[Resolved] certain users can't startx

I've used hwd to create my xorg.conf and installed the vesa version.  Everything seemed to be working but for some reason a new user can't startx.  X works, startxfce4 works, root can startx... thanks for any help

Cleaning up xinitrc doesn't seem to help.  Removing type1 and record gives me another error message.  It seems to indicate that HAL is a problem.  Though the daemon is running I may have a misconfiguration.

  • BI and Portal: certain users can't access BI

    Hi,
I have an authorization related problem with Portal/BI.
I use the portal to access BI reports. However, since yesterday, there has been problems for some users. For some it's still ok (administrators).
When adding an additional role - SAP_J2EE_ADMIN - to problematic user in BI back-end this user is then able to access the BI reports. When not using SAP_J2EE_ADMIN it gets the error message:
    500 Internal Server Error
              BEx Web Application
Failed to process request; contact your system administrator
    Error Summary
Exception occured while processing the current request; this exception cannot be handled by the application or framework
If the information on this page does not help you locate and correct the cause of the problem, contact your system administrator
To facilitate analysis of the problem, keep a copy of this error page Hint: Most Web browsers allow you to select all content, and copy and paste it into an empty document (such as in an email or simple text file)
    Root Cause
The initial exception that caused the request to fail was:
    Access denied (Object(s): portal_content/Systemlandscape/SAP_BW)
    Log ID     001CC4E1D3BE00780000002B000007F400046705D9DBB25B
However, I do not want to give all users SAP_J2EE_ADMIN. They should only be able to see their reports and not any admin iviews..
Some additional info is that when I add the SAP_J2EE_ADMIN to the problem user, another role containing some RFC related authorizations is getting red (deactivated) meaning I have to re-activate that role again (make it green). After that, it works...
    Thankful for any help!

  • How do I only allow certain users to print in color?

Product Name: HP Color LaserJet Professional CP5225dn Printer (CE712A)
Operating System Installed: Windows 7 Enterprise (64bit)
I work at a K-12 school and purchased the HP Color LaserJet Professional CP5225dn Printer (CE712A) for use in our computer lab. I would like to know if it is possible to have it so that only certain users can print in color (possibly put a password on it). I know the cost for color is higher, and therefore, would like it so that students have to approve through teacher if they want to print in color.
We are running it on our Print Server (networked) not through USB.
    Thank you for the help.

    Hi,
That's a very good question actually. In my corporate networks, we are talking about hundreds of laser printers and the ONLY thing we can do: only allow people access to a set of mono laser printers, not all printers. For example, the following printer is using B&W as default but can't stop users to print in colors if they could access to the resourse:

  • A user can only see the public area in a collaboration room

    Hi all,
We have experienced that a certain user can only see the public area of
a collaboration room although the user has member rights to see more
    content.
We have tried to remove the user from the room and add him again. It
    did not help.
Other users have been added before and after this user without problems.
What could be wrong with this user?

    Hi Ashwin,
Check the roles and the groups by this user..  Is the same of the others users?

  • IMA11: avoiding that an user can reject the appropriation request "created"

    Hi All,
with reference to the t.code IMA11 (create/change an appropriation request),
an appriopriation request has the systen status "created".
I wonder if is possible to avoid that, for the appropriation request which has the status "created",
a certain user can choose the botton 'reject' in the tab "control data".
In PFCG, for the authorization object A_IMA_BUK I can't exclude that activity.
    Coul anyone help me?
    Thanks

Use Substitution for passing it from level 1 to below WBS:
    Prerequisite:
    PROJ-PROFL = 'ABC' AND PRPS-STUFE >= '1'
    Substitute
    PRPS-ASTNR = " A"
    PRPS-VERNR = "B"
This will help for Person Responsible and Application Number.
However for Partner function you have to use Exit and wirte code.
    Thanks

  • Can BPF step reviewer be specified to a certain user?

    Hi,
I know that each step in the BPF has to be either "completed" or "reviewed" before going to the next step.
I wonder if this "complete" or "review" actions can be limited to certain users. For example, a step can only be reviewed or completed by a vice-president before a local sales manager goes to work in the next step of the BPF.
    Thank you!
    Sunny

If you look under Component Services - Computers - My Computer - Distributed Transaction Coordinator, you can set the security model for DTC.
As far as the job failing, you may have pass-thru security issues or a mis-configured proxy account.  Hard to tell without detailed error messages.

When will Apple resolve its issue with Adobe so iPad users can access flash?

That isn't going to happen. Adobe has not only given up on iOS, they have given up on all mobile device now.

  • Hi! Windows 7 users can´t open the pdfs and jpegs that I have included into sent e-mails. How shall I resolve the problem?

    Hi!
Prolems started after uploading the Lion in March. Now at least Windows 7 users can´t open any pdfs or jpegs that I have included into sent e-mails. They can see that they are included but can´t open them. What can I do?

It's a bug in Outlook. Each version of Outlook has its own unique bug that prevents it form displaying email that didn't come from another Outlook user. Apple has attempted to dumb-down Mail and make it more complex in order to work around these issues, but Microsoft keeps changing the bugs in each version of Outlook instead of making an Internet Email standard compliant email client.
Are they able to right-click on the image and save it from the contextual menu?
Otherwise, make sure Send windows friendly, attachments at end of message are checked and send plain text.
Or, zip the attachments and send that way.
There is also a program called Attachment Tamer that many people have found useful.

  • Page background image can't be seen by certain users

hi! i'm using portal v3.0.9.8.3 and oracle db v8.1.7.0
i've created a page style with background image. I applied the page style to a page i created and assign some users to this default page.
problem is only some users can see the page with background image. they are have the same security settings and rights. but if i change the color of the tab, all users can see this change.
    any suggestions?
    thx.

You may already know, browsers always cache css/images/js files. So if you would like to force browser to download new version of the files, you need to updated reference of the files using some kind of query string "http://server/test.css?version=XXX",
where on every updated you update the version 'XXX' to some new value. Usually we do this using some kind of programmatic approach - for example in my project I update the css/images/js links using the dll/assemlby modified date. So that every time I deploy
a new sharepoint solution, the files urls get changed.

  • Access to some UDFs authorised for certain user

    Dear All,
This issue made me confusing, it is about UDF access authorisation. Is it possible to authorise a certain user to open or view UDF ?For example : I have 5 UDFs that only can be used by sales dept user and 5 UDF's are for purchasing dept. How to authorized the UDFs according to its dept ? Thanks in advance.
    Rgds,

    Hi All,
I managed to resolve this problem by using additional authorisation creator that using form ID 38 and then in the general authorisation --> user authorisation is set to no. if it is authorised per user name, the user will not able to open UDF settings (CtrlShiftB) except there is the same level with him/her that can open the document, I think the settings can be opened. I almost escalated this problem to SAP support.
Tks for your all participations. More power to you...
    Rgds,

  • Restrict Which Users Can Enter Data In List Form in SharePoint Foundation 2013

Is there a way to restrict which users can enter data in particular fields in a list item entry form?
We are using a SharePoint Foundation 2013 list and calendar to manage vacation time. We need to restrict non-supervisor users users from entering a value in a certain field in the vacation request form.
Here is how the system works now:
    1. Employees complete the vacation request form (which creates a list item)
    2. An email is sent to their supervisor to either approve or decline the request
    3. Approved requests are automatically entered onto the vacation calendar
We have restricted the list so that only supervisors can edit items (the pending vacation requests). The problem is that all users can mark their own requests as approved when they fill out the request form in the first place. Is there a way to restrict
which users can enter data in particular fields on a list item entry form?

Thanks for the suggestion. We ended up 1) hiding the approval column and 2) creating a second list, workflow, etc. The user no longer sees the approval column when filling out the form. Requests are now submitted to list A. Workflow #1 copies the request
to List B, then deletes the item from List A. Once the request is added to List B, Workflow #2 emails the user that the request has been received and emails the supervisor that a request needs to be approved. Only supervisors have editing permissions on List
    B. Approved requests are automatically added to the vacation calendar (the calendar view of List B).
We found the following site to be helpful in learning how to hide the list column:

  • View incoming mail from certain user, Terminal

Is there a way to view logs of both received and rejected emails coming into our mail server from a certain address to a certain user.
We are still having a problem with one person sending us emails, and I know that at one point the other tech (Who is unavailable due to health reasons right now) had shown me a list of emails, dates and times from a certain email address.
I have not been able to find anything in our server logs that look like they would cause any trouble. So I want to know where else I can look for something like this.
Any and all help is appreciated.
FYI, she send me the Delivery failure notices, but I know that other emails came in around the same time so our server was up and running.
    Subject: Delivery Status Notification (Failure)
The following message to <[email protected]> was undeliverable.
    The reason for the problem:
5.4.7 - Delivery expired (message too old) 'timeout'

We have had some strange problems today. A few emails from Feb 12 just decided to show up in peoples mail boxes (Mine included, from the same lady that was having problems the other day).
One of our employees sent some PDF attachments to Toronto, they showed up as gibberish. When she forwards them to me, they are fine.
Rebooted the Mail server just in case. Too many 'weird' things today. Now off to deal with the issue of 2 of our raids each having one failed drive, and one degraded drive. Is it Monday or something????
