it should be okay for IS-U to run on the same ECC as HCM, but I'm relatively new to this so may have got the wrong end of a stick somewhere!

• Any tips at this Reporting requirement gathering stage?

Hello Experts,
I have 10 different sources of data which will mostly come to me in flat files.
Some of the data coming to me for UPDATE will be
1. daily, (3 of the sources)
2. weekly, (2 of the sources)
3. monthly (2 of the sources)
4. quarterly. (2 of the sources)
Some of the reporting requirements are (GENERATE REPORTS):
a) As needed i.e. on demand by managers
b) Monthly
c) Quarterly
I am still in the report requirement gathering phase and I would like some hints here:
Q1. What are the Dos and Don’ts?
Q2. Does it matter whether the various sources are loaded into Cubes or ODSes? Which is the better choices and for what reasons?
Q3. Any special guide on the frequency of Updates?
Q4. Can the data elements from the 10 sources be all placed in say, 2 or 3 dimensions and within a single Cube? Any advantages of this?
Q5. Can each of the data elements from the 10 sources be placed in say, 10 different ODSes? Any advantages of this?
Thanks in Advance.

Hi Amanda,
Actually, I’d split the process into those stages:
1. gathering report forms that users want to have and a frequency of report generation.
2. collection information on available sources of data
3. analysis: do the sources will provide all data for forms required – simultaneously the list of reports that would be possible to create is made. Here you can take into account not only availability of resources, but also budget/time/work force limitation. It’ll determine the scope of implementation.
4. Conceptual model (with parallel excersises in BW).
• If some reports (and data in them) are completely different, don’t having common information, then consider creating separate data providers.
• If some reports (and data in them) have something in common, then consider creating separate data providers with a multiprovider on them.
• If all data are linked to some key(s) (for example a document number), then consider creating a single cube
• Determine time granularity (are your weekly, monthly and quarterly data may be derived from the daily data? If yes, maybe these data (except daily) are redundant. If not, then probably these data supply some additional information to daily? – consider merging this additional info into daily cube (or probably through separate ODS or cubes).
So, it’s a somewhat an answer to Q2 and Q5.
Q3. You may load data just before (say a several days) the reports generation.
Q4. See above about single cube. Additionally, the rule of thumb is to have more little dimensions than few huge dimensions. Consider spreading out your chars into different dimensions. If you’ll be able to have all data in a single cube, it would give you an enormous flexibility in building reports (especially, not mandatory ones, but ad-hoc reports on demand).
Also you can visit www.saptips.com site. I downloaded “Tips on Implementing a BW-Based Management Reporting Solution (and Getting Your Users to Use It!)” but cannot find it in inet. If you want I can send it to you along with “SAP BW projects: dos and donts” (ppt-demo and transcript).
Best regards,
Eugene

• Technical Landscape For Utilities

Hi All, I was wondering if anyone had any learning points or gotcha's for designing the SAP for Utilities Technical Landscape. OUr project consists of CTI/IVR ,TOU, Retailer, Billing, Web integration . We currently run SAP FI, AM, HCM, and are looking to add CRM/I SU next Winter. I assume most information is passed between systems using PI ? If anyone has any info on the CRM middle ware piece or project suprises, I would be happy to know! Thanks.

Hi
All sales and marketing activities from the customer service area of IS-U have been transferred to CRM. Analyses previously performed in IS-U now run in BW.
CRM performs all activities relating to customer interaction. Various channels, such as call centers, Internet and laptops can be used to communicate with customers. Data objects are synchronized via the Middleware and exchanged with the backend and analysis systems.
CRM: Customer Interaction System
CRM is the front-end system used for interaction with the customer. It contains the full range of functions from the areas of marketing, sales, and customer retention. CRM supports communication with customers via a number of channels:
· Internet
Integration of Web-based applications (Internet sales and marketing) in the CRM system.
· Contact center
Integration of telephony systems in CRM via CTI interface. All call center scenarios are fully telephony-compatible.
· Mobile clients
The most important data and functions contained in CRM are accessible via laptop in offline applications. Data is synchronized with the online system via the Middleware.
IS-U: System for Device Management, Contract Accounts Receivable and Payable, Billing, and Invoicing
IS-U is the backend system. Information on new customers is not transferred to IS-U until a contract has been concluded with the customer. It contains all the data and transactions for the following areas: device management, contract accounts receivable and payable, billing, and invoicing.
These areas cover the installation of devices, calculation and request of budget billing amounts, entry of meter reading results, billing, invoicing, generation payment requests, and monitoring of payment receipts.
BW: System for Analyses, Planning, Monitoring, and Success Checks
BW: When integrated, serves as instrument for analyses, planning, monitoring, and success checks. BW enables you to gather information from any system (CRM, FI, IS-U as well as external systems) in InfoCubes and evaluate them based on your requirements. Furthermore, these analyses are not restricted to one InfoCube; you can use any number. For each SAP solution, SAP supplies specific BW contents. These provide the necessary conditions for importing data into BW; they also contain predefined reports and analyses that you are free to enhance. These contents are filled by extractors that transfer the data from the various systems to BW.
Data Synchronization between CRM und IS-U
Both IS-U and CRM can operate independently and in combination with external systems. This necessitates the existence of central objects in both systems. In an integrated scenario, there are a few objects that are synchronized via the Middleware since they must be available in both systems. The integrated scenario SAP CRM and SAP IS-U supports the automatic synchronization of the following objects:
· Business partners and their contract accounts
· Contracts
· Connection objects and points of delivery
· IS-U contacts in CRM activities
To ensure data consistency and transparency, changes to objects in one system are immediately synchronized in the other system.
For more information see the cookbooks IS-U/CRM Integration of Technical Objects,
https://websmp208.sap-ag.de/~sapdownload/011000358700000039982009E/Vertragsintegr_Dez08_e.pdf
The replication of business partner and business agreement is carried out by the CRM standard. For this please refer to CRM Middleware config best practices C71_BB_ConfigGuide_EN_DE.doc.
For the replication of the other data from SAP CRM in SAP IS-U, the IS-U master data generator plays an important role:
u2022 Technical objects such as points of delivery must be replicated from SAP CRM into SAP IS-U. Master data templates with the template category CRMTECHOBJ are used for this purpose.
u2022 During the replication of the CRM contract items, contracts must be created in SAP IS-U, among other things. These data changes are made in SAP IS-U with master data templates of the category CRMNEWCONTRACT.

• Need BOM related solution for Textile Industry (Weaving proces)

HIi,
Made to Order Strategy:
Every times customer sends the specification of product. Specification format as given below:
Ex. 80x100/154x80*3-118u201D 4/1 Twill
Details of specifications:
80: Count of EPI (Ends Per Inch)
100: Count of PPI (Picks Per Inch)
154: EPI
80: PPI
3: Insertation
118u201D u2013 Width in Inch
4/1 Twill : Design of Fabric
Operations Details:
1 Warping
2. Sizing
3. Weaving
4. Quality Inspection
5. Packing
As Is Business Process:
There are mainly four production lines viz. Warping, Sizing, Weaving and Quality Inspection. For all the production lines the individual machine work centers will be as listed below with brief description:
1. Sectional Warping:
A kind of Warping specially used to prepare fabrics for shirting. In sectional warping dyed yarns are used to prepare warping beam. The end constraint of sectional warping is 720 ends at a time. The actual capacity of Sectional warping is 800 MTR/min. This activity is job work for DEESAN group.
2. Direct warping:
Direct warping process is used to prepare warping beam. The end constraint of warping is 1088 ends per beam. Machine width of the beam in 2200 mm, speed of warping varying from 300 MTR to 1200 MTR per minute depending upon the construction required. It has backup procedure for next round. Uploading speed for single yarn is 8 yarn / min / person.
3. Sizing:
Sizing process is used to prepare specific number of EPI/ beam as per the requirement of construction. A calculated no of warp beam used to prepare a single sizing beam. Speed of sizing 45 to 55 MTR / minute depending on the requirement of fabric.
4. Preparation of Drawing:
This process is used to preparation of new drawing for the loom machine. Drawing includes frame & reed. It will take 12 hr for 2 persons to prepare a single drawing i.e. 8000 ends per shift. This activity given as job work to some group of people.
5. Weaving:
Two types of weaving machines used are CAM and DOBBY. Fabric to fabric PPI is varying, the capacity of loom machine depends upon the PPI so the capacity of loom machines varying with the type of fabric. CAM is used specially for plain fabrics.
6. Quality Inspection:
The beams of fabrics coming from looming machine are inspected on Inspection machine. 100% fabrics are inspected on QA machine for further grading, which is then bifurcated in Export, Local and chindi type.
7. Rolling:
Rolling machine is used for rolling of inspected fabric on card board rolls according to the quality of fabric. A roll contain of maximum 350 MTR of fabric. Which are then packed with LDPE followed by HDPE with appropriate coding on rolls.
Material Requirement:
For ex. 80x100/154x90*3-118u201D 4/1 Twill
Order Qty.: 20000 M
Currently they are using single level BOM.
Formulas for calculate raw material requirements as given below:
Warp wt / mtr = (EPIWidthCrimp) /(1693*Count of EPI)
= (154 * 118 * 1.025)/(1693 * 80)
= 0.137524
= 0.138 Kg/Mtr
Weft wt / mtr = (PPIInsertationWidth * Crimp) /(1693*Count of PPI)
= (9031181.025)/(1693100)
= 0.192891
= 0.193 Kg/Mtr
Total Qty req:
Warp = 0.138 * 20000 + add 5% loss
= 2898 KG
Weft = 0.193 * 20000 + add 4% loss
= 4014 KG
Packaging material requirement :
1. Paper tube = Total order qty / approximately for 300 m 1 paper tube required + 5% loss
= 20000 / 300 *1.05
= 70
2. HDPE sheet = No. of paper tube * 0.4 KG
= 70 * 0.4
= 28 KG
3. LDPE sheet = No. of paper tubes * 0.15 KG
= 70 * 0.15
= 10.5 KG
Chemical consumption in terms of yarn on KG basis. Its combination of 4-6 chemicals depends on construction to construction also material availability.
Note: We will consume chemicals against cost center.
Production planning at execution time:
Sizing and warping calculation:
1. Sizing :
EPI per inch = 154
On loom will be = 154 * 1.025
= 157.85
Total no of ends for 118u201D width = 157.85 * 118
= 18626
Add one more ends per 1000 ends = 18626 / 1000
= 19 ends
Total no of ends = 18626 + 19
= 18645 for sizing
Warping :
Warping m/c capacity of output is 1088 Ends per set/beam.
Speed of machine 300-1200 MPM.
So for sizing we need 18645 ends. Now we want to calculate no warp set required for sizing & no. of ends per warp set.
Ends required per set = 18645 / 18 = 1036
i.e. 18 * 1036 = 1 Sizing set
We need total yarn on KG basis
Issue related to BOM:
1. How We can feet below 2 issues in BOM
a. we want to calculate RM(Yarn) material requirement in Unit of u201CENDu201D
NOTE: Procurement of Raw material Unit- KG as well as it depends no. of ends required for warp set / beam. i.e. its multiple of yarn cone required for 1 warp set.
As per Bom of Raw Martial Unit- Ends (EA)
b. Also we want to calculate no of warp set required for sizing and no of ends required for warping process.

Hi Pankaj,
Hope you might have completed the project for Textile industry. I need to know implementation in Textile and some specific process. If you can share some documentation for Textile industry would be very helpful for me. My id k.anamika06 at gmail
