Resetting Tux Server env variables without reboot/programming

My Tuxedo Application servers use an environment variable that we may have to change
while the tuxedo servers are running. How can I non-programmatically change the environment
variables so that whenever the servers access the environment variable next they
get the changes environment variable. I also do not want to restrt my Tuxedo servers

you can use tuxreadenv or tuxputenv or tuxgetenv
the functions can resolve the problem.

  • Do I need to set  system env variables for weblogic and SOA server installation?

    Hi All,
       I already have two weblogic application servers on my machine(that were installed by others).
    I observed some environment variables were also set in System variables(ORACLE_HOME,WEB_SERVER_HOME etc) section in Env variables section(Start Menu---> Computer --> properties ---).But why do we need to have system environment variables wherein we already have those variables in files like setDomainEnv.bat or/and setSOADoaminEnv.bat for each server.
    And one more thing system variables will be applicable for all servers(the whole machine) right.It may spoil the installation of new servers and present servers as variables should be unique to each server.
        I want to install weblogic and SOA server installation.
    So Can I remove the existing system variables(as they will applicable for every server) and install weblogic and SOA server installation without setting up the environment variables?
    Especially I have multiple Weblogic servers,In that case how it would be to have environment variables(JAVA_HOME,WL_HOME,ORACLE_HOME etc)?
    Please guide me on this to installl SOA suite .

  • 'Flush' launchd without rebooting server?

    I created a daily 6am disk usage report, then moved it to 8am... but then it began running at 6am and 8am... so I unloaded the job and found the 8am job kept running, even though there's no mention of it in the 'launchd list' results!
    I've used the following one-liner to print out the contents of all the loaded launchd jobs, but none of them have been overwritten by my plist, or in any other way call the script that my launchd job was created to run... very weird.
    for i in `launchctl list | awk '{ print $NF }'`; do launchctl list $i ; done
    I've unloaded, reloaded, and anything else I can think of at the commandline or in Lingon (launchd interface), but can't stop this job!
    Is there any way to restart launchd, or flush its cache/database of jobs, without rebooting the server??

    Thanks for the thought BDAqua, but cron keeps its jobs in /etc/crontab while launchd uses XML plists and each job is a seperate file.
    I haven't touched cron, and cant see a way that launchctl or Lingon (both solely launchd utils) would have injected the job into cron, but I checked anyway and found it wasn't the case. cron has been deprecated in favour of launchd.
    launchd is the root of all processes, so i understand if there's no mechanism for restarting it (because it would kill everything else running) but I'm hoping there's a way to get it to rescan all the plist locations like it does on boot, so it will hopefully drop the spurious job and reingest the updated plist.

  • Reset Bluetooth connection without rebooting?

    I'm using a wireless Mighty Mouse. After 20-30 minutes of use, it frequently gets very slow and jumpy. I've found that rebooting the computer "resets" the connection and returns with good performance.
    But I shouldn't have to reboot every 30 minutes just to keep the mouse working. Is there any other way to "reset" the Bluetooth connection? I don't see anything like that under the Bluetooth settings.
    Is the answer to keep "re-pairing"?
    If I turn my mouse off, then back on, a gray "connection lost" mouse icon appears briefly on the screen so I know the computer detects it, but I can't seem to reconnect without rebooting (or re-pairing, if that's the best option).
    Also, if I put my Mac to sleep, I lose the mouse connection -- even if the mouse is turned on at the time I wake the computer. Is this normal?

    Okay, I've taken to turning my mouse off and re-pairing it every 20 minutes or so. I can't believe this is how it's supposed to work. Isn't there a better way?
    Note: My Logitech Bluetooh mouse never had this problem.

  • ITunes Resets my Server

    I have changed ISPs since first downloading iTunes. Now, whenever I open iTunes, it resets my server and I cannot connect to the internet without changing the authetication key. I uninstalled iTunes and tried to re-download but received the following error message:
    "Internet Explorer cannot download iTunesSetup.exe from appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite.net. The connection to the server was reset." Any thoughts??

    I am running Windows XP on a Dell computer. Previously, whenever I opened iTunes, the program would reset my server with my old authentication code. My boyfriend mentioned it to a salesperson at the Apple store who instructed us to just uninstall and then download iTunes again. Now I am finding that I cannot download iTunes because I get the aforementioned message about the server being reset and again, I need to go into the Wireless Network Connection and change the authentication code to the correct one.

  • Re: (forte-users) Unstable server ENV after upgrade to Forte30M2.

    I see/suggest a few things:
    1) In your #1, you mention ".... development and test environments which use the
    same Forte 3M installs through links ...". This concerns me. On our UNIX box
    each environment has it's own directory containing it's own install. If your
    environments are some how sharing a node manager, log directory or processes (to
    name a few things) that is a recipe for disaster. They may be competing for
    resources and usually the first one started will win.
    2) I haven't done a lot with compatibility levels, but if an application built
    in dev is to run in test it may be important that node managers and services
    (autocompile, codegen etc.) be at the same level (????).
    3) Check the definition files, to make sure the two environments operate
    independently. If they are both trying to write to the same log file the one
    started up first will work while the second will not as the file will be "busy".
    4) We usually use rpcreate (newer version) to create brand new repositories.
    Than we export/import the source code that we need. Also it is important to
    force compile ALL plans in a workspace at least once after doing the import.
    This will ensure that all of the code is "speaking the same language". The other
    compile, only compiles those pieces of code that changed from the last compile.
    Hope this helps.

    We found a solution to our issue.Their desktops were in a lockdown environment and the essbase.id file located in the windows directory was locked as well. This file is responsible for assigning ports etc and it couldn't be updated for the 6.5.4p2 upgrade. Once the file was deleted and the user reconnected to Essbase, the essbase.id was reset and they could connect.

  • Subject: Env Variable to distinguish environments u2013 Dev, QA, Prod

    I have a HP UNIX Script. This script is called from an ABAP Program which will be called from a process chain.
    UNIX Script will run in different environments u2013 Dev, QA, and Prod. While most of the script is same for all env, some code is different. I want to just have one script and put conditional code for environment dependent code.
    But how do I know which environment I am in when script is run. Is there some env variable which SAP BI sets when it runs the script? If yes, what is that variable?

    When you create your OS command - create three - one for each landscape and in your ABAp program - as mentioned by Dennis - use the SY-SYSID to distinguish the systems and execute the appropeirate UNIX Script using your program.
    Usually this issue is faced when dealing with the file system in your UNIX Script where the locations across different systems cannot be syncronised.
    Else execute the script locally and check if it works and then use that in your program without having to duplicate the System commands in SM69.

  • Get CGI env variables in a database procedure using new APEX Listener

    I already posted this question in the Apex Listener forum and still no replies after one week. The original post is here:
    Get CGI environment from APEX Listener within database procedure
    So please forgive me for posting in this forum as well, but there is a lot more activity here.
    I'd like to know how I can get the CGI environment from the APEX Listener. For example, if I want to write a procedure that inserts into a table the originating IP Address of the client making the web request, how do I get it?
    I am familiar with the Oracle Http Server and mod_plsql, and I know how to call OWA_UTIL.GET_CGI_ENV to get this sort of information. How do I do it using the APEX Listener?
    In particular, how do I do this when calling a custom procedure (not in an Apex workspace)? When I try it now, I get an error from owa_util. The cgi env seems to be empty or not initiated (owa.num_cgi_vars is null or zero).
    Specific set-up:
    I have a web server running the latest JDK, Glassfish, and 1.1.4 Apex Listener. It connects to another server running the latest 11.2 database. Apex is installed and running, but I am not really developing a traditional Apex application in a workspace. I mainly use it like you would use mod_plsql. In other words, I have custom pl/sql packages that are called directly via URL. The requests are forwarded by the listener to the database, and the DB executes the procedure and returns output using htp.p to send text back to the browser. And it works just fine for this purpose. But if I want to call GET_CGI_ENV to get information like the IP Address, web browser making the request, etc. I can't seem to get it with the OWA packages.
    Can anyone shed some light on this? If Apex Listener is not designed to do this, is there some kind of workaround I can use to forward this sort of information to the database for each request?

    I have not tried owa_util.print_cgi_env from SQL Workshop yet, as I have not created an APEX workspace. I have had no need for a workspace because of the way I am using APEX as a method for calling custom packages and stored procedures. In other words, I am using APEX strictly for the mod_plsql functionality. I just use it to forward requests to the database to execute pl/sql code, but I don't develop anything in APEX. My application is a web service with no screens and no direct user interface, which is why I did not need to create APEX forms. The front end is a mobile app that makes calls to the web service.
    But I have tried calling owa_util.print_cgi_env in one of my stored procedures and it returns no data, even when calling it from the web front-end.
    So I am beginning to believe that if the OWA toolkit works with APEX, then it must only be enabled when invoked within a workspace. Stand-alone procedures can be called via APEX, but apparently doing so does not initiate the CGI env variables. This set-up used to work under the OHS with mod_plsql. The embedded pl/sql gateway also works this way.
    Is there a procedure call that APEX is making to set the environment before each SQL Workshop request?
    My security model currently blocks access to all packages and procedures except for my custom packages. I am using the APEX Listener configuration to allow only the packages listed by name in a white list. But I thought I allowed all access when I first tried calling the OWA packages. I'll have to try that again.

  • Transport  of BPS planning area (variables) without transp. all pl. levels

    Hi!
    Can anybody advice me, how to transport new variables which I have created to a planning area, without transporting all planning levels which belong to it?
    I transported a few planning levels that include the new variables I created to the planning area. As a result, the planning levels are transported but the new variables are missing. I don´t want to transport the whole planning area, since it contains a development which is not ready yet. Can I transport the missing variables with SE15 (how?) or is there some other way to do it?
    Grateful for any help,

    Sari,
       Please execute program UPC_TRANSPORT_BPS_ALL and transport your variables without transporting any level or area.

    Hi Michael,
    thanks for your reply. Sorry I forgot to mention that our application server is running on windows 2003 server. Our variable and the corresponding value is uppercase. It is not the name of our reports server. For the test I used a hard coded reports server name. The same reports server name is also included in the call to web.show_document whitch worked fine.
    I also tried to read other variables defined in .env file. The only variable I could read was 'FORMS_PATH' which is defined in our application specific .env files. But the value I got had nothing in common with the value defined in these files ???

  • Oracle equivalent to SQL Server Table Variables ?

    Does Oracle have anything equivalent to SQL Server table variables, that can be used in the JOIN clause of a select statement ?
    What I want to do is execute a query to retrieve a two-column result, into some form of temporary storage (a collection ?), and then re-use that common data in many other queries inside a PL/SQL block. I could use temporary tables, but I'd like to avoid having to create new tables in the database, if possible. If I was doing this in SQL Server, I could use a table variable to do this, but is there anything similar in Oracle ? SQL Server example:
    use Northwind
    DECLARE @myVar TABLE(CustomerID nchar(5), CompanyName nvarchar(40))
    INSERT INTO @myVar(CustomerID, CompanyName)
    select CustomerID, CompanyName
    from Customers
    --Join the variable onto a table in the database
    SELECT *
    FROM @myVar mv join Customers
    on mv.CompanyName = Customers.CompanyName
    The closest I've found in Oracle is to use CREATE TYPE to create new types in the database, and use TABLE and CAST to convert the collection to a table, as shown below. I can't see anyway without creating new types in the database.
    CREATE TYPE IDMap_obj AS Object(OldID number(15), NewID number(15));
    CREATE TYPE IDMap_TAB IS TABLE OF IDMap_obj;
    DECLARE
    v_Count Number(10) := 0;
    --Initialize empty collection
    SourceIDMap IDMap_TAB := IDMap_TAB();
    BEGIN
    --Populate our SourceIDMap variable (dummy select statement for now).
    FOR cur_row IN (select ID As OldID, ID + 10000000 As NewID From SomeTable) LOOP
    SourceIDMap.extend;
    SourceIDMap(SourceIDMap.Last) := IDMap_obj(cur_row.OldId, cur_row.NewId);
    END LOOP;
    --Print out contents of collection
    FOR cur_row IN 1 .. SourceIDMap.Count LOOP
    DBMS_OUTPUT.put_line(SourceIDMap(cur_row).OldId || ' ' || SourceIDMap(cur_row).NewId);
    END LOOP;
    --OK, can we now use our collection in a JOIN statement ?
    SELECT COUNT(SM.NewID)
    INTO v_Count
    FROM SomeTable ST JOIN
    TABLE(CAST(SourceIDMap As IDMap_TAB)) SM
    ON ST.ID = SM.OldID;
    DBMS_OUTPUT.put_line(' ' );
    DBMS_OUTPUT.put_line('v_Count is ' || v_Count);

    The term "table function" is a bit confusing here. In Oracle-speak, it means a function that can be used in the from list of a select statement thus:
    select * from Table(My_Table_Function()),..
    where...
    The function's return type must be a collection that SQL understands. So for the interesting case -- mimicking a function with more than one column -- this would be a nested table of ADTs where both the ADT and the nested table are defined at schema level. PL/SQL -- by virtue of some clever footwork -- allows you to declare the type as a nested table of records where both these types are declared in a package spec. This alternative is generally preferred, especially because the nested table can be of Some_Table%rowtype (or Some_Cursor%rowtype if you prefer).
    As I understand it from our man on the ANSI committee, our use terminology follows the standard.
    The construct below seems to be a bit different (though there are similarities) because it appears from your code sample that it's usable only within procedural code. And the object from which you select is a variable rather than a function.
    So, after that preamble... the answer would be:
    No, we don't have any constructs to let you "declare" something that looks like a regular schema-level table as a PL/SQL variable -- and then use (static) SQL on it just as if it were a schema-level table.
    But yes, you can use PL/SQL's pipelined table function to achieve much of the same effect.
    Look at the attached Table_Function.sql.
    It shows that you can populate a collection of records using ordinary PL/SQL code. You can't use SQL for insert, update, or delete on such a collection. I see that SQL Server lets you do
    insert into Program_Variable_Table select... from Schema_Level_Table
    The PL/SQL equivalent would be
    select...
    bulk collect into Program_Variable_Collection
    from Schema_Level_Table
    The attached shows that once you have populated your collection, then you can then query it with regular SQL -- both from inside PL/SQL code and from naked SQL.
    and the code is here
    CONNECT System/p
    -- Drop and re-create "ordinary" user Usr
    EXECUTE d.u
    CONNECT Usr/p
    create table Schema_Things(ID number, Description Varchar2(80))
    create package Pkg is
    subtype Thing_t is Schema_Things%rowtype;
    type Things_t is table of Thing_t; -- index by pls_integer
    Things Things_t;
    -- PLS-00630: pipelined functions must have
    -- a supported collection return type
    -- for "type Things_t is table of Thing_t index by pls_integer".
    function Computed_Things return Things_t pipelined;
    procedure Insert_Schema_Things(No_Of_Rows in pls_integer);
    end Pkg;
    create package body Pkg is
    function Computed_Things return Things_t pipelined is
    Idx pls_integer;
    Thing Thing_t;
    begin
    Idx := Things.First();
    while Idx is not null loop
    pipe row (Things(Idx));
    Idx := Things.Next(Idx);
    end loop;
    end Computed_Things;
    procedure Insert_Schema_Things(No_Of_Rows in pls_integer) is
    begin
    Things := Things_t();
    Things.Extend(No_Of_Rows);
    for j in 1..No_Of_Rows loop
    Things(j).ID := j;
    Things(j).Description := To_Char(j, '00009');
    end loop;
    insert into Schema_Things
    select * from Table(Pkg.Computed_Things());
    end Insert_Schema_Things;
    end Pkg;
    -- Test 1.
    begin Pkg.Insert_Schema_Things(100); end;
    select * from Schema_Things
    -- Test 2.
    begin
    Pkg.Things := Pkg.Things_t();
    Pkg.Things.Extend(20);
    for j in 1..20 loop
    Pkg.Things(j).ID := j;
    Pkg.Things(j).Description := To_Char(j, '00009');
    end loop;
    for j in 1..5 loop
    Pkg.Things.Delete(5 +2*j);
    end loop;
    end;
    select * from Table(Pkg.Computed_Things())
