  • Migrating public folders to exchange 2013 hebrew issue

    I am migrating public folders to exchange 2013. half of them a named in hebrew.
    The migration fails, the error is character  related.
    Is it possible at all to migrate hebrew named public folders?

    Hi,
    Did you got the error message mentioned in the following thread?
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/8b383a46-b710-4fc0-aa0b-e52f288cf93d/e2010-to-e2013-public-folders-migration-failed?forum=exchangesvrdeploy
    If so, please check if they are mail-enabled public folders. If they are mail-enabled public folders, please make sure there are no invalid characters in alias.
    Based on the description, you couldn't migrate public folders named in Hebrew, other public folders could be moved successfully. If I misunderstood your concern, please let me know.
    If the issue persists, I'm afraid you need to rename these public folders in English.
    Best regards,
    Belinda

  • Exchange 2013 public folder showing as mail enable no, after migration

    I have migrated from 2010 to 2013 and now have a problem with some MailPublicFolders. They can receive mail, but show up in EAC as Mail Enabled "no". If I try to mail enable them they get an odd ball address i.e.
    subject?[email protected]
    I need them to show as mail enabled in EAC so I can give people SendAs etc.
    If I edit the email address, I get an error saying the address already exists.
    I think it is from 2003/2010 when alias was set to
    [email protected] and now that is not permitted.
    Thinking back to when we went from 2003 to 2010, we had to mail disable, then mail enable to get them working.
    How can I fix the properties and end up with a mail enabled mailpublicfolder?

    Hi,
    For this issue, I recommend you delete the public folder object under the Microsoft Exchange System Objects container. Before you delete the public folder object, please note the existing SMTP addresses.
    After that, please Mail-enable the
    public folder again to check result.

  • Unable to expand public folder in Outlook 2013 and Exchange 2013 CU6

    Hello,
    we have just migrated Exchange 2010 to 2013. Everything works great, except public folders, which we are not able to expand in Outlook 2013. Public folders can be added to OWA without any problem, so just the Outlook 2013 is a problem (we never tried any
    other version, as all the e-mail clients installed here are Outlook 2013).
    The public folders are visible under node Favorities in Outlook 2013, but whenever we click any folder, the Public folders disappear completely from the left navigation pane or the message is shown on the right pane, that the public folder cannot be opened.
    When Outlook is started, a dialog is sometimes opened, which contains prefilled Microsoft exchange server, mailbox, button Check name, which is disabled. The only thing which can be done with that dialog is clicking the button Ok.
    Any help is appreciated, the desperation level starts to be reaching max threshold.
    Kind regards,
    John.

    Thank you for your quick response. I have tried removing and creating new Outlook profile many times, without any effect.
    1) When I switch to the online mode, only the node All Public Folders is displayed in the left navigation pane and after I start the Outlook the dialog mentioned above is displayed. The node Favourities is not visible.
    2) In offline node, node App Public folders is visible and whenever I click it, message "Cannot expand the folder" is shown. After checking Download favourities, the list of public folders is available, but whenever I click any folder, it shows
    "We didn't find anything to show here." and "The folder is up to date." in the bottom status bar. The content is rendered correctly in OWA and these public folders contain many e-mails and subfolders. None of these is rendered in Outlook.
    Thanks in advance for any tips and inspiration, we start to run out of ideas. I am more than sure that it will be something simple, but we can't still figure it out.

    Hi Guys
    I'm trying to publish an exchange 2013 public folder calendar. from outlook when I go to publish it give me the following error:

The correct format should look like this: "<MailboxIdentity>:<FolderPath>".
    I've been searching but am unable to find any information regarding the error.
    Is there something that i'm missing which would allow me to publish the calendar?
    Regards
    Dylan

    Hi Ed
    From within outlook 2010 i right click on my public folder calendar and select "Share" and then "Publish This Calendar". it loads owa asking to login, i login and a error popup show straight away over the calendar publishing webpage with the error above.
    the account i'm testing with is a domain account and have full permissions to exchange, public folders etc.

  • OWA still lands at Exchange 2010 for users migrated from Exchange 2010 to 2013

    I never had any issues with OWA redirection for a few users that I migrated from Exchange 2010-2013 initially. For users that I am migrating in the past few days, the OWA 2013 is landing on Exchange 2010 despite the mailbox being successfully migrated to
    Exchange 2013.
    Troubleshooting:
    1. I have restarted the IIS Services
    2. I have restarted MSExchangeOWAAppPool.
    3. I have also checked the homeMDB attribute of the 2013 migrated user with the Exchange 2013 database.
    I would really appreciate if anyone could share their experiences on similar issues.

    I have checked it, the migration status is completed. In regard to the namespaces, both CAS 2010 and 2013 are set to mail.domain.com; CAS 2013 is the internet facing. I have also checked the internal access for OWA, it's the same scenario. Migrating them
    back to 2010 and 2013 won't resolve the issue in my case, because the issue persists for every new user that I am migrating.
    I recently found the following when I login with a user who is not effected and then logout:
    1. Login in back with the affected user without closing the browser or clearing the cache, it lands at CAS 2013 OWA.
    2. However, I get the below listed error message when I logout.
    Your request couldn't be completed.
    Click here to continue working.
    This may have occurred for security reasons or because your session timed out.

  • Exchange Public Folder Migration - Public Folder Mailbox "LockedforMigration"

    I've recently started a SBS2008 (Exchange 2007 - Latest SP3) migration to Exchange 2013CU6.
    Most of the Migration has gone to plan however I've been following a few guides on the Public Folder migration and have seen more errors and time spent than what it is worth.
    I've now decided to abandon the Public folder migration as there wasn't really anything of importance in the old 2007 Public Folders, and just setup a new Public Folder Mailbox and PF Folder on the 2013 environment, however... as I started with the migration
    the 2013 Server is stuck in "LockedforMigration" mode and will not allow me to create a new Public Folder.
    Is there anyway to forcibly 'unstuck/release' the "LockedforMigration = True value.
    Or can I just start decommissioning the old 2007 Box and that will force the unlocking of Migration flag
    By no means is this the only guide, but here is what I've been following if that will help
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj150486(v=exchg.150).aspx
    Thanks Ian

    Hi Ian,
    According to the error message above, please make sure you are running the command as Administrator, and make sure the Administrator is a member of Organization Management Group and Server Management Group. Then try to run command to release "LockedforMigration
    $True".
    Since Public Folders on Exchange server 2013 can't be coexisted with legacy Public Folders within an Org, you should delete Public Folder Database from legacy Exchange server 2007 first, then create a new Public Folder Mailbox on Exchange server 2013.
    Thanks

  • Importing into public folder on Exchange 2013

    Outlook 2013 Pro
    Exchange 2013 SP1
    I created the public folders and granted publisher rights to the outlook client. I exported a list of contacts to contact.pst from another account. In the exchange account, I import, point to the contact.pst and say place in same folder (public). Nothing
    is imported.
    If I expand contact.pst tree and select the contact folder (e.g. vendors), I get error ... Item cannot be created in the root of public folders.
    How do I import into public folder?
    John Lenz

    Outlook 2013 Pro
    Outlook doesn't support importing into a public folder.
    You would either need to open the PST file in Outlook and then copy/move the contact items in the PST file to the applicable public folder.
    Alternatively, if this is something that you're going to do on an on-going basis - any of the ContactGenie Import/Export programs may be of interest

  • Migration from OL 2010 to 2013

    Does anyone have an instruction on how to migrate email accounts (several POP, & IMAP accounts) from one computer running Window 7 and Outlook 2010 to a new computer with Windows 8.1 and Outlook 2013?
    /PS. Please note that it's not just the .pst files that needs to be moved...

    In order to migrate the PST files you’ll need to use a custom XML override. Here is a sample that will gather all PST files from all fixed drives:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
    <migration urlid="http://www.microsoft.com/migration/1.0/migxmlext/pst">
    <component type="Documents" context="UserAndSystem">
    <displayName>All PST migrated from all fixed drives, regardless of location</displayName>
    <role role="Data">
    <rules>
    <include>
    <objectSet>
    <script>MigXmlHelper.GenerateDrivePatterns ("* [*.pst]", "Fixed")</script>
    </objectSet>
    </include>
    </rules>
    </role>
    </component>
    </migration>
    Paste that into Notepad and save as PST.XML into your USMT folder. When you add that to your scanstate and loadstate command-lines with /i:pst.xml then
    all fixed drive PST files will be migrated.
    For more information, please refer to the following Microsoft TechNet blog:
    USMT, OST, and PST
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/askds/archive/2010/02/11/usmt-ost-and-pst.aspx
    You may also move the .pst files without USMT by following the steps the following Microsoft KB article provided:

  • Migrating mailboxes from 2010 to 2013

    I have tried to migrate a mailbox between forest from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013 but when I run the new-moverequest on Exchange 2013 I get the following error
    RemoteLegacy moves must involve Exchange 2010 or lower versions only.
    Remote Moverequest dosn't work (The call to ‘https://mail.com/EWS/mrsproxy.svc’ failed. Error details: Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel with authority ‘mail.com’. –>
    The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel. –> The remote certificate is invalid according to the validation procedure.)
    Can i use RemoteLegacy moves, or only Remote?
    Thanks.

    When migrating mailboxes from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013, a Remote Moverequest must
    be used.
    Example:
    $Cred = Get-Credential (source\account)
    New-MoveRequest -Identity [email protected] -Remote
    -RemoteHostName mail.sourcedomain.com -RemoteCredential $Cred -TargetDeliveryDomain targetdomain.com
    So with the above example, the certificate installed on the source server must include the name mail.sourcedomain.com and target server must trust the certificate.

  • Public Folder Migration Cross Forest

    Hello,
    We are in the middle of planning a cross forest migration from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013.
    To give some context:
    We already have an Exchange 2013 environment complete with mailboxes, and public folders etc. We have a 2010 Exchange server in a different forest that we would like to migrate all existing mailboxes and public folders from to the Exchange 2013 forest. We will
    be keeping the domain/forest that currently contains 2010 so all mailboxes that will be moved will end up being linked mailboxes in the 2013 organization with the accounts held in the other forest.
    One of the big unanswered questions remains around public folder access. During migration there will be a time when some users will be in the Exchange 2010 organization, and some will be in the Exchange 2013 organization. I have two main questions around this
    1. Is there any way possible that anyone can think of that the users moved to 2013 can access the public folders still on 2010?
    2. What is the best way to migrate the public folders over from 2010 to 2013? Do we have to create the public folders and permissions on 2013 before hand or do we use a 3rd party tool or other method to achieve this goal?

    Hi,
    To reduce needless trouble, I recommend migrate mailbox first and public folder second.
    However, public folder will works fine no matter where it located. If you experience an issue about user in Exchange 2013 mailbox cannot access Public Folder in Exchange 2010, please change the RPC authentication to NTML.
    More details about it, please refer to:

    Additional, step by step to migrate Public folder to Exchange 2013, for your reference:

    Hey Guys!
    I'm in the process of testing a Public Folder migration from Exchange 2010 to 2013, I've been following the recommened migration scenario from Microsoft but have ran into this issue when running New-PublicFolderMigrationRequest. I let the request sit at a queued status for over 6 hours and then decided to look at the event logs. I'm receiving an access denied, requesting account does not have permission to serialize tokens.
    Luckily this is just a test and not in a production environment :-)
