Reset Host Name buffer on WebAS Java

Hello everyone.
I'm currently planning the move of a production server to a new hardware. We need to reuse the old host name of the SAP server but it will be associated to a new IP address.
I know that in ABAP it is possible to clear / reset the host name buffer for this kind of situation.
Is it possible on a Web AS Java too? If yes, how can we achieve that?
It will be needed for an XI 7.0 / Portal 7.0 with XCM system that are connected to the system that must be moved.
Thanks in advance,
Sébastien

Buffers like these are automatically reset during the restart of your system. I think this will be the most safe way to do this..
Kind regards,
Mark

    Hello Prem,
    Thanks for information.
I know that parameter and how to check.
My specific question is about hostname buffer cache rate and how long does it hold that value in buffer and refresh rate.

  • Host name not derived as FQDN (TH_GET_PLUGIN_INFO )

    Hello,
we've got a problem in the CRM web UI, however, I assume it is more related to general BSP settings.
When testing a CRM component ICCMP_HEADER which is a BSP application in the component workbench
(tcode BSP_WD_CMPWB). The browser tells that an exception
    CX_BSP_WD_HTTP_RESPONSE_ERROR is thrown in class
    CL_BSP_WD_STREAM_LOADER, method LOAD_FROM_URL.
I did some debugging and found out that in this method in line 20,
function module TH_PLUGINS_ACTIVE is called. It returns that both HTTP
and HTTPS are active. Due to this, in line 31 the system calls method
CL_HTTP_CLIENT=>CREATE_BY_DESTINATION. In this method function module
TH_GET_PLUGIN_INFO is called. It returns the host name (uxsapl07)
without FQDN (.mobilkom.at). I tested the function module on our
development system (MSD) and it returns the full hostname
    (vssapk08.mobilkom.at).
I've checked the host name buffer in tcode SMICM and it shows only the
hostname (no FQDN). If refreshing the buffer, it gets filled again with
    only the hostname.
I've compared settings on productive system MSP with development system
    MSD:
    parameter: SAPLOCALHOSTFULL
    MSP: uxsapl07.mobilkom.at
    MSD: vssapk08.mobilkom.at
    parameter: icm/host_name_full
    MSP: empty
    MSD: empty
However, in tcode SMICM --> paramters, both systems show the FQDN for
    parameter icm/host_name_full.
I don't know why it works then on MSD and not on MSP.
    Many thanks & regards
    Wolfgang

    parameter: icm/host_name_full
    MSP: empty
    MSD: empty
try setting the above parameter with the FQDN (RZ10) and restart the ICM
after restart run program RSPARAM to check whether the changes had taken effect

  • Java Web is taking twice the host name while creating URLs

    Hi Colleagues,
I am facing a strange issue, refer the below URL,
    http://inst50067133.inst50067133.blr3.sap.corp:50000/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/pcd!3aportal_content!2fcom.sap.pct!2fplatform_add_ons!2fcom.sap.ip.bi!2fiViews!2fcom.sap.ip.bi.bex?QUERY=0RSTT_I07_T010_DP4
It takes twice the hostname while creating any URLs. SAPLOCAHOSTFULL is set correctly with the full host name, still it generates like this.
Any one come across like this & any solution is found? Please post me.
    Thanks
    Isaac

    Hi Issac,
Can you  explain it in detail, which area you have checked/editted  in portal side for resolving this issue.
We are facing the same here, while executing any queries iin Busi. explorer, portal comes with the URL including twice the hostname .
    Please advice .

  • How can I create a host name site collection when I have a 443 web application already created for App model?

    Hi all,
I have a 2013 farm set up with the App model
1 web application for path based site collection using host name
1 web application with SSL (no host name)
    1 web application for mysite
My business request is that  I need to migrate SSL enabled 2007 content to this farm and use host name site collections.  I tried to create one more web application for this without any luck (the 443 IIS folder is already used by another web application).
I thought I bind the previous 443 web application with another IP address should be fine.  Seems like the IIS site is taken (https://server name:443) so it will not let me create one more.  How can I solve this problem so I can create the web application
to host those host name site collections?  Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Sally

    Hi Trevor,
Thanks again for your quick reply.  I try the option 2 right after your post.  I use my front end server name for public URL (https://WFEName:443) and it fails again.  The error message is:
The directory C:\inetpub\wwwroot\wss\VirtualDirectories\443 is already being used by another IIS Web Site.  Choose a different root directory for your new Web application.
After reading more, I saw mix Hosted Name Site collection and Path-based site collection aren't recommended.  Unfortunately I already have Path-based site collection created with App model web application
(the web application without host name) in my farm.  In my Option 2, that web application without host name is used for App routing.  This takes the root folder 443 which will not allow any other web application to use the same name again.
Does that mean we can't create Host Named Site collection in the same farm?  Is there any configuration I need to check?
    Thanks again.

  • Host name (localhost) when accessing via web

I installed Beehive and it is running great.
But I may have missed something - when I access the clients using http://<my web dns name>:4443/zimbra I keep getting re-directed to http://localhost.localdoamin:4443/zimbra.
When I downloaded the conferencing add-on it also tries to connect to localhost.localdomain and not to the host name of the server or the DNS name (not the same as the actual hostname).
The Outlook extension works fine and Beekeeper accepts and stays on the web-host name.
Can I get Beehive to begin using the web-host name in place of localhost.localdomain ?

I guess your machine name is incorrecly configured in /etc/hosts or your localhost line does also contain the machine name, which is often the case in linux distros "bare from install".

beectl modify_property --component VIRTUALSERVER name ServerName value myserver.mydomain.comfinally
    beectl activate_configuration

  • Custom host-name for web application SharePoint 2010

I am facing a weird behavior. Can anyone help me regarding this?
    Steps performed:
    1. Created a web application using custom host name.
    2. Created a site collection using "Blank" site template. Nothing issues.
    3. Created another site collection using "Publishing" site template. Authentication prompt came multiple times. IIS logs/Fiddler/HTTP Watch are full with 401 entries.
    4. Added the custom host-name with web server IP in local desktop hosts file(which is in intranet domain). Prompt issue fixed.
    5. Authentication mode set as NTLM.

    Hi DDasgupta,
After you created a web application with a custom host name, if you got a prompt for the user and you may face the following issues:
There is continuous prompt for the credentials
    HTTP 401.1 error
This shows that there is a problem with the Loopback configuration. This situation should occur only when we access the application from the server machine.
For fixing the problem, we have to disable the Loopback value inside the registry.Open the Registry Editor (regedit.exe) and locate the following key:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa, and create a new Key Value of type DWORD inside
it and set the value to 1.
More information, please refer to the link:

  • Run Into Problem When Trying Not To Hard Code the Host Name

My code (using the JavaMail API) works fine when the SMTP host name is hard coded in the program:
props.put( "mail.smtp.host", "TheHostName" );Then, I tried to put the host name in a properties file (smtpServer.properties). The properties file is in the $TOMCATHOME\webapps\AppName\WEB-INF\classes\resources directory. And the properties file has this one single line:

I would agree with Reply 1. From the stack trace it is apparent that it comes from Struts, where it is failing to set some kind of property in a bean. However the code that you posted doesn't seem to have anything to do with that. Check your Struts configuration.

  • Host Name and IP Question

Sorry about this, I posted this on the Web Services forum, but nobody looks in there :(
Well, not strictly issues, and also maybe not strictly Java, but it does fall under web services. And the second question might be fixed with Java (probably HTML though!)
OK, enough dribble here is my question. I have set up my home PC as a web and FTP server running with XP IIS, there isn't much on it at the mo, but what I would like to know if it is at all possible (And I think I know the answer already) to change the host name/ip address.
By this I mean, I have an IP address which is provided by my broadband provider and although its DHCP, its static (I assume) because it never changes? and at the moment I can go anywhere in the world and type http://???.???.??.?? and I can see my little site working away. But I don't want to do that I want to type http://bestsexywebsiteintheworldever (or something to that affect)
So is it possible to do that, but without having to use one of these URL Forwarding Services.
Secondly, on my site I have some links that I am trying to keep a suprise for people when they click them, but the problem is when you hover over it, the address is shown on the bottom of the screen, as I'm sure you are all aware of. Is it possible to remove this so that when you hover no address is shown?
Thanks, sorry the first one is a bit long winded, I got carried away (very bored at work!)

One way to do this is to purchase a fully qualified Domain Name, then have your ISP point their DNS server to that. They usually want some $$ for that service.
I don't know about the second question, sorry.

Hard coding the ip is not a good practice more over try using the relative path
    such a ..\ for directory..
and i believe that the ip need not be specified when you are deploying it on web server.
