Resolved IP address from host name-PL\SQL

Guys,
I need to get a resolved IP address from Host name.
ie:Input would be host name and I need to get the resolved IP address of the host as output .
Can this be done by a PL\SQL program?
Thoughts please.
Thanks,
Gabriel

  • Resolving ip addresses from an iPad

    Hi,
    I've been given an iPad 3 (wifi version) for work and I'm having trouble getting it to resolve names correctly.
    I've connected it to a wireless access point and I can navigate around our LAN via IP addresses, but we have a number of web products which are licenced via their hostnames.
    Is there a way that I can set up some sort of hosts table entries or is there some other form of relating ip addresses to host names within the iPad?
    From what I've read on the interweb this can be done by jailbreaking the device, but I really don't want to do that as I need to show clients the functionality and getting them to jailbreak their devices just isn't going to fly.
    I imagine that this is something that has come up before but my search results were just a little odd, so if you can point me at another relevant post that would be cool too.
    Many thanks
    Brendon

    A web browser sends the text that was entered in the address bar as part of the HTTP or HTTPS connection, irrespective of the IP address.
    What your log is showing looks to be a refer from www.parksurgery-hursleyrd-ppg.org.uk to www.advtraining.co.uk, too.
    If you're running OS X Server as implied by the choice of forum, make certain that your DHCP server for your private network is vending only the address of your own OS X Server DNS server, and that there are no references to any off-LAN DNS servers.
    Also verify the contents and configuration of the local DNS server.
    Also look at the refers and any rewrite or redirection rules within the Apache setup for the web sites.  This for the rewrite and refer settings.
    If you reference Google DNS at 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 as mentioned earlier, you will get the public IP translations, but — depending on whether your gateway device can "reflect" those references back into your local network via whatever you're using for NAT — you may or may not reach the intended host.   You will generally not receive a 192.168.1.0/24 IP address as a translation from a public DNS server.
    All that written, if you're running OS X Server, then you need DNS locally, and it's then common to configure the LAN to reference that server for all DNS.

    I have checked IP,DNS,Gateway and more each & everything is well.
    Pls suggest us.

    Hi,
    According to your description, my understanding is that the same shared folder can be accessed by name, but can’t be accessed be IP address and asks for credentials.
    Please try to enable the option below on the device which has shared folder:
    Besides, check the Advanced Shring settings of shared folder and confrim that if there is any limitation settings.

  • UNABLE TO RETRIEVE THE CLIENT IP ADDRESS AND HOST NAME OF A PORTAL USER

    I'm trying to retrive the client IP address and host name of a portal user
    trying to access a portal page using APIs:
    PortletRenderRequest portletRequest =
    (PortletRenderRequest)request.getAttribute(HttpCommonConstants.PORTLET_RENDER_REQUEST);
    HttpServletRequest servletRequest =
    (HttpServletRequest)portletRequest.getAttribute(HttpCommonConstants.SERVLET_REQUEST);
    String l_szClientIPAddress = servletRequest.getRemoteAddr();
    String l_szClientHost = servletRequest.getRemoteHost();
    but i found that for all portal users on different machines IP addresses, the
    returned IP is the same for all which is Portal middle tier IP address.
    So how can retrive the IP addess of a portal user trying to access a portal
    page ?

    Brijesh,
    Do you mean how to see hostname/ip address of client requests processed by the server? If yes, depending on what's your front ending component - Web Cache or OHS, you can configure the access log format to have this information recorded in either of these component's access log file.
    For Web Cache access log file, refer this:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/caching.1012/b14046/diagnostics.htm#sthref2090
    For OHS access log file, refer this:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/web.1012/b14007/servlog.htm#sthref439
    By default, both Web Cache and OHS are configured to use Common Log Format (CLF) that does record hostname/ip address so if you haven't made any changes to log format, this info is already there for you. Look for $ORACLE_HOME/webcache/logs/access_log file for Web Cache and $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache/logs/access_log file for OHS.
    Thanks

  • Cannot DNS resolve across networks using host name only (not fqdn)

    Evening all,
     I currently run domain network (MS Server 08 - dhcp) on my firewall interface1 and WiFi network on interface2 (dhcp provided by router itself). On my Wifi dhcp I am advertising as DNS server that of the domain, but wifi clients can resolve only FQDN domain
    client names not host names ("domainclient.domain.local" - not "domainclient").
    If on my wifi client I change NIC properties -> IPV4->Advance->DNS-> append these suffixes, and put the domain.local, then it works but need to be able to work without manual changes to each client.
    Any ideas?
    Many thanks,

    Can I change the public hostname in my Oracle Database 10g Cluster using Oracle Clusterware?
    Hostname changes are not supported in Oracle Clusterware (CRS), unless you want to perform a deletenode followed by a new addnode operation.
    The hostname is used to store among other things the flag files and Oracle Clusterware stack will not start if hostname is changed.
    Changing the Private Interconnect
    o Change of the IP Address: change the IP address in the hosts file and/or DNS and make sure that ASM and the database also use the same interconnect
    o Change of the private node name used by Oracle Clusterware: requires a reinstall of Oracle Clusterware
    So, Public or Private hostnames can only be changed by removing/adding nodes, or reinstalling Oracle Clusterware. VIP Hostnames can be changed
    But you can read this idea (reinstall CRS)

  • Why can't I copy contacts' email address from their name card in lync 2010

    so here is the issue I have, when I need to copy someone's email addresses or their phone numbers, normally I will find them on lync, move the cursor on them, and their name card will show up, then I move cursor to their email address or their phone numbers,
    right click it, there will be an option to "copy", right? but sometimes, right clicking doesn't work. that copy option just won't pop up, this issue happens randomly, I need to restart lync, then it will work again. Also, there is one thing
    that's weird, after I restart lync, whatever I have copied in the clipboard will disappear, like if I press ctrl+c to copy something from word, then this issue happened, I restart lync, I can copy information in lync name card again, but all that
    content I copied does not exist in clipboard anymore, I press ctrl+v, there is nothing coming out.
     this is not a big problem, but it's really annoying, does anyone know why this issue happen and how to permanently? I tried to reinstall, does not work.
    this issues happens with both lync 2010 32 bit on 32 bit win7 and lync 2010 64 bit on win7 64 bit.

    Hi,
    Please try to delete Lync user profile and information in registry.
    The path of Lync user profile: <user profile>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Communicator\
    The path of Lync information in registry: HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Communicator\[email protected]
    Please also make sure Lync client update to the latest version.

  • Auto-populate address from a name

    I have created an interactive fillable form in Adobe Acrobat X.  I would ideally like to be able to begin typing a person's name, have the form recognize this person's name, and autopopulate their contact information (phone number, address, etc.)
    I assume I will need to create some sort of data file for the PDF to pull from.  I have changed the preferences to allow Auto-Complete at the "basic" level, but this still requires me to at least know the first part of the address or phone number to auto-complete one field at a time.
    Can you please explain how to create a data file and/or how to autopopulate the information?
    I appreciate your time and assistance!

    I think I am also looking for a solution like yours.
    I have a drop down menu identifying a manager's name. At the bottom of the form I have a text box I'd like to automatically fill in the managers email address corresponding to the selected manager in the first field.
    Box1= Job tittle, manager's name
    Box10=Box1 manager's email address.
    Currently using:
    Adobe X Pro
    MacBook Pro 17" Unibody (2012)
    Any suggestions would be great. Hopefully I can also use the same method to automatically change the Submit button "mailto" the proper manager selected if possible. but that's probably another discussion.
    Thank you in advance to all!

  • Resolve internet address from IF_RECIPIENT_BCS?

    Hello,
    i use the CL_BCS=>SHORT_MESSAGE function for sending an object linked to a mail.
    Afterwards I have to resolve and to document the recipient adresses in plain text.
    There are several types of adresses like user names and internet adresses.
    I am looking for a possibility to get the plain text internet address;
    IF_RECIPIENT_BCS=>RESOLVE gives my only a CAM_ADDRES information including a field SO_KEY...
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Uwe,
    try SO_ADDRESS_GET with your SO_KEY. The exporting parameter ADDRESS (and ADDRESS_STRING) should contain the email-address.
    If IF_RECIEPIENT_BCS->RESOLVE fílls the USER structure you'll get the username (USRNAM, SAPNAM, ADRNAME) with SO_USER_WITH_ID_READ.

  • LMS 4.1 user tracking does not pull ip address from hosts on switches

    New install discovered router and switches at same location with no issues. However when running an acquisition on those switches most fields are populated except the ip address of end host associated with port. Mac address, port speed, etc. but no ip address info on per port basis. Any ideas, using snmp v3 if that makes a difference.
    Sent from Cisco Technical Support iPad App

    Thanks for this.  This really clarified things in my head.  I didn't realize that you were not seeing MACs in UT.  This is a new feature of LMS 4.1.  UT will show those ports that are up/up even if the MAC address cannot be determined.  The reason the MAC address cannot be determined is that your switch code is too old.  You need 12.2(25)SEE or higher to support SNMPv3 contexts necessary to poll MAC addresses.  If you upgrade, then configure the following for each VLAN context (seen in "show snmp context") then you should see those MACs (then IPs):
    snmp-server group v3group v3 context vlan-10

  • Email address requires host name in address field

    Help! - I'm trying to setup mail on Lion Sever (7.3). The only way I can get it to accept incoming mail is to specify the whole FQDN of the server in the address.
    For example the domain name is example.com and I have a user set up called john. Sending mail to [email protected] works. But sending mail to [email protected] (which is what I want) returns an error:
    554 554 5.7.1 <[email protected]>: Relay access denied (state 13).
    For internal DNS, I have:
    example.com - primary zone
    mail.expample.com - alias server.example.com
    server.example.com - 192.168.1.2
    www.johnbutzek.com - alias server.example.com
    MX record server.johnbutzek.com
    Any help would be appreciated. I see references here to problems in mail on 7.3 but not this specific problem.

    This is less about MX records than it is your mail server configuration.
    Quite simply, your mail server doesn't know that it's supposed to accept mail for johnbutzek.com, so when it sees such a message it assumes it's supposed to relay it to another server, or bounce it if the sender isn't authenticated/trusted.
    Changing the MX may be valid, but it's not going to fix the problem. If the MX record points to this server all you'll get are 'MX points back to me' errors in the postfix log.
    Instead, you need to tell postfix what domain(s) it is supposed to accept mail for. RIght now it sounds like you have it set for 'server.johnbutzek.com' and that's your problem. Change it to 'johnbutzek.com' and your problem should go away.
