Resource Assignment at WBS level

Hello everyone,
I am a new user in Primavera.So I am having a lot of questions....Please see one of them........
Is there anyway in Primavera that we can assign resources at WBS level..If I can do that it could save my lot of time rather than assigning all the resources at the activity level...........
Any kind of help will be appreciated..

I am agreed with your answer but when we looking at WBS window at the bottom you can see the tab called "Planning Resources" . Can anybody will suggest me what is a use of that funcnality & how we can use that (Note:- There is no option for assignment in that tab)

T-code to view employees assigned to WBS in production client?

Hi all,
In quality and dev client i am able to see the employees( resources) assigned to 3rd level WBS Element (By selecting the 3rd level WBS element and my clicking F11 from CJ20N).There by i am getting a screen with the 3rd level WBS element with + sign. When i click the + sign then all the employees were populated. But i am unable to see in Production client. When i am trying to see, it only shows the 3rd level WBS element without + sign. So which t-code i have to get authorization to see the employees of that particular 3rd level WBS element?

Hi,
You can take SU53 screen shot (on the screen where ou see the WBS & employees) on your id and also on the person who is able to view it properly. Send both to your basis team and they should be able to figure out your missing authorization. Once they add the same to your profile, you should be able to see the details.

Calculating Daily Labour Count from P6 Resource Assignment data

Hello fellow P6 users,
If resources are assigned on activities in P6, and have also been leveled, what would be the best way to calculate daily labor presence on site? Currently I have used Excel to import resource assignment at activity level spread on an hourly timescale, and then processed this data to transform it into number of person on site for every work day of the project during its currency. The process is OK but laborious. Wonder how others do it, if at all.
I don't expect much response from P6 users as this is not a very common challenge in our industry but still hoping someone might have had enjoyed such experience to share here with us.

Hi,
Resource Planning will work in Project in two methods.
1.work center:
In work center we will assign resources such as machines etc to execute the Projects
2. Workforce Planning:
In work force planing resource assignment to network activity will happen. Project Team will be assigned to WBSE. Capacity planning / levelling will happen through this functionality.

Report to check the assignment of resource for a WBS

Hi all
As per my knowledge there is no standard report to find the resource assigned to the WBS .
Correct if I am wrong.
If there is any other way where I can find the resource assigned to the particular WBS.

as per requirement
if the requirement is for a particular WBS element or for the activities under it
for activities you can assign resources through work force planning
if the resources are already assigned or vacant can be checked through the transaction code CMP9
CMP2 can also be used for the same
for checking the capacity for work center assigned to that particular activity you can use CM01
the best transaction to check the resource assignment is CN41 you shall get the entire details of all the resource assigned for a activity thus there by getting it for a WBS element.you can have your own layout for display of the reports with the working hours and balance work
if you directly require it over to WBS element the best means is to go for development

BUDGET LOGIC TO BE IMPLEMENTED AT WBS LEVEL WITH 10% TOLERANCE

Budget Logic check at each WBS level allowing 10% tolerance and the project level budget to remain constant
The project structure or the project hierarchy is not fixed. The requirement is that the released budget should be allowed 10% above the present released budget. Also despite this change the budget at the project level should remain constant. The 10% surplus has to be adjusted from the other WBS if they have spare budget and if thereu2019s no surplus budget in any WBS then the system should throw an error. Available budget has to be checked against the PR/ PO creation each time so ensure that Purchase is not made in excess to the budget allocated. Procurement happens thru MM/PS both

You can activate Budget availibility control aginst Overall Budget / Released Budget.
Infact, Budget availability control functionality is designed at WBS level only.
All you need to do is create required Budget profile and assign the same to your project profile.

Reg: Capturing Cost at WBS Level

Hi
I have create two activities(one internal and other External) under one WBS Element.
I have complete the process of confirmation(for Internal activity) and Purchase process for external activity.
Now i can see both the planned and actual costs of those activities.
Now i want the see the costs at WBS Level, which is now happening.
pl guide me, where i can see and what will be the process.

Logistic->Project System->Information System->Financial->Varius reports are given there

Resource assigned two different Skills

HI. If i have a resource assigned to two different Skills that are both set to Longest Available, which skill would take precedence? Is this where I should use the Competence level to give one Skill a priority over the other?
Scenario is Resource A and B are in both Skill 1 and 2. Skill 1 & 2 are both set to Longest Available. A&B are the only members of both Skills. No resource groups.
Does the system somehow keep track of which Resource is Longest available to the Skill?

I am assuming you are talking in regards to UCCX (as oppose to UCCE), if so skills do not have routing algorithms, CSQ do, skills get assigned to CSQs, are you CSQ to one to relationship with skills? If so, and if agents belongs to both skills and 2 calls are queued when the agent becomes available the longest available call will be delivered. If you want to prioritize one CSQ call over another you need to use Priority step in the script.

Write authorization of ACL at WBS level

Dear All,
We activated ACL (No inheri.) at WBS level.
According to my understanding in "write" authorization, we can just change the PS object but we can't delete the object.
We assigned "Write" Authorization to one user, but he is able to delete the object.
Please guide for the same.

Sales order assignment to WBS element

Can somebody tell me Where a Sales order is assigned to a WBS element?
I am aware that it is assigned to WBS element Field in Item details>>Account assignment Tab. But in this tab page on Sales Order screen, I am not able to see WBS Element field. I am able to see the WBS element field for FERT items but not for DIEN.
Can somebody tell me where exactly is this done so that I get the WBS element field populated in SO?

Hope the following will fulfill u r requirement
1) What is WBS element?
2) What is the Tcode to get to that screen?
3) What is the need and pupose of WBS element?
4) Do we happen to work on Functional module during our implementaion project? 5) In what scenario/situation we will be working on WBS?
WBS is nothing but Work Breakdown Structure. It is mainly used in Project System (PS) module. Tcode : CJ20N
For any project defined we must have atleast one WBS. Within this WBS we can have networks. Networks are nothing but the series of activities. Material are used to perform the activities.
To explain in detail just consider one example:
Govt of india wants to have Roads to be build through out the india. So Project can be defined in sap as Connectivity.
WBS can be roads within different states like Roads for Gujarat, Karnataka etc.. i.e. WBS Gujarat, WBS Karnataka etc.
We can define different networks for these WBS like Road Between Ahmedabad to Surat or Between Bangalore to Belgham.
For this network we can have many activities like Land selection, Land Preparation, Road Building, Final finishing etc etc.
Hemals example was a good example. Project Systems comes into play only when the industrys business is based on projects like Construction companies, Engineer to Order scenarios. You may not see anyone using PS module for retail business. As Hemal explained in that example, you have a main project which is broken down into WBS elements. You can use the TC CJ20N to create the project and the WBS elements. Each WBS may have mutiple Networks associated and each Network may have multiple Network Activities as explained in the example by Hemal.
On the Sales Order, if your client is implementing PS module, you may have to attach the Sales Order to the WBS element it belongs to. WBS element is nothing but a bucket where all the activities belonging to that particular part of the project are captured. In the example, WBS Gujurat will tell you how many Sales Orders were created for the Gujurat sector, howmuch was spent on raw materials, whats the currect stock ([roject stock) available. How many Production Orders have been confirmed and howmany of them are getting confrmed in the future. How many invoices have been generated or how much revenue has been generated for that particular sector. How many deliveries have been made, what deliverables are still not accomplished.
So as you can see, PS is the center stage for all the modules that are being implemented like FI/CO, SD, MM, PP in this example. You can have cost centers and work centers defined. You can also have profit centers assigned at the plant level and get reports on varius selection criteria.
In a complete cycle of PS, like in reality, you initiate a project, you confirm/release the WBS/activities as per requirement, you execute the project and you close it.
One cannot initiate an activity unless it has been released by the project manager. Everything is accountable here and every dime is counted and at the end you know howmuch did you spend or make on each sector (WBS). Dont get confused with the term sector here I am using it just for the explaination purposes.
In one typical example, the company I was working with until not too long ago, had Deliveries from the Project (TC: CNS0). We never used VL01N. We used CNS0 to create a delivery and then used VL02N for confirming the picking quantity for the already created delivery document.
I hope this should help you at least a bit. Im not a PS consultant so I may not know a whole lot but trying going to CJ20N and you will see a lot yourself.
PS concultants are one of the highest paid consultants. Their supply is less and so is the demand. They are expected to understand real world business processes very well and they are generally the center stage of a project.

Functional area change at WBS level

Hi Experts,
I just want know the possibility of functional area change at WBS level.
If we assign Functional area at project level, can we change functional area of WBS?
if it is possible then is it possible to assign/change functional area of WBS after releasing the same?

Hi Surej,
FA in project is in Basic tab and FA in WBS is in Assignement tab. Both functional area for Project or WBSes could be different. All this functional area could be changed. However, please note if you changed the FA once the data is posted into the WBS, the system will give a warning message not to change the FA. This FA in master data is to ease data entry. The FA will be copied over to FA area field during data entry. In fact, you can change the FA during data entry.

How can we get the Latest Resource Assigned in the Approval Form

I was wondering if there is any way to get the Latest Assigned Resources to a User in my Approval Form.
I tried this <ref>waveset.resourceAssignments</ref> but it returned all the Resources assigned to a User. While creating a User with Resource Assigned it won�t be problem. While Update when a User is assigned a Resource & it comes for Approval to the owner, all the Previously assigned resources shows up. How can I get only the Latest Resource Assigned.
Can anyone provide some hints on this..

idm_guy, if you could elaborate more on what you mean with latest resource assigned it would help - but there are a number of options (if i interprent you correctly to solvethis). My guess is that the easiest way would be to determine if:
waveset.accounts[<iterate through resources>].created = true or false
and if
waveset.accounts[<resource>].lastPasswordUpdate = <last updated date>
The latter is of course only applicable to resource where you set a password. This value will be updated whenever you set the password and could be a possible value to check against.
If the account is not created yet but assigned it might be another possibility to check, but again - clairfy a bit about what you mean with "Latest Resource Assigned".

Hi Diwakarnd,
You can use any of the following reports to get the information you require.
1. S_ALR_87013557 - Budget/Actual/Variance
2. S_ALR_87013558 - Budget/Actual/Commitment/Rem Plan/Assigned
3. S_ALR_87013559 - Budget/Distributed/Plan/Distributed
Some of these reports use a complex selection criteria from various tables which has been grouped together, logically by SAP. The Logical Database table name for PS is PSJ.
Execute transaction code SE36 -> PSJ -> (Subobject : Radio button Structure) -> Click on Display.
You would see all the underlining tables used.

in my scenario i have roles associated with access policies that assign resources .
i have resources assigned by a target reconciliation ... what i need is assign a role based on resources that the user has..
if the user has 4 resources added by a target reconciliation and these 4 resources make a role then the role has to be assigned automatically...
