Restart java application by itself after a while
Hi,
I have a Java application that runs on a Time clock (Hand held device). This app. has to be up and run all the times 24/7. After few days the app goes to hung stage, where we need to restart it manually. Is there a way, I can code within the app. itself, that restarts every night or so ....

thanks for your response. i should withdraw the word (hand held). this is an external device but connected to the network (ethernet). Hence the app. is started via a shell script and the app. runs on the device. I will work on something with timer or look into the shell script to accomodate this ...

Emctl shutting down by itself after a while
I just got 10.1.0.3 installed and a 9i database converted. I can get the Database Control started (emctl start dbconsole) and use it, however, after a while emctl shuts down by itself. SathThere is but a more important question is why does it quit every few days. Solve that problem and you'll be more ahead than with the solution you asked or originally.
You can put the program on a timer and have ti launch every so often; you'll have to have it check to see if it's in memory when you do and if it is, then close the launcher and just let the previous running instance continue. -
Java application updating itself
Hi,
I'm making update manager program for my Java application.It downloads updated jarfile from the net and that file should replace the file being currently used.
Could someone give a hint what would be the best way to modify the jar-file that is currently being used by virtual machine (or is there any).
The optimal way would be that the code in the original jar file could somehow change itself (and then restart etc) but failing that the second best alternative would be making a second java -aplication which does the updating. In that case I'd need an advice how to start java application from another application in device indepentend way (prefereably not with Runtime.exec().

I am busy making a gui and I run in to a problem, because I have an option in the settings menu. The application is fullscreen and therefore we have an option in the settings menu made with radiobuttons to choose if you want the application to run in fullscreen mode of windowed mode. Now the thing is people always start the application in fullscreen even if they had chosen the windowed mode before. so when people select the windowed mode I would like to restart the application (onl this time NOT fullscreen).
Only my problem is that I dont know how I can restart the gui without doing it manualy. is there some code for restarting?Why not have the radio buttons call methods, say

after patching our NetWeaver 2004s from SPS10 to SPS11 and the Kernel from 7.00.83.0 to 7.00.95.0, the applications on the AS Java do not start up automatically any more.

We can connect to the system using Visual Administrator. Under Server->Services->Deploy, most applications are not running. It is possible to start a few applications manually, others however do not start showing different exceptions.
We have AS ABAP and AS Java installed, as well as BI, DI, EP and EPC. AS ABAP seems to be running fine.
We have also noticed the following deviations in JSPM:
BC_FES_IGS is Release 7.00 SP Level 7.0
EP_BUILDT is Release 7.00 SP Level 10.0
SAP_BUILDT is Release 7.00 SP Level 0.0
All other components except for the Kernel are Release 7.00 SP Level 11.0 or 11.2
What could be wrong, and what can we do to solve it?

1. We already tried that, unfortunately, it does not help
2. We checked the kernel version thoroughly after you suggested it, everything seems to be fine. We had a Unicode kernel before, and we still have one.
3. safemode is already set to NO
4. J2EE's default.trace is full of exceptions, but none of them is pointing me into a helpful direction.

VOD - application goes down after a while (only some instances)
Hello Guys,
I have a simple VOD application running on FMS 3.5.5 which I need to stream continuously but I'm unable to identify the correct configuration to do so. I removed as much limit details as I could from those XML file: Server.xml, Application.xml and VHost.xml.
Basically I have arround 15 different streams but all of sudden some of them, NOT ALL, goes down with no explanation (as I could see).
As per logs, there is no much details but "application unloaded".
Can someone pls help me to identify what else needs to be changed in order to have those stream playing continuously? Usually they went down after some hours in idle state. But I'm not sure whether it's related to CPU/Memory usage. My server has 8GB of memory, and when I start playing all those stream the memory goes down till 52mb free (50mb to 53mb usually). "All" memory is allocated to cache, and it seems there is no problem with that.

Sun Java Application Server 9.0 and 9.1 - High CPU PROCENTAGE 100%
Hi,
I have problem with sun java application Server running after few days during watching a logs from web admin suddenly the application server takes 100% cpu and keeps this procentage - I have to manually close the server process.
The server running on Windows Server 2003.

The custom MBeans seem to work well for the most part though I don't know for sure if I'm using them in the way they were really intended.
Basically, I want to run 'services' on my application server for the lifetime of the server. I want these 'services' to maintain things like runtime caching of information over time that is not persisted in a DB but needs to be kept around in active memory to be used at a later time, but only while the application server is up and running.
Another thing I would like to do is have them receive JMS notifications directly, but I seem to be having trouble when subscribing as a consumer within my custom MBean. The topic thread on that is here:

There are three ways:
1)If Sun JVM is used, then add:
set MEM_ARGS=-Xms1280m -Xmx1280m -XX:PermSize=128m -XX:MaxPermSize=256m
*** -XX:PermSize and -XX:MaxPermSize should be equal and quarter of -Xmx. (-Xmx should also be equal to -Xms)
If BEA JRockit JVM is used, then add:
set MEM_ARGS=-Xms1280m -Xmx1280m
2) If you still get that error, increase your real memory of system.
3) For last choice, contact with your developer to tune your application. -
After automatically updating to 32.0.3 last Thursday and this Monday on all our Staff and Patron computers both Win7 pro and XP pro we have seen Firefox sessions that will not bring up the Print Dialog. The Print Preview dialog will come up but no print button or print menu item will bring up the Print Dialog. After you close Firefox and reopen it the Print Dialog box will work again for some time. The websites that Patron and Staff use during a session are different and done seem to be the cause. The Firefox settings are at fault because a simply restart of just Firefox fixes the issue and no other web browsers or application has any problem with displaying the Print Dialog at any time. Again this began on all the computers as soon as 32.0.3 was installed automatically over night.

The print icon in the page has a opened a printable view and then the print dialoge comes up. When I switched to another program, that icon did not open the preview.

Error while running Java Application as NT Service using INSTSRV

I am trying to run Java Application as an NT Service using Instsrv.But when i start the service It works fine.when i stop the service it does not stop and it continues to run the application.When i uninstall the service It still executes.When i reboot my machine it stops .Is there any solutions for this.Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.I actually had similar situation. I used autoexnt.ext tool (it creats a service that can be called when rebooting) to start a batch file which in turn run a java program. After the program starts, it can only be stopped through Task Manager or Ctrl-C at the dos window (it creats a dos window) or close the window directly. Stopping the service has nothing to do with the program. I feel this is reasonable because the only function of the service here is to start the application. After that the service does not (very likely) have any connection with the program so whatever you do with the service will not affect the program itself. I wonnder if you are in the same situation.

We are in the process of configuring our java application with the production version of SQL Server 2005 Java Database Connectivity (JDBC) Driver 1.0. We are facing issues getting it to work with Sun App Server using JDO concept.

hello.
I got my macpook pro in july 2009 so the warrenty has ran out. Today, after a while just typing away I tried to save the document and went to click on the save icon and found that I had selected selected everything in the document and then the left clicker stopped regsitering. The right click worked just fine but it would like the left click didnt exist and it wouldnt let me do it. I have a mouse, and at first I thought it was the mouse. But it wasnt registering on the trackpad either, so its definitely the laptop itself not getting the signals for a left click.
I then restarted the laptop and it was back to normal. So i thought it was just a glitch. but it happened again after about an hour after restarting the laptop. So I gave up on the laptop and then out for dinner, came home to find that it happened after about 30 mins of being on the internet.
Ive tried looking for similiar threads but it seems like for other people its something to do with the battery on their laptop or just on their track pads thats not registering. For me, it's not registering on my track pad and every mouse I have in my house to test it with.

I can't find Cocoa-Java Application after Xcode Version 3.2.1 install..
Can anyone tell me what happened to all the different Java Applications and Applet selections when File/New Project is selected from Xcode version 3.2.1 64bit? I can't seem to find it. Prior to installing this new version of Xcode, I had full access to all the different Java suites, now I have nothing. Please help, coding seems to compile, I just want to have the choices there for learning purposes. For example:
Ant-based Application jar
Java AWT Applet
Java AWT Application
Java Swing Applet
etc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

To create Java projects w/Xcode 3.2.1 as an example, you must first open Organizer by choosing Window > Organizer. At the bottom of the Organizer window, you will see three buttons.
